Scott said these moments make her feel hopeful, because they show humans have the power to recognize and change their own bad behavior.At the same time, she stressed that a love interest, partner, or friend should never take it upon themselves to force a f--- boy to change, or stay with one in the hopes they will."I think we play a lot of games to avoid seeing upsetting things we don't want to see. Only when they realize that can they begin to change."Emotional unavailability often comes from fear or past traumas and insecurities, so they can project those onto their relationships with family, romantic partners, and friends," Sterling said.Of course, there will always be f--- boys who are "hardwired" to be that way, according to Scott.She said some people's early life experiences have led them to operate all of their relationships in manipulative ways. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Content creators often share their personal lives with fans, including their romantic relationships.</li><li>Some influencers who have started dating have even built successful brands around their relationships.</li></ul>TikTok was abuzz in April when influencers Monet McMichael and Jalen Noble announced their relationship to fans.McMichael was <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@simplyalxs/video/7220631759300447534?q=soft%20launch&amp;t=1687529662192" target="_blank" rel="noopener">praised by her followers</a> for the slow rollout of the coupling — she made it known she was dating Noble but found clever ways to show when she was with him without actually posting his face or tagging him.When influencers date each other, deciding between a "soft launch" like McMichael's or a "hard launch" that makes your new partner fully visible on your platform is just one factor the couple has to consider. Many influencers share their personal lives with their followers, so it's normal when their relationships – whether platonic, familial, or romantic – become part of their content. Oftentimes, their teams will help them build a distinct brand as a couple, while also working to keep their individual brands intact. Jeff Duncan, founder and CEO of the talent agency Ingenuity Live, works with several influencers from reality-dating shows including "Too Hot to Handle" and "FBoy Island." He has clients who are in relationships with influencers outside of his agency, as well as those where he manages both parties and has more control over their strategy.Married couple Nick Toteda and Anthony Cushion are two of his top clients. Their content together has become a key part of their shared brand, though they also maintain individual social profiles. Aside from the <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@nickandant?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">couple's TikTok page</a> which has 1.6 million followers, Toteda has <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@ItsJustNick_" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2 million YouTuber subscribers</a> doing lifestyle vlogging, reactions, and prank videos; and Cushion creates fitness content for his <a href="https://www.instagram.com/antcfitness/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">240,000 Instagram followers</a> and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@AnthonyCushion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">226,000 YouTube subscribers</a>. Duncan said the two started to cultivate a new audience as a couple when they would share home-renovation content on their individual pages as well as their joint accounts."Last week they got stopped in London by a husband and wife that knew them because of the home renovations and had no idea about their individual personas," Duncan said.When a client asks Duncan for advice about incorporating a relationship into their influencer brand, he first evaluates whether relationship content could add value. This means analyzing their audiences to see if they share common interests."Do they have audiences that are similar but not exactly the same?" Duncan said. "What we can do is build an entirely new persona that hopefully perpetuates and builds, crosses the audience from person A to person B." Toteda and Cushion are the type of influencer couple Duncan and Ingenuity Live are looking to work with more. They are married and have been together for several years. Duncan does have clients from dating shows, but said he avoids signing couples together from a situation like that because their relationships were made in fast-paced and high-pressure environments."We usually make an assessment about the viability or long-term nature of their relationship," Duncan said. "We will tend to shy away from signing couples together if it's been a fast love."Duncan and his team approach influencer relationships in four steps: organization, strategy, execution, and analysis. This is not dissimilar to how they would deal with an individual influencer, but there is a difference in application. For example, when it comes to the organizational and strategic pieces, there should be weekly brainstorms for content where the creators determine what posts will be joint content and what posts will be individual. Duncan said the creators should also consider viral trends and challenges they can hop on as a couple and day-in-the-life vlogs that make viewers feel like they have a behind-the-scenes look into the relationship. Duncan thinks more influencer couples should collaborate with other couples, as well. Meeting others at industry events and tagging them in posts or finding opportunities to co-produce content together are some of the ways he's seen creator couples reach new audiences."A lot of couples aren't looking to other couples that maybe have a small crossover of the same audience," Duncan said. "If there's a crossover of 20% of the audience, but each side has 80% of the audience that isn't following the other side, that is where we see the low-hanging fruit for them to be able to do some collaborations together."While curating a couple's content can be important for brand building, Duncan does get concerned about the individual client's image if the relationship reaches an expiration date."There's certainly a conflict of interest when we're managing both of the people in a couple and it becomes a messy breakup," Duncan said. "We kind of have to pick our pony and decide who it is that we can manage because it's sometimes difficult to manage both of them."There are many examples of influencer couples who went through <a href="https://www.insider.com/youtube-breakups-power-couple-splits-drama-2020-2">public breakups</a>. Some, including Liza Koshy and David Dobrik, have even taken the time to record videos sitting side-by-side to explain it to fans. It can be difficult to navigate announcements like these versus allowing the uncoupling to "drift" over time to get the audience used to seeing the influencer alone again, Duncan said.That's where a client's personal brand becomes key. Some creators Duncan works with are coming from dating shows where viewers knew them from a relationship that they're no longer in, and then the creator has to stand on their own.We've seen this with former "The Bachelor" star Nick Viall, who participated in all three of the franchise's shows ("The Bachelorette," "Bachelor in Paradise," and "The Bachelor") and was left single in the aftermath. He's since rebranded as the podcast creator of "The Viall Files," which was nominated for a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CFziEc7HENY/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading&amp;hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">People's Choice Award</a> in 2020 and made over 100 million downloads, <a href="https://podnews.net/press-release/advertisecast-viall-files" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to a </a><a href="https://podnews.net/press-release/advertisecast-viall-files" target="_blank" rel="noopener">February</a><a href="https://podnews.net/press-release/advertisecast-viall-files" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> press release</a>. His book "Don't Text Your Ex Happy Birthday: And Other Advice on Love, Sex, and Dating" is currently one of Amazon's 100 best-selling dating books. "The very first thing that we're going to do is build a strategy around creating a foundation for them as an individual so that they can stand on their own two feet, and that there doesn't need to be four feet involved in order for them to be considered a successful creator," Duncan said.
