New Delhi [India], February 20 (ANI): In response to rumours that <keyword id="20083626" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kamal-nath" source="keywords">Kamal Nath</keyword>, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and senior <keyword id="19895371" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="congress" source="keywords">Congress</keyword> leader, might switch to the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress leader Digvijaya Singh asserted on Tuesday that Kamal Nath's allegiance lies with Congress. He emphasized that Kamal Nath is, and will continue to be, a part of Congress. Singh also urged the media to refrain from propagating misinformation. As of now, there has been no official confirmation from Kamal Nath's side. On being asked about his plans to switch sides, Kamal Nath rejected all the claims, saying the media would be informed "if there is something." "Why are you all getting excited? It is not about denying. I will inform you all if there is something like that," said Kamal Nath on Saturday, while speaking to the media. Madhya Pradesh Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar on Monday called the speculation about veteran Congress leader Kamal Nath and his son Nakul Nath switching sides to Bharatiya Janata Party 'rumours'. Singhar told on talks of the veteran to join BJP, "All of these are rumours. He (Kamal Nath) has never said that he is joining the BJP. He is a senior, former CM and an asset to the party. All the MLAs are with him. He (Nath) also has said several times that he is like a third son of Indira Gandhi. He understands it and is a very serious personality. The Congress had hoped to win at least 20 seats in the bypolls but the trends indicate otherwise.The Congress had campaigned vigorously in the bypolls in a bid to return to power in the state. The party had to win at least 22 seats to remain in the numbers game but it had not crossed the double-digit figure if counting trends are an indication. Kamal Nath's hopes dashed as BJP takes lead in Madhya Pradesh bypolls

NEW DELHI: Dr Manmohan Singh’s legacy came under yet another round of intense attack with former <keyword id="6356851" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="CAG">CAG</keyword> Vinod Rai alleging that the former <keyword id="71" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Prime-Minister">prime minister</keyword> was aware of major scandals as they unfolded, refuting claims Singh was not fully aware of the machinations that resulted in humungous loss to the public exchequer and mauled the <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> party’s electoral fortunes. 
 The former CAG’s revelations challenge the defence of Singh that the <keyword id="6446767" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="2G-scam">2G scam</keyword> was perpetuated by A Raja using the political necessity of Congress to humour DMK, thus fastening the mega swindle to the reformist PM. 
 
Rai, whose book “Not Just An Accountant” is set for release in the next few days, claimed that Dr Singh was alerted by his senior cabinet minister Kamal Nath about the brewing 2G scam. 
 
Adding credibility to Rai’s claim, Kamal Nath admitted that he had cautioned Dr Singh against 2G allocations. “I wrote to the Prime Minister that I am hearing all sorts of things are going on in 2G allocation. The PM chose to do nothing,” Nath told Times Now. The former commerce minister said he feels that had Dr Singh intervened “things would have been different for the Congress”. However, there was no point flogging a dead horse, said Nath even as he emphasized that “A Raja was prosecuted for what he did”, and that Rai should not resort to sensationalism to boost the sales of his book. 
 
 
 
The former CAG also claimed that he was under pressure to drop the name of the former civil aviation minister from the federal auditor’s report on the controversial purchase of aircraft for public carriers. He said the then minister, Praful Patel, had “nudged” the public carriers to go in for the large-scale purchase. 
 
“All hell broke loose when the draft report reached the ministry and bureaucrats of all hues tried to prompt the CAG to drop the word “nudge”. 
 
Patel denied the charge saying that he never met Rai. 
 Rai’s is only the latest book from those who have had a ringside view of Dr Singh’s prime ministership, and who later chose to record the unpleasant realities of the PMO under him and the <keyword id="26374" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="UPA-government">UPA government</keyword>. Dr Singh’s former media advisor Sanjaya Baru, former external affairs minister K Natwar Singh and former coal secretary PC Parakh have all recorded the makings of many scandals that have marked the UPA decade, portraying the former PM as the leader who was not in control or unwilling to intervene. 
 Elaborating on what he had told TOI exclusively on August 24, Rai on Thursday told Time Now that he was approached by three Congress MPs – former <keyword id="6356398" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Law-Minister">Law minister</keyword> Ashwani Kumar who had to resign for allegedly pressuring the CBI to dilute PMO’s role in the Coalgate scam, <keyword id="56431" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sanjay-Nirupam">Sanjay Nirupam</keyword> and Sandeep Dikshit – to drop the name of the Prime Minister from the CAG report on 2G spectrum allocation.

“I mentioned in the book that after the PAC meeting on the 2G, Congress MPs did tell me that keep the PM out of this,” Rai said. 
 
Reacting to Rai’s claim, Sanjay Nirupam said the former CAG was lying. “I have never spoken to him,” Nirupam said. 
 
Rai said the irregularities in allocation of 2G licences date back to the tenure of Raja’s predecessor and his DMK colleague Dayanidhi Maran in the telecom ministry. “And we had evidence of the licence being given out at particular prices not only from Raja's time but before also from the previous minister who was also from the DMK. We found that there was a track record that the previous minister had started in a particular way and Raja followed that way. But Raja kept informing the PM what he was planning to do,” he said. 
 
Rai said then PM Manmohan Singh’s own cabinet colleagues were advising him against the licence allocation in arbitrary manner. “Like his own cabinet colleagues were saying that lets discuss this in a GoM. The finance ministry was also saying that lets bring it to a group of ministers. The law ministry had also advised him to do that. But somehow it did not take place,” he said. 
 
 
 
<keyword id="204796" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Former-Union">Former Union</keyword> minister Kamal Nath (L) has claimed that he had cautioned Manmohan Singh against 2G allocations and slammed the former PM's inaction over the issue. 
 
The former CAG said former PM had enough time to stop the allocations. “It could have been stopped because between this letter of 26th December and 10th of January when the LOIs were actually issued, there was a fortnight’s time,” he said. 
 
“The buck stops at the PM's desk in any parliamentary democracy. He is the CEO of the country. He can stop, or he can initiate, both. I have written in the book that he probably chose not to stop,” Rai said.

The BJP candidate was leading in early trends with 57.74% vote share, received after counting of postal ballots in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal constituency. Thakur is contesting against former Chief Minister and Congress candidate Digvijaya Singh. Digvijay Singh of the Indian National Congress was trailing with 40.24% votes. Bhopal, Jan 24 () Madhya Pradesh gained significantly at Davos, where the World Economic Forum (WEF) is holding its annual meet, with investors promising to invest Rs 4,125 crore in food and renewable energy sectors.
 Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath along with senior officials including Chief Secretary S R Mohanty and Principal Secretary Industries Rajesh Rajora, held discussions with potential investors at Davos and showcased the state as a viable investment destination.
 The Daawat Food Ltd, which has a plant in Mandideep, near Bhopal has got FDI worth Rs 125 crore from Saudi Arabia Agriculture and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC), a senior official of the public relation department said on Friday.
 Besides, two central wind projects of capacity 325 MW each are now approved. One by Soft Bank Energy (Japan) and another by Actis (England) would be coming to the state. 
 It will involve a total investment of Rs 4,000 crore, Rajora said.
 Nath also held discussions at length with Max Peterson, the Vice President of Amazon Web Service.
 According to Peterson, the company is operating at six places including New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune and Chennai.
 Out of these, the company has data centers in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai and wishes to start business in Madhya Pradesh, the official said.
 The Chief Minister assured that all facilities and resouces needed for data centre like land, electricity and workforce are available in Madhya Pradesh, the official added.
 The Chief Minister also informed that 690 acre land is available at nine different places of the state for setting up data centre business.

New Delhi, Feb 14 () The Madhya Pradesh government on Friday announced investments worth over Rs 3,000 crore by private firms in the state, with a potential to generate employment opportunities for 14,000 people, according to an official document. The announcement in this regard was made by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath during the textile and garment sector round table held here. The highest investment of Rs 3,000 crore with employment generation potential for 10,000 people was announced by Trident Group, it said. Investments of Rs 100 crore and Rs 50 crore were announced by Mayur Uniquoters and Gokaldas Exports with a potential of generating 1,000 and 3,000 employment, the document said. Another firm-- Pratibha Syntex-- will set up a textile park for Micro, Small &amp; Medium Enterprise (MSME) units in Indore with an investment of Rs 100 crore, it said. Besides these, the MP government has decided to implement several measures to further boost ease of doing business in the state. Chief Minister Nath said immediate clearances and licenses will be provided for up to 40 services within 7 working days. The state will take up policy for incentivising composite and integrated units in textile sector, he said. The government has urged private developers to come forward for the development of garment park at Barlai (20 kms from Indore on way to Dewas) on a public-private-partnership (PPP) model. "The state will devise more incentives for manufacturing of textile and apparels from organic cotton," Nath announced. He said any industry with investment lesser than Rs 100 crore but employing more than 500 people will be considered mega industry and will be eligible for customised package. As per the existing scheme, industries with Rs 100 crore or more investment were considered mega industries for which customised package used to be approved by cabinet committee for investment promotion. "Until now, garment units which are outside the limits of textile park or industrial parks were not eligible for incentives under the state government garment policy. Now, garment units outside the industrial parks will be eligible for incentives offered under the garment sector package," the chief minister said. He said 'plug and play' industrial park will be developed in Badiya Khedi (Sehore) in an area admeasuring 60 acres which is only 28 kms from Bhopal airport and close to Bhopal-Indore highway. Investments worth crores of rupees were also announced during food processing sector round table discussion. "PepsiCo procures Rs 110 crore worth of potatoes every year from MP. It will double its procurement of potatoes in future for further processing. The company will also invest in potato manufacturing unit in the state," the document said. Adani Wilmar will invest enormously in wheat flour business, it said. They will also invest in Soya Badi and Basmati rice processing in Vidisha, according to the document. Coca-Cola will invest in fresh juice manufacturing unit of oranges and mangoes,it said.
