<ul><li>Indians love to stream OTT shows and movies on TV screens, says a NielsenIQ study.</li><li>Video and sound quality, ergonomic benefits, and voice assistants make TVs the preferred option to stream.</li><li>Most Indians want to stream and watch their family and comedy is the preferred genre. </li></ul><keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword> has a new dinner companion — streaming services. As per a study conducted by NielsenIQ commissioned by Amazon for TV streaming trends, 97% of Indians prefer to stream their favourite movies and shows at dinner time. The good news is that they’re not cutting down on family time, as 74% watched these services with family, especially spouses and children. Family streaming also means they all want to watch it together on their big screens. According to the study, 78% respondents prefer streaming content on their TVs through streaming sticks, smart TVs, and set-top-boxes as compared to smartphones, tablets and laptops. TV equals painless streaming In addition to family time, TV watching offers ergonomic comfort. “Viewing on TV may also allow one to maintain a comfortable body posture, alleviating the aches and pains sometimes associated with watching content while holding the phone,” the study says. Adding to this is the active broadband connections at most homes. TVs also provide better video and sound quality, and convenience of accessing a variety of content across OTT providers and online sources. Voice assistants, and the convenience of watching live shows and DTH channels all in one single screen also helps. “Online video streaming has come a long way since its inception, and so has streaming habits of consumers. What has remained a constant is our preference to view content on the biggest screen in our homes – the television,” said <keyword id="20216460" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="parag-gupta" source="keywords">Parag Gupta</keyword>, Director and Country Manager, Amazon Devices India. What does India love to stream? Almost 66% of respondents of the study also said that they streamed five hours daily over the weekend. On weekdays, most of them keep it down to three hours of streaming. As per the study, India loves to watch comedy – which is the most popular genre of content watched. It’s closely followed by sports, thriller, romantic, horror, international TV shows, and news in order of preference. Ormax too recently released a report on the most streamed movies and shows on OTT. <keyword id="19911186" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shahid-kapoor" source="keywords">Shahid Kapoor</keyword>’s Farzi became the most watched Hindi web series with a viewership of around 37 million. Anil Kapoor’s The Night Manager however comes a close second with 28.4 million. Bhuvam Bam starrer Taaza Khabar came at number three with a viewership of 23.5 million. Made in Heaven season 2 ranked at number 10 with 15.7 million. “Farzi is the only show to cross the 30 million viewership mark in 2023, and is now the most-watched subscription video on demand (SVOD) series in India of all time. Two advertising video on demand AVOD shows from JioCinema, i.e., Asur 2 &amp; Taali, feature in the top five most-watched shows of the year,” said Ormax. Today, OTT platforms in India are a dime a dozen. And every platform has a host of shows, original movies, docuseries, mockumentaries, and whatnot on offer. Only a handful of these projects, however, leave a mark on the audience. Going by the critics’ reviews and fan comments, the crime thriller Farzi, by director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK aka Raj &amp; DK, is well on its way to becoming one such show. Farzi marks the OTT debut of actor Shahid Kapoor and the Hindi-language debut of Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi. It chronicles the journey of a talented sketch artist, Sunny (played by Kapoor) who produces counterfeit money to initially save his grandfather - but later, succumbs to the greed of easy money. Sethupathi, meanwhile, plays a sassy cop with a penchant for personal mess and professional success- similar to Raj and DK’s other talented spy, Srikant Tiwari from their hit series The Family Man. Farzi also stars Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna and Bhuvan Arora in pivotal roles, along with brief but important cameos by Zakir Hussain, Kubbra Sait and Amol Palekar, among others. Though the concept is a tad more common and predictable than their other projects, Farzi still manages to hook your interest - thanks to impeccable performances. The eight-episode-long series released on Amazon Prime Video on February 10 and is <a href="https://twitter.com/rajndk/status/1625478730465570817/photo/3">trending worldwide – it’s </a>in the Top Ten on Prime in Australia, the US, the UK, UAE, Singapore and Canada Littered with references to The Family Man and even a minute callback to their earlier film 99, Farzi makes for a memorable addition to Raj and DK’s filmography, and their spy universe. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Delivering eclectic content since 2003" comment="subhead2" text="Delivering eclectic content since 2003">Delivering eclectic content since 2003</cmsannotation> Raj and DK made their debut with the romantic comedy Flavours in 2003. What’s common across their projects is an acute understanding of the world their protagonists inhabit - be it the working-class professionals who hate Mondays in Go Goa Gone or frustrated fathers caught between demanding children and bosses in The Family Man. In Farzi too, Kapoor’s mini monologue on the tragedy of being a middle-class Indian in the country has started doing the rounds on social media for being “relatable AF” - in the words of millennials and GenZs. Of course, the credit for this partially goes to the show’s co-writers, Suman Kumar and Sita Menon. Kumar also worked with the duo on The Family Man. But it’s also to do with how Raj and DK pursue a story - through detailed research, a healthy dose of sly humor, and in their own words, lots of writing: “Our writing process is extremely clinical – from the plot to the history of the characters, the screenplay – we want everything to be on paper. Also, we write a lot. Like a lot. We always want to have a lot of material to bounce things off. Some stories resurface because they were written for a different time. Sometimes two scripts merge to create something like Stree, which was in a different shape originally. The same goes for Family Man too,” shared DK <a href="https://www.gqindia.com/entertainment/content/the-family-man-raj-and-dk-interview">with GQ India</a>. Raj and DK produced Stree and also wrote the screenplay, with Sumit Arora writing the dialogues and Amar Kaushik directing the film. However, the duo has also pandered to commercialisation at times and indulged in overused tropes and cliches (for example, Happy Ending). Just like the anti-hero of Farzi, few ‘artists’ in Bollywood possess the talent to break stereotypes and surpass tropes to create interesting content in a genre as cluttered as crime and comedy. Raj and DK are well on their way to not only attaining this tag but perhaps, even transitioning into auteurs - defining the genre, rather than just contributing to it. JioCinema unveiled the trailer of the movie at an event with Kapoor and Zafar. JioCinema’s first direct-to-OTT film Bloody Daddy, starring Shahid Kapoor, to stream on June 9

Kalra, the man who was called the Czar of Indian cuisine, passed away in Mumbai on Tuesday. Kalra succumbed to a prolonged illness at the age of 72. As the news of his death spread, tributes started pouring in all over social media. Vir Sanghvi, Kabir Bedi and other celebrities and restaurateurs shared anecdotes of the man, whose knowledge of the Indian cuisine left everyone awe-struck. Kalra’s book called <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/life-style/food-news/jiggs-kalra-passes-away-and-leaves-behind-a-culinary-saga/articleshow/69645109.cms">Prashad</a> attained cult status and turned into a ‘Bible’ for budding chefs. He is also the first Asian to be inducted in the International Food and Beverage Gourmet Hall of Fame. He represented India at various international food festivals and summits. He also served the British royals---Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, apart from former US President Bill Clinton. His legacy will now be carried on by his son Zorawar Kalra.

 After a horrible Uber ride, we reached Mama’s <keyword id="4067531" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="buoi">Buoi</keyword>. The spelling of the name being too trendy keeping the students in mind, we had a tough time figuring out it on <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> Map. And let’s tell you in the beginning; it’s not exactly where Google Map points. It’s some 300 metres ahead. If the Map says you have reached, don’t trust it and keep moving ahead and take a left turn. Almost 200 metre ahead, you will find Mama’s Buoi on left. 
 
As you enter the place, you will be welcomed by the high pitched music playing by. And once you settle yourself, be assured, you will be having one of the best meals in Delhi’s northern part. This café serve incredible Seesha or hookah starting at Rs 499. Try from Farzi, Ek Number and Panga. 
 Décor is reminiscent of your hostel days. Most of the props here are from a student’s life. However the other part is like any other regular pub in South or <keyword id="65637" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="West-delhi">West Delhi</keyword>. There’s a terrace seating facility as well. If you get a place, prefer seating on the top terrace and enjoy the beauty of the fragmentally lit city. 
 For starters we ordered Mezzeh platter, Ghost burgers, <keyword id="176668" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hunan">Hunan</keyword> fish and Crispy Conjee Lamb. The succulent lamb meat melts in mouth. You need to try the Ghost Burgers at your own risk. The patty is wet with Ghost chilli sauce and gives you a high with every bite. 
The Wild Pizza is a mid-courser. The fully loaded pizza with chunks of meat gives you a mouthful of flavour. Adding to it is the magic of thin crust, my personal favourite. 
 
 
 
For the main course, we stuck to traditional. The fish and chips were regular. The basa fillet used in it had nothing wow factor in it. However the steak was uniquely delicious. It was evident that lamb steak cooked in pepper and mushroom sauce has an Indian hand behind. Smoky Sizzlers was another value addition. When you get a non veg sizzler for Rs 359, you know it’s going to be legendary. And yes it was. 
We ended the long gastronomic sojourn with a combination of rich chocolate cake and vanilla lovingly named ‘Death by chocolate.’

<ul><li>About half a million restaurants in India are at the brink of collapse after India extended its lockdown for another 19 days. </li><li>As many as 7.3 million jobs are at risk, reported the Indian Express. </li><li>Most of these restaurants said that they exhausted their cash after paying full salaries to employees in March. </li></ul>All those dreaming of rushing to their favourite restaurants right after lockdown ends, well, might not be able to. That’s because as many as half a million restaurants might not survive the extended <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/coronavirus/coronavirus-lockdown-covid-19-india-economy-jobs-6364568/">lockdown, says an Indian Express report</a>. Few restaurants will be able to make it through the 40 day shutdown with salaries, costs and overheads. This will, in turn, put 7.3 million jobs on risk. A large number of restaurants say they have already exhausted their cash after paying full salaries to employees in March. Waiting for the government to announce some relief Strict social distancing norms that could remain in vogue for months is also likely to affect restaurants. Their only hope is a possible relief package from the government. The worst affected would be the high-end restaurants. “For premium restaurants, it will take a long time to get back their clientele since foreign travellers form a major chunk of their diners. As a company, if we have to sustain, we have to move towards delivery,” Zorawar Kalra, who manages 25 restaurants including Farzi cafe said. However, these restaurants might not make as much as they can’t charge for a premium dining experience. According to Katriar of deGustibus Hospitality, the margins for deliveries are very low. On April 9, the National Restaurant Association of India urged NITI Aayog to take urgent measures to help marginal employees. They wanted them to offer unemployment cover or 50% salary and ration. The body is yet to take a decision on the request. “One thing is for sure, the industry will take a lot of time to get back on its feet. Many companies will never recover from the losses of the lockdown period,” Anurag Katria, president National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) told the Indian Express.
