A continuation set in the same period, titled "Bass Reeves" and starring David Oyelowo as the legendary Wild West lawman, is already <a href="https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/david-oyelowo-taylor-sheridan-bass-reeves-series-paramount-cast-demi-singleton-1235541069/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">well into filming.</a>In short, Sheridan is proving himself to be a one-man powerhouse for Paramount.<h2>The new flagship show could be '6666,' a series that Sheridan has been developing for two years</h2>While no details have been shared yet, it's possible that the new McConaughey-led show could be the long-teased spinoff revolving around life on the 6666 (pronounced Four Sixes) Ranch, a real-life ranch in Texas that Sheridan <a href="https://fortworthreport.org/2022/01/22/legendary-four-sixes-ranch-sold-to-yellowstone-producer-taylor-sheridan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">snapped up after it went on the market for $347.7 million in 2020</a>.First announced in <a href="https://deadline.com/2021/02/yellowstone-spinoff-mayor-of-kingstown-land-man-taylor-sheridan-slate-paramount-plus-1234700272/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">early 2021</a>, the series — which has been given the tentative title "6666" — was originally billed as a period piece taking place in the mid-19th century "when Comanches still ruled West Texas."However, this doesn't line up with what viewers saw when they were introduced to life on the 6666 in season four of "Yellowstone."Instead, in what was essentially a season-long backdoor pilot, audiences were introduced to the modern-day ranchers working and living on the centuries-old and county-spanning ranch. "Kevin Costner is a big part of 'Yellowstone,' and we hope that's the case for a long time to come." Still, the statement didn't exactly put to bed the rumors, going on to add: "Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we'd love to partner."It's not difficult to imagine a scenario in which a partnership with McConaughey has already taken place, especially when you consider that just three months ago, <a href="https://deadline.com/2022/12/taylor-sheridan-harrison-ford-helen-mirren-yellowstone-spinoff-1923-bob-bakish-shock-1883-cast-killed-off-interview-1235202720/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sheridan bragged</a> to Deadline that he has a "show that no one knows much about" that has "got probably four of the biggest movie stars alive in it." The two-time Oscar winner shows up briefly at the beginning of the show's second episode in a flashback sequence as George Meade, a real-life Union general during the Civil War. Hanks grumbles maybe two words and pats Tim McGraw's character James Dutton on the shoulder before taking him prisoner in the aftermath of the war. Sheridan recently renewed a mega deal with Paramount's parent company <keyword id="7982474" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="viacomcbs" source="Orion">ViacomCBS</keyword> and is <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/more-tv-shows-from-yellowstone-creator-1883-mayor-of-kingstown-2022-1">developing more shows</a> for the Paramount+ streaming service, including another "Yellowstone" spinoff. Sheridan's deal is worth nine figures, according to <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/taylor-sheridan-renews-viacomcbs-deal-sets-yellowstone-prequel-at-paramount-4125775/">The Hollywood Reporter.</a>It's no surprise that ViacomCBS would want to court Sheridan. It said that "1883" was Paramount+'s most-watched original series debut yet. So, without access to "Yellowstone," I dove into "1883" on Paramount+, which I do have a paid subscription to.Fortunately, one doesn't need to have watched "Yellowstone" in order to understand what's happening and like "1883," and critics largely agree. The show has an 85% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. <a href="https://variety.com/2021/tv/reviews/1883-yellowstone-review-1235134962/">Variety's review</a> said: "'1883' has the characters, the scope, and the vision to become an exciting new chapter of the 'Yellowstone' franchise, as well as a rare example of a spin-off that never feels beholden to its source material."The show is an old-fashioned Western that stars Sam Elliot, real-life couple McGraw and Faith Hill as James and Margaret Dutton, and Isabel May as their daughter Elsa, who lends some heavy-handed narration to the series with lines like, "God lit this day with candles."The show follows the Duttons on a journey across the American West, which I assume will eventually lead them to the ranch depicted in "Yellowstone." The only benefit in watching "Yellowstone" might be more of an investment in the Duttons and their family lineage, but it's not a prerequisite. <div type="image" title="1883" height="1366" width="2038" msid="88886290" hostid="261"></div>While I haven't seen "Yellowstone," I have enjoyed some of Sheridan's other work. The Oscar-nominated movie "Hell or High Water," which he wrote, is one of the great modern-day Westerns."1883" showcases Sheridan's enthusiasm for cowboy tales (he grew up on a ranch in Texas) with authentic and gorgeous scenery. It apparently wasn't easy, though. <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/16/arts/television/1883-yellowstone-prequel.html">The New York Times</a> recently detailed the harsh five-month shoot that was still going into January, after the series had debuted. Elliot told the Times it was "difficult" but ultimately worth it."We're getting it onscreen, and in the end that's what matters," Elliot told the Times. "This is really going to be something special."And the series is special, in the sense that it showcases how <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/reviews/out?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.paramountplus.com%2F" rel="nofollow sponsored">Paramount+</a>can capitalize on the success of a hit cable series it doesn't have the streaming rights to. Sheridan and "Yellowstone" are brands now, same as Paramount+'s other franchises or brands, from "Star Trek" to Nickelodeon. In a crowded streaming landscape, popular brands and franchises matter.ViacomCBS added 4.3 million global subscribers in the thid quarter across its services, including Paramount+ and Showtime, increasing its total paid streaming users to 47 million. I've watched the four episodes that are available and episode five drops on Saturday. For example, the top bands on the list all cost at least $100,000 and even most of those will cost somewhere around a quarter of a million.

Marathon Bombings No Laughing Matter To Late Night Hosts - Here's Today's Buzz

Sure, it's slightly disappointing to be duped after thinking the flawless performance we saw was live; however, we shouldn't be that surprised.
In fact, she'll most likely be lip-synching (at least part of) her Super Bowl halftime performance as well. 
In no way are we endorsing lip-synching and saying it's completely fine to do; however, the "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNg9mTiFDq8" target="_blank">Run the World</a>" singer isn't the first to lip-sync a pre-recorded version of "The Star Spangled Banner," and most certainly won't be the last. 
Since the early '90s, it's become more commonplace for singers to perform with pre-recorded <keyword id="6354530" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="music">music</keyword>, especially when performing the <keyword id="100239" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="National-Anthem">National Anthem</keyword>, in order to prevent anything outside of perfection in their routines. 
In the past few years, Jennifer Hudson <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/WinterConcert/story?id=6788924&amp;page=1">lip-synched the anthem at the 2009 Super Bowl</a>, Britney Spears has done it at <a href="http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/britney-spears-extremely-upset-by-australia-lip-synch-controversy-20091109">Circus concert performances</a>, and there was even speculation that Aretha Franklin <a href="http://www.contactmusic.com/news-article/did-aretha-lip.sync-national-anthem.">lip-synched the anthem</a> at a Lakers game in 2004.

Singers are told to submit pre-recordings of their shows.</div>Though live performances such as Britney's are more questionable – fans are dishing out a lot of money expecting a live performance – the Super Bowl requires performers <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/WinterConcert/story?id=6788924&amp;page=1" target="_blank">submit backup tracks a week before showtime</a>, a prerequisite that has been in place since 1993. 
Pregame show producer Rickey Minor told the <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/WinterConcert/story?id=6788924&amp;page=1">Associated Press in 2009</a> he asked that both Hudson and Faith Hill sing the National Anthem and "America the Beautiful" respectively using tracks they submitted. 
"That's the right way to do it," said Minor. "There's too many variables to go live. I would never recommend any artist go live because the slightest glitch would devastate the performance." 
In the past few years, we've seen "glitches" ranging from <a href="http://voices.washingtonpost.com/celebritology/2011/02/christina_aguilera_botches_nat.html">Christina Aguilera during the 2011 Super Bowl</a> and Jesse McCartney's <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrHsOQfiptA">verse-skipping rendition at a Nascar event in 2009</a>. 
But, the lip-synching has been around far longer than that by stars bigger than Beyoncé. 
<a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2012/02/14/does-it-matter-if-whitney-houstons-star-spangled-banner-was-lip-synched/">Whitney Houston, lip-synched the National Anthem</a> during the height of her career in 1991 before Super Bowl XXV.

Houston's performance wasn't a complete lip-sync. The late singer's former spokesperson Dan Klores told the <a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2012/02/14/does-it-matter-if-whitney-houstons-star-spangled-banner-was-lip-synched/">Wall Street Journal</a> she did sing — just into a dead mic which only allowed <keyword id="6360040" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="people">people</keyword> 200 feet in front of her to hear. 
According to Klores, Super Bowl performers required a recording to be made even then.
