Mumbai, Apr 30 () Majority of urban Indians consider banking and online home repairs as important essential service during the lockdown, even as nearly three-quarter of respondents said they are satisfied with the available essential services, says a survey. According to a survey by market research and data company YouGov, nine in 10 urban Indians (89 per cent) picked banks as the most essential service during the lockdown from a list of businesses providing non-essential goods and services. Banking was followed by the online home repairs, which was considered to be crucial during this time by around three-quarters (74 per cent) of respondents. The onset of summer and the need for AC and fridge servicing could be the reason for placing greater importance on this need, the survey noted. Interestingly, the survey said many people considered newspapers and magazines as well as pet stores to be of higher importance (61 per cent each) in the current scenario than the availability of alcohol and cigarettes. The need for pet stores and services is more urgent for tier I residents (with 66 per cent) than tier II (57 per cent) and tier III (59 per cent) residents. The demand for pet stores, however, is comparatively lower in south India. The survey was done from data collected online by YouGov Omnibus among 1,000 respondents in India between April 21–24 using YouGov's panel of over six million people worldwide. Meanwhile, the Home Ministry's decision to cancel the permission to sell non-essential commodities on e-commerce platforms is likely to add to the disappointment of many who consider the online sale of kitchen appliances (40 per cent), gadgets (33 per cent) and body or skin care products (35 per cent) as essential. The survey also found that there also seems to be scepticism towards some businesses that the government has allowed to trade during the pandemic. While 60 per cent said they consider postal and courier services essential, people seem to be in a less dire need of local standalone salons and parlours, and only a meager proportion counts salon services - either at home (15 per cent) or at shops (13 per cent), as "essential". On restriction on the operation of gyms and fitness centres, close to half of the respondents (46 per cent) think of them as key services, but almost as many (54 per cent) feel they are unnecessary, it said. We're not at the market top yet according to David Rosenberg at Gluskin Sheff. This he argues is because "public participation has yet to reach level that typifies the final blow-off an equity bull market. ...We have yet to see Bob Farrell's Rule #5 (the public buys most at the peak and least at the bottom)," citing the legendary Merrill Lynch strategist. But how do you really know when you have arrived at the "aha moment" that signals that it is time to exit the stock market.
"Go back to each cycle and you will see that each fundamental peak in the S&amp;P 500 actually represented a 'failed' peak," he writes. "In other words, the market doest a 'double top' at the highs. It hits a first peak, corrects mildly from it as the proverbial 'smart money' takes profits, and then makes its way to a new high as the last gasp moves up takes hold (generally driven by those who missed out on the bull run and end up capitulating right at the wrong time)." 
"Now at that first peak, the momentum is so strong that typically the S&amp;P 500 is up 11% on average over a 30-day period. So the actual classic 'melt up' everyone talks about is the first peak. This tends to stir up a frenzy that pulls the momentum crowd and many neophytes into the market hook, line, and sinker. A mini-correction then follows and the brokers typically tell their clients not to miss the boat again - but you know the gig is up if the market makes a new high and does so on weak breadth (lower participation as measured by the NYSE 52-week high list) and Bob Farrell's rule #7 coincides with fulfillment of that rule #5 (rule #7 goes like this: markets are strongest when they are broad, and weakest when they narrow to a handful of blue-chip names)."

This comes after a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) commissioner, Kara Stein, said FINRA's disciplinary actions were "too often financially insignificant for the wrongdoers." He suggested that FINRA update their sanctions. Susan Axelrod, Finra's executive vice president told the WSJ that they shouldn't just be judged by the size of the fines. She also said that they would take another look at their guidelines and ensure that their penalties would be "meaningful and will have an impact."

"So a person with a laptop, TV, mobile phone and stereo could be classified as rich. Yet in our field research, we've met people in countries like Ghana whose ramshackle homes are full of electronic devices but who are quite obviously poor," he writes.
"In working-class homes, the fridge is used mainly for efficiency items (Display). It includes basic foods such as eggs, fruits and vegetables and some pre-cooked food. • From smartphones, automotive, TV to tablets, Corning has covered all. What next?

Automakers around the world are working to reduce the weight of their vehicles to meet strict mobile emissions regulations. Corning Gorilla Glass for Automotive enables a weight reduction in glazing of more than 30% versus conventional soda lime glass. Corning Gorilla Glass for Automotive can be used in all openings of a vehicle including windshields, sidelites, sunroofs and backlites. Corning Gorilla Glass also can be used in automotive touch/control panels. 
 
Corning recently teamed with Ford on the first production automotive windshield for Corning Gorilla Glass for Automotive on the Ford GT – proving once again that light, tough, and optically advantaged Gorilla Glass reaches well beyond consumer electronics. In addition to the windshield, Gorilla Glass for Automotive is also deployed in two other windows on the Ford GT, the rear window and the bulkhead, a separation window that is located behind the seats and in front of the rear engine. 
 
With Corning Gorilla Glass’s advanced technology, the interior architecture industry is also set to get a new face with a greater freedom for designers to channel their creativity. o Our research and development organization at Corning is constantly working on new glass designs and new innovations to meet customer needs. We do not set specific times for new product launches, but launch when we can confirm that it will add value to the industry.

• What are your India specific plans?

• What is the most fun part of working with Corning? 
 
I started working as the President of Corning India Technologies in March 2012. Prior to assuming this role, I was based out of California, USA where I was the Business Director at Axygen, a company that was acquired by Corning in 2009. 
 
I have been able to channel my energies here towards innovative technology that has helped shape the present and the future. The times are exciting and the environment at Corning resonate the adrenalin rush with which our society is changing and to witness this every day is extremely fulfilling. 
 
For me personally, it has been an exciting learning experience which has helped me move closer to my goal of making this world a better place. 
 
• You are constantly researching and innovating. How do you deal with the stress? 
 
For me, it is learning and enjoyment rather than stress. India is one of the fastest growing markets in the world. As I see the potential of growth for Corning in India, leading the company wakes me up with determination and gives me joy to start my day with.
