The move aims to prevent undesired delays by streamlining preparations for the assembly elections due in a few months, BJP's Mumbai unit chief <keyword id="6367689" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ashish-Shelar" source="Orion">Ashish Shelar</keyword> told reporters on Sunday. "The core committee (of the state unit) has met in Mumbai to delegate all decision-making powers concerning seat-sharing and the selection of assembly constituencies to Fadnavis," he said. Party observer and Union minister Bhupender Yadav, BJP national secretary Vinod Tawde, Union minister and Mumbai North MP Piyush Goyal also attended the meeting. Of the 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra, the BJP won 104 in 2019. Shelar confirmed finalisation of the "formula for winning, besides the planning and seat-sharing arrangements with the allies". "Fadnavis has been granted full authority in this regard," he said. The BJP-led Mahayuti, also comprising Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena and the NCP headed by Ajit Pawar, won only 17 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the recent parliamentary polls. The BJP's tally came down to 9 from 23 five years ago. The Maha Vikas Aghadi, consisting of the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP), bagged 30 seats. Shelar said, "We have decided to save time by streamlining the planning, discussions, and decision-making processes with all the NDA constituents to finalise the candidates. Once this is done, we can begin preparations for the assembly polls. The list of candidates will be released at the appropriate time." After the BJP's Lok Sabha tally came down to 9 in Maharashtra, Fadnavis had offered to quit the deputy CM's post to enable him to focus on party work ahead of assembly elections. Later, after a party meeting where state BJP legislators passed a resolution reposing faith in him, Fadnavis said he would continue to work.

PM Modi shares stage with Sharad Pawar at Tilak award ceremony in Pune

Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister <keyword id="6355042" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="devendra-fadnavis" source="Orion">Devendra Fadnavis</keyword>, who also holds the finance portfolio, presented a Rs 547,450 crore budget for 2023-2024 showing huge fiscal and revenue deficits, here on Thursday. As per the budget estimates, the state plans to spend Rs 547,450 crore with an estimated revenue receipt of Rs 449,522 crore over a revenue expenditure of Rs 465,645 crore, resulting in a revenue shortfall of Rs 16,211 crore - down from Rs 24,353 crore over 2022-2023. The state remains at the lead in fiscal reforms, consistently maintaining the revenue deficit below 1 per cent of the state gross domestic product (SGDP). The state government has also succeeded in keeping the fiscal deficit below 3 per cent of the SGDP, and the fiscal deficit for 2023-2024 is estimated at a whopping Rs 95,500.8 crore - up from Rs 89,598 crore over 2022-2023. <keyword id="62011" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="fadnavis" source="Orion">Fadnavis</keyword> said that the budget is based on five major goals  'Panchamrut'  covering the farmers, inclusive development, infrastructure, employment and environment. Accordingly, he has allocated Rs 29,163 crore for sustainable farming and prosperous farmers; Rs 43,036 crore for inclusive development of all sections of society, including women, children, tribals, BC/OBCs; Rs 53,058.55 crore for infrastructure development with substantial capital investment; Rs 11,658 crore for competent, skilled jobs creation for the youth; and Rs 13,437 crore for environment-friendly development. The budget's outlay for scheme expenditures has been fixed at Rs 172,000 crore, including Rs 13,820 crore for Scheduled Caste Plan and Rs 12,655 crore for Tribal Sub-plan, besides announcing several new corporations for different communities to boost their economic development, said Fadnavis. Maha proposes ₹547,450 crore budget with huge fiscal, revenue deficits

In fact, MLAs too have been complaining about his uppity nature which not only let his son keep three ministries under him, but was not meeting MLAs, and has been tight fisted about distribution of public funds as well. “MLAs receive funds from the government to spend towards their constituents. A lot of MLAs have been unhappy that Congress gets a larger share of these funds and that has made them weaker in their constituencies,” said a Sena insider who has been working with the party for over ten years. In fact, that’s the introduction scene of the recently-released Marathi movie ‘Dharam Veer’ which is a biopic made on Dighe. After members of a Brahmin society complain in the darbar about the nuisance created by a Thane dance bar closeby, Shinde dashes into a bar, hitting the offenders and bringing them to his knees. The Sena insider also tells another secret behind Shinde’s power – he is the moneymaker. In fact, he is richer than another Sena member Sanjay Raut, who is currently being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). “The fact that ED never did touch him in spite of how rich he was, shows that he was probably hand in glove with BJP for a long time,” the insider says. Both Uddhav and Shinde have arsenals — the former has legacy, a newspaper, and now even sympathy. The latter has money, men and the support of a national party — and now he also holds power. It’s left to be seen what people choose to go for — backing a winner or picking the underdog — both popular vote banks in India. Many MLAs who were watchmen, rickshaw drivers, and paan shopkeepers - we made them ministers. He simply asked them to come back and meekly vacated the CM’s bungalow, resigning to his fate – long before he resigned from his post yesterday on June 29, a day before the floor test was ordered by the governor B S S Koshiyari, an RSS veteran. If the Maha crisis as it is being called is a test Uddhav Thackeray’s fortitude, then he accepted his defeat with grace that befits an artist more than a politician.
