More than 24 people were killed and 25 injured after two trains, Kamayani Express and Janata Express, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=derail">derailed</a> while crossing a bridge over swollen Machal river in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=madhya+pradesh">Madhya Pradesh</a>. 
 
The incident happened at 11.30 pm on Tuesday when seven coaches of Kamayani Express, bound for Varanasi, and five bogies of Janata Express, bound for Mumbai, were crossing the bridge in Harda, some 160 km from Bhopal. 
 
The toll is expected to go further up. The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=indian+railways">Railways</a> has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased, Rs 50,000 to grievously injured and Rs 25,000 to those with minor injuries. 
 
Meanwhile, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=shivraj+singh+chouhan">Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan</a> will visit the site later in the day. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Nitish+Kumar">Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar</a> also condoled the deaths. 
 
"Seven bogies of Kamayani Express and engine plus three coaches of Janata Express were derailed between Khirkiya and Bhirangi stations near Harda. The mishap took place around 11.30 PM on Tuesday as base material of the tracks got washed away in heavy rains. Nearly 25 passengers suffered injuries," West Central Railway PRO Piyush Mathur told news agency PTI. 
 
Search operations have been launched and few coaches also fell in the river. Bhopal Railway PRO told PTI that more than 250 passengers were rescued so far. 
 
Meanwhile, Minister of State of Railways Ministry Manoj Sinha said it was not a manmade disaster but a natural calamity.

Drones are key. They do away with the human effort of the ground team to manually climb and check each location. This is important because it goes a long way in simplifying the operation. <keyword id="6354474" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="drone">Drone</keyword> usage in India, even by government authorities, is hardly prevalent. At most it's being used for<a href="http://www.dnaindia.com/mumbai/report-govt-plans-to-use-drones-for-spatial-survey-across-maharashtra-2635229"> spatial surveys</a> and<a href="https://factordaily.com/drones-for-precision-agriculture-in-india/"> precision agriculture</a>. Urban flooding, a paradigm that India is still grappling with, could find real relief in such a measure. For example, Grundfos India<a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/chennai/Grundfos-mobile-pumping-station-used-in-Chennai-to-pump-out-flood-water/articleshow/50140951.cms"> provides</a> the Chennai City Corporation with mobile pumping stations that are specifically designed for floods. Even Mumbai<a href="http://www.freepressjournal.in/mumbai/mumbai-rains-crores-spent-on-procurrement-of-pumps-flowed-into-the-floods/1128756"> spends</a> crores on pumps to dewater the city. 4. Calling Houston The devices that were originally used to contact the missing football team weren't new-age, but actually 20-years old. Issued by Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation, these HeyPhones can<a href="https://hub.packtpub.com/the-tech-supporting-the-thai-cave-rescue-mission/"> operate</a> on such a low frequency that those waves can pass through thick rock walls. More than that, the Thai rescue team also got in touch with Maxtech Networks, an Israeli communication company. Floods are not a new phenomenon in India and the headline has, too often, been that poor preparedness is what caused of the disaster. Integrating some tech, making information more public and having some sort of integrated system in place are only the most basic of requirements.

Here's what India can learn from the Thailand cave rescue

The ongoing <keyword id="107481" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="cross-border">cross border</keyword> tension between <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> and <keyword id="3001" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pakistan">Pakistan</keyword> in <keyword id="6354495" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="kashmir">Kashmir</keyword> has disrupted the trade in the valley and their counterparts in Pakistan. 
	 
	“As far as the cross border trade is concerned, it has totally come to a standstill. In general, the trade got severely affected because of the floods and the traders suffered a substantial loss. We cannot quote a figure because we still do not know the magnitude of the loss,” Rakesh Gupta, president of Jammu Chamber of Commerce told BI India. 
	 
	He added that the trading communities in both the countries have not exchanged any communication because of the ongoing tension. 
	“Nothing was practically done even before to address the absence of a proper banking system on both the sides of the LOC. In the present scenario, we cannot expect anything to even move an inch because the armies from both the ends are trading fires at each other,” noted Gupta. 
	 
	The facilities provided to the traders were also withdrawn because of the cross border firing. Commenting on the issue, Ajay Sahai, director general and CEO of Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) said that it has been working closely with the government and the industry bodies in Pakistan to enhance the trade relations between the two countries. 
	 
	“This kind of tension discourages those who are new in the business. But what is worse is the fact that the border tension has postponed the number of talks that were lined up between the governments for better facilitation of trade. The future has been put on the back burner,” noted Sahai. 
	 
	On being questioned on the measures taken by the apex body of the exporters, Sahai told BI India that the government knows best in the present situation. 
	 
	Last month, the association had, in fact, facilitated an exhibition for Karachi Chamber of Commerce in Mumbai, which had seen massive participation from Pakistan’s traders. “We are planning a trade fair in Pakistan in February or March next year and are expecting 75 to 100 participants,” Sahai added. 
	 
	Apart from the border tension, the recent flash flood in the state has also disrupted the cross border trade between the two countries. Gupta averred that due to the flash floods, the payment system in the valley has come to a halt. “Everything was destroyed in the floods. Also, the sales in the main markets in the state are also negligible. People are purchasing bare minimum necessities,” stated Gupta. 
	 
	According to the statistics by ministry of commerce and industry, the total export to Pakistan in 2013-14 was $2,274.26 million, registering a growth of over 10% over $2,064.79 million. The exports to Pakistan make up less than 1% of the total exports of the country. 
	 
	On the other hand, the imports from Pakistan were only $426.88 million in FY 14, posting a decline by 21.22% over $541.87 million in FY 13. The import from Pakistan comprised a negligible amount of the total imports of India. 
	 
	India exports cotton, soya oil meal, vegetables, tomatoes and tea to Pakistan through rail and road routes. A total of 21 items which includes 
	fruits, vegetables, dry fruits, spices, fabric, carpets and many others are allowed to be traded across the LOC. 
	 
	The total trade between India and Pakistan has grown by 3.62% from $2,606.66 million in 2012-13 to $2,701.15 million in 2013-14.
