Bengaluru, July 14 (IANS) A Walmart-led investor group on Tuesday pumped in an additional $1.2 billion into the ecommerce platform Flipkart Group to support its marketplace in the wake of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. With the new investment, Flipkart group is now valued at $24.9 billion. The $1.2 billion will be funded in two tranches over the remainder of the fiscal year. "We're grateful for the strong backing of our shareholders as we continue to build our platform and serve the growing needs of Indian consumers during these challenging times," Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said in a statement. Founded in 2007, the Flipkart Group includes Flipkart, digital payments platform PhonePe, fashion specialty site Myntra and eKart. In 2018, Walmart invested $16 billion for a majority stake in the group. "Since Walmart's initial investment in Flipkart, we have greatly expanded our offer through technology, partnerships and new services. We will continue innovating to bring the next 200 million Indian shoppers online," Krishnamurthy said in a statement. With a registered customer base of over 200 million, Flipkart recently surpassed 1.5 billion visits per month and reported 45 per cent growth in monthly active customers and 30 per cent growth in transactions per customer for FY20. Flipkart offers 150 million products across more than 80 categories, and has pioneered customer-centric services such as cash-on-delivery, no-cost EMI and easy returns. PhonePe recently reported annualised total payments value (TPV) of $180 billion on more than 500 million monthly transactions. "Flipkart continues to leverage its culture of innovation to accelerate growth and enable millions of customers, sellers, merchants and small businesses to prosper and be a part of India's digital transformation," said Judith McKenna, President and CEO of Walmart International. New Delhi, Jul 9 () Arvind Fashions (AFL) on Thursday said Flipkart Group has invested Rs 260 crore to pick a minority stake in its subsidiary Arvind Youth Brands. Arvind Youth Brands is Arvind Fashions' recently-formed subsidiary which will own the Flying Machine brand. "The Flipkart Group and Arvind Fashions (AFL) strengthened their partnership, through an investment of Rs 260 crore by Flipkart Group to purchase a significant minority stake in... Arvind Youth Brands which will own the Flying Machine brand," AFL said in a regulatory filing. Arvind Fashions said Flying Machine has been retailing on the group's platforms of Flipkart and Myntra for more than six years. "Through this investment, the Flipkart Group and Arvind Fashions will work collaboratively to identify opportunities and synergies to innovate and develop products with strong value propositions at attractive price points," the company added. Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive Officer, Flipkart Group, said, "Through this investment, we look forward to partnering with the team at Arvind Youth Brands to continue to grow the market for its portfolio of products and enhance the strong brand equity that has been built over the last few decades." Walmart, Netflix partner to expand Hub experience to more viewers

Bengaluru, E-commerce marketplace <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> on Tuesday said that it will transition its entire fleet to <keyword id="6354973" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="electric-vehicles">electric vehicles</keyword> (EVs) within the decade by joining the non-profit <keyword id="9820558" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="climate-groups">Climate Groups</keyword> global electric mobility initiative, EV100. The 'EV100; initiative brings together forward-looking companies committed to accelerating the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) and making electric transport the new normal by 2030. Flipkart said it will go for a phased integration of electric vehicles into its entire fleet -- directly owned or leased corporate fleets -- by 2030. This will be done through placing requirements in service contracts, installing charging infrastructure close to its 1,400 supply chain premises, conducting awareness programmes and incentivising delivery executives towards the use of electric vehicles. How Flipkart went from being an online bookseller to India’s biggest e-commerce story

Flipkart announced it will buy eBay.in in April this year when it raised $ 1.4 billion from global technology majors eBay, Tencent and Microsoft. In exchange of an equity stake in Flipkart, eBay had made a cash investment of $500 million and sold its eBay.in business to Flipkart. "Effective immediately, Flipkart will own and operate eBay.in, which will remain an independent entity as part of Flipkart," Flipkart said in a statement. "As a result, Flipkart customers will get expanded product choices with the wide array of global inventory available on eBay while eBay customers will have access to a more unique Indian inventory from Flipkart sellers," the statement said. But it seems as though he’s here to say with <a href="https://in.reuters.com/article/myntra-ceo/flipkart-group-fashion-unit-chief-says-to-continue-in-role-idINKCN1NL0KJ">Reuters</a> reporting he is excited about Myntra going forward. According to a <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Companies/PgkNUOseOWncBjl30Ib9eO/Walmart-to-layoff-200-at-Jabong-today-merge-it-with-Myntra.html">report</a> by LiveMint, Walmart is planning on completely integrating Jabong into Myntra only days after announcing that the fashion brands would be rolled into Flipkart. Sources are afraid that this may lead to nearly 200 layoffs. What was the confusion? Binny Bansal’s abrupt resignation led Walmart to name Kalyan Krishnamurthy as the new CEO of the Flipkart Group. According to recent <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/flipkart-in-a-flip-myntra-ceo-cfo-quit/articleshow/66644142.cms">media reports</a>, Narayanan did not share a ‘friendly’ rapport with Krishnamurthy. Even without any change in Narayanan’s position at the organisation, he would now be reporting to Krishnamurthy instead of Bansal which many speculated would cause friction. Till now, Myntra, while being a subsidiary of Flipkart, has operated more-or-less independently. Krishnamurthy maintains that, even with Jabong merging with Myntra, the fashion brand will continue to have the same level of autonomy. Bansal, who <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/allegations-left-me-stunned-flipkarts-binny-bansal-resigns-denying-claims-of-personal-misconduct/articleshow/66619043.cms">denied</a> all the charges of ‘personal misconduct’ in his last letter to employees, is currently undergoing an independent investigation.
