Vice noted that the condoms are typically left to soak in water for six to eight hours before an individual would drink the water.Dheeman Mandal, an employee at Durgapur Divisional Hospital, told News 18 that the process can be addicting."Condoms contain aromatic compounds. It breaks down to form alcohol. It is addictive. This aromatic compound is also found in dendrites glue. So many people use dendrite for addiction also," Mandal told News 18.Experts told Vice that consuming intoxicating flavored-condom water is not without consequence. "Drinking this water can cause intoxication and addiction. If consumed repeatedly, it will negatively impact the lungs and kidneys, as well as harm the body's nervous system," Joydeep Ghosh, an internal medicine expert at Fortis Hospital, Kolkata, told Vice.Sanjith Saseedharan, the lead of critical care at the SL Raheja Hospital in Mumbai, added in a conversation with Vice that "long-term use of this can lead to mental abnormalities, including violent behavior, unconsciousness, and [in certain cases] even death."

However, it is only now that the brand is entering a segment that most of its competitors are already present in – the flavored condoms segment. In May this year, Durex started a conversation around women’s orgasm and how 70% of women in India don’t orgasm every time during sex. It started a massive conversation on the social media universe with celebrities and influencers joining in. It was a well thought-out campaign that was building up for the launch of its product, Durex Mutual Climax Condoms. For the launch of its three new flavored condoms, Bubblegum, Wild Berries and Vanilla Popsicle, the brand did something similar. It got popular faces like Kenny Sebastian and <keyword id="21659" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="anusha-dandekar">Anusha Dandekar</keyword> to talk about the fact that close to 74% people in India want to try out something new in bed. Along with hosting a chat show that was led by Dandekar, the brand has also come up with a digital campaign and will soon launch some video content around the theme. Why venture into flavors? While Durex is one of the most well-known condom brands across the globe, it is surprising that it took so much time to enter the category where most of its competitors are already present. However, for <keyword id="6467266" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pankaj-Duhan">Pankaj Duhan</keyword>, Chief Marketing Officer, RB Health South Asia, being a late entrant is hardly a concern. “Durex is a very well-known brand, it's a thought leader, it starts conversations and draws a lot of people into the category. In today’s category construct, almost 65% of the category is in flavors and Durex hasn’t played meaningfully in that category segment. So it was logical for us to enter the segment. However, we wanted to launch it in the unique, distinctive way that Durex does without necessarily following the market. So in a category which is full of chocolates and vanillas, we have launched three very different flavors. We have tested it on consumers and the reception has been very positive,” says Duhan. While Durex plays on the premium side of the spectrum, with this launch, the brand is trying to expand its reach. “Our products like Durex Air or Mutual Climax are priced at Rs 200 and Rs 300 respectively for a pack of 10 condoms. However, with this launch, we want to broaden Durex’s appeal, its access and take the brand deeper and make it significantly bigger than what it already is. Therefore, we are pricing these products at Rs 150 for a pack of 10 condoms,” he adds. The anticipated growth Duhan is confident that with its entry into the category, Durex will be able to significantly speed up its growth. Currently, the brand occupies around 12% of the market. “In the past few years, we have succeeded in increasing our market share by 50%. And simply because of the way our past trajectory of success has been, we are actually looking for this new launch to significantly step change versus the past success,” explains Duhan. The brand is looking at going beyond the metros and increasing its presence in smaller cities too.” We are looking at going deeper, both from a conversation and media outreach perspective as well as from a distribution point of view,” he adds. Durex’s marketing strategy He further adds that in terms of marketing, the brand will look at a 360 degree strategy. While he refuses to share the investments that will be made towards pushing the product in the market, he adds that the brand will go all out. “We will go the whole hog on this and money won’t really be a constraining factor,” he shares. He also adds that the campaign will be given a push on digital because that’s the platform where they can have two-way conversations with their consumers. “Our aim is to be able to reach out to our audience and have two-way conversations with them. Therefore the old way of <keyword id="35666" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="advertising">advertising</keyword> only on TV hardly works. The way we have actually gone about some of our recent campaigns have given us substantial business results and is a testament to the fact that when you engage with the consumers, you get them interested and get them to talk to you which is a fantastic way to move forward because there is nothing better than engaging the consumer and having a conversation with them,” he adds. While digital will play a major role in talking about the campaign, the brand will use a 360 degree approach and use TV and OTT channels for its campaign too.

I heard they could rob you of the pleasures of sex and that you should use them for casual sexual encounters only. I wasn't sure what to think, so it was a pleasant surprise to find they made sex better, safer — and helped me plan my pregnancies easily, too. People around the world have used condoms — in one form or another — for centuries. <ul><li>In 3000 BC, Pasiphae, wife of King Minos of Crete, used a goat's bladder as an internal condom <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3649591/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to protect herself</a> during intercourse. </li><li>In the 15th century, people in Asia <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK470385/#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">used oiled silk paper and animal intestines</a> to prevent pregnancy. </li><li>American inventor Charles Goodyear <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3649591/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">introduced vulcanization</a> in 1834 — this technique made the rubber used in condoms more durable. </li><li><a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK470385/#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In the early 20th century</a>, scientists invented latex condoms — which now account for 80% of condom sales.</li><li>Danish inventor Lasse Hessel <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5553993/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reimagined and patented internal condoms</a> in the US in the 1980s. You can use these in the vagina or anus, and they pose a <a href="https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/birth-control/internal-condom/what-are-the-advantages-of-internal-condoms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lower risk of allergies</a>, compared to latex condoms.</li></ul>I am a medical doctor, field <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/careerpaths/k12teacherroadmap/epidemiologists.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">epidemiologist</a>, writer, wife, and mother who has used condoms during every sexual encounter for 15 years, except when trying to conceive. My partner and I started using condoms just to space our kids but grew to like them over time. And though I was a bit skeptical about them at first, they turned out to be amazing in several ways. Here are five reasons why I love them. <h2>1. They can make sex better </h2>While my partner usually wore condoms in our case, I can confirm condoms felt very good for both of us. He says they helped him last longer and enjoy sex more, since he didn't need to attempt a last-minute withdrawal or worry about pregnancy. I found they made sex better for me, too, since they helped me feel confident and safe. I could relax and participate fully when I wasn't worried about getting pregnant or any other unwanted surprises. I no longer had to be asking myself "Am I safe? Am I unsafe?" as I frantically tried to remember the dates of my menstrual cycle.It was also a pleasant suprise to find that some condoms have a dotted, ribbed, or lubricated texture that can even help make sex more pleasurable. We regularly <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/best-lube-for-sex" target="_blank" rel="noopener">use lube liberally</a> on the outside of condoms to reduce friction or dryness — but you can also add a little lube to the inside to increase sensation. We also found condoms came in lovely flavors and scents like chocolate, strawberry, banana, and vanilla. These are designed to mask the taste of latex during oral sex, though you can use most of them for penetrative sex, too. When in doubt, just check the pack for instructions.<h2>2. They make it easier to clean up</h2>Sex can be quite messy, but condoms make it easier for me to clean up without worrying about semen and other vaginal fluids dripping down my thighs — especially when I don't have time for a quick shower. Also, I don't need to douche in an effort to wash the semen away, which protects me from conditions <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7789027/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">linked to douching</a>, like BV and endometriosis.Important: Douching or washing inside your vagina with anything, including soaps, gels, body wash, or even water, can disrupt your vagina's sensitive pH. Though douching won't directly cause STIs, it may <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7789027/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">increase your risk of</a> both STIs and PID. Doctors <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7789027/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recommend using</a> hypoallergenic, soap-free, mild cleansers that protect the delicate balance of vaginal microbes. Just keep in mind you'll only want to use cleansers on your vulva. It's best to avoid using any liquids or soaps in your vagina — your vagina is self-cleaning and has a delicate pH that chemicals can easily disrupt. <h2>3. They help protect you from pregnancy </h2>If used correctly, condoms are among the most effective forms of birth control. They are <a href="https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/birth-control/condom/how-effective-are-condoms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">considered 98% effective</a>, while IUD and implants are considered 99% effective. But I prefer condoms to the other types of contraception such as <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/reproductive-health/birth-control-implant" target="_blank" rel="noopener">implants</a>, <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/reproductive-health/how-does-birth-control-work" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pills</a>, and <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/reproductive-health/what-is-an-iud" target="_blank" rel="noopener">intrauterine devices (IUDs)</a> because they have <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/reproductive-health/birth-control" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fewer side effects</a>, and you only need to use them during sex. For instance, condoms won't cause side effects associated with <a href="https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2787541" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hormonal contraceptives</a> or <a href="https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/birth-control/iud/iud-side-effects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IUDs</a>, such as: <ul><li>Weight gain</li><li>Irregular or heavy periods or spotting between periods</li><li>Nausea</li><li>Cramps</li><li>A drop in libido, or desire for sex</li><li>Acne </li><li>Mood changes </li><li>Headaches </li><li>Increased risk of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)</li></ul>I also recommend condoms to my friends and patients because they're the only kind of contraception that lowers your chances of <a href="https://www.insider.com/surprising-facts-about-pregnancy-2018-9" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pregnancy</a> and <a href="https://www.insider.com/common-std-sti-symptoms-explained-2022-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sexually transmitted infections (STIs)</a> all at once. Another bonus? You don't need a visit to the doctor or a prescription to get a condom. You can purchase them from most drugstores and pharmacies — or even get them free at some clinics, like those owned by the nonprofit <a href="https://www.plannedparenthood.org/planned-parenthood-southwestern-oregon/patient-resources/frequently-asked-questions/do-you-have-free-condoms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Planned Parenthood</a>.Important: If you have a <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/sex-relationships/latex-allergy-condoms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">latex allergy</a>, then latex condoms are out of the question. But condoms come in other materials, like polyurethane. You may even find polyurethane condoms more comfortable, but since they're <a href="https://www.researchgate.net/publication/13073012_Evaluation_of_the_Efficacy_of_a_Polyurethane_Condom_Results_from_a_Randomized_Controlled_Clinical_Trial" target="_blank" rel="noopener">more likely to slip and break</a> than latex, you may want to use a backup method too. <h2>4. They protect you from STIs</h2>There are over <a href="https://apps.who.int/iris/bitstream/handle/10665/112323/WHO_RHR_14.10_eng.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">30 different STIs</a>, and every day, <a href="https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/sexually-transmitted-infections-(stis)#:~:text=Prevention%20of%20STIs&amp;text=Although%20highly%20effective%2C%20condoms%20do,STIs%3A%20hepatitis%20B%20and%20HPV." target="_blank" rel="noopener">more than a million people acquire</a> one. With many of these infections, you won't experience symptoms or know you have an STI. The World Health Organization (WHO) <a href="https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/sexually-transmitted-infections-(stis)#:~:text=Prevention%20of%20STIs&amp;text=Although%20highly%20effective%2C%20condoms%20do,STIs%3A%20hepatitis%20B%20and%20HPV." target="_blank" rel="noopener">supports the use of condoms</a> during anal or vaginal sex for health reasons, though they have other benefits too. I haven't worried about contracting an STI in 15 years. I also recommend condoms to my patients and friends because they provide a safe and effective way to reduce your risk of getting many STIs. And for most people, they have very few downsides. Even when you and your partner get tested regularly, the screening may miss certain hard-to-detect infections, or those still in the <a href="https://health.uoregon.edu/files/STI_screening_timetable.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">incubation period</a>. But <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/sex-relationships/how-to-put-on-a-condom" target="_blank" rel="noopener">using condoms correctly</a> reduces your risk of <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/condomeffectiveness/brief.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">contracting or transmitting STIs</a> like gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and hepatitis B and C — even if you don't know your status or your partner's.Note: Condoms <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/condomeffectiveness/brief.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">are less effective</a> for STIs that involve sores and can be transmitted by skin-to-skin contact, such as syphilis, human papillomavirus (HPV), and genital herpes — though they still lower your risk. The testes can <a href="https://journals.physiology.org/doi/full/10.1152/physrev.00021.2019" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hide and house over 30 different</a> viruses for long periods of time, including: <ul><li>Monkeypox: Researchers have found this virus in semen, so the WHO advises anyone with monkeypox to <a href="https://www.who.int/news-room/questions-and-answers/item/monkeypox" target="_blank" rel="noopener">use condoms for 12 weeks</a> after they recover. </li><li>Zika: This <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/zika/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">viral infection is typically spread by mosquitoes</a>. But you can contract Zika from a partner during sex without a condom, even if they don't have symptoms. Condoms can <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/zika/prevention/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reduce your chances of contracting Zika</a> if your partner has the virus.</li><li>Ebola virus: Male survivors of this rare, often deadly disease can carry the virus in their semen for up to <a href="https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/ebola-virus-disease" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nine months after they recover.</a> The WHO advises survivors to <a href="https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/ebola-virus-disease" target="_blank" rel="noopener">use condoms and wash hands after any contact with semen</a> for at least 12 months after recovery, or until they have two negative semen tests for the virus. </li></ul><h2>5. They protect your genitals</h2>Besides preventing STIs, condoms can also <a href="https://www.health.ny.gov/publications/3831/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reduce your risk</a> of conditions like <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/conditions-symptoms/fishy-vaginal-odor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bacterial vaginosis</a> (BV). Your genitals are pretty sensitive. Because semen comes from an external source, it can disrupt the balance of helpful microbes in a vagina, making it easier for harmful bacteria to multiply — which may <a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34177961/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">contribute to BV</a>.But since condoms prevent semen from reaching the vagina, they can lower the chances of developing this condition.In one study of 871 people with vaginas, researchers found those who used condoms in 10 out of 10 sexual encounters had only <a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17917605/#affiliation-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">about half the chance</a> of developing BV, compared to those who used condoms less frequently. I personally haven't had to deal with BV in the past 15 years, which has been a huge relief.<h2>How to find the right-fitting condom </h2>Condoms that <a href="https://www.insider.com/condom-size-how-to-know-right-fit-expert-advice-2022-3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">don't fit properly can cause discomfort, according to</a> <a href="https://uk.linkedin.com/in/zoya-ali-609ab2186" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Zoya Ali,</a> a reproductive health scientist at <a href="https://hertilityhealth.com/team" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hertility Health</a>. A too-tight condom can break easily, and restrict blood circulation, causing a loss of sensation or your erection. Whereas, a condom that's too big can also reduce sensation — or slip off during sex.Internal condoms are designed as one-size-fits-all, so you don't have to worry about sizing. <ul><li>Reckitt’s Durex has launched its first-ever product innovation for the Indian market, thin flavored condoms.</li><li>It got around 12 influencers to spark conversations on social media about bedroom distancing to create interest around the launch of its new product and advertisement.</li><li>The brand is trying to expand its reach in Tier II and III markets with its latest innovation.</li><li>Dilen Gandhi, Regional Marketing Director, South Asia – Health &amp; Nutrition, Reckitt talks to us about the campaign, larger marketing strategy that has helped Durex become one of the category leaders in less than six years, focus areas for H2 2021, and larger vision for the brand.</li></ul>When Reckitt’s Durex launches a new product in the market, it is hard to miss it because there’s a massive conversation on the social media universe involving multiple A-list influencers and celebrities. The brand knows how to build curiosity and hold consumers’ attention till the very end. Durex usually starts its campaign by giving its consumers a little sneak peek with a poster. To build on this buzz further, the brand shares some intriguing data points which encourage consumers to talk about their own stories. It is followed by a teaser, influencer collaboration, and finally the big reveal - the product advertisement. In the past, Durex had used a similar strategy for its product Durex Mutual Climax Condoms and Invisible Condoms. For the former, it started by telling people on social media that nearly 70% of women in India don’t orgasm every time they have sex. It eventually announced the launch of its product with a campaign. It spoke on the issue of orgasm inequality by normalising conservations and providing product solutions for both men and women so that they #ComeTogether, thereby helping reduce the orgasm gap. For the second product launch, Durex’s Invisible Condoms, it used a counter-intuitive approach and asked consumers to forget condoms. The idea was to create interest around its thinnest condoms. For the launch of Thin Flavoured Condoms that come in Chocolate, Strawberry and Bubble gum, Durex followed a similar route. It divided its campaign into three legs: get people talking on social media about #EndBedroomDistancing, launch the TV spot that employs a metaphor to demonstrate how Durex Extra Thin Flavoured condoms can help end it and the third act of the campaign continues the conversation with memes and influencer posts. The campaign is conceptualised by <keyword id="7001513" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="havas-group-india" source="Orion">Havas Group India</keyword>. The first leg of the campaign saw participation from celebrities and influencers like Harshvardhan Rane, Badshah, Abhijeet, Prateek Babar, with posts on their profiles wondering what’s bedroom distancing. Sharing the insight behind the campaign, Dilen Gandhi, Regional Marketing Director, South Asia – Health &amp; Nutrition, Reckitt said, “The objective of the campaign was to get everyone talking about it. This is the first time we have created an innovation specifically for the Indian market. To make people aware of this innovation, we decided to take the ‘classic Durex route’ -- create a campaign that could actually lead to a lot of conversation. The difference between Durex’s advertising and many other brands is that we put consumers at the heart of our marketing. Our campaigns always have something intriguing, which pulls the consumer in and this time, this whole notion was bedroom distancing. We take something that is topical, this time, unfortunately, it is the notion of social distancing and combine it with something unexpected, which is what leads to conversation. Reduction of distancing here is in with the promise of the product to bring both partners, physically and emotionally, closer.” Durex partnered with 12 influencers and celebrities to create buzz around its launch. It followed a simple filtering system: how popular is the influencer among its target audience, how well does their market image fit with Durex and how credibly will the influencer convey the message. Six years ago, when Reckitt launched Durex, it was competing against Manforce with a 32.4% market share, followed by Moods, Skore, Kamasutra and Kohinoor. In 2017, it onboarded Ranveer Singh to cater to India’s youth. In 2019 came its revolutionary campaign, Orgasm Equality and Durex started working on building an inclusive conversation in the category. With its Bees and the Birds campaign in 2020, Durex upped its marketing strategy by catering to adolescents through art and literature. When most brands in the category objectified women, Durex spent huge marketing dollars changing the narrative, targeting them and establishing itself as a brand that cares about making a difference. Its active moment marketing has also helped Durex stay on top of the mind. According to Neilsen, the condom category is dominated by Manforce with a 32.4% share in value, followed by Durex at 13.8%. We are very focused on ensuring that every marketing dollar that we spend gives us a return in terms of business results. The leading indicator for us is driving conversations, sentiment, reach, and frequency. Ultimately, we are looking at equity.” “Our marketing objective has always been to normalise talking about sex in India. Now, the challenge for us is how do we keep getting better,” added Gandhi. For the rest of 2021, Durex would be focusing on making its Thinnest Flavoured condoms more available in our country and working on campaigns that redefine pleasure “It is more than just a market share game for us. Speaking about why the brand decided to work on this campaign, Rajeev Juneja, CEO, Mankind Pharma, said, “Children are naive and vulnerable and they need to be monitored 24X7, it is the responsibility of the parents to keep their childhood intact. Isinglass gathers stray yeast cells during the fermenting process and solidifies them into them a mass, which floats to the bottom of the barrel for removal.

Some scents, especially those that smell like vanilla, list <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/castoreum-used-in-food-and-perfume-2013-10">castoreum</a> as an ingredient. Castoreum comes from beavers' castor sacs - a gland located between the animal's pelvis and the base of its tail.

They essentially prevent the polymers from sticking to metals during manufacturing and clinging to each other afterward. Some bike tires also contain these elements.

The refining processes for both white and brown sugar often use <a href="http://www.peta.org/about-peta/faq/are-animal-ingredients-included-in-white-sugar/">bone char</a>, a granular material from animal ashes. It gives sugar its white color.

Traditionally, condom production has included the addition of casein, a protein found in animal milk, which acts as a lubricant. Some brands, like <a href="https://www.glydeamerica.com/the-glyde-difference/">GLYDE</a>, however, have gone vegan.
<h3>7. Nail polish</h3>
Shimmery cosmetics, like nail polish or lipstick, contain <a href="http://www.peta.org/living/beauty/animal-ingredients-list/">guanine</a> (sometimes listed as "pearl essence"), one of the four base components of RNA and DNA. Companies obtain it from fish (notably, herring) scales.

As part of the rendering industry, which disposes of otherwise unused animal waste, the creation of crayons often includes animal fat, according to a <a href="http://www.naturalnews.com/025130_food_animals_Congress.html#">2004 Congressional report</a>.

<h3>10. Red candy</h3>
Red cochineal beetles, when dried and crushed, produce a powder called <a href="http://www.livescience.com/9251-foods-beetles.html">carmine</a>, used as an all-encompassing dye in red foods like candy, ice cream, and yogurt. Though it previously slipped under the radar as "artificial coloring," the FDA has required manufacturers to explicitly list carmine on food labels since early 2011.
<a href="http://www.vrg.org/blog/2010/11/30/q-a-on-shellac/">Edible shellac</a>, also known as confectioner's glaze, coats most hard, shiny candy, with the notable exception of M&amp;Ms. It's made from the excretions of female lac bugs (Kerria lacca).

Green says if you're using certain substances during sex — like dyed, scented, or flavored lubricants — this can lead to itching, irritation, and potentially a rash on the vulva. So if you have sex while you have a yeast infection, you can further irritate yourself and feel symptoms intensify during or after sex. How to treat it: First off, you should avoid having sex until the infection is under control to have sex, Sophocles says. <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/treatments/home-remedies-for-yeast-infections">To treat the infection</a>, you can use over-the-counter antifungal topical medications that you can apply internally or externally. "If the yeast infection doesn't improve with OTC meds, a clinician can prescribe prescription-strength creams or pills," Sophocles says. <h2>5. Bacterial vaginosis (BV)</h2>Green says some people experience BV after intercourse because the vagina's typical acidity, or pH, can get thrown off after sex, resulting in an environment where Gardnerella bacteria can overgrow, leading to BV."Patients will notice an increase in grayish, <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/conditions-symptoms/fishy-vaginal-odor">fishy-smelling vaginal discharge</a>, and many often report itching as well," Green says. How to treat it: Prescription medications treat bacterial overgrowth associated with BV. Green says one of the most commonly prescribed meds is an antibiotic called metronidazole which is available as oral medication or inserted into the vagina. Other <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/bacterial-vaginosis/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20352285" target="_blank" rel="noopener">treatment</a> options are meds such as:<ul><li>Clindamycin</li><li>Tinidazole</li><li>Secnidazole</li></ul><h2>6. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)</h2>Oftentimes, STIs do not cause any symptoms. However, in people who do get symptoms, itchiness can be one of them — and having sex while having an STI can make symptoms like inflammation and itchiness much worse, Sophocles says.
