If you thought tax troubles ended with the financial year, you are wrong. As per the Indian Income Tax Laws, you have to file your taxes before 31st July. Although traditionally most people avail the services of professionals like Chartered Accountant, it is relatively easy to do it online. Below is a quick guide on how to electronically submit your income tax returns. 
 
Step 1: Create a profile Just like any other online service, you have to simply follow the registration process and create your user log in. Visit the <keyword id="3520748" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="income-tax-website">Income Tax website</keyword> <a href="http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/">https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in</a> and click on ‘Register Yourself’, which will prompt you to fill your personal details. 
 
Step 2: Download Form 26AS 
You will be surprised how much of your salary or income details are already in the system thanks to your PAN number. Look for form 26AS that summarizes the TDS, Advance Tax, Self Assessment Tax paid in your name or against your PAN number. 
 
Step 3: Income Tax return form 
Next, download the Income Tax Return form. Individuals earning salary income / pension; or individuals having one house property income; or individuals having income from other sources (excluding lottery income and income from race horses) should download ITR1. However, if you have income from more than one house property, capital gains or are an ordinary resident having assets abroad or claiming tax treaty benefit, download ITR-2. Carefully fill the form with basic details; including your name, PAN, complete address, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, and residential status. You will also have to mention details of income earned and deductions claimed under various sections. You may refer to your Form 16 (summary of your income and deduction details as reported by your employer) and Form 26AS for income and deduction details. You should also add any other income or investment that you’ve not reported to your employer. Lastly enter the details of tax deducted by the employer and other deductors and self-assessment / advance tax paid, if any, and furnish your bank details for receiving any refund amount. 
 
Step 4: Confirm your details and calculate 
It is very important to click on the ‘Validate’ button on all the sheets to ensure that all the details have been recorded. The sheet will automatically prompt you to fill in the missing details. If you have filled all the fields, click on ‘Calculate Tax’ to see your total income tax for the financial year. If there is no additional payable tax, save the form as an .xml file. 
 
Step 5: Submit the income tax return 
Now log in to your income tax account and upload your tax return statement along with your name and assessment rear. You will receive an ITR-Verification form confirming your details and submission via email. Earlier you were expected to sign the ITR-V receipt and post it to the IT office in Bangalore for acknowledgement, if you did not have a digital signature. However, since last year the e-filing process has gone fully paperless. Simply link your Aadhar Card at the time of registration to avoid mailing your form this process. 
 
Step 6: Check the ITR-V receipt status 
On receipt of the signed ITR-V, the Income Tax Department will send an email acknowledging the receipt of ITR-V to the e-mail ID mentioned in the tax return. You will also receive an SMS on your mobile number acknowledging the receipt of tax return.

In the latest move, you will be able to start a business in India in just six days. At present, a new venture needs at least 26 days to start. In order to start a business as soon as possible, the government has also trimmed the number of procedures from 12 to only six. 
 
While you need to fulfill 12 procedures in Delhi, the number can go up to 14 in Mumbai. 
 
India still has a long way to go when compared to other countries. For instance, in New Zealand, you need just half a day to start a business, while in Singapore it takes about 2.5 days to start a company. In the US it takes about 5.6 days and in the United Kingdom it takes about 4.5 days. 
 
Out of the 190 countries in the list, India Ranks 130 overall in the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=world+bank+ease+of+doing+business&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">World Bank Ease of Doing Business Report</a> and ranks 155 in terms of starting a business. New Zealand and Singapore top the list.

Tax filing is compulsory if your total income in a financial year exceeds the minimum income which is exempt from tax i.e. Rs 2.5lakhs. Even if your taxes have been paid in full, you should still file a tax return if your income is above this threshold. Those who are seeking a refund, can get it by filing a return. Having a proper trail of filing also helps in securing loans and visas. 
 
What is assessment year? 
Most of us know financial year is the 12 month period that begins on 1st April and ends on 31st March. Your taxes are calculated for this period. Say if you started working in June 2015, your financial year is 2015-16 which ends on 31st March 2016. Assessment year is the year in which tax return is filed for a financial year. The assessment year is 2016-17 for financial year 2015-16. It is the year in which your income details are submitted to the tax department. While preparing your return, you must make sure you select the assessment year correctly. 
 
How should I prepare my tax return? 
If you always saw your parents do a paper return, those days are long gone. E-filing of your tax return is compulsory if your annual income exceeds Rs 5 lakhs. 
 
If you are salaried, some e-filers allow you to upload your Form 16 and your return is automatically populated. Form 16 takes care of your income from salaries. But your income tax return should include every income earned by you. Do you have any interest income from a fixed deposit or a savings account? Include that in your tax return under ‘income from other sources’. If there is any income from a prize or internship or rental income that should be included too. 
 
From your gross total income ‘deductions’ can be claimed. These deductions reduce your total taxable income and you end up paying lower tax. Make sure you make the most of them. The most popular deductions are section 80C and section 80D. You can claim it, if you are enrolled for EPF, deposited in PPF or invested in ELSS during the financial year. Under section 80D, deduction is allowed for medical insurance. 
 
What should I do about <keyword id="17506" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="TDS">TDS</keyword>? 
Your employer deducts TDS from the salary you are paid. The bank cuts some TDS on your interest income. Anybody who pays you cuts some tax on the payment. This helps the government get its share of taxes as you get your payment. This tax deducted on your income is called TDS. TDS is linked with your PAN. You can locate all the TDS deducted from your income in one document called the Form 26AS. At the time of filing your tax returns, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=TDS&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">TDS</a> that appears in your Form 26AS is adjusted against your tax dues. If higher TDS is deducted, you are eligible for a refund. Or your return will show a tax due if TDS was short. You must pay any dues before submitting your return.

1. Remember to verify your return after submitting it. After your return is submitted, an acknowledgement is received from the tax department. You should now verify your return. Verification is a critical step to return filing. A return which is not verified is not considered filed.

3. Make sure you mention your personal email id in your return and keep track of all communication received from the tax department.

That's an appreciation of 6.7% year over year. Home prices increased 8% in 2013.
"Looking at the total value of the U.S. housing stock proves just how huge and important the housing sector is to the overall economy," wrote Zillow Chief Economist Dr.&#xa0;Stan Humphries in a press release. "Virtually nowhere else will you see gains of more than a trillion dollars in one year represent only single-digit percentages of the total market.
Houston led the jump in year-over-year home prices with homes worth $353 billion, a 13% increase. It was followed by Atlanta ($373 billion, up 10.5%) and San Jose ($544 billion, up 10.2%).
Homes in Los Angeles have the highest cumulative value in the country, at $2.3 trillion.
Indianapolis was the only major market tracked by Zillow to see a price decline in 2014, with homes falling 2.6% to $100 billion.
Zillow forecasts an increase in home prices next year at a slower pace.
"As we conclude 2014 and look ahead at 2015 and beyond, housing will play a bigger role in the broader economic recovery, Humphries wrote. "As the job market improves and more households form, more people will search for homes to buy and rent, which will translate into more people buying appliances and home goods and lead to more jobs for home builders and contractors. Housing is well positioned to continue the great strides already made this year."

The government is planning to lease out '<keyword id="3118090" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-Ashok" source="Orion">The Ashok</keyword>' to investors for turning the sprawling 25-acre property in the heart of the national capital into a 'multi-purpose' building, housing an array of facilities including service apartments and a mall, an official said. The <keyword id="68177" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tourism-ministry" source="Orion">Tourism Ministry</keyword> is working on the contours of bidding and aims to complete the process in the current fiscal. "The intention is to turn 'The Ashok' into an iconic building which would house service apartments, besides a mall and other amenities taking advantage of its location," the official told PTI. The lease could be of 90-100 years, he said, adding that since the hotel land spreads over 25 acres and is close to the Diplomatic Enclave, the service apartments could attract international dignitaries. The Ashok, and the adjacent Hotel Samrat are among the eight <keyword id="187728" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india-tourism-development-corp" source="Orion">India Tourism Development Corp</keyword> assets listed under the <keyword id="10696324" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="national-monetisation-pipeline" source="Orion">National Monetisation Pipeline</keyword> announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman last month. "The government is not looking to ramp up collections from this transaction. The intent is to utilise the asset to its full potential and build a multi-purpose building like those in foreign countries," the official added. The government last month launched the asset monetisation pipeline under which brownfield assets worth Rs 6 lakh crore may be monetised through fiscal ending March 2025. The ownership control would, however, be retained with the government.
