New Delhi [India], January 16 (ANI): India's wholesale <keyword id="22195" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="inflation" source="Orion">inflation</keyword> based on the <keyword id="59350" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Wholesale-Price-Index" source="Orion">Wholesale Price Index</keyword> for the month of December 2022 was at 4.95 per cent (provisional), against the previous month's 5.89 per cent, official data showed on Monday. In October, it was at 8.39 and has been falling since then. Notably, the wholesale price index (<keyword id="46000" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="wpi" source="Orion">WPI</keyword>)-based inflation had been in double digits for 18 months in a row till September. The decline in wholesale inflation in December was primarily due to a fall in prices of <keyword id="6181" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="food" source="Orion">food</keyword> articles, mineral oils, crude petroleum and natural gas, food products, textiles and chemicals and chemical products, said the Ministry of Commerce and Industry while releasing the inflation data. Meanwhile, India's retail inflation during the month of December was at 5.72 per cent, data released last week showed. The latest figures showed a marginal decline and further moderation in retail inflation as compared with the previous month. India's retail inflation rate based on Consumer Price Index was 5.88 per cent in November from 6.77 per cent in October. Retail inflation in India had remained above 6 per cent till October for over three quarters, which was beyond RBI's comfort zone. RBI, in its fight against rising inflation, had already hiked the key policy rate by 225 basis points since May to 6.25 per cent to cool off domestic retail inflation that stayed above its upper tolerance limit for nearly three quarters. Raising interest rates typically cools demand in the economy, thereby putting a brake on inflation. The latest hike was on December 7 last year, when the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the RBI increased the policy repo rate by 35 basis points, besides deciding to remain focused on the "withdrawal of accommodation" of monetary policy to ensure that inflation remains within the target going forward while supporting economic growth. The next three-day RBI monetary policy meeting is scheduled for February 6-8. WPI inflation cools further to 4.95% in December as food and crude oil prices fall

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday ordered fresh testing of <keyword id="92247" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="johnson-johnson" source="Orion">Johnson &amp; Johnson</keyword> <keyword id="1599878" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="baby-powder" source="Orion">baby powder</keyword> samples and permitted the company to manufacture the product but to not <keyword id="6368389" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sell" source="Orion">sell</keyword> it, as per the Maharashtra government order. The company had filed a petition challenging two orders of the state government- one dated September 15 cancelling the license and the second dated September 20 ordering to immediately stop manufacturing and sale of the company's baby powder product. The orders were passed by the joint commissioner and licensing authority of the state <keyword id="54048" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="food-and-drug-administration" source="Orion">Food and Drug Administration</keyword> (<keyword id="6354656" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="fda" source="Orion">FDA</keyword>). The government based its orders on the report of the Central Drug Laboratory in Kolkata, which found the powder contained a higher pH level than prescribed. A division bench of Justices S V Gangapurwala and S G Dige on Wednesday directed the FDA to collect fresh samples from the company's factory in the Mulund area of Mumbai within three days. The sample would then be sent to three laboratories - two government labs and a private one - for testing. "The samples shall be sent to the <keyword id="580086" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="central-drug-testing-laboratory" source="Orion">Central Drug Testing Laboratory</keyword>, west zone, FDA lab and the Intertech Laboratory for testing," the court said. "The labs shall submit a report within one week thereafter," it added. Senior counsel Ravi Kadam, appearing for the company, sought that the court till then permits the company to at least start manufacturing the product. "The petitioner is restrained from selling or distributing the baby powder product by the government. The company shall abide by this order. If the company chooses to manufacture the product then it would be at their own risk," the bench said. The HC posted the matter for further hearing on November 30. The company had in its plea said 14 random batches of February, March and September 2022 were tested by an independent public testing laboratory and all were found to be well within the prescribed pH value. The leading Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) manufacturer said it has been making the baby powder at its Mulund plant for the last 57 years and its license was renewed in January 2020. The company also said due to the license revocation, it suffered a daily loss of Rs 2.5 crore based on the market value of the goods sold. Bombay HC orders fresh testing of Johnson & Johnson baby powder; allows company to manufacture but not sell it

A massive Diwali-Dussehra celebration festival showcasing the best of Indian culture, heritage, and values in an unparalleled manner has attracted a record-breaking crowd of more than 10,000 persons from all walks of life and ethnicities here in <keyword id="15710" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="texas" source="Orion">Texas</keyword>. The foundation finds innovative and unique ways to share Indian Vedic culture and values. This festival had special attractions for children like henna booths, face painting, balloons, moonwalks, merry-go-rounds, a petting zoo, horse buggy rides, clowns, etc. Performances like folk dances, martial arts of India, and kids in costumes of the characters from the scriptures were presented on a two-tiered 60 ft. by 40 ft. stage, with professionally installed stage lights, special effects, and huge LED screens adding a wow factor for the audience. A 24-foot-tall figure of lord Hanuman and a 35-foot-tall figure of Lord Ram was installed next to the stage. A play in English depicting the life of lord Rama and his final battle to overcome evil kept the audience glued to their seats till the end, earning a standing ovation. Arun Verma, president of SSRF, said: "India is a country of festivals and Diwali being the biggest of all festivals, we try to introduce, educate, promote and showcase the rich vibrant culture and moral value to the Indian diaspora and all Americans, while celebrating the 'Victory of Good over Evil' and 'Universal Brotherhood'." "We bring the best of the best and do it on a grand scale. You name it, and we have it over here." The festival is "open to anybody" as it also includes aspects of American culture, according to Verma. "Our belief is that the entire world is one big family and we need to treat everybody like a brother and a sister. To demonstrate that, we have invited every one of them," he said. "Looking at the overwhelming response this year and the record crowd, we may have to take this festival to an even bigger location than this football field with the capacity of 10,000 spectators" as we had to stop people from entering after it crossed the maximum capacity due to city restraints, he told PTI. The Sugar Land festival, which Verma said is the biggest of its kind in Texas, combines the two Hindu holidays of Diwali and Dussehra. The festival featured a unique multi-coloured magnificent parade with 40 floats by local temples and community organisations representing scenes, stories, and characters from Indian scriptures. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Processed foods may contribute to weight gain because they're low in protein, new research suggests.</li><li>A lack of protein may prompt the body to try to balance nutrients by overeating, researchers theorize. </li></ul>Eating too many processed foods could deprive you of <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/diet-nutrition/what-is-protein">protein</a> and potentially lead to weight gain, new research suggests.Researchers from the University of Sydney, Australia, funded in part by a red meat marketing and research company, looked at data on the eating habits of 9,341 Australians, collected between 2011 and 2012 as part of a national nutrition survey.They found people who "diluted" their diet with low-protein meals — particularly in the form of processed foods like pizza, chips, and fast food — tended to eat far more calories than they needed over the course of the day.Conversely, the researchers found that participants whose first meal of the day was high in protein tended to eat less overall, which suggests getting a head-start on your protein needs for the day could curb appetite. The researchers concluded our bodies may try to stimulate appetite when we're lacking protein, to compensate. The resulting "protein hunger" could drive us to overeat seemingly substantial processed foods, rather than vegetables and whole grains that are actually high in protein.<h2>A protein-rich breakfast could help you eat less overall</h2>The study, published November 2 in the journal <a href="https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/oby.23578">Obesity,</a> suggests that how much protein we eat could make a difference in our total calorie intake — and whether we can gain or lose weight. The <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/diet-nutrition/what-is-protein">recommended protein intake</a> is between 0.36 to 0.9 grams per pound of body weight per day.The researchers theory suggests that our bodies aim to get within that range of protein — so if protein is a relatively small part of our diets, we have to eat a lot more to get enough. A person who weighs 150 lbs would need between 54 to 135 grams of protein per day. Each gram of protein has around four calories, so that works out at about 216-540 calories a day of <a href="https://www.insider.com/protein-per-serving-animal-plant-based-foods-chart-comparison-2022-5">high-protein foods</a> like meat, fish, chicken, Greek yogurt, beans, or soy. If that person ate a diet that is 15% protein, they'd need to eat up to 3,600 calories total to get enough protein, which could contribute to weight gain. In contrast, they'd be able to eat enough protein in up to 2,160 calories a day if their diet is 25% of daily calories from protein, keeping them well within the range recommended to maintain weight. "The hypothesis is that we need a certain amount of protein to function, and we will keep eating till we get to [the right number]," obesity expert Giles Yeo, who was not involved in the study, told Insider. "The data supporting it is quite solid. Most of the work was first worked out in flies and mice, but increasing evidence from human studies indicate it occurs, at least under certain conditions, in humans as well."<h2>Added protein and fiber can help, but don't neglect whole foods</h2><a href="https://www.insider.com/how-to-eat-a-completely-unprocessed-food-diet-benefits-drawbacks-2021-5">Cutting out processed foods</a> can be challenging, since they show up everywhere in our diet, and are cheap, convenient, and tasty. Some evidence even suggests the combination of refined carbohydrates and fats in <a href="https://www.insider.com/highly-processed-foods-are-addictive-like-tobacco-research-addiction-journal-2022-11">processed foods can be addictive</a>. But it may be possible to make better choices with processed foods by opting for versions with <a href="https://www.insider.com/processed-foods-with-protein-fiber-better-for-you-expert-says-2021-11">more protein and fiber</a>, and less added sugar, fat, and salt, Yeo previously told Insider. Doing so may help you feel full for longer, and help prevent overeating typically linked to processed foods.However, too many processed foods of any variety can crowd out whole foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes in your diet, which are an important source of vitamins and minerals. As a result, it's important to think about the overall context of what you eat, not just specific nutrients, according to Yeo. "We eat food, not calories," he said.

New York, After the Democrats disparaged US President Donald Trump's programme to get an anti-coronavirus vaccine ready at warp speed, they are now turning to <keyword id="1901517" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="former-presidents">former Presidents</keyword> to help convince Americans that it is safe to get vaccinated against the raging disease. Bush, announced on Thursday that they would publicly get vaccinated to demonstrate its safety to the 42 per cent of Americans who refuse to be injected with it, according to the latest Gallup poll. The nation's <keyword id="10377386" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="top-covid-19-expert">top Covid-19 expert</keyword>, Antony Fauci, whose statements on the pandemic have become the gold standard for scientific veracity, has also said he would let himself be injected with one of the vaccines that are hurtling towards approval. "I may end up taking it on TV or having it filmed, just so that people know that I trust this science, and what I don't trust is getting Covid," Obama said during a satellite radio programme. Staff of Bush and Clinton told CNN that the former Presidents would be ready to take the vaccine, which is expected to roll out in less than two weeks and be distributed to various categories of people like frontline workers and those at risk due to age or health conditions prioritised according to their vulnerability to risks. Bush and Clinton will have priority for getting the vaccine because they are over 70, while Obama, who is 59, and has no conditions that put him at risk will be in a lower priority category. Pfizer's vaccine is likely to get an emergency use authorisation from the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) expert panel when it meets on December 10 and Moderna's at another meeting on December 17. Millions of doses of the two vaccines have already been made and are ready to ship to the states within 24 hours of approval, according to officials. The UK has already approved the Pfizer vaccine, becoming the first country after China and Russia to have a vaccine ready for the public. The vaccines developed in less than ten months with a push from Trump and help from his Operation Warp Speed has become a source of embarrassment for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, whose administration will have to promote it if the the pandemic is to be defeated. Harris told CNN in September that she would not trust the vaccines because the scientists and medical officials who will approve the vaccine will "be muzzled, they'll be suppressed, they will be sidelined" by Trump. According to Gallup, the percentage of Americans willing to be vaccinated plunged from 61 per cent in mid-August to 50 per cent by mid-September, but slowly recovered to 58 per cent last month. Biden said in October: "I trust vaccines. I trust scientists. But I don't trust Donald Trump. And at this moment, the American people can't either." New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said that he would set up his own panel of experts to study the vaccines before allowing it in the state and not trust the federal agencies like the FDA that approves vaccines and other medicines for use by the public. Trump had asserted that vaccines would be ready by November and this got them embroiled in elections politics. Two companies, Pfizer and Moderna, met the deadline having gone through the Phase 3 trials, but did not announce the results showing more that 90 per cent efficacy till after the election. It insulated them from politics, but officials of the two companies said that they weren't told of the trial results till after the election. Now that Biden and Harris will be running the country from next month, they will have to turn around and convince the people to trust the vaccine and get at least 70 per cent of the population to get it. Seventy per cent is the lower threshold for herd immunity, which according to scientists could also be as high as 90 per cent. Herd immunity is a society's overall immunity to a disease that is achieved when a certain percentage of its population has built up resistance to it either through exposure to it or through vaccinations and those who are not vaccinated are also protected. Now that Trump has confounded the sceptics by having the vaccine ready in far less time than is normal for vaccine development and even some Democrat leaders are coming around to accepting its safety and efficacy controversies haven't died down. Cuomo has played the race card claiming that according to the Trump administration plans, African-Americans and Latinos will find it difficult to get vaccinated and at one time even threatened to sue the federal government over it. But Trump has said that the vaccines would be given to the states according to their size and they could distribute it the way they want it. One of the results of the entry of race politics is that the trials were criticised for not having enough African-Americans and Latinos and on Wednesday Johnson and Johnson informed volunteers that it was canceling the future participation of those who did not belong to those ethnicities. What inspired the venture: Pure passion. That’s what our investors also want – once the product gets the final shape, money will come in,” he adds. 
 
Cucumbertown has immense growth potential though, as the food and cooking space is getting bigger month on month. For instance, in November last year, 41% Americans visited such websites, up 2 million in terms of unique visitors from October 2013. These numbers won’t go down all of a sudden and the start-up can expect more traction when it starts expanding this year. 
 
Biggest challenge: Scaling to <keyword id="6409094" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="International-Markets">international markets</keyword>, especially non-English markets like <keyword id="87" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Germany">Germany</keyword>, while maintaining content and image quality. “We are a small team building a very big product. So we are not thinking about break-even or revenues at this point. The <keyword id="6357455" type="EVENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Funding">funding</keyword> we raised would last for a while. Meanwhile, we must ensure that our users have the <keyword id="2067933" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="best-publishing-tools">best publishing tools</keyword>. In India, shutting down your business may seem like a disaster, but things are quite different across the globe and especially in Silicon Valley. So many people have failed here, but they have found the courage and the means to start up all over again. We're still people — we joke, we swear, we drink.As for how I resolve being gay and part of the church, the church I'm part of doesn't allow for same-sex marriage or the blessing of same-sex civil unions.But within the same family of churches, there are others like the Episcopal Church in the United States, the Episcopal Church in Scotland, and the Church of Wales that do allow and bless same-sex marriages. There are a lot of clergy who are LGBT and live with their partners.<h2>You won't know if something works for you till you try</h2>Though the job is significantly different from everything else I've ever done, I found that many of the skills that were core to what I was studying and working on before — diplomacy, reconciliation, and public speaking — were still useful as a pastoral assistant.In many ways, it's not that different from what I did before. Both politics and faith are about peace and justice. Helping people to find that, hopefully by guiding them through all the ups and downs of life, is so rewarding to me.There'll never be a perfect set of circumstances to uproot your life and try something you've always been curious about.If there is a burning desire you have, there's only one way to find out if it will work for you.
