Pakistani actor <keyword id="2358880" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Fawad-Khan">Fawad Khan</keyword>, who rose to fame in India with his serial Zindagi Gulzar Hai, would now be seen in director Reema Kagti’s next venture-- <keyword id="2557480" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mr-Chaalu">Mr Chaalu</keyword>. 
 
Khan, who was last seen in Shashanka Ghosh’s <keyword id="1089498" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Khoobsurat">Khoobsurat</keyword> opposite Sonam Kapoor, has also been signed for Karan Johar’s Kapoor and Sons and Shashanka Ghosh’s <keyword id="1623649" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Battle-for-Bittora">Battle for Bittora</keyword>. 
 
While Kapoor and Sons would feature Fawad Khan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt in a supposed love triangle, in Battle for Bittora Fawad would play the royal prince from Anuja Chauhan’s bestselling novel of the same name. 
 In Mr Chaalu, Fawad would be seen opposite Priyanka Chopra. Earlier, actor Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut were the original choices for the film. However, things didn’t work out for these two, owing to which Fawad Khan and Priyanka Chopra were approached later. The movie would be produced by under <keyword id="5015" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Farhan-Akhtar">Farhan Akhtar</keyword> and Ritesh Sidhwani’s banner Excel Entertainment.

 It’s eight more days before we get to see the movie, but we guess, being <keyword id="1671" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shah-Rukh-Khan">Shah Rukh Khan</keyword> has its own benefits. 
 
The Dilwale actor, it seems, has already watched the movie, and we wouldn’t be shocked if it’s true, since Dharma Productions’ owner Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan share a friendship that goes back decades. 
 
So, the good thing is that Khan loved the movie, and expressed his joy via the social networking site Twitter. This is what he had to say.

Right from the oh-so-romantic <keyword id="2343597" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Zindagi-Gulzar-Hai">Zindagi Gulzar hai</keyword> to the oh-so-funny <keyword id="2555743" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Yeh-Shaadi-Nahin-Ho-Sakti">Yeh Shaadi Nahin Ho Sakti</keyword>, Indian audiences are appreciating each and every show on the channel. 
 
Pakistani shows generally last for 6-7 months on Pakistan TV as they telecast them weekly, but because Zindagi runs them as daily soaps, they get over within a month—leaving the audience wanting for more. 
 
Here are three other shows that will be aired next on Zindagi. 
 
1. <keyword id="2555745" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tere-Ishq-Mein">Tere Ishq Mein</keyword> 
A story of a positive emotion like love and a negative one like greed, Tere Ishq Mein is an unforgettable tale of the heavy price that one ends up paying when they love someone selflessly. It aired in Pakistan in 2007 as Man-O-Salwa, and is based on a popular novel of the same name. The author of the novel is Umera Ahmed, who also penned down Zindagi Gulzar Hai. This novel was later made into a hit show of the same name, starring Fawad Afzal Khan and <keyword id="2358879" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sanam-Saeed">Sanam Saeed</keyword>, and was the first serial that Zindagi telecasted. The serial begins tonight at 10:15 PM, making Kitni Girhain Baaki Hain into a weekly show (will get telecast on Sundays only). 
 
2. <keyword id="6399786" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Humsafar">Humsafar</keyword> 
Now this is something that Fawad Afzal Khan’s have been waiting for long, especially after his character of Zaroon Junaid in Zindagi Gulazar Hai took the whole country, and especially girls, by storm. One of the highest-rated dramas of Pakistan, the show revolves around two people who fall in love after marriage. Starring Fawad and <keyword id="701143" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mahira-Khan">Mahira Khan</keyword>, the hit show was telecast in Pakistan from September 2011 to March 2012, and is based on a novel by the same name, written by Farhat Ishtiaq. The serial would begin from tomorrow 8 PM and would replace Mera Naseeb, which stars Sanam Saeed and <keyword id="2539023" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Syra-Yousuf">Syra Yousuf</keyword>. 
 
3. <keyword id="2555746" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dhoop-Chhaon">Dhoop Chhaon</keyword> Bringing back <keyword id="2555742" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sanam-Baloch">Sanam Baloch</keyword> to Indian television, this serial was telecast in Pakistan as Durr-e-Shehwar from March to June 2012. It follows the journey of Durr-e-Shehwar, a young lady who comes over enough turbulence only to find her daughter standing on similar crossroads later in life. The show stars Sanam Baloch as the young Durr-e-Shehwar and <keyword id="1866540" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Samina-Peerzada">Samina Peerzada</keyword>, last seen in Mera Naseeb, as the elder Durr-e-Shehwar. The show’s name has most probably been changed to suit the Indian audience. The date of telecast has not been decided yet, and the show would most likely replace Yeh Shaadi Nahin Ho Sakti once the family comedy series ends in the coming few days.

Fawad Khan Is Back With Humsafar. And Then There Are Other Upcoming Shows On Zindagi

When we heard that <keyword id="3778" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Karan-Johar">Karan Johar</keyword> was making a movie based on a family with two brothers, we were reminded of the success that Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was, even though coming to think of it, <keyword id="39101" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="K3G">K3G</keyword> was nothing but an overdramatic run of emotional problems that could have ended with a round table discussion amongst the elders of the family. 
 When we further came to know that Indian heartthrob <keyword id="1320874" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sidharth-Malhotra">Sidharth Malhotra</keyword> would be starring in the movie along with his Pakistani counterpart <keyword id="2358880" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Fawad-Khan">Fawad Khan</keyword>, we breathed a sigh of relief that these two almost of the same age actors won’t be leaving us in tears, sitting on a white bench not once but twice in the movie. 
 When we came to know that <keyword id="6354526" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Alia-Bhatt">Alia Bhatt</keyword> would be the female lead of the movie, we wondered why there were two actors, who were playing real brothers, and one actress in this romantic comedy. However, since Indian cinema is at an experimental stage right now, we thought that it would be better to wait for the trailer before passing any judgement. 
 
Now that the trailer is out, we have only one thing to say, cliché. 
 
The trailer starts with Rahul and Arjun, played by Khan and Malhotra, driving on an empty road in the wee hours of night, with Khan, in his thick Pakistani accent complaining about the driver of another car who is needlessly honking at them. The scene establishes a healthy relation between the two of them. 
 The scene then shifts to <keyword id="51" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rajat-Kapoor">Rajat Kapoor</keyword> and <keyword id="20894" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ratna-Pathak-Shah">Ratna Pathak Shah</keyword>, the parents of Rahul and Arjun, who are always locking horns with each other, even in front of their children. Normal for Punjabis, we think and move ahead to Dadu (<keyword id="6357910" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rishi-Kapoor">Rishi Kapoor</keyword>), the quintessential wheelchair bound grandfather of a Punjabi family, well dressed and counting the last and happiest days of his life. 
 
Next scene shows us that even the younger Kapoor lads are at loggerheads with each other, throwing things at each other which if hit the right target, would make them regret their existence for the whole life. Again, this too is normal for Punjabi siblings. 
 
Alia is then introduced as Arjun’s friend and possible love interest, who coincidentally, also knows Rahul from her past. While she has drinks with Arjun and his friends, she is seen calling Rahul hot, and even kissing him (a fake one, of course, given Fawad’s love for his people’s emotions and more than that, his wife back home). 
 
The trailer then gets intense, when it’s clear that love is blossoming in not two but three young hearts, out of which two belong to real brothers, leading to a series of questions, tears and the revelation of Kapoor family having some secrets only they know of. 
The trailer ends with Rishi Kapoor saying that all he wants is a family photo with the title Kapoor &amp; Sons, since 1921. 
 
Overall, the two-and-a-half minute trailer takes us to a Punjabi family with two sons, who both get into a love triangle and question their priorities in life, but we are not impressed. 
 
All the actors of the movie have, time and again, have proved their mettle, and we doubt if they would fail to deliver good performances in the movie, but what we don’t understand is, why weren’t better scenes from the movie chosen for the first trailer of the movie, and why have the audiences been kept in the dark? After all, it’s a romantic comedy drama, and not a suspense thriller that we should be guessing what’s going on in the minds of the actors. 
 
While the actors look promising and the posters look fun, let’s hope that the next trailers of the movie come out well planned, and are able to raise our expectations from the movie, which sadly have been lowered by the first trailer.

Love triangle, troubled family and sibling rivalry fill up the first trailer of Kapoor & Sons

Yesterday, we told you how Rishi Kapoor has <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/You-wont-believe-who-this-affable-grandpa-from-Kapoor-and-Sons-is/articleshow/50820623.cms">donned the character</a> of Dadu in Dharma Production’s upcoming movie <keyword id="6439315" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kapoor-Sons">Kapoor &amp; Sons</keyword>. Looks like the production team is all set to start the promotion of the movie, which is why, today, we were given the treat of the first poster of the movie. 
 <keyword id="3778" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Karan-Johar">Karan Johar</keyword>, the producer of the movie, took to the social networking site Twitter to share the poster of the film, in which we see the whole Kapoor family.

While Dadu Rishi Kapoor sits in front of a glass of champagne and what could be his birthday cake, his on-screen son Rajat Kapoor and daughter-in-law Ratna Pathak Shah stand next to him, wearing eye masks for the birthday party.

This Friday, it was the clash of two biggies at the <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword>: <keyword id="1904667" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Daawat-E-Ishq">Daawat-E-Ishq</keyword> and <keyword id="1089498" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Khoobsurat">Khoobsurat</keyword>. 
 
Directed by Habib Faisal of Ishaqzaade and Do Dooni Chaar fame, Daawat-E-Ishq has <keyword id="467200" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aditya-Roy-Kapoor">Aditya Roy Kapoor</keyword> and <keyword id="562349" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Parineeti-Chopra">Parineeti Chopra</keyword> in the lead. Though they’ve been paired together for the first time, but the pairing looks fresh and cute on screen. The movie was expected to woo the audience and get off to a decent start, but it started on a slow note. According to <a href="http://www.bollywoodhungama.com/box-office/special-features/id/389">Bollywood Hungama</a>, this movie managed to collect only Rs 3.72 crore on its first Friday. The business improved a little on Saturday and Sunday; the movie collected Rs 13.6 crore over the weekend (collecting Rs 4.35 crore on Saturday and Rs 5.53 crore on Sunday). The movie also managed to gather about Rs 5.54 crore from overseas markets, which took the total weekend collections to Rs 19.14 crore. 
 
Khoobsurat on the other hand is loosely based on the old classic, Rekha starrer movie with the same name. With this movie, Pakistani actor <keyword id="2358880" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Fawad-Khan">Fawad Khan</keyword> has made his <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> debut opposite <keyword id="710" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sonam-Kapoor">Sonam Kapoor</keyword>. This new Khan already had some fans before the movie hit the cinema—all thanks to his Television serial and telefilm that were aired recently on Zindagi channel. Khoobsurat is made on an estimated budget of Rs 30 crore and is the first Bollywood movie to be released under the Disney brand name. Like Daawat-E-Ishq, this movie also had a slow start. It managed to collect Rs 3.72 crore on its first day says <a href="http://www.bollywoodhungama.com/box-office/special-features/id/388">Bollywood Hungama</a>. On Saturday and Sunday Khoobsurat managed to register collections worth Rs 3.74 and Rs 5.05 crore respectively. International collections helped the movie to reach Rs 18.43 crore on its first weekend. 
 
In the meantime, last week’s release Finding Fanny staring Deepika Padukone has collected a total of Rs 31.14 crore in the last 10 days. Priyanka Chopra’s biopic Mary Kom is still going strong and has collected Rs 56.5 crore so far. (Figures till Sunday, September 21) 
 
Considering that no other big movie is getting released next week, both Daawat-E-Ishq and Khoobsurat have a fair chance of redeeming themselves—but it seems very bleak at the moment. We are anxiously waiting for October 2, 2014, when Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang will take on Shahid Kapoor’s Haider. Both movies seem to offer something fresh and considering that they are releasing on a long weekend, they are expected to have a great opening at the box office.

When general people have a day off from hectic schedules, they like to sleep around or catch a good movie, but <keyword id="1671" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shah-Rukh-Khan">Shah Rukh Khan</keyword>, being the insomniac actor that he is, chose to spend his holiday in a different manner altogether. Khan, who is the global face of Indian cinema and one of India’s most successful actors, is in Bulgaria these days, shooting for Rohit Shetty’s upcoming movie Dilwale, with Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. 
 
On his day off, what the actor decided to do was to tease us all with a little peek-a-boo into his next movie <keyword id="6361860" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Raees">Raees</keyword>. This has to be the most casual teaser launch of any big-budget movie ever.

Raees, which stars SRK alongwith <keyword id="6359106" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nawazuddin-Siddiqui">Nawazuddin Siddiqui</keyword> is directed by <keyword id="33868" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rahul-Dholakia">Rahul Dholakia</keyword>. The movie also marks the <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> debut of Pakistani actress <keyword id="701143" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mahira-Khan">Mahira Khan</keyword>, who paved her way into millions of Indians’ hearts with her role of the simpleton Kheerad in the serial Humsafar, which was telecast on Zindagi channel. Fawad Afzal Khan, her co-star from Humsafar already stepped into Bollywood last year with Anil Kapoor’s Khoobsurat, starring Fawad and Sonam Kapoor. 
 
In the teaser of Raees, we get to enjoy the bad-boy look of Shah Rukh Khan, who once was christened as the ‘King of Romance’. 
 
 
 Shah Rukh stars as Raees, a bootlegger who believes that no work is small and also that work is worship. Contrary to popular beliefs and some fan-made posters that one can find on various websites, the movie does not star <keyword id="5015" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Farhan-Akhtar">Farhan Akhtar</keyword>. Instead, he serves as the producer of the movie, along with Ritesh Sidhwani and Gauri Khan. The movie would release on Eid, the same day Salman Khan’s Sultan would be releasing. Raees teaser: How Shah Rukh Khan loves to ‘tease’ his fans

The year of 2022 could be a watershed year for <keyword id="143" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bollywood" source="Orion">Bollywood</keyword>. For the very first time, a lead character in the movie is transgender in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui starring Ayushmann Khurana and Vaani Kapoor. Called a conversation starter on transgenders, the movie was lauded by many. <div type="javascript" title="Custom" contenttype="Image"><cdata><![CDATA[ ]]></cdata></div> <div type="javascript" title="Custom" contenttype="Image"><cdata><![CDATA[ ]]></cdata></div> Then there was a formulaic Badhai Do starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar - which is a lesbian and a gay man married to each other, due to family pressure. Increasing roles but not being cast While Bollywood might seem to be taking one step forward, it has brought out many issues – be it roles for the community and of course, casting transgenders for the roles. The apathy towards LGBTQ+ community is also affecting artists who intend to find their place in the showbiz which has been expanding thanks to the number of web series and more under production. Yet, it’s falling short of people to accommodate them. Transgender actor Sushant Divgikar criticises the casting of cisgender actors as transgender characters in Bollywood. This comes as Bollywood is making several movies on gender diversity but tends to cast popular actors instead of the ‘right’ fit. “If a transgender person is not allowed to play a transgender character on screen in a film, they are not allowed to play a man in a film and transgender people are not allowed to play women in a film so what do transgender artists play? transgender trees in the back?” asks Divgikar on his Instagram. Divgikar is quite vocal about challenges faced by <keyword id="1218847" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lgbtq-community" source="Orion">LGBTQ community</keyword> in society and Bollywood. Sharing another such experience on gender disparity on Youtube, Divgikar revealed that they were auditioning for a toothpaste ad when the casting director told them even before they entered the room, “You are too gay for this advertisement.” Yet, not all is lost. A few actors from the community have found their standing. Jim Sarbh, a popular actor who played a key role in the superhit movie Padmavaat, also plays a role in Made in India. In the popular Amazon Prime Video series, he plays a straight character. “It was really difficult playing a heterosexual male so that was a first big challenge that I had to overcome, what cultural significance would be here and whether people will accept it,” <a href="https://www.facebook.com/YesWeExistIndia/videos/1246256258883966/">he said sarcastically in an interview </a>as he believes there is still socia stigma around the community. While the number of shows and movies portraying queer connection are increasing – large numbers are played by A-list actors like Sonam Kapoor, Fawad Khan, Ayushmann Khurana, Manoj Bajpai and more. ‘It was the most challenging film because I have never done such a character before’, <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/entertainment/bollywood/aligarh-was-most-challenging-film-for-me-manoj-bajpayee/">said Manoj about playing a gay character </a>that was named Siras in Aligarh. India has a long way to go in terms of gender issues and is still struggling to get many aspects like casting and treatment of women. Case in point is the controversy created by Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh which was criticized for toxic masculinity. Thappad was touted to be a response to Kabir Singh. “Everyone should do one thing they feel will take us towards gender equality – and getting rid of stereotypes and conditioning will surely be a step in that direction,” said Tapsee Pannu who played the protagonist in the movie. You’re too gay for this ad, and other ways Indian showbiz ignores LGBTQ+ artists

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=india">India</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/India-wants-friendly-relations-with-Pakistan-Rajnath-Singh/articleshow/47911348.cms">Pakistan’s</a> relationship has gone through more high and lows than the helpless rupee. Most often than not, the relationship follows this pattern- one minute, we’re bickering about our border feuds, the next minute, we’re admiring each other’s spirit but the moment someone mentions- Kashmir, everything suddenly goes haywire. 
 It's been over sixty years, but the exact status of the bond between these two countries is still unknown, just like the status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Just kidding. Jammu and Kashmir belongs to <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>, obviously. 
 
But all said and done, it would be a colossal mistake to not acknowledge that over the years, our closest neighbour/blame-game player has been a source of great help and never-ending guffaws. 
 Thus, in celebration of <keyword id="3001" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Pakistan">Pakistan</keyword>’s <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Independence-Day-special-7-Movies-based-on-Indias-independence-movement/articleshow/48480987.cms">Independence Day</a>, Business Insider draws up a list of five reasons why Indians should be making a ‘thank-you card’ for Pakistan. 
 
1. World-class cricket rivalry: Without Pakistan, would the world cup or cricket matches ever be the same? I shudder to think of the boring matches’ women who can’t differentiate a ‘wide’ from a ‘no-ball’ would have to endure. An India- Pakistan match has the power to unite families and induce patriotism like nothing else. Moreover, the rivalry between both these cricket teams put the rivalry between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic to shame. Winning a match against Pakistan is of greater significance than discovering the cure for a deadly disease or just about anything else. That’s right. And, let’s not to forget, the easy retweets that can be garnered by cracking Shahid Afridi and Inzamam-ul-Haq jokes. We might not like to admit it, but Indians need you, Pakistan. 
 
2. Fawad Khan: Fawad Afzal Khan, better known as the only reason women all across India endured Khoobsurat, a two-hour long snoozefest masquerading as a movie. I’m not exaggerating when I say that Fawad Khan is Pakistan’s national treasure. His chiseled face, perfectly sculpted body has us swooning and watching Khoobsurat on repeat, at the cost of damaging our brain. Don’t think it’s possible to thank you enough for his existence, Pakistan. 
 
3. Pakistan army gives the Indian army a much needed practice: When our neighbour is in one of their no-so-friendly moods, it results in a couple of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Pakistan-resorts-to-ceasefire-violation-shell-mortar-bombs-in-Poonch/articleshow/48449239.cms">infiltration bids</a> and the sacred LoC being violated. As a result, the Pakistan army unknowingly motivates the Indian army to stay on their feet by providing much-needed net practice. Additionally, it also keeps them prepared for any plausible serious confrontations with other nuclear states. (China, we’re looking at you) 
 
4. Helping Bollywood directors with movie plots: Bollywood Directors just like Bollywood lyricists would have been ‘inspired’ by works of others while figuring out plots for movies had it not been for the partition and the subsequent creation of Pakistan. If you’re one of those who loves Gadar, 1947, A Love Story, Veer Zara and the recent <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Bajrangi-Bhaijaan-the-highest-grosser-of-2015/articleshow/48145585.cms">Bajrangi Bhaijaan</a>, you have to no one to thank, but thy neighbor. Thank you Pakistan for providing our directors with the perfect storylines for <keyword id="28240" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Independence-day">Independence Day</keyword> special films since 1947. 
 
5. Chand Nawab: Nawazuddin Siddiqui might have kept us laughing with his antics as Chand Nawab in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, but he undoubtedly failed at overshadowing the original Chand Nawab on whom the character was based. Chand Nawab, a Pakistani journalist with Indus News had to face many hurdles while recording his PTC in a crowded railway station. The video of his attempts to get his PTC right while having to dodge people who would walk in front of the camera went viral and made us fall in love with this man, who has become our new favourite. All due to Pakistan, guys! 
 
Special mention- If there’s one thing that India has gotten horribly wrong while Pakistan has hit the bull’s eye, it is Coke Studio. With their version, Pakistan showed us what a music programme should ideally be about.
