The Bengaluru-based company will test the implementation of TVS Motors’ electric vehicles (EV) for its food delivery as well as other on-demand services like InstaMart, Genie. Notably, Swiggy currently has over two lakh delivery partners working with the platform. The commitment is to make deliveries spanning 800,000 kilometres per day through EVs by 2025, according to Mihir Rajesh Shah, vice president operations, at Swiggy. The partnership will help TVS Motors’ meet its target to expand the presence of its TVS iQube Electric across all major cities by March 2022. The electric scooter is currently available in 33 cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune and Kochi. <div type="image" title="Swiggy will deliver stuff on TVS Motors’ electric scooters" msid="88872757" hostid="261"></div> A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has already been signed by the two companies. “Our collaboration with Swiggy is a key step towards strengthening the electrification of mobility in food delivery and last-mile delivery services, furthering the easy adoption of EVs amongst customers,” Manu Saxena, senior vice president of Future Mobility at TVS Motor Company, said. Several companies — including Amazon, Flipkart and Swiggy’s rival Zomato — have committed to adopt EVs for 100% of their delivery fleet by 2030. Zomato’s founder and chief executive Deepinder Goyal, in a blog post published in <a href="https://www.zomato.com/blog/a-sustainable-future">June 2021</a>, said that through 100% EV adoption will not be easy but it will be essential in the long run. The company is currently delivering through EVs in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai. He had also noted that limited battery range, lack of charging infrastructure, higher upfront cost and lack of trust in the new technology are some of the challenges that are emerging for faster adoption of electric vehicles. In India, it could be a funding autumn not winter with active funds are still closing big deals

After one year of pilot project, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=flipkart&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Flipkart</a> is all set to drive its two-wheelers sales, nationwide. To start with, the ecommerce giant will sell TVS Motor's entire range from next month. 
 <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> had started sales of TVS Motor's motorcycles and scooters in March last year in Bengaluru on a pilot basis. 
 
Adarsh Menon, vice-president for electronics and automobiles, Flipkart told ET, "We had launched the automotive category in April 2015 by commencing sale of auto accessories on our platform. We have witnessed 600% year-on-year growth in sales of auto accessories and auto electronics. In two-wheelers we did a pilot with TVS Motor in Bengaluru and will start sales nationwide next month. All major two-wheeler brands would be on our platform shortly." 
 
Apart from two-wheelers, Flipkart will also get Mahindra &amp; Mahindra (M&amp;M) for sale on its platform.

The arrangement to sell passenger vehicles online with M&amp;M started with the KUV100, which was launched earlier in January this year. 
“We aim to provide a transparent and smooth end-to-end experience to consumers purchasing automobiles on our platform be it pricing or delivery. The target is to corner a2% share in the domestic two-wheeler market by the end of the year. Automotive is definitely a core focus area," Menon told ET. 
 
With foraying into the two-wheeler segment, Flipkart plans to have sales of around 330,000 units over the next eight months. 
 Rivals Amazon and <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> were also not behind in venturing into the automobile segment. 
 Snapdeal has tied up with <keyword id="6357252" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp">Hero MotoCorp</keyword>, Hero Electric, Suzuki Motorcycles, TVS Motor and Polaris Industries to sell motorcycles and off-road vehicles.

Xiaomi’s Global VP Hugo Barra today launched company’s first “smart home” product in India, <keyword id="3671632" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mi-Air-Purifier-2">Mi Air Purifier 2</keyword>. Xiaomi has been popular in India for churning out value for money devices. And so, the Mi <keyword id="1606234" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Air-Purifier">air purifier</keyword> 2 is competitively priced at Rs. 9999 while at present Air Purifiers in India will cost anything between Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 80,000. In Barra’s words the new Mi Air Purifier 2 is “designed to disrupt the market”. 
 
 
 The Mi Air Purifier 2 connects to smartphones and allows remote access to the device through an app and enables users to check the air quality of a room in real-time. It has a 360° cylindrical filter with triple layer design that filters out dust, plant pollen, pet fur and bad odour. Xiaomi says the Mi Air Purifier 2 takes just 10 minutes to circulate purified air in a 21m2 room and the motor only consumes about 4.8W. It has a noise level as low as 30dB in Night mode, it also has a Turbo mode and an Auto mode which automatically adjusts the motor according to the room’s air. The Mi Home app also monitors the filter’s lifespan and sends a reminder when it needs to be replaced and the filter can be bought from company’s website for Rs. 2499. The filter roughly lasts about six months. The Mi Air Purifier 2 works with non-Xiaomi <keyword id="6355645" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="android">Android</keyword> phones and iPhone as well. 
 
 
 Xiaomi will start selling the Mi Air Purifier 2 from September 26, 12pm on the company’s website and from October 2 on <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> as well. Considering home appliances in India are mainly bought and sold in physical retail outlets, <keyword id="2210169" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Xiaomi-India">Xiaomi India</keyword> head, Manu Kumar Jain says that there is no certainty as yet on offline Xiaomi retail stores in India but he also added that India will see more products from the company’s “smart home” category in future. Xiaomi has a broader range of products in its home market China which includes Mi TV, water purifiers, air purifiers, rice cooker etc.

Recently, Amazon, the e-commerce giant, announced that it has integrated more than 6,000 electric vehicles into its Indian delivery fleet across 400+ cities. Their plan is to expand this number to 10,000 by the end of 2025. Similarly, Flipkart has pledged to convert its entire last-mile delivery fleet to electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030. Additionally, they're encouraging service providers to set up staff charging facilities near their 1400+ last-mile hubs. Swiggy ties up with SUN Mobility to electrify over 15,000 bikes in its fleet

<ul><li>Tech brands have fared badly in 2023 due to global headwinds, recession threats and more.</li><li>Banking and financial services companies including fintechs saw their value swell during the year.</li><li>PhonePe and Cred were the new entrants into Kantar’s list of Top 75 Indian brands.</li><li>Auto companies made a comeback from Covid-lows with TVS and Mahindra being among the fastest risers. </li></ul>It is not just the share prices of technology services companies that are falling, even their brand value has taken a beating. India’s top brands have borne the brunt of the global economic downturn in 2023. The combined value of Kantar BrandZ’s top-75 Indian brands shed 4% of their value to $379 billion in 2023. Yet, they have fared better than their global counterparts, as its global list has shed 20% of its value. Most of this loss in brand value was seen in Indian tech brands whose value shrunk by 14%. The brands have a major presence in international markets, and have been impacted by global pressures, recession threats and geopolitical instability, says Kantar. “If you exclude tech, the combined brand value is quite stable,” said Soumya Mohanty, managing director and chief client officer, South Asia, Insights Division of Kantar. TCS on the top, as usual The spot of India’s most valuable brand, however, is retained by tech giant TCS. It has shed 6% of its value but has fared better than tech as a sector. “TCS has a strong corporate reputation which makes it more likely to retain clients and business. It can also help enable customer retention which is also a factor that adds to brand value,” Deepender Rana, executive managing director of South Asia Insights Division at Kantar told Business Insider India. Infosys’ brand value dropped by 17%, while HCL Tech’s brand value rose by 3%. Both these brands made it to the top 10. Wipro’s brand value dropped by a sharp 42%. The rest of the list is dominated by banks, telecom companies with only one consumer company, Asian Paints in the top 10. risers of the year. TVS, valued at $1.9 billion, occupies the 51st rank. The company has gained 59% in value and leapt 24 places thanks to a number of successful product launches and a 10-year partnership with BMW that gives it leverage in markets such as Europe, the US and Canada. Mahindra is valued at $2.01 billion and occupies the 47th rank. Mahindra, which grew its value by 48%, made itself incredibly meaningful in consumers’ eyes, and also significantly boosted its salience. The sector saw the second highest category growth of 19%, after tobacco. Royal Enfield’s value also swelled, thanks to Indians’ preference for premium products. A lot of Indian auto brands, like Tata Motors, also entered EV markets and are able to meet consumer needs better, observes Rana. “Auto companies’ value declined during Covid and made a comeback after they dealt with supply chain issues and dealt with bottlenecks,” said Mohanty. India’s largest auto company Maruti Suzuki, however, shed 5% of its brand value, while Bajaj Auto’s brand value went up by 9%. The value in finance Financial services brands have grown their brand value by 6% with 16 brands and contributing to the biggest chunk of the total brand value. Their growth is attributed to growth in digital banking and Axis Bank whose value swelled 28% and now ranks at 17. ICICI Bank which ranks at no 6 also has seen its brand value swell by 18%. Two of this year’s new entrants also belong to the fintech sector — PhonePe and Cred. This is in spite of the fact that tech as a sector saw its value go down during the year. PhonePe has made its debut on the list at No.21 with a value of $4.4 billion. It has quickly become India’s leading digital payment app by investing heavily in the strength of its infrastructure, building connections with partner banks, and developing a huge network of merchant acceptance points, said Kantar. Meanwhile, Cred has entered at no 48 with a brand value of $2 billion. “Growth of credit and other digital trends are adding to the value of fintechs. There is a need for these services and brands are doing a good job of providing them,” Mohanty tells Business Insider India. PayTM, Zomato, Swiggy, Flipkart, Naukri, Oyo and Nykaa have shed value; while Byju’s hasn’t been included in the list this year. FMCG as a sector has seen its brand value remain stable during the year.

Be it consuming content in the initial phases, or shopping online once unlock started happening, people have been spending much more time online than they used to before the lockdown. There it becomes imperative for brands to be where their consumers are. It is here that <keyword id="10233281" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="advertising-offerings">advertising offerings</keyword> by platforms like OLX become important for advertisers. OLX currently has a large base of over 6 million daily active users. Moreover, every listed item on the classifieds platform on an average gets over 15 replies within 7 days from interested buyers and users spend around 16.5 minutes on every visit. This goes to show that the platform has an engaged set of audience who are serious about buying. This therefore makes it an efficient platform for advertisers to connect with an audience that is already engaged. Perhaps this is why the platform’s advertising offering has been able to win over advertisers. We speak to Sunny Kataria, Head Of Commercial Verticals, OLX India to understand what kind of benefits advertisers have been reaping from advertising on OLX. Excerpts: Q) What kind of growth has OLX advertising witnessed in the past few months, especially during the lockdown? How much does OLX advertising contribute to OLX’s overall revenue? OLX advertising over the last one year has increased its spread of advertisers manifold. Some of the largest categories for OLX advertising are automobiles, smartphones, white goods and electronics, ecommerce, BFSI and now Retail. After a 54% YoY growth post lockdown, our forward looking goals are also aggressive and positive. Q) How is OLX advertising different as an offering from what other e-commerce platforms have to offer? Our offerings are starkly different from e-commerce platforms since users on OLX already have an intent to buy, which may not always be true for e-commerce platforms. On e-commerce, a consumer might be in the evaluation stage and also since that is predominantly a B2C platform, you would not be able to target your entire universe of audiences. Ours is a social marketplace that caters to C2C and B2C, across categories like Auto, Real Estate and Jobs which are not existent on e-commerce. The rich first-party data that we have on purchase of high value items in these categories is unparalleled. Our users are extremely sticky, spending over 16.5 minutes on every visit, with a clear intent to close the transaction. We have a large base of over 6 million daily active users now and every listed item on an average gets 15+ replies within 7 days from interested buyers. The platform witnesses 2 to 2.5 lakh iPhones, 14k+ premium cars, 5k+ premium bikes being listed every month. Over 12k+ premium white goods and electronic devices and 2k+ luxury properties for sale get listed every month. We have real data to validate unlike other platforms and there is an actual fulfillment of transactions on the OLX platform. Q) How have brands benefited by investing in OLX advertising? As a young and emerging platform, we handhold brands through every step of the process, in creating and conceptualizing their advertisements. Given the nature of OLX as a classifieds platform, we assist brands in tailoring their ads depending on their requirements. If a client has decided on their creative brief and messaging, we focus on the campaign optimization and set up to meet the requisite KPIs. If the client so desires, we have an in-house team that can help ideate, support with creatives and facilitate innovation through formats and custom targeting. Be it brand awareness or product consideration, we are getting repeat orders month-on-month from almost all of our advertisers which is the proof of the pudding. Q) We are well into the festive season. What kind of response have you seen from advertisers when you compare it to previous years? In a short time, OLX has been able to partner with many large brands. Top smartphones brands under <keyword id="8332343" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="BBK-group">BBK Group</keyword> (Oppo, Vivo, Oneplus Realme), Xiaomi, Samsung and Honor to name a few. We also have white goods and electronic brands like Whirlpool, ITel Tv, Fitbit, Netflix &amp; LG advertising on our platform. Moreover, BMW, Volvo, Maruti, Bajaj, Tata Motors in Automotive Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal in <keyword id="1019285" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="E-COMM">E-comm</keyword> to major BFSI brands are joining the tribe. As per recent OLX data, 90% of OLX mobile sellers buy a new phone and hence, mobile advertisers have increased over the past one year on OLX. Similarly a majority of car sellers are intended for a new car hence auto advertisers have increased over the year. Q) What kind of growth has digital marketing seen in the past few months and do you think this growth will sustain even in the post-Covid world? The crisis has brought about a fromidable shift in how brands communicate with their target audiences. Their channel choice is driven by where consumers are spending their time. Being a digital-first brand coupled with the fact that there is a sweeping shift in favour of digital consumption in India, we have continued to grow our digital presence as a primary mode of staying in touch with our users. Auto is an important vertical for OLX, where we have witnessed a huge digital shift. Automobile brands are experimenting with new forms of content such as <keyword id="6369782" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="augmented-reality">augmented reality</keyword>, virtual reality and more. Similarly, in other categories too, brands are increasingly creating digital touchpoints to grow brand presence. With social distancing becoming the need of the hour, consumers are swiftly moving online. Hence, brands will continue to change their business models from traditional mode to the new normal, which is digital.

OLX advertising has witnessed 54% YOY growth post lockdown

<keyword id="6357120" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="PayTM">Paytm</keyword> has joined hands with Suzuki Motorcycle India to allow consumers to book any of Suzuki’s two-wheeler models on its platform across the country. 
 
As part of the association, over 400+ Suzuki dealers have been on-boarded and the company will also have a brand store on Paytm. The company is looking to sell over 10,000 units within this calendar year. Paytm will also enable vehicle financing to provide higher degree of assistance to consumers while buying a Suzuki product. 
 
Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director (India) at Suzuki Motorcycle said, “Consumers can now book their favorite Suzuki motorbike with the ease of a click on Paytm. Our dealerships present across the country will be actively involved in giving a great consumer experience to Paytm’s customers while fulfilling the orders.” 
 
This comes at a time when Flipkart is set to offer car and bike related online services including buying and selling cars and bikes. These services have already been rolled out in Bengaluru will be introduced across the country by July 2016. This will not only make online purchasing of vehicles easier but will also boost online sales accessories across the Flipkart platform. 
 
Flipkart started selling both four and two wheelers with the Mahindra KUV100. Besides Mahindra, Flipkart also works with Kawasaki and TVS Motors. 
 
It’s been over two years since auto products were sold by e-commerce players for the first time. Back in December 2014, e-tailer Snapdeal .com has entered into an agreement with two-wheeler giant Hero MotoCorp to sell the auto major's two wheelers on its website. 
 
Last year, 1.5 crore units of two-wheelers were sold in India, which was an increase of 1.2% compared to 2014.
