The company has beaten Cupertino tech giant Apple to claim the position.<br /><br />Apple’s sales usually slow down in August as the company launches its new flagship devices in the month of September. This allowed Xiaomi to take the second spot, despite the company’s sales remaining flat month-on-month. Despite the market slowing down in August, Xiaomi was able to outperform the market.<br /><br />While even Xiaomi’s sales reported a decline in its key markets, the company was able to offset it by promotions-led growth in Latin America.<br /><br />“Xiaomi has adopted a leaner product strategy this year, focusing its energies to create one hero model per price band, rather than launching multiple devices in one segment. <ul class="summary-list"><li>DFU mode is a way to recover your <keyword id="11895165" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="iphone" source="Orion">iPhone</keyword> or <keyword id="11939868" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="ipad" source="Orion">iPad</keyword> using a computer.</li><li>To put an iPhone or iPad into DFU mode, you'll need to use either iTunes or Finder.</li><li>DFU mode works differently on iPhones and iPads with Face ID, compared to older models.</li></ul><p>Your iPhone or iPad can sometimes run into technical issues, requiring the device to be <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-reset-iphone" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reset or restored</a>.</p><p>However, if it can't be recovered through its settings, this can complicate efforts and require the use of iTunes or Finder to restore the device's operating system and firmware.</p><p>Here's how you can use DFU mode and a computer to restore your iPhone or iPad when it cannot recover itself.</p><h2><strong>What is DFU mode?</strong></h2><p>Device Firmware Update mode - or DFU mode for short - is a state that an iPhone or iPad can be put in to get your device back into working order.</p><p>DFU mode is similar to <a href="https://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/BIOS-basic-input-output-system" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the BIOS</a> on Windows computers or Recovery Mode on a Mac. It exists "below" the operating system level - <keyword id="11939869" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="ios" source="Orion">iOS</keyword> - but can still communicate with iTunes or Finder on a Windows or Mac computer.</p><p>In DFU mode, your iOS device is accessible to iTunes or Finder at a more privileged level. This allows for more to be changed than normal. However, going into DFU mode on its own does not change anything on the iPhone or iPad.</p><p><strong>Quick tip:</strong> DFU mode can be useful for installing older versions of iOS if a <a href="https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">beta release</a> does not allow you to install an update.</p><h2><strong>Put an iPhone or iPad in DFU mode</strong></h2><p>To put an iPhone or iPad into DFU mode, follow the instructions based on which model you have.</p><h3>iPhone or iPad with Face ID</h3><div type="image" title="iphone" height="705" width="940" msid="85603538" hostid="261"></div><p><strong>1.</strong> Turn off your iPhone or iPad and plug it into your Mac or Windows computer.</p><p><strong>2.</strong> Make sure that iTunes or Finder are running.</p><p><strong>Important</strong>: Macs running macOS Catalina and later will use Finder. <ul class="summary-list"><li>To disable <keyword id="2433750" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Secure-Boot">Secure Boot</keyword>, you need to restart your <keyword id="6365259" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="PC">PC</keyword> and open the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (<keyword id="2433749" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="UEFI">UEFI</keyword>).</li><li>Secure Boot is a feature in your PC's UEFI that only allows authorized operating systems to boot.</li><li>You can re-enable Secure Boot from UEFI, but you may need to restore Windows to factory conditions. </li></ul><p>Secure Boot is an important safety and <keyword id="6355300" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="security">security</keyword> feature found on most modern PCs - it prevents unauthorized <keyword id="6361043" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="software">software</keyword> like <keyword id="54201" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Malware">malware</keyword> from taking over your PC when it turns on. Only Windows 8 and Windows 10 have Secure Boot certificates, for example - if you needed to install Windows 7 on a Secure Boot-enabled PC, you would need to disable Secure Boot. </p><p>Please exercise caution before doing this, though. Secure Boot is an important element in your computer's security, and disabling it can leave you vulnerable to malware that can take over your PC and leave Windows inaccessible. </p><h2><strong>How to disable Secure Boot</strong></h2><p>The Secure Boot setting is located in the UEFI menu which you can launch when the computer starts. Getting to the UEFI is the hardest part of the process, though, and varies from computer to computer. Most computers let you launch the UEFI by pressing a key at startup, before Windows launches. It's usually F1, F2, or F10. You can try this method, but if you have trouble, it's easier to restart your computer using Settings using the following steps:<br /><br /></p><ol><li>Click the Start button and then click "Settings."</li><li>In the Settings search box, type "Advanced start." The seller claims the Apple TV should work just fine if you download Apple's latest firmware update from its developer portal and then restore it using iTunes. </p><p>That means you need to have an Apple developer account to actually use the device, which costs $100 per year.
