Zomato has been working with Feeding India for over 6 months and now, the not-for-profit’s team has officially been integrated with the foodtech giant, according to the company’s official <a href="https://www.zomato.com/blog/fighting-hunger-and-wastage">blog. </a> Through Feeding India, donors can make a request for <keyword id="3100546" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="food-donation">food donation</keyword>, and the startup’s volunteers called Hungry Heroes reach the spot to check and collect the food. They then subsequently deliver the food at a previously identified ‘Feeding India Hunger Spot’ – where the food is given to the needy. According to Zomato, since their work together began 6 months ago, Feeding India’s number of monthly meals has gone from 78,300 in December 2018 to over 1.1 million meals a month now, while also scaling up its operations from 65 to 82 and adding 13,000 volunteers to have a total of 21,500 volunteers now. <ul><li><keyword id="4085901" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Milkbasket">Milkbasket</keyword> has raised ₹200 million in venture debt from <keyword id="225032" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sachin-Bansal">Sachin Bansal</keyword>’s firm <keyword id="7578713" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bacq">BACQ</keyword>. </li><li>Earlier in March 2019, Milkbasket had announced the acquisition of Veggie India for an undisclosed amount. </li><li>The grocery space has been heating up in India, with Bigbasket joining the unicorn club and unicorn startup Swiggy having entered the segment.</li></ul><keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> co-founder Sachin Bansal is back in the news. Bansal’s firm BACQ has invested venture debt worth ₹200 million into Milkbasket – a grocery delivery startup. Bansal, through BACQ, had earlier made an investment in digital lending platform Krazybee and a personal investment in Ola technologies. Venture debt is a type of debt financing given to early stage companies. "Milkbasket is now working on the next set of innovations to further consolidate its market leader position across it’s fresh (fruit &amp; vegetables) offering, automating the daily delivery supply chain and reducing go to market time for multi-city expansion. These funds would provide us the needed CAPEX and R&amp;D investments in all the three domains.” Anant Goel, co-founder and CEO, Milkbasket added. In March 2019, Milkbasket had acquired one-year-old startup Veggie India for an undisclosed amount. With the acquisition, the founders of the Noida-based Veggie India Jainendra Upadhyay and Shailendra Upadhyay as well as all of their employees had joined Milkbasket. The Gurugram-based startup Milkbasket had earlier raised about $16 million from Mayfield Advisors, Beenext, Kalaari Capital, Unilever Ventures, Lenovo and Blume Ventures at a <a href="https://www.vccircle.com/mayfield-leads-milkbasket-s-extended-series-a-round/">reported</a> valuation of $30 million. According to CRISIL, the online retail market in India is expected to grow 250% to touch ₹1.8 trillion by 2020 fiscal. Sachin Bansal adds more to his cart, invests ₹200 million in Milkbasket

<ul><li>The logistics tech startup has raised $395 million with a renewed valuation of $1.6 billion. </li><li>SoftBank has reportedly picked up a stake of 22.4% in the company. </li><li>Other investors include Carlyle Group and Fosun International. </li></ul>After months of speculation, logistics tech startup Delhivery has finally joined the <keyword id="3009432" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="unicorn-club">unicorn club</keyword> after raising $395 million from <a href="https://www.vccircle.com/softbank-carlyle-invest-395-mn-as-delhivery-joins-unicorn-club/">SoftBank</a>. The latest round of funding takes Delhivery’s valuation to $1.6 billion. Last week, the company and its investors made headlines after SoftBank received the approval from Competition Commission of India to take hold of 22.4% stake in Delhivery. Other investors in the round include US-based private equity firm Carlyle Group and Chinese conglomerate Fosun International. Delhivery also has Tiger Global, Nexus Venture Partners and and Times Internet as its investors. SoftBank-Delhivery talks had been going on since <a href="https://inc42.com/buzz/softbank-may-invest-245-mn-to-lead-delhivery-to-unicorn-club/">last year</a>, with a lot of back-and-forth between the duo regarding the stakes in the company. Delhivery had also been contemplating an Initial Public Offering, which will now be put on hold with the new investment. The logistics solutions company founded by Sahil Barua, Mohit Tandon, Suraj Saharan, Kapil Bharti and Bhavesh Manglani, had managed to create a stronghold in India with its partnership with e-commerce unicorns like Flipkart and Paytm among others. Japan-based SoftBank has a strong presence in India with investments in multiple unicorns and startups in the country. The SoftBank Vision Fund concentrates on Indian startups, with the firm having earlier said they had missed the bus on many Indian startups because of not having an India office. “Investors like Tiger Global, Sequoia Capital and DST Global spotted these companies at the right time. We were a tourist investor. So opening an office lets us handhold our companies closely. We missed them before they became unicorns, which we did not with Oyo and Policybazaar. Delhivery becomes India’s first unicorn in 2019, thanks to SoftBank

Indian grocery startup Bigbasket enters the unicorn club with a reported $2.3 billion valuation

<ul><li>Oyo launches a SOS button for its consumers. </li><li>The unicorn startup also has a trained Oyo Safety Response Team. </li><li>With a pilot project in Gurugram currently, the service will soon be available across 25 cities in India.</li></ul>Indian unicorn hospitality startup <keyword id="2550719" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="OYO-Rooms">Oyo Rooms</keyword> has <a href="https://www.dnaindia.com/technology/report-oyo-launches-industry-first-in-app-sos-button-here-is-how-the-feature-works-2728644">launched </a>a SOS button for its users. The in-app SOS button will help users staying in Oyo hotels or partnership hotels to alert authorities during an emergency situation. The hospitality chain has also trained a 24x7 OYO Safety Response Team (SRT) which will be able to help consumers. The app will also initiate a call with local law enforcement authorities if the situation arises. A pilot of the SOS button has already been launched with Gurugram and will soon be made available in 25 cities. With the acquisition, the founders of the Noida-based Veggie India Jainendra Upadhyay and Shailendra Upadhyay as well as all of their employees will be joining Milkbasket. This is also Milkbasket's first acquisition since their launch in 2015. Veggie India, which was launched in 2018, operates in Noida and Ghaziabad mainly for delivery of vegetables and fruits, according to its website. “The acquisition is in line with our growth plans for 2019 and adds further strength and distribution capabilities to the existing business,” Anant Goel, Co-founder and CEO of Milkbasket. Goel added that Milkbasket has an “aggressive growth plan.” In India, grocery delivery startups have been gunning for dominance in their fields. So, Milkbasket’s acquisition of Veggie Daily comes at a time when every other player like Big Basket or Grofers is upping their game as foodtech unicorn Swiggy enters the grocery delivery segment. In an official statement, the company said, “Having achieved positive unit economics within the first six months of the launch, Milkbasket is the most capital efficient model in the online grocery space as compared to its domestic and global peers.” With this acquisition, Milkbasket now has a customer base of over 100,000 households. Milkbasket, as its name gives it away, first gained popularity after its launch in 2015 for delivering fresh milk to Indian households and soon expanded their services to groceries too.
