As the industry prepares for the next wave of sports enthusiasts, as a self-regulatory industry body it is important to protect and educate operators and users about the industry and its best practices,” said Justice A K Sikri, Ombudsman, IFSG. <br /><br />IFSG currently has 32 members across fantasy sports operators and sports analytics firms.<br /><br />The Indian fantasy gaming market is projected to touch $5 billion in the next two years and has players like Dream11, Mobile Premier League leading the industry.<br /><br />Dream11, which has over 60 million users is associated with major cricketing events like the Indian Premier League and the ICC World Cup. MS Dhoni is its brand ambassador. Dream11 also became India’s first gaming unicorn in April 2019.<br /><br />Another player in the same field is Mobile Premier League which gained 20 million users within seven months of its launch. It also raised $35.5 million from Sequoia India. MPL has Indian skipper Virat Kohli as its brand ambassador.<br />

<ul><li><keyword id="48485" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bombay-high-court">Bombay High Court</keyword> has dismissed a PIL which claimed <keyword id="6214644" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dream11">Dream11</keyword> encourages gambling. </li><li>The High Court order has said that it is a game of skill, and not chance. </li><li>Earlier, the Punjab and Haryana High Court too had declared the Dream11 format of fantasy sports as legal.</li></ul>Indian gaming unicorn Dream11 has got another big boost – from Bombay High Court no less. The <a href="https://www.livelaw.in/news-updates/dream-11-bombay-hc-dismisses-pil-fantasy-league-145760">High Court</a> dismissed a PIL filed by an advocate and said that Dream11 is a game of skill and not of chance. <br /><br />The PIL had claimed that online fantasy league game encourages gambling. <br /><br />This comes after the Punjab and Haryana High Court too declared the Dream11 format of fantasy sports as legal. The order said that the game requires considerable skill and judgment. This order was further ratified by the Supreme Court. <br /><br />The Indian fantasy gaming industry is projected to be a ₹118.8 billion market by 2023. While cricket holds the majority of the market share, other games are picking up too.<br /><br />Dream11 has had a great run this year – from turning a unicorn with a billion Dollar valuation, in April 2019. Its users also swelled to 67 million after IPL in 2019, and was also the official partners for the league. <br /><br />With the ongoing World Cup, Dream11 aims to gain even more. <br /><br />“We expect to have 90 million users by the end of the World Cup and 100 million by the end of 2019,” Bhavit Sheth, COO, Dream11 had told Business Insider in an interview earlier. <p>By now, you've almost assuredly heard of "Final Fantasy XV," the newest entry in one of gaming's most long-running franchises set to come out for PS4 in late November.&#xa0;</p><p>That's not what we're here to talk about.</p><p>No, there's actually a <em>second</em> "Final Fantasy" game coming out this fall that's taking the series in a decidedly cartoonish, goofy, nostalgia-laced direction.</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>It's called "World of Final Fantasy," and the very first thing you've probably noticed about it are how <em>giant</em> the characters' heads are, like those Funko Pop figurines come to life.</p><p>Though its childish art style might lead you to believe "World of Final Fantasy" is a small, short, bite-sized smartphone game, that's not the case at all. It's actually a fully fleshed-out RPG that will retail for the usual $60. It's flown under the radar so far, mostly because it's being overshadowed by the louder, more Shakespearean "Final Fantasy XV."</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>At once, "World of Final Fantasy" is both harkening back to a bygone era of "Final Fantasy" while also treading into some brand-new territory: It has traditional, turn-based combat that fans of older games will recognize and its packed with familiar characters from several older "Final Fantasy" titles - like Cloud Strife and Squall Leonhart - but it also has a lighter, humorous tone that's usually not present in "Final Fantasy."</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>For example, Andrew Goldfarb wrote the following <a href="http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/09/03/pax-2016-world-of-final-fantasy-might-be-the-funniest-game-in-the-series">for IGN</a> after getting some time with the game in early September:</p><p style="padding-left: 60px;">"'World of Final Fantasy''s humor really took me by surprise. Early on, [main characters] Lann and Reyne have wonderful banter as they explore Grymoire trying to get their memories back, and even break the fourth wall as they observe the circumstances they've found themselves in. They use decidedly un-'Final Fantasy'-like slang (calling a Queen "dude," for example), which prompts fun responses from the characters they encounter."&#xa0;</p><p>"World of Final Fantasy" will be available for PS4 and PS Vita on October 25, but you can snag a free demo of it from the PlayStation online store on October 17 to try it out.</p><p>I had written it off initially because of its childish art direction, but the buzz I'm hearing about "World of Final Fantasy" has been surprisingly positive. <ul><li>Dream11 founder Harsh Jain shared his plight with finding investors in the first few years of his startup that is now a unicorn.</li><li>At the TiE Global Summit 2019, Jain said that the first 150 investors refused to invest in Dream11 but he learnt a lot from those rejections.</li><li>It raised $110 million from Tencent. It turned unicorn (startup with a valuation of over $1 billion) in November 2019 </li><li>Its popularity skyrocketed after IPL and ICC signed them as the official partner.</li></ul>In 2009, Harsh Jain and Bhavit Sheth were living a fantasy. Those were times when iPhones were just becoming popular and smartphones are not all-pervading like they are –right now. Even for those who owned such phones, 2G powered data did not come cheap. Yet, the Founders of Dream11 were trying to raise money for a fantasy cricket game shaped after EPL, after IPL was launched a year back.<br /><br />“We had 150 people say ‘No’ before we got to our first funding. Perseverance is what it takes. Every single no came with a why, it taught me something about our business and how to grow,” Jain said at the TiE Global Summit (TGS). In a session chaired by Business Insider at the Summit — an annual event which showcased India's vibrant startup ecosystem — Jain shared the journey of his startup that introduced '<keyword id="6370198" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="fantasy-gaming">fantasy gaming</keyword>' as a business to India.<br /><br />The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) is a global not-for-profit organisation founded in 1992 by a bunch of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who had roots in the subcontinent. TiE helps startups with mentoring, networking, education, funding, and incubation. Dream11 founder Harsh Jain was a headliner at this year's edition of the TGS. <br /><br /><strong>The Dream journey</strong><br /><br />Within nine years, Dream11 raised $110 million from Tencent. It turned unicorn (startup with a valuation of over $1 billion) in November 2019 after a secondary investment from Steadview Capital, an Asia-focused alternative asset manager. <br /><br />Its popularity skyrocketed first after IPL and ICC both signed them on as the official partner. It now has 75 million users on its platform and has a robust model to go with - as it earns 15-20% of a gamer’s winnings.<br /><br />Jain believes that there is a lot of potential ahead for fantasy gaming. “India is a large market to address where 700 million people expected to use sports online in India in the next few years,” he said. Other than providing a platform for gaming, Jain believes that their offering provides with something more--- a way to overcome tediousness.<br /><br /> “Indians are bored that's why they keep looking at their phones. Suddenly because of Jio everyone has data and access, we need to engage them and provide entertainment. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced Dream11 as the official partner for the IPL. <br /><br />In a four-year exclusive contract, Dream11 will also take over the official fantasy game of IPL. <br /><br />Dream11 has IPL to thank for, for increasing its users over the years. The startup has grown from 300,000 users in 2004 to 51 million users today. Just during last year’s IPL, the gaming startup gained over 20 million users, Bhavit Sheth, COO and co-founder of Dream11 told Business Insider. <br /><br />Now, with the official partnership the numbers are only set to grow. <br /><br />“Dream11 is deeply integrating with the IPL, which is set to grow from its 1.4 billion TV impressions and 200 million online viewers in 2018, to achieve our goal of growing from 51 million users to 100 million users in 2019,” said Harsh Jain, CEO and co-founder of Dream11.<br /><br /> The startup which is on the brink of becoming India’s first gaming unicorn has been around for 11 years, although it saw its popularity reach the peak with last year’s IPL. Gaming startup Dream11 strikes gold as the official partner of IPL

<p>The startup, <a href="http://www.prediculous.com/">Prediculous</a>, is not trying to grab away loyal Fantasy Football or Fantasy Basketball fans, said CEO Taylor McLenore. Instead it wants to turn all the rest of us into screaming, cheering sports-app fanatics.</p>
<p>It will do that by making social, fantasy sports <keyword id="6354741" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Apps">apps</keyword> that are easy to use.</p>
<p>So far, the two-year old company has built a handful of short-lived, custom fantasy Facebook games and has scored some big advertising sponsorships from names like Subway, UPS and Allstate.</p>
<p>These include the 2011 Aikman Fantasy QB, where players created leagues of up to 100 teams, and let people join midseason, and the 2012 BracketInsanity game for March Madness. It also built the UPS Football Logistics app which was part game, part sweepstakes.</p>
<p>It's flagship game is, not surprisingly, called <a href="http://www.prediculous.net">Prediculous</a>. It lets people predict the future of anything in the worlds of sports, news, entertainment.</p>
<p>But next up is a big expansion into all sorts of other fantasy games. These will be for fans of sports like football, basketball, hockey, soccer, McLenore told attendees at the Venture Capital in the Rockies (VCIR) conference held this week in Beaver Creek, Colo.</p>
<p>Like its previous games, the new fantasy games will be easy to use and will let people participate mid-season.</p>

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Nearly 10&#xa0;years after its original release on the PlayStation 2, "Final Fantasy XII" is apparently getting "a remake" for modern consoles.<p>That's huge for one crucial reason: "Final Fantasy XII" is the only major "Final Fantasy" game that still hasn't made the jump to HD consoles.&#xa0;</p><p>The news comes from orchestra conductor Arnie Roth, who let slip word of a "Final Fantasy XII" release on modern consoles during a "Distant Worlds" concert on August 1 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Distant Worlds concerts are an orchestral presentation of music from the entire "Final Fantasy" series, and the <a href="http://www.ffdistantworlds.com/tickets/pittsburgh">August 1 show</a> had "Final Fantasy XII" composer Hitoshi Sakimoto in attendance.</p><p><a href="https://twitter.com/finalfantasynet/status/627677740821393408">Final Fantasy Network</a> found a video of Roth mentioning the release as a "remake" and put it up on YouTube, which we've embedded here:</p><p><div></div></p><p>The release of "Final Fantasy XII" hasn't been confirmed yet by the game's publisher, Square Enix. In fact, the "remake" may not be a "remake" at all, but an HD "remaster." There's another 'Final Fantasy' remake coming

<p>One of the biggest video games of 2016 just got pushed back by several months.</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>The latest entry in the long-running, enormously popular "Final Fantasy" role-playing game series was supposed to launch this September.</p><p>But the game's developer, Japanese company Square Enix, just announced a new release date: November 29.&#xa0;Sorry, "Final Fantasy" fans!</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>Games get delayed all the time, of course. The delay&#xa0;is especially notable with "Final Fantasy XV" because it's been in development (in one form or another) for nearly a decade.&#xa0;</p><p>The game's director Hajime Tabata&#xa0;posted a personal address to YouTube about the delay, wherein he apologized to fans and explained the new release date as a means of making the game in the best way&#xa0;possible.&#xa0;</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>"We have put our whole lives into developing this game, with the intent of bringing the highest quality of game experience to every single player who buys it," Tabata says in the video. "And I personally started developing 'Final Fantasy XV' from a desire to let everyone play a 'Final Fantasy' game that was so outstanding and amazing, that it would send other games running in panic."</p><p>In case it wasn't already clear, Tabata doesn't believe that the version of the game that exists now will deliver on his goal of sending "other game games running in panic." But he and his team are going to make sure that the game that arrives on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this November lives up to&#xa0;the high expectations he's set for it.</p><p>Fans are seemingly on board for the delay. "Take the time you need to make it the game you want. We've waited ten years, what's another two months?" writes one of the most recent commenters on the YouTube video. Dhoni was signed by the startup as its brand ambassador in 2018 for an undisclosed amount.<br /><br />With the upcoming frenzy of not just IPL but also the World Cup, e-sports platforms are looking at raking in a lot of business, targeting more users.
