We have been the torchbearer of sports with 19 sporting verticals from football, hockey, archery to horse riding, boxing, karate, racket sports. You name it, we have it," an official involved with the JRD Tata Sports Academy, which was inaugurated in 1991 in Jamshedpur, told PTI. The growth in Tata Group's sporting involvement under Ratan Tata was the continuation of a legacy. After all, Sir Dorabji Tata, who played cricket, tennis and football, was the first President of the Indian Olympic Association (1924). "He (Ratan Tata) was there at the launch of Jamshedpur FC in the ISL in 2017. he interacted with the players and coaches, took photos with them. They also presented him with a signed jersey. He was very happy to see the team coming up and playing in the top tier ISL," he recalled. The enigmatic businessman was there to launch the hockey academy in Jamshedpur in 2019. Fake news: Big B rubbishes reports on him undergoing angioplasty

The Mumbai police have registered a case against a gaming site and a Facebook page after <keyword id="19919207" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="sachin-tendulkar" source="keywords">Sachin Tendulkar</keyword> raised concerns over a deepfake video that falsely showed that the cricketing legend was promoting its gaming app, an official said on Thursday. An <keyword id="6358015" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FIR" source="Orion">FIR</keyword> has been registered under section 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code (<keyword id="19900921" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ipc" source="keywords">IPC</keyword>) and Section 66 (A) (sending offensive messages through communication service) of the IT Act on a complaint filed by the former cricketer's personal assistant at the West Region Cyber police station on Tuesday, the official said. Earlier, a deepfake video, carrying a digitally manipulated clip and voice of <keyword id="20012835" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tendulkar" source="keywords">Tendulkar</keyword>, was shared on Facebook in which it was falsely shown that the former ace batsman was promoting a gaming app. The deepfake also sought to create an impression that Tendulkar and his daughter Sara had won large sums of money by playing a certain online game. According to the complaint, the video was edited and posted on Facebook. It said deepfake technology was used to mimic Tendulkar's gesture and voice. At this stage, the police did not share details about the owner of the gaming site and the Facebook page. Tendulkar himself had flagged the fake video on his official X handle. He called the video a "disturbing" misuse of technology and stressed that it was fake. "These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads and apps like these in large numbers," Tendulkar had appealed on X. Social media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints, he said. "Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes," he had asserted.

According to officials, the cards were issued from Pune-based fintech startup 'One Card'. Joint Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range), Chhayya Sharma said that the accused forged government IDs of 95 celebrities and eminent persons to dupe banks of over Rs 50 lakhs. "The loophole is in documentation and backend verification which needs to be upgraded. All accused have good IT knowledge," said the top officer. On interrogation, it was revealed that they used to get GST details of these celebrities from Google. "They were very well aware that the first two digits of GSTIN are state code and the next 10 digits are PAN numbers. Since the celebrities' date of birth is available on Google, these two - PAN and date of birth - complete the PAN details," said an official privy to investigation. "They got the PAN cards remade fraudulently by putting their own pictures on them so that during video verification, their looks match the photo available on their PAN/Aadhaar card. "The accused used to apply for credit cards and during video verification, they were asked questions related to their financial activities which they answered easily as they had got all such details from CIBIL," the official added. The Singapore government is ramping up testing capacity with a view to starting nationwide COVID-19 testing, National Development Minister Lawrence Wong told Parliament. Minister for Communications and Information S Iswaran on Tuesday addressed the concerns of the migrant workers living in dormitories, who have been subject to stringent restrictions and active testing. Speaking in Tamil for workers from India, Iswaran explained the need to test them and their co-workers. The Indian-origin Singapore minister said the government has "undertaken numerous efforts to enhance the quality of food and facilities" within the dormitories. The video was dubbed in Bengali and forwarded to Bangladeshi workers via WhatsApp. "If tested positive, we will provide (your friends) with the necessary medical care fully paid by the government. We will provide you with the necessary quality medical care as we do for Singaporeans. This is our promise," said Iswaran. As of Monday, more than 5 per cent, or 16,383, of the 323,000 migrant workers living in dormitories have tested positive for the virus, including a large number of Indians. Many workers remain quarantined in their rooms, while the stay-home notice period for work permit and S Pass holders in the construction sector has been extended by another two weeks to May 18. Iswaran said he had approached four Indian stars to have them send their wishes and encouragement to the workers. The celebrities include actor Rajinikanth and former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Composer A R Rahman and actor Kamal Haasan have already conveyed their good wishes. Haasan said: "When we look after ourselves, don't forget that it is also like we are looking after the government. The government is not a separate entity from us, we are all part of the same ecosystem." Rahman urged the workers, like their countrymen in India, to follow the government's announcements and practise safe distancing. "It is in your hands for you all to be careful and stay safe," said the Oscar winning musician. Minister Iswaran said the workers should visit official sources such as gov.sg for correct information and not worry themselves with fake news. He said services in the dorms have been enhanced to make sure workers can communicate with their families, get necessary information from the Internet, and watch their favourite films, reported The Straits Times on Tuesday. Over the weekend, the government announced that some of the tough restrictions put in place during Singapore's circuit breaker period will continue till June 1. They were to be eased on Monday. For the lifting of COVID-19 "circuit breaker" measures to reopen businesses locally, the daily number of local community cases should fall to zero or single digits over a sustained period of time as well as lower the infection levels in foreign worker dormitories, Health Minister Gan Kim Yong had told the Parliament earlier. Throughout the #Rio2016 Games, fans around the world turned to <keyword id="6354616" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Twitter">Twitter</keyword> to cheer for thrilling victories, engage with athletes, see highlights, and share in the live experience. Over 187 Million Tweets were sent on the Games and in total, this led to 75 billion impressions (views on and off Twitter) of Tweets about the Olympic Games. 
 
As the event came to a close, folks at Twitter analyzed how the event performed on their portal. 
 Business Insider chatted with Aneesh Madani, Head of Sports Partnerships at <keyword id="749437" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Twitter-India">Twitter India</keyword> and he shared with us the top 5 trends during the 2016 Olympics. It tells a lot about how the Games unfolded on the social networking portal through the course of those two weeks when Indians were obsessing over Rio Olympics.

Aneesh told us – “The scale at which Indians came together to celebrate our women sporting heroes on Twitter has never been seen before. There were 2 million tweets around the performances of four women sportspersons - <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/PV-Sindhu-gets-India-Silver-medal-in-Badminton-at-Rio-Olympics-2016/articleshow/53774591.cms">PV Sindhu</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Sakshi-Malik-gets-rousing-welcome-says-she-always-wanted-win-an-Olympic-medal-for-India/articleshow/53839167.cms">Sakshi Malik,</a> Deepa Karmakar and <keyword id="487" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sania-Mirza">Sania Mirza</keyword>. The count was more than the number of tweets for the India-Pakistan and India-Australia matches combined during the World T20. Also, there were 1.48 million tweets on <keyword id="501707" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="PV-Sindhu">PV Sindhu</keyword> throughout Olympics, and 5.76 lakh tweets around <keyword id="6356003" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sakshi-Malik">Sakshi Malik</keyword>.” 
 
While public figures tweeted about how these athletes were an inspiration for them, the platform saw even mothers sharing tweets promising to share success stories of the athletes with their young daughters. “It was heartwarming to see Twitter being used for outpouring of emotions. It became the common channel of communication connecting athletes and fans. That was the top trend for us that defined Twitter during these two weeks,” Aneesh said. 
 
Fans and Olympians conversed with each other directly throughout the Games 
 
Twitter saw a spike in conversations between fans and Olympians even before Olympics began. <a href="https://twitter.com/DipaKarmakar/status/765015937032466432">Athletes posted videos</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/SakshiMalik/status/766260947463774208">tweeted pictures</a> before and after victory to thank fans for continued support. “Whether it was hockey team tweeting photos from the Rio Olympic village or Deepa Karmakar and Sakshi Malik joining Twitter after their respective win, Twitter saw direct and intimate conversations among Olympians and fans throughout the Games,” Aneesh said. 
 
He added – “The audience of our top 10 most followed Indian Olympians on Twitter grew by almost 12 times since London Games in 2012. During Rio Olympics, PV Sindhu had her Twitter following grow by 7 times. Deepa and Sakshi who joined later already have over 60,000 followers in merely less than a week.” 
 Moreover, ministers like Sushma Swaraj, celebrities like <keyword id="6357912" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="amitabh-bachchan">Amitabh Bachchan</keyword> and sportspersons like Sachin Tendulkar became fans of our women players. They were all using Twitter to express their pleasure in seeing the girls perform well in the Games. 
 
“Twitter infact saw for the first time a cricket icon like <a href="https://twitter.com/sachin_rt">Sachin Tendulkar</a> even live-tweet <a href="https://twitter.com/sachin_rt/status/766644969616478213">the final match between Sindhu and Carolina Marin</a>,” Aneesh said. 
 
An Ecosystem emerged on Twitter, something no one knew of earlier 
 
There are organizations like Olympic Gold Quest, JSW Sports and Gosports who have been tirelessly working with Olympians, supporting their training and preparation for years quietly. For instance, Olympic Gold Quest has been supporting PV Sindhu since she was 14. 
 
“As soon as some of our women athletes clinched medals, there was a lot of conversation on Twitter around how these organizations have helped Olympic athletes become rather great performers. Athletes, fans and sports journalists came together to highlight the work these institutions have been doing and it really brought awareness around this ecosystem which will hopefully get stronger as people connect to these organizations in the times to come,” said Aneesh. 
 
Twitteratis engaged on the need for accountability from sports administrators 
 
During the first week when Indian players came close to medals, but couldn’t get them, Twitter engaged in conversations on how there is a need for better accountability from administrators, and the support Indian athletes need to excel at Olympics. 
 
Humour around Games united non-sports enthusiasts on Twitter 
 
Sporting events like Olympics are bringing people together like never before, and in a fun way. For instance, there were <a href="https://twitter.com/TheEllenShow/status/765303894159208448">iconic photographs of Usain Bolt</a> being circulated. It got people talking, even those who might not even care about sports or certain sports in Olympics. 
 
In a nutshell, Indian women players not only created history by making it to Rio Games, they united Indians to celebrate women players and different sports. They created history.
