India’s <keyword id="4578" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="entertainment">entertainment</keyword> scene is changing drastically. Internet penetration has unboxed a new world of exclusive content that’s widely popular among the masses. 
 At such a critical crossroad when most industries are expected to go the <keyword id="6369871" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mobile-app">mobile app</keyword> way, Business Insider India chats up with Karan Bedi, COO of <keyword id="2480506" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Eros-Now">Eros Now</keyword> to find out what the future of the entertainment might look like. 
 
1. A mere 7-8% of India’s population is online. Don’t you see that as a limiting factor to online movie streaming? 
 
While the numbers today are not that large, they are growing, and with telcos gearing up for 4G, it’s a massive potential market. In India, 7-8% is still a large number, and we expect it to be 50% in the next 2-3 years. 
 
2. Eros Now has announced online-only premieres for some recent films. Could this dilute the media attention theatrical premiers get? 
 
 Theatrical premiers are of paramount importance. The charm of the big screen is here to stay. With our online initiative of ‘TV se pehle’ (Before it comes on TV) we are streaming some of our key properties for online viewing. At Eros we believe digital is the future of the entertainment industry, and we’ve stepped ahead of satellite television to jump directly to Eros Now. 
 
3. Online original series are a rage today with players like AIB and TVF grabbing eyeballs. What’s the potential market for such free online shows? 
 
The limit is only the size of the population that has access to the internet. Like with TV, there is always space for everyone in the country to be involved in some form of online entertainment content. TVF and AIB have their focus on short-form funny stuff, and while we may have similar content, some of it has a completely different genre. 
 
4. How do you see entertainment consumed in the future? 
 
There is an unequivocal belief that the future of entertainment is on the internet. India is primarily a mobile-first market, and is getting to a point where it might be a mobile only market. Entertainment has moved light years ahead of TV. 
 
5. Many experts argue against that with the statistics of the digitized TV audience. Your comments on that. 
 
Being the largest studio in Bollywood, Eros has been historically known for top quality entertainment. Our sense of content is unparalleled and that’s a big driver of audiences to our platform. Our technical base also allows us to offer cool new platform specific features that our audiences would enjoy and can innovate with. 
 
6. Developing economies like India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore are the global hubs for piracy. Do you see these people willing to pay for movies or music? 
 
Piracy has been a concern for the entertainment industry for times immemorial. Now we have pirated DVDs, before that we had pirated cassettes. As platforms evolve, piracy would also evolve. However, if you give people easy access to content that promises them a great experience at a reasonable price, they would come on board. 
 
7. What could possibly be the dominant models for entertainment monetization? 
 
There are several monetization models - transactional, ad supported or subscription-based. Many others are evolving. It’s too early to decide what works best and what doesn’t. 
 
8. Any plans to go app only? 
 
There are no plans as of now. We are rolling out apps for Smart TVs and adding new functionalities to the app and website.

The MH-47 Chinook conducts transport and assault operations.<h2>Little Bird down!</h2><div type="image" title="AH-6 Little Bird shot down in Iraq" height="1199" width="1773" msid="88323360" hostid="261"></div>In March 2004, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Greg Coker and another Night Stalker were flying an AH-6 to support special-operations troops in Amiriyah, a suburb of Baghdad."We were conducting a daytime mission, the first one since the Battle of the Black Sea in Somalia, I believe," Coker told Insider, referring to the battle in Mogadishu.A daylight mission was highly unusual, as Night Stalkers prefer to operate in the dark. As they were flying at a low level, an insurgent fired a shoulder-launched anti-aircraft missile, striking the Little Bird and bringing it down.In the eight seconds it took for the Night Stalker pilots to hit the ground, Coker and his copilot performed an autorotation maneuver, which uses air flowing up through the main rotor to keep that rotor turning, allowing them to crash-land the burning chopper.Upon impact, the AH-6 rolled end over end before coming to a halt. Fuel was leaking everywhere, and ammunition was going off, creating a recipe for disaster.<h2>Lived to tell the tale</h2><div type="image" title="Burned up AH-6 after crash in Iraq" height="1336" width="2000" msid="88323361" hostid="261"></div>Not many pilots who crash in combat survive to tell the tale. For Coker, who spent 30 years in uniform and completed 11 combat tours, the moments after getting hit were the worst.That was "a moment of defeat. Scary as hell. Sheer terror," Coker told Insider."An old gun [gunship helicopter] pilot told me many years ago that 'a superior gun pilot is one that uses his superior knowledge that will keep him out of situations where he will have to use his superior skill.' Your training takes over and you go to work, focusing on the things that you can control," said Coker, author of "<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Death-Waits-Dark-Guns-Dont/dp/1636253229/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=&amp;sr=" target="_top">Death Waits in the Dark</a>."US forces in Iraq were aware insurgents had shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles and of the danger posed by those weapons, known as man-portable air-defense systems, or MANPADS.That concern lurked around many military operations, and some civilian aviation activity, after a US covert-action program in the late 1980s <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/32-year-anniversary-of-first-stinger-missile-use-in-afghanistan-2018-9" target="_blank" rel="noopener">armed Mujahideen in Afghanistan with FIM-92 Stingers</a> to shoot down Soviet aircraft."There had been several helicopters shot down with a MANPAD in the area known as the Devil's Triangle — or at least that is what I called it. Quick-reaction forces composed of units in the region and a combat-search-and-rescue element in the theater — usually Air Force Pararescuemen and other Air Commandos — would normally respond to a crash.The Pentagon is pretty firm on that procedure and will often not approve operations that don't have a contingency plan for downed aircraft. During the initial days of the war in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense wouldn't authorize any operation, even with special-operations forces, before a combat-search-and-rescue team had been set up in Pakistan.What is unique about Coker's experience is that moments after being shot down, and his copilot were back in the fight and going after the insurgents who almost killed them.A reconnaissance element of Delta Force's B Squadron had quickly arrived on the scene, and in true Hollywood fashion, the dazed Night Stalkers joined them in a raid on the house from where the missile had been launched.In the ensuing firefight, Coker killed the man who shot him down in what must be one of the war's unique moments."I was very angry after I was shot down. I had just lost an AH-6, and I wanted some payback. I wanted to find them and kill them. That's it," Coker said. "I also wanted to see if we could find some evidence to confirm or deny the type of system that shot us down. The question was whether or not <keyword id="6367276" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jennifer-Lawrence">Jennifer Lawrence</keyword>'s anticipated sequel could take home more than Robert Downey Jr.'s "Iron Man 3" upon its debut.
It didn't.
"Catching Fire" came close but from early estimates ultimately made $161 million opening weekend.
"<a href="http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=ironman3.htm" target="_blank">Iron Man 3</a>" took in $174 million when it debuted the first weekend of May kicking off the summer movie season.
Still, "Catching Fire" is doing great at the <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword>. 
It's opening numbers are slightly larger than that of the first film (<a href="http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=hungergames.htm" target="_blank">$155 million</a>) and it managed to make more than "<a href="http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=batman3.htm" target="_blank">The Dark Knight Rises</a>" when it premiered last summer (amid the Colorado shooting). Worldwide, the film has already made more than $307 million.
Its $161 million haul makes it the fourth-largest opening weekend at the domestic box office, falling behind "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2."
