These participants were not professional writers, and their innate creative potential was measured using a standard psychological test that required them to list 10 drastically different words. The volunteers were then randomly divided into three groups, each tasked with writing an eight-sentence story on one of three themes: an ocean adventure, a jungle expedition or a journey to another planet. Participants were also assigned to one of three groups with varying levels of AI assistance. The first group received no help, the second was given a three-sentence story prompt from ChatGPT, and the third group could access up to five AI-generated story ideas to inspire their writing. After completing their stories, participants evaluated their own creativity based on novelty, enjoyment and the potential of the idea to be developed into a published book. Additionally, 600 external reviewers assessed the stories using the same criteria, providing an objective evaluation of the creative works. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Good for one, bad for all" comment="subhead" text="Good for one, bad for all">Good for one, bad for all</cmsannotation> After analysing the findings, the researchers discovered that on average, AI could enhance an individual writer's creativity by up to 10% and the story's enjoyability by 22%. It achieved this feat by improving elements like structure and plot twists. These benefits were most pronounced for writers initially deemed the least creative, suggesting that AI helps level the playing field by boosting their creative output. But on a collective level, AI-assisted stories tended to resemble each other more closely than those created without AI. This was largely down to writers ‘anchoring’ their narratives too heavily to the AI-suggested ideas. In essence, these findings indicate that while AI may help improve individual creativity, its use risks diminishing collective novelty. According to study authors, this creates a social dilemma: <keyword id="22428188" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="AI-use" source="keywords">AI use</keyword> breaks down entry barriers and allows more people to participate, which is a huge positive. But on the flip side, it decreases the collective novelty of art, narrowing the scope of diverse creative content being produced—a big no-no. This also means that early adoption of as well as over-reliance on AI tools could hinder the development of fundamental skills in writing, music and other creative fields, similar to how early use of calculators might impede learning basic arithmetic. Jonathan Bachman/GettyAaron Gordon was eliminated from the dunk contest after two rounds.On February 19, Aaron Gordon experienced one of the lowest moments of his young career.Tasked with headlining the 2017 All-Star Dunk Contest after a jaw-dropping performance in 2016, the 21-year-old Orlando Magic forward simply couldn't get a dunk to go down.On a big stage with thousands of people watching, Gordon repeatedly missed his dunks, falling out of the competition after just two rounds.Afterward, Gordon was down on himself. In a hotel room in New Orleans, Graham Betchart was there to pick him back up."Guess what," Betchart told Gordon. "We're still talking. So that means you're not dead. ... You didn't die." It was just a dunk contest, Betchart stressed. There's more to life.Gordon and Betchart didn't need to talk much, but for Gordon, having worked with Betchart, his mental coach, for many years, the experience of learning to pick himself up and move on helped him get over the incident.Increasingly, around the NBA, other players are looking toward Betchart to learn those same skills.Via Graham BetchartAaron Gordon (right) has known Graham Betchart since he was 11.<h2>'We're not trying to save a 25-year-old, we're trying to train a 15-year-old'</h2>In today's era of the NBA, players are specializing every skill. Players might have a shooting coach, a ball-handling coach, a nutritionist, a strength coach - all to zero in on specific skills and enhance their careers. As the competition mounts across all areas of the league, players need new areas to gain an edge. The next step: mastering the mental side of things.Betchart, 38, was intrigued by the idea of sports psychology in the early 2000s and sensed there was a developing market for mental coaching. He began his career by working with youth basketball teams, teaching the idea of being mentally strong, washing away nerves, pressure, and fear of failure at various camps. Betchart developed his own company, Play Present, even writing a book of the same title on the subject in 2015. In 2016, Betchart sold Play Present to Lucid, a Bay Area-based mental training app for athletes that costs $99.99 a year, for an undisclosed amount, <a href="https://sports.vice.com/en_us/article/meet-the-sports-psychologist-training-the-minds-of-the-nbas-top-draft-prospects">according to Vice</a>.Over the years, Betchart has built an impressive clientele in the NBA, the result of the tiresome job of preaching his ideas to young basketball players. Betchart now works with a list of players including Gordon, Philadelphia's Ben Simmons, Minnesota's Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins, and Zach LaVine, Boston's Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart, Dallas' Dwight Powell, and many others.Betchart said that early on, he stressed teaching young players who are more driven and focused. Then, as they worked toward being a professional, he was there to help them. Additionally, it's easier to teach these ideas to younger players, he said."We all go through stuff in life, right? Life is full of stuff that happens. We're gonna go through hard times, that's totally normal," Betchart told Business Insider. "But if they get to 25 years old or so, mid-20s, and they have a lot of these tools, and they've done a lot of the mental training and they're aware and they know how to be present and they know how to deal with feelings, then they're gonna deal with these situations that occur in life much better, and they're not gonna completely derail them."He added: "We're not trying to save a 25-year-old, we're trying to train a 15-year-old, which is a much different philosophy."Powell, like most of Betchart's clients, met Betchart at a young age when Betchart was speaking to his team at Stanford. Powell was skeptical of Betchart's ideas, but as his career went on, he, too, wanted to find another way to gain an edge on the competition."You realize there's only so much you can do as far as putting in time every day on the court or in the weight room or watching film," Powell told Business Insider. "You have to really maximize it, so the mental side helps you take full advantage of the time that you spend working on your craft. I think it's those periods in your career where you kind of see plateaus or even dips in development, I think that's when you start looking for answers or and you start kind of looking back through kind of your Rolodex of things you've done in the past."Betchart's day-to-day routine has changed since getting acquired by Lucid. He says he works more on the promotional side of things and records audio lessons for the app at his home studio. After years of working in what he calls "start-up mode," he's thankful for the change, noting that trying to form relationships with players, traveling, and making a footprint in the basketball world had put a strain on his life.However, Betchart still maintains relationships with those players and is there when they need to talk."My work with athletes is pretty random," Betchart said. "They'll just text you and wanna check in. They'll give you a call randomly. ... There's no real routine with the players I work with except that they know I'm here. ... It's just being available and being there when they call." David Zalubowski/APMavericks forward Dwight Powell was skeptical of mental coaching, but has embraced it recently.<h2>'Focus on things they can control and let go of everything else'</h2>Betchart's lessons vary, but they all seem to have one underlying message - don't stress over what you can't control. For NBA players, that can be a multitude of things."They'll come to you with a situation that's out of their control, like coaches, like referees, like a contract, or for the simple matter that nothing is fair in basketball. There is no fair. It doesn't work like that," said Betchart."So, what you're really helping them do is learn to focus on things they can control and let go of everything else. It's hard because you basically don't control anything. You control your ability to focus on this moment, be present, and then focus on the task at hand."Gordon, who met Betchart when he was 11, was almost immediately intrigued by the idea of mental coaching."I was open-minded and inquisitive as a kid, so I was all for it," Gordon said. "I'm a very analytical and contemplative person, so sometimes that gets in the way of basketball. What I was looking for was to really think the game, as an intellect, but then once you get on the court, let that go, feel free and flow, and play the game."Gordon said one of the lessons he values most is the idea of having a "next-play mentality" - whatever happened happened, so move onto the next play. That can be an important lesson off the court, too. Betchart said after LaVine tore his ACL in February, he was almost immediately on the phone with the young Wolves guard and his agent, plotting the surgery, rehab, and how to move on.Powell said he enjoys the lesson of visualization - imagining a play or game beforehand, envisioning what he wants to do, then going out and trying to do it."When he first walked us through visualizations and talked to us about the value of them and how to prepare your mind ... I was very skeptical because I thought I'm just playing a movie in my head," Powell laughed. "But that's something I continue to even do on a more frequent basis, rather than just before the game. It's before each play, before each scenario, you kinda can walk yourself through it. It calms you down, it prepares you and I think it's something really valuable."<h2>'An iron fist and a velvet fist at the same time'</h2>Betchart's lessons must strike a fine line between compassion and competitiveness, as he puts it. There's room for understanding, but often times, players have to accept a "deal-with-it" type of mentality."You have to have an iron fist and a velvet fist at the same time, and you have to know when to use them both," Betchart said. "You have to use these two words at the same time together: competitive compassion. And I try to teach them these two words. Competitive: you have to want that ball. You have to want to want it more than that person next to you if you want a rebound. And then you have to develop compassion, that if you go for it, you go all-in, whatever happens after that, who cares? Be at peace. Because you might go all in, do everything right, and that person next to you is simply better... If you beat yourself up after that and you're hard on yourself, you're not gonna make it."The message seems to be resonating with players. Boston's Jaylen Brown says the training has helped him develop in his first pro season. Powell said he finds himself using the lessons more and more. Gordon says the lessons have helped him think about his future after basketball."Lucid gives me the confidence to believe in myself enough to where after my career I have a capability and potential to be anything I wanna be," said Gordon, who is also a spokesman for the company. "And that goes with understanding who I am as a human being. So they go hand-in-hand."Powell and Gordon both would recommend the idea of mental coaching to other players, young and old alike. However, perhaps Brown best summarized the impact of this emerging skill."I wouldn't recommend it because I'm trying to beat some of those players out. I don't want them to pick up on the stuff [that helps] me get a mental edge. A 38-year-old mental coach has become one of the NBA's premier resources for an emerging skill

Didn't they realize it was fake? Who cares about guys fake fighting in a ring with a system of rules that are followed at a comically low rate? As a kid, I was no fun and the worst.But in college I tagged along to a party for WrestleMania 30 and was immediately hooked -&#xa0;the entrances, the over-the-top characters, and the drama that inherently comes with any event being broadcast live in front of millions of people was immediately captivating.Chances are you've noticed an uptick in wrestling coverage in mainstream media. WWE athletes are now somewhat regular features on ESPN, and among sports journalists being a wrestling fan is almost as common as keeping up with "The Bachelor."As you might've heard by now, WrestleMania 33 takes place this Sunday in Orlando, Florida. It's a stacked card, filled with matches that could surely make instant fans out of a few of you, just as it happened to me three years ago. And since I'm willing to bet there are more than a few people out there still bewildered, yet curious at the idea of wrestling, and maybe you're not lucky enough to have a friend who will invite you to his or her Mania party, feel free to consider this your invitation.Below is a breakdown of the storylines heading into Sunday. I do my best to introduce you to the stories as they stand before the match, what's at stake, what fans expect to happen, and what could leave people in shock. Because if there's one thing I've learned watching wrestling, it's that when the lights are on, anything can happen.<h3>The Hosts of WrestleMania: The New Day</h3>The story going in: The New Day are the most entertaining act in wrestling, full stop. Since uniting under what is best described as a gospel choir gimmick, Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods were given a degree of freedom rarely seen in the WWE, embraced the power of positivity, and became the longest reigning champions in Tag Team history. Since dropping their title, they've held on to their pizzazz while searching for a new place show off their talent.&#xa0;What's at stake: Very little. The role of "host" at WrestleMania is rarely used, with Hulk Hogan and The Rock as the most notable masters of ceremonies in the past. The New Day will come out, get cheered like you can't believe, and leave the crowd extremely excited for what is to come.What to expect: Dancing, joy, and hopefully a trombone.Potential shocker: There is a very slight chance that The New Day get involved in some chicanery. They could potentially interfere with the Raw Tag Team Championship, or possibly mix it up with the Hardys, one of the best tag teams in the world whose recently rumored return to the WWE is a poorly kept secret. But chances are anything this insane would happen the next night on RAW.<h3>Gallows &amp; Anderson (c) v Enzo &amp; Cass v Cesaro &amp; Sheamus</h3>The story going in: Gallows and Anderson are powerhouses from New Japan Pro Wrestling that debuted with WWE last year and have finally claimed the Raw Tag Team Championship. Cesaro and Sheamus are an odd couple pairing of in-ring workhorses that started off as enemies before finding common ground in a shared love of beating the crap out of people. Enzo Amore and Big Cass are fan favorites who while showing strength on the main roster have yet to claim their first title.What's at stake: The RAW Tag Team Championship&#xa0;What to expect: Enzo and Cass have an entrance that you have to see (embedded above for your viewing pleasure!) to believe, and at WrestleMania there will be 50,000 people chanting along with Enzo Amore as he proclaims himself as " A Certified G, and a Bonafide Stud." It's going to be great. The match itself is a ladder match, so you can look forward to a few high spots. Gallows and Anderson can both give out and take a beating, so be ready for some hard hits. And chances are Cesaro swings somebody and Sheamus gives someone a boot to the face. In my fantasy, Enzo and Cass will climb to the top of the ladder and finally claim their titles, but a lot could happen in this one.Potential shocker: Back when they wrestled in New Japan, Gallows and Anderson were both members of "The Club," a crew of bad guys that brought havoc to anyone that dared to cross their path. Since their move to WWE, a few other members of The Club have followed, including AJ Styles and Finn Balor. Fans have been waiting for the moment The Club would reunite to take over WWE, and while I highly highly doubt it happens here, it's something to look for in the near future.<h3>Dean Ambrose (c) v Baron Corbin</h3>The story going in: Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin are both bad dudes that don't really like each other. This is wrestling distilled.What's at stake: The Intercontinental TitleWhat to expect: Baron Corbin is the younger guy here and less well established but shows a ton of promise, so chances are he comes away with the title in a show of strength. Dean Ambrose cut his teeth in hardcore matches that are too bloody to believe, so this match has the potential to get pretty crazy. Baron Corbin's finisher, "End of Days," is one of my favorites in wrestling and Dean will sell it like a million bucks.Potential shocker: Blood. Blood is not something that happens a ton in modern WWE, but knowing these two there's a chance we see some color in this match, which would be notable.<h3>Chris Jericho (c) v Kevin Owens</h3>The story going in: OH MAN WHERE TO BEGIN. Chris Jericho is a legend in wrestling and involved in any conversation for the best to ever enter the squared circle. Kevin Owens made it to WWE last year after being an indie sensation, and quickly made his mark after pinning John Cena clean in his debut. The duo got together and quickly became best friends, staying true to each other and putting any potential enemies on "The List of Jericho" which Chris dutifully kept on his clipboard. After a run of success where both men stood as champions, Jericho decided that they deserved a "Festival of Friendship" to celebrate the glory that they had gained together. Then, in a turn that shocked the WWE Universe, Kevin Owens turned on Jericho, leaving the former best friends as mortal enemies, destined to fight at WrestleMania.What's at stake: The United States Championship. The Future of Friendship.What to expect: This could be the match of the night. Despite his age, Jericho is down for anything (he took a body slam into tacs last year), and he will want to do anything and everything to make KO look amazing. I'm hoping this match gets at least 20 minutes and becomes an instant classic.Potential shocker: Kevin Owens has a plethora of moves that he honed in his indie days that he still hasn't shown off in the WWE. We could see some amazingly dangerous and beautiful flying here. Also, a powerbomb from the top rope is well in play - you'll know it when you see it.<h3>Bailey (c) v Charlotte Flair v Sasha Banks v Nia Jax</h3>The story going in: Bayley, the perennial underdog who fights with all her might to overcome the odds is the RAW Women's Champion, thanks in part to a little help from her good friend Sasha Banks. Charlotte Flair, daughter of Hall of Famer Ric Flair is a former champion that is probably the most impressive woman currently in WWE. Nia Jax is a giant that towers over all three of her opponents.What's at stake: The RAW Women's ChampionshipWhat to expect: This match could go so many ways. It's an elimination match as opposed to a traditional Fatal Fourway, meaning the champion will be the last woman standing as opposed to the first to score a pinfall or submission. Expect Nia to toss her opponents around and land more than one Samoan Drop, but other than that, anyone could take the title here.Potential shocker: Sasha Banks could turn on Bayley, which would be absolutely heartbreaking. There are few people as positive and loving as Bayley (her shirts are often emblazoned with the words "I'm a Hugger"), and to see her best friend slam her to the ground would be devastating, but also extremely entertaining.<h3>John Cena &amp; Nikki Bella v The Miz &amp; Maryse</h3>The story going in:&#xa0;It's a tale of two couples. Cena and Bella are two of the biggest names in wrestling and rightfully so, while The Miz and Maryse are both self-absorbed with their own greatness. It's been an amazing storyline to follow because it's very real, see above for some of the low blows The Miz has fired off at Cena.&#xa0;What's at stake: A lot of bragging rights. The Miz has already pinned Cena at WrestleMania before, and Cena is not a man that like to lose twice in a row to an opponent on wrestling's biggest stage.What to expect: A whole lot of fun. Few characters are as compelling as The Miz on mic, and Cena will not be looking to let the crowd down. Nikki Bella has a ton of talent as a wrestler while Maryse is well practiced at the art of pulling off cheap moves without the referee noticing.&#xa0;Potential shocker: Women and men rarely enter the ring against each other in the WWE Universe - even in intergender matches like this one. But The Miz is quite a weasel in the ring, and Nikki Bella can take a hit… a combination that could lead to a very angry John Cena.<h3>Shane McMahon v AJ Styles</h3>The story going in: AJ Styles, The Phenomenal One, has been the best wrestler on the roster since his debut at the Royal Rumble last year. He's been the leading draw on SmackDown Live, and put on absolutely incredible matches - he's a guy you have to see to believe. His opponent at Mania is Shane McMahon, commissioner of SmackDown Live and son of WWE Uberlord Vincent K McMahon. AJ has been disrespected, and is angry (rightfully so!) that he does not have a title match at Mania, and recently showed his frustration by putting Shane through a car window. Shane recovered, and challenged Styles to settle their differences in the ring.What's at stake: The balance of power at SmackDown LiveWhat to expect: Absolute insanity. Shane McMahon is known less as a wrestler and more as a madman. While he's far from a regular in-ring competitor, when he does enter the squared circle, Shane-O-Mac is fearless in terms of putting his body on the line. He's jumped from the top of cages and broken through more walls and windows than the Kool-Aid man. AJ Styles is something of a daredevil himself, and with a few weeks preparation there is no telling what could happen in terms of carnage.Potential shocker: When Mania opens, scan the set for the highest spot in the arena. Shane might jump off of it.<h3>Triple H v Seth Rollins</h3>The story going in: Seth Rollins was chosen by Triple H as the heir apparent to the throne of evil wrestler, with both men using The Pedigree as their finishing move of choice. But Triple H turned on Seth, enlisting the help of Samoa Joe to break Rollins into pieces. The plan worked, with Rollins sustaining a real injury that has kept him out of action for weeks now. Rollins is still not cleared to perform, but Triple H challenged him to a non-sanctioned match and had Seth sign a "Hold Harmless Agreement" that assures that he can't sue Triple H if he&#xa0;does irreperable damage.What's at stake: Seth Rollins legWhat to expect: Seth will figure out a way to pull this out. Triple H is evil, but Seth is one of the best wrestlers in the company and needs to land on his feet after a few recent injuries. Ideally, the duo will trade pedigrees much to the crowd's delight.Potential shocker: Samoa Joe might&#xa0;show up in an effort to aid Trpile H and help finish what he started.<h3>The Undertaker v Roman Reigns</h3>The story going in:&#xa0;The Undertaker is a force at WrestleMania, having only lost on wrestling's biggest stage once in his entire career. The story on Roman Reigns is that he has been chosen by management to be the next face of the WWE, and many fans hate him for it. In recent weeks Taker and Roman have been claiming ownership of the "yard," an abstract concept that you learn to accept because The Undertaker says it matters and you do not question The Undertaker under any circumstances.What's at stake:&#xa0;The proverbial "Yard," possibly the career of The UndertakerWhat to expect:&#xa0;The latest rumor is this match might go on last, which will undoubtedly fuel speculation that this is Taker's last match ever. That makes picking a winner even tougher - legends like to "go out on their back," losing their last match in order to help make an up-and-comer look strong, but if WWE really let Roman put Taker in the ground the arena will be filled with some of the loudest boos you've ever heard.Potential shocker:&#xa0;Braun Strowman, another former Wyatt brother and essentially a giant, has inserted himself into a few moments leading into this match, so there's a chance he shows up unannounced and tries to dig a few graves of his own.<h3>Bray Wyatt (c) v Randy Orton</h3>The story going in: Bray Wyatt is something of a cult leader out of season one of "True Detective" and had temporarily recruited The Viper Randy Orton to be a part of the family. Orton betrayed Wyatt and is now using the title opportunity promised to him after his win at the Royal Rumble to take down his former brother. Also, a few weeks ago Orton burnt down Bray's house for good measure.What's at stake: The WWE World Heavyweight ChampionshipWhat to expect: A great match. These are two wrestlers who can really work.Potential shocker: A few former members of the Wyatt family - Luke Harper and Erick Rowan - could both potentially insert themselves into this match to sway it one way or the other. The question is, if they do come down the ramp, whose side will they be on?<h3>Goldberg (c) v Brock Lesnar</h3>The story going in: Two of the most powerful forces in wrestling collide, this time with a title on the line. Goldberg shocked the WWE Universe at SummerSlam when he destroyed Brock Lesnar in seconds. When the pair faced each other down in the Royal Rumble back in January, the story was much of the same -&#xa0;Lesnar entered the ring and within seconds was speared, thrown over the top rope, and eliminated. In this rematch, Lesnar will be looking to take revenge and send Goldberg to Suplex City.What's at stake: The WWE Universal TitleWhat to expect: Brock Lesnar does not lose all that often, and I'm not sure off the top of my head if anyone has ever beaten him twice. After being caught off guard twice in a row by spears to start the match, I'm thinking Lesnar has the move scoped out and is going to be ready for it this time.Potential shocker: First, there is a chance that Goldberg beats Lesnar once again, and WWE leans into a story line where Goldberg "has his number!" for lack of a better term. This would be shocking. Goldberg is not expected to remain a regular attraction much longer, and again, no one beats Brock twice.BONUS Potential shocker: Last year my favorite performer Finn Balor was called up from NXT and shotgunned right to the top, defeating Seth Rollins at SummerSlam to become the first ever WWE Universal Champion. Sadly, in the match that won him the title, he sustained a shoulder injury that has kept him out of competition since. It was truly devastating. Today, thanks to social media and reports from house shows, we know that Finn is now back in fighting shape, although he has yet to be seen on camera yet. While I expect them to save it for RAW the next day, there is a chance that after Brock wins the title and is standing tall in the middle of the ring, the lights suddenly fall dark and The Demon enters. A Beginner's Guide to WrestleMania

<div class="KonaFilter image-container float_right"><div class="image"></div></div>When you're in the hot seat answering questions such as, "<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/hiring-managers-ask-why-youre-leaving-job-2014-7" target="_blank">What's your greatest weakness</a>?" and, "Why should we hire you?" - a query like, "What are your hobbies?" will probably seem like a piece of cake.
But before you start babbling about your lifelong obsession with horses or your newfound passion for baking, consider this: The hiring manager wants to get a better sense of who you are, so it's important to think about which hobbies best showcase your strengths, passions, and skills - and then only discuss those in the interview.
"The employer is trying to determine whether you'd be a good fit, and getting insight into your interests, hobbies, and personality all help in evaluating that," says Amy Hoover, president of the job board <a href="http://www.talentzoo.com/">TalentZoo</a>. 
Lynn Taylor, a national workplace expert and the author of "<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Tame-Your-Terrible-Office-Tyrant/dp/0470457643/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1248186483&amp;sr=8-1">Tame Your Terrible Office Tyrant: How to Manage Childish Boss Behavior and Thrive in Your Job</a>," agrees. "By learning more about your outside interests, they can glean more about your personality, and even draw some conclusions about how you may thrive in the organization."
For example, if you like to paint in your spare time, and you're interviewing for an account executive position with an advertising agency, your creative flair might be viewed as an asset when working with your creative counterparts, Taylor explains.
Or, if you're involved in orchestrating community events, where organizational skills are critical, that would translate well into a promotional or event planning type of position.
"That said, they are also looking for well-rounded individuals, so you don't want to limit your pursuits to only those that relate directly to your career," Taylor says. 
While there are no wrong answers per se, there are some smart choices you can make when answering this question in an interview, Hoover explains.
Here's what interviewers are really looking for when they ask about your hobbies:
1. That you're team oriented. 
"Since most jobs involve a certain level of group interaction and support - and cross functional work teams continue to thrive - any kind of activity that you do in your spare time that demonstrates your ability to be a team player, such as playing a team sport or working with a group on a volunteer project, would be well perceived by your prospective boss," Taylor says.
2. That you possess strong leadership skills.
"If you lead a group in a leisure activity, such as anything from a book or hiking club to a charitable effort or community activity, that speaks well to your ability to lead on the job," Taylor explains. Not all jobs require leadership or management talent, but those kinds of activities project the desire to make a difference. 
3. That you actively work on honing your skills.
If you stay with a particular leisure pursuit, and try to better yourself - which could relate to anything from artistic or musical talents, to bettering your communications, writing, or research skills - you will likely be viewed as having perseverance. "And that would certainly be viewed as a plus in the position at hand," says Taylor.
4. That you're well rounded. 
Hiring managers like to know that you have an array of interests and are not just focused on the type of work you do 24/7. "It's assumed that if you engage in a diverse assortment of hobbies, you may be better equipped to manage a broader array of experiences and people on the job," she says. However, be careful not to list out too many hobbies. This can imply that you're indecisive; you don't commit adequate time to each hobby; and that you're stretched too thin. 
5. That you're able to set and stick to goals. 
Hiring managers like to see applicants who set goals in their leisure pursuits. "For example, they want to see that you enjoy completing a project and have the desire to reach certain milestones in your leisure activities," says Taylor. "Goal-setting is essential in any job, as managers like to see that you have a sense of purpose and determination to reach goals that you've mutually established." 
So, if you're training for a 5K run or taking a class in an area that you wish to excel, this is the time to talk about it.
6. That you're passionate.
If you're excited about your leisure pursuits, it can show a side of you that interviewers typically appreciate and value. "You're demonstrating that you are capable of enjoying what you do and being passionate about it, whether inside or outside of the office," Taylor says.
7. That you're not too passionate.
"If you talk about how passionate you are about a particular hobby to the point where it sounds as if you want to make that your primary career, that may send up a red flag," Taylor explains. For example, if you're interviewing for a sales position at a software company, it's fine to mention your interest in fashion. "But if you wax on about how invigorating it is to keep up on fashion trends and pursue fashion related activities on the weekends, you could do yourself a disservice at the job interview," she says. "It might be perceived that you would be happier in that industry."
8. That you won't be distracted at work.
You may have a few entrepreneurial interests on the side. "Even if you claim that such endeavors have nothing to do with the job at hand, you are still raising a red flag," Taylor says. "No interviewer wants to feel as if you're just trying to gain a salary or work experience until you're ready to launch your own business."
9. That you do, in fact, have interests outside of work.
Here's a terrible response to this question: "I have no real specific outside interests. I'm just too busy."
This tells the employer that you're a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/workaholics-and-high-performers-2014-6" target="_blank">workaholic</a> (which isn't a good thing!) and that you don't take time outside of work to refuel and recharge by doing the things you enjoy.
"Overall, the best policy is to bring up leisure pursuits that speak to your team orientation, good people skills, tenacity, and thirst for knowledge in the areas in which you are passionate," Taylor says.
Also, try not to emphasize hobbies that can be construed as vices, such as wine tastings, craft beer making, or cigar clubs, says Hoover. "And finally, please do not say 'Facebook' or 'social media.' Those aren't hobbies; they're distractions - especially at work."
