The Rs 1500-crore claim during Chennai floods was more than that of 2006 Mumbai floods claim. Experts say that higher claims in metros act like a whip, thereby increasing the premium.

<ul><li>The National Disaster Response Force evacuated around 75,000 flood-affected people.</li><li>At least nine persons drowned on 8 August 2019 when a rescue boat capsized at Brahmnal village in Maharashtra's Sangli district. </li><li>Around 22 National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force teams are deployed in flood affected regions </li></ul> In one of its biggest rescue operations, various government agencies and the armed forces helped evacuate around 75,000 flood-affected people. This includes 66,000 people from Kolhapur and Sangli districts. More than 54,000 people were shifted from Sangli, another 12,000 were moved from Kolhapur. Also, 3,000 people from Pune and 6,000 others from Solapur, Raigad, Ratnagiri and other districts were also moved from their flood-affected homes, said the officials.

For the past six days Boulder, Colorado and nearby areas have been devastated by the worst flooding in decades.
<a href="http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/09/17/20536628-more-than-500-rescued-or-found-safe-in-wake-of-deadly-colorado-floods?lite">Eight people have reportedly died</a> in the <keyword id="48088" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="floods">floods</keyword>, while 18,000 buildings were damaged or destroyed and 648 people still haven't been heard from. The pictures that have been coming out of these areas <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/flooding-in-boulder-colorado-2013-9">have been stunning and surreal</a>.
The sheer scale of the flooding can be difficult to image, but a graphic from Reuters gives some idea of two huge factors in the disaster.
First, this chart shows how phenomenal the amount of rainfall Colorado has seen this month. As Bryan Walsh of Time Magazine notes, Boulder itself has already smashed its record for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/cms/posts/edit">annual precipitation with almost three months left of the year</a>.

The <keyword id="48088" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="floods">floods</keyword> in China have already claimed dozens of lives.</li></ul>Drivers are taking to social media to post videos of Teslas making their way through flooded streets in China.One video on Twitter shows a Tesla powering through a flood zone that appears to have left other cars stranded. In the video, which has been widely circulated online, the murky flood water laps at the car's windshield.The Twitter user said the video was taken from a flooded highway in China. Other videos that were posted on social media were recorded in Henan, a Chinese province that has been inundated with <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/22/china/zhengzhou-henan-china-flooding-update-intl-hnk/index.html">historic rainfall that has killed dozens of people.</a>It is extremely dangerous for drivers to take cars through flooded zones, as the vehicles could become stranded or severely damaged. Most car insurance also does not cover driving through flooded areas. Tesla CEO Elon Musk claimed in 2016 that the Model S can function as a sort of "boat" after a Tesla owner <a href="https://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/tesla-s-russia-flooded-tunnel/">drove the model</a> through a flooded tunnel in Kazakhstan.Driving in flooded zones can severely damage a car's engine, whether it's electric or gas-powered, as the vehicle's undercarriage is not designed to sustain prolonged periods of submersion in water. Though, Musk said on Twitter that the Model S has a sealed battery and drive units and does not require an oxygen supply like most combustion engines to keep the car running. While the vehicles in the videos are the Model 3, customers speculated they could be equipped with the same technology as the Model S, calling it "boat mode." Tesla's Chinese factory has also reportedly established a special testing area in Shanghai that simulates floods for Model 3 and Model Y Teslas. A <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaY9qwSwkGE">YouTube video</a> from 2019 appears to show workers testing the Chinese version of the Model 3 in flood conditions.Another flood video has over 1.4 million views. Several videos of the Teslas in action in flood zones were posted and reposted across Twitter. Of the at least seven different videos posted online, none of the Teslas appear to be stalling in the water. The Austin Tesla Club also posted another video of a car driving in flood zones up to its hood.

Many portions of the Assam-Agartala National Highway are flooded and disrupted the normal traffic flow. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire services, civil defence and volunteers are jointly working to help the affected regions, officials said. More than 3000 families in the state have been relocated to 17 makeshift rescue camps.
