Budget airline <keyword id="11252024" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="go-first" source="Orion">Go First</keyword> has cancelled all its flights till May 28, citing operational reasons. Earlier, the airlines had cancelled flights till May 26. In a note posted on Twitter on Friday, the airline said, "We regret to inform that due to operational reasons, <keyword id="11937496" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="go-first-flights" source="Orion">Go First flights</keyword> scheduled till May 28, 2023, have been cancelled. We apologise for the convenience caused by the flight cancellations." The airline also said a full refund will be issued to the original mode of payment shortly. The airline also said the company has filed an application for immediate resolution and revival of operations. It mentioned that it would be able to resume bookings shortly. On Tuesday, budget carrier Go First replied to the show cause notice issued by aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) where the airline mentioned that it has no definite timeline to resume operations. Civil aviation ministry officials said that airlines expressed an intent to resume operations at the earliest. "There is no definitive timeline as of now for the resumption of operations by Go First. They have expressed an intent to resume operations at the earliest thought," a senior aviation ministry official said. Earlier the regulator DGCA asked the company (Go First) to respond to the show cause notice within 15 days. The regulator had asked Go First to explain the reasons for its inability to run operations and stopped new bookings and halted the sale of tickets. The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on Monday upheld the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) order which had admitted Go First Airlines' voluntary plea for insolvency. "It disposed of the lessors' petition and asked them to file an appeal before the NCLT."

NCLAT on Friday deferred the matter pertaining to Go First lessors' petition seeking a stay on a bankruptcy court order allowing voluntary insolvency of the low-cost airline to Monday. On May 10, the NCLT admitted Go First's plea for voluntary insolvency and admitted for the initiation of Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) proceedings. NCLT has granted Go First protection under a moratorium from recovery by lessors and lenders. NCLT, in its order, said, "We admit the plea of Go Airlines for insolvency proceedings. It said that we appoint Abhilash Lal as IRP (insolvency resolution professional)." "The suspended board of directors will cooperate with the IRP. Suspended directors are also ordered to deposit Rs 5 crore to make the immediate expenses," the order stated. The budget airline had also cancelled all the flights' operations till May 19 due to operational reasons, "Go First flights until 19th May 2023 are cancelled. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and request customers." US-based jet manufacturers Pratt and Whitney (P-W) has defended itself against the budget airline's claim that P-W is responsible for the financial condition and bankruptcy. "Go First's allegations that Pratt and Whitney is responsible for its financial condition are without merit. Pratt and Whitney will vigorously defend itself against Go's claims, and is pursuing its own legal recourse," Pratt and Whitney spokesperson told ANI. National Company Law Appellate Tribunal to hear Go First lessors' plea today

Go First chief Kaushik Khona has told employees that the airline has been crippled by recurring <keyword id="382682" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pratt-Whitney" source="Orion">Pratt &amp; Whitney</keyword> engine troubles and assured that the carrier is doing everything possible to navigate the situation with utmost care and concern for all staff. The no-frills carrier has filed an application for voluntary insolvency proceedings and has also cancelled all its flights for three days starting Wednesday. In a message to employees late on Tuesday, Khona said that a terrible crisis has been created by Pratt &amp; Whitney's failure to <keyword id="15312689" type="TOPIC" weightage="60" keywordseo="Supply" source="TOPIC" sourcekeytype="economy,investopedia" meta.keywordsubtype="null" meta.msid="93027566" meta.seopath="s/supply" meta.entityname="Supply" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="supply">supply</keyword> engines. For more than 12 months, the airline's management has tried their level best to convince P&amp;W to provide spare engines, repair engines. However, P&amp;W has been stonewalling the discussions, the CEO said, adding that it moved Emergency Arbitration in Singapore. According to the airline, the arbitrator ordered P&amp;W to supply at least 10 serviceable spare leased engines by April 27 and a further 10 spare leased engines per month until December 2023. "With that, the airline would have had all its A320 neo aircraft operational by August/ September 2023... unfortunately, Pratt &amp; Whitney has chosen to defy the order from the Emergency Arbitrator," Khona said in the message. The airline approached the arbitrator, who reinforced the order and since P&amp;W "chose to defy for the second time", it filed enforcement proceedings at a US court seeking implementation of the order, he added. Supam Maheshwari, cofounder and CEO of mother and child care e-commerce platform <keyword id="19939174" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FirstCry" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="FirstCry" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="FirstCry">FirstCry</keyword> has reportedly offloaded 6.2 million shares prior to filing for the company's initial public offer (<keyword id="19905471" type="TOPIC" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPO" source="TOPIC" meta.keywordsubtype="equity,investopedia" meta.msid="19357203" meta.seopath="i/ipo" meta.entityname="IPO" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="ipo">IPO</keyword>). According to a MoneyControl report, Maheshwari's offloaded shareholding would be over Rs 300 crore. <keyword id="1615917" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="firstcry" source="Orion">FirstCry</keyword> CEO has also listed himself as a selling shareholder in the public issue, according to the company's Draft Red-Herring Prospectus (<keyword id="131606" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="drhp" source="Orion">DRHP</keyword>). He had 7.46 per cent stake in the company but after filing the draft <keyword id="6354763" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ipo" source="Orion">IPO</keyword> papers, his holding came down to 5.95 per cent stake. According to the DRHP, Maheshwari has offloaded 9.34 million shares during six months before the date of filing of the IPO papers. "At the price of Rs 487.44 apiece, this share transfer would be worth over Rs 455 crore," said the report. FirstCry was yet to respond to the report. Japanese investment giant <keyword id="19944037" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="softbank" source="keywords">SoftBank</keyword> has sold shares worth $310 million in FirstCry in two rounds, according to earlier reports. Late last month, FirstCry filed its DRHP with the market regulator SEBI, seeking to raise Rs 1,816 crore via fresh issue of shares. FirstCry's parent company BrainBees Solutions filed the DRHP which includes offer-for-sale (OFS) comprising 5.4 crore equity shares. FirstCry will use the IPO funds to set up modern retail stores and warehouses across the country. Meanwhile, the company reported Rs 5,632 crore revenue from operations in FY23, while its losses surged over six times to Rs 486 crore from Rs 79 crore in FY22.

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal will pass its order on May 22 on petitions filed by three aircraft lessors against <keyword id="11252024" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Go-First" source="Orion">Go First</keyword>'s voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings. A two-member bench headed by Chairperson Justice Ashok Bhushan on Monday reserved its order after completing the hearing on the the three petitions. The bench also asked the parties to submit additional documents, if any, in the next 48 hours. The appellate tribunal was hearing a batch of petitions filed by SMBC Aviation Capital Ltd, GY Aviation and <keyword id="17413255" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="sfv-aircraft-holdings" source="Orion">SFV Aircraft Holdings</keyword>. All three lessors have leased out around 21 aircraft to Go First. So far this month, several lessors have approached aviation regulator DGCA for deregistration and repossession of Go First's 45 planes. Go First stopped flying from May 3. Last week the Delhi-based principal bench of the NCLT appointed an interim resolution professional to look after the affairs of Go First and also suspended its board as part of the insolvency resolution process.
