"He's going to take a chainsaw through calcified butter, and it's going to be awesome to attack the bloat and overreach that we've had in the government."Trump is <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-could-be-donald-trump-advisor-wsj-reports-2024-5">reportedly considering Musk</a> for White House roles, including ones that would audit various federal programs and organizations.Musk, in turn, has proposed creating a "Department of Government Efficiency" — cheekily nicknamed DOGE, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/history-elon-musk-love-affair-dogecoin-2022-7">a nod to the cryptocurrency Dogecoin</a> — that he said would remove dealmaking regulations that have slowed M&amp;A in the tech sector in recent years.While many in Silicon Valley dislike Trump, many VCs and startup founders crave more freedom to pursue riskier new technologies unburdened by regulation. In short, tech is stoked about this."Trump-Vance ticket is the first unabashedly pro-tech presidency in our Nation's history," said Augustus Doricko, CEO and founder of cloud seeding startup Rainmaker. He expects an onslaught of tech innovation during the Trump administration.In conversations with more than a dozen VCs and Silicon Valley executives following the election, many have echoed this sentiment — including those who supported Kamala Harris in the election."With a major push to remove unnecessary red tape and over-regulation in key areas, we could really have a century of crazy building, innovation, and acceleration," Aaron Levie, the CEO of cloud company Box and a Harris supporter, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://twitter.com/levie/status/1854237056287060266">posted on X Wednesday. </a>"Excited for Elon's efforts here."Mark Pincus, an early Facebook investor and the founder of Zynga, responded on X, "Effective accelerationism! E-acc," referring to the recent Silicon Valley movement that wants <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/effective-accelerationism-humans-replaced-by-ai-2023-12">technological advancements in AI</a> to move as fast as possible, without any guardrails.<h2 id="04af9d99-2642-43c3-875c-92cb63b01ca9">Regulation has held Silicon Valley back in recent years</h2>VCs during Biden's presidency have complained about how tough it's been to get deals done. The outgoing administration was an antitrust enforcer and put many tech mergers and acquisitions on hold that it deemed anti-competitive. This is particularly galling for VCs because they rely on selling startups in M&amp;A deals for many of their exits and returns.Limits on tech M&amp;A have "caused the rate of venture capital return of distributed proceeds to fall drastically, making new capital formation near impossible," said Louis Lehot, a top tech lawyer at law firm Foley &amp; Lardner. Silicon Valley is looking for a relaxation in the government's stance here "to enable exits and new capital formation, which is the cycle of innovation," he added.For example, regulatory pressure had <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-07-23/google-s-aborted-deals-for-wiz-hubspot-show-antitrust-s-shadow-over-tech">dampened deal-making at Google</a>, with the tech giant abandoning two potential purchases this year, including cybersecurity startup Wiz, which would have been one of the tech giant's biggest-ever acquisitions.The US also opened antitrust investigations into <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-acquihire-deal-inflection-ai-antitrust-probe-us-regulators-competition-2024-6">Microsoft</a> and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elizabeth-warren-backs-justice-department-nvidia-antitrust-investigation-2024-9">Nvidia</a> earlier this year over their dominance in the hot AI space. The Federal Trade Commission is probing Microsoft's aqui-hire of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-hired-inflection-team-amid-board-concerns-about-openai-2024-3">Inflection AI,</a> and the Department of Justice is investigating Nvidia's acquisition of Israeli AI startup Run:ai.While some lawmakers say that allowing a few companies to influence the majority of AI research, development, and monetization poses an economic risk, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-vcs-in-silicon-valley-2024-7">many VCs have cried foul and accused FTC commissioner Lina Khan</a> — who has frequently sued to block mergers — of an anti-business bent and say it's tricked down to closing fewer startups deals, too.Investors were also critical of what they call <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cryptocurrency-bitcoin-influence-election-trump-harris-2024-10">unclear rules for cryptocurrency under the Biden regulation</a>. At the end of Trump's first term, regulators under his administration launched antitrust investigations into Big Tech companies, including Amazon; and filed antitrust lawsuits against Google and Meta."At a high level, we expect Trump to cut corporate taxes and regulations, helping startup M&amp;A and investment," said Mason Angel, general partner at Industrious Ventures. "We may see new acquisition efforts by big tech with a new FTC director."Musk's influence could also help slim down the government's involvement in tech deals, these VCs told BI."Elon is a positive force who's had to run multiple companies that are heavily regulated, so he has a realistic view; since he's lived it, he can be influential," Narasin said of Musk's track record of building Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI. "He's pro-startup, pro-business, pro-everything that will help the US population. A good, healthy economy is good for everybody."<h2 id="a31623cb-2e54-4906-802e-37c294e98064">VCs anticipate an innovation boom</h2>America is a country of entrepreneurs, and that's especially true in Silicon Valley. Some VCs and founders say that having an entrepreneur like Musk influencing the Trump administration and potentially wiping away regulations will bring prosperity to the industry.Indeed, <a target="_blank" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/trump-trade-us-presidential-election-dollar-treasuries-stocks-crypto-djt-2024-11">the stock market responded exuberantly</a> to Trump's decisive win on Tuesday night, which could eventually be a boon to venture firms seeking investments. Limited partners such as pensions and endowments have been choosier recently thanks to high interest rates and few exit options for startups. But their return to funding venture firms would, in turn, mean that more founders are building and getting funded."I would like to see the President given the power to unilaterally remove, or at least streamline, regulations around major projects or economic areas that will make it possible to actually build new things," tech blogger Ben Thompson <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://stratechery.com/2024/president-trump-take-two-big-tech-little-tech-chips-and-hardware-elon-musks-triumph/">wrote after the election.</a> "There needs to be a way to cut through all of the red tape that has accumulated.""I think the next four years will be imbued with aspirational mega-projects and visionary initiatives without precedent," Rainmaker's Doricko said. "New cities. Lunar and Martian colonization. Free electricity. Weather control."Angel, whose VC firm invests in the space, industrial, and defense sectors, says that those industries will experience strong growth."Trump created the Space Force in 2019, and his close relationship with Elon Musk will bring renewed attention and government investment into the field," Industrious Ventures' Angel said. Silicon Valley is betting a Musk-inspired Trump could unleash a startup boom

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Ivan Maryasin founded Monite after moving from Silicon Valley to Berlin.</li><li>He said building a business in the US is expensive due to hiring and living costs.</li></ul>This as-told-to essay is based on a transcribed conversation with Ivan Maryasin, 31, about moving from the US to Germany and launching his startup, Monite, in Berlin. The following has been edited for length and clarity.In 2014, I left Russia to do my master's in international business at the Hult International Business School in Massachusetts.I had a background in marketing from jobs in Russia and wanted to <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/work-visa-moved-usa-canada-immigrants-2024-7">work in America</a>. While studying, I started working in the IT industry, doing marketing. It was a great introduction to innovation and startups.During my course, I transferred to the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/san-francisco-new-york-london-tech-where-to-live-2024-8">San Francisco</a> campus and then stuck around working for multiple tech companies, designing and implementing growth strategies.But in 2017, I <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/surprising-things-moving-to-germany-from-us-2024-9">moved to Germany</a> to be closer to my then-fiancée, who I'd met in Moscow. We found it challenging to find a visa pathway that allowed her to move to the US and work as a dependant, so we both moved to Berlin. I got an EU Blue Card, and she was able to come with me as my partner with permission to <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/german-vs-american-work-life-differences-according-to-us-mom-2024-4">work in Germany</a>.I already had plans to start my own company. However, as the cost of living in the US was starting to climb, I thought Europe would be a great location for a new business.I planned to continue working for startups in Europe before launching my company. I worked in HR tech and fintech, and in 2020, I cofounded <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/monite/company_financials">Monite</a>, a company that enables SMB platforms like Neobanks to embed automated features for things like invoicing to support their clients.I built the startup from the ground up to a 45-person team and raised over <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/monite-german-fintech-startup-raises-6m-funding-from-valar-ventures-2024-2#:~:text=The%20startup%20has%20raised%20a%20top%2Dup%20to%20its%20seed%20round%2C%20led%20by%20Third%20Prime%2C%20in%20March%202023%2C%20taking%20its%20total%20funding%20to%20%2417.4%20million">$17 million</a> from investors.I like <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/things-to-do-in-berlin-germany-best-activities">Berlin</a> because it's a more affordable place to live and build a business, plus it's well connected to the rest of Europe. Here's how its startup ecosystem compares to <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/dating-silicon-valley-big-tech-hard-want-marriage-kids-2024-7">Silicon Valley</a>.<h2 id="e195bed4-45cb-4bba-ae91-f1e151fc0492">Berlin was a more affordable location to start Monite</h2>When I left the US, I visited multiple places in Europe and spoke to people in several cities, including Zurich, Barcelona, and <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/biggest-surprises-moving-to-london-according-to-american-2024-10">London</a>, to help me decide where to move. Part of the reason I chose Berlin is because its tech scene was really on the rise.There were a lot of founder meetups, pitch events, and accelerators in the city. Local funding was also available. At that time, I felt German funds had strong institutional support and seemed the most forthcoming in Europe. It's very common to speak English in Berlin, and I feel this is an advantage for startups because it attracts talent from the US, UK, and beyond.The cost of <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-start-and-grow-a-business-founders-advice-2023-1">building a business</a> in the US is high due to the cost of living and hiring. As long as I could still fundraise in the US, which became easier because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I preferred Europe. My journey in the States made it easier for me to know how the US market worked when it came to fundraising.The cost of living in Berlin is lower. When I lived in San Francisco and the Valley, I paid more in rent and needed a car to get around. In Berlin, I mostly get around by bike. Everything is a few minutes away, and there's less traffic.Berlin is well-connected to Europe. You can get almost anywhere in Europe in a few hours. Having moved from California, it was wonderful to be able to see family members in Europe and go on getaways more easily.<h2 id="42d233d4-0ad7-46eb-b81a-fdfde2cf12fc">There are some downsides to living in Berlin</h2>It's difficult to find US-level talent in Europe. A lot of <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/europe-best-cities-work-life-balance-ranking-2023-6">Europeans are focused on work-life balance</a>, but I'm a workaholic.It's hard to find people with the same values or who'll know what you're talking about when you say, "Silicon Valley benchmark." This refers to the strong emphasis on rapid scaling, competitiveness, and continuous self-improvement. In the US, I had friends working for LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Facebook, so I could see this benchmark in front of me.The European investment ecosystem is much more risk-averse. In America, failure is seen as part of the game, with a strong focus on the potential upside.In Europe, the approach tends to be more cautious and conservative, with more emphasis on mitigating risks. I do think that's now starting to shift, but historically, that's been one of the hardest things to overcome in the market.I feel lucky and grateful to have raised money and for the support I've had. However, it's not easy to be a founder without a background in Germany because having local connections has traditionally been valuable. In the US, it isn't unusual to be a foreign founder.While <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/german-vs-american-parenting-relocation-berlin-kids-independent-helicopter-parenting-2024-10">living in Berlin</a>, I think it's necessary to be strategic about getting the assets I need from other places. Monite is headquartered in Berlin, and I mostly live here, but I also travel a lot to places like the US and London to meet people and get inspiration. We also have a couple of employees in the States.<h2 id="bc7c8b3f-e6df-4494-bc91-d8696a768513">I like living in Europe, but wouldn't rule out returning to America</h2>Most people in Silicon Valley are focused on startups and innovation. If you're all about work and want to focus 24/7, Silicon Valley is the place to be.But that also depends on whether you can be there. It's not accessible to everyone due to the high visa barriers. For example, the H-1B visa has a lottery system, and I know people who went to MIT and Harvard who either didn't want the hassle or didn't win the lottery, so had to leave.Living in the Valley wasn't for me because it meant compromising on family relationships and the ability to see friends in Europe.That said, I won't say I'd never go back to San Francisco. If the business required me to be in the States, I'd find a way to make it work for my family. That's in stark contrast to a broad retreat amid other tech giants, as leading firms such as <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/stocks/msft-stock">Microsoft</a>, <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/stocks/googl-stock">Alphabet</a>, and <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/stocks/meta-stock">Meta</a> curbed their startup activity. In fact, the Facebook parent company suspended venture initiatives altogether in 2023. Pullbacks also extend to other firms that are historically leaders in corporate venturing, such as SoftBank Group and Tencent Holdings. Only IBM and Amazon expanded investments, which grew 100% and 13% year-on-year.Nvidia's participation in 38 funding rounds also made the semiconductor juggernaut the fourth-biggest corporate venture investor of the year. Ahead of it stand Microsoft, Softbank, and Alphabet.The firm tunneled $872 million in non-affiliated firms in the first nine months, according to its third-quarter report. The total value of rounds surpasses $5 billion, S&amp;P Global cited. Its rise in the space has been facilitated by the company's stellar stock and revenue outperformance in 2023. Nvidia's shares jumped roughly 225% through the year, as its chips have become an <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/nvidia-stock-price-value-ai-investing-tech-rally-bernstein-amd-2024-1">integral component of emerging artificial intelligence technology</a>.Within just two quarters, the company nearly tripled its revenues, hitting $18.1 billion for the year in the <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/nvidia-stock-price-third-quarter-earnings-revenue-ai-artificial-intelligence-2023-11">company's last earnings report</a>. Investors are betting that <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/stocks/nvda-stock">Nvidia's product roadmap</a> and more AI frenzy will only continue to boost growth.With so much capital, this has allowed Nvidia to unleash its cash pile on smaller companies. The firm's 2022 termination of a deal to <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/nvidia-stock-price-acquire-arm-softbank-agree-semiconductor-billion-tech-2020-9-1029586175">acquire Arm Holdings</a> suggests that bigger M&amp;A deals are off the table, S&amp;P Global said.The firm is largely interested in emerging technologies that propel it deeper into the AI space. Last year, it invested into 11 firms that deal with AI infrastructure, while also focusing on generative AI developers. Nvidia's investment in startups has nearly tripled as other tech heavyweights pull back

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Headway's CEO shifted to an AI-focused strategy after a Silicon Valley trip in April 2023.</li><li>AI tools boosted Headway's marketing, achieving 3.3 billion ad impressions in early 2024.</li></ul>In the first weeks after OpenAI released ChatGPT to the public in 2022, Anton Pavlovsky, the chief executive of the Ukrainian edtech startup <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://makeheadway.com/">Headway</a>, was wary of the artificial-intelligence hype.He decided his then-three-year-old company should adopt a defensive strategy, letting other companies take the lead in generative-AI investments, and reaping the benefits afterward, should they indeed come.But a business trip to Silicon Valley the following April completely changed Pavlovsky's thinking."I talked with so many very smart people with lots of experience, and those people said that this is definitely a paradigm shift," Pavlovsky said. "They said that it's akin to the internet, the world wide web, then the smartphone, and then AI."On his return, he implemented a companywide, four-month, hardcore focus on AI. The company also created a separate cross-functional team to help integrate AI-powered features into its various products.Pavlovsky said the use of AI tools has made a profound difference to the company's marketing performance.During the first six months of 2024, the company said AI-driven ads reached 3.3 billion impressions. The company said the use of AI tools had increased the return on investment from its video ads by 40% because it had helped lower the costs Headway would have previously spent on production. Headway declined to disclose its marketing budget but said it is in the "millions.""The biggest impact is on opportunity costs for people, it's freeing up so many resources on creative and more value-add endeavors for experimenting with crazy ideas," Pavlovsky said.Headway joins a growing number of marketers looking to harness AI tools, in part to reduce their advertising costs.The buy-now-pay-later firm <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/klarna-ceo-comments-ai-smaller-marketing-team-produce-more-savings-2024-5">Klarna made waves</a> when it said AI had helped cut its spend on marketing agencies by 25%. A recent <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.gartner.com/en/marketing/topics/ai-in-marketing">Gartner study</a> predicted that 30% of outbound marketing messages from large companies would be synthetically generated by 2025. The rapid adoption of the tools has the marketing industry excited about AI's prospects, but some are <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ai-is-set-to-dominate-cannes-lions-ad-festival-2024-6">uneasy</a> about the consequences for agency jobs and question <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ai-has-marketing-problem-people-dont-like-hearing-about-it-2024-8">whether consumers are ready</a> for an influx of ads using or mentioning AI.<h2 id="5283ce02-8cac-4410-a913-fe59c246f13c">Headway is using AI tools like HeyGen, Rask, and Midjourney</h2>Founded in Ukraine in 2019, Headway operates a portfolio of educational apps that combined have been downloaded by more than 110 million users worldwide. The company continues to be headquartered in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, though most of its users are based in the US. (The company <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1018097949135255&amp;id=250289965916061&amp;set=a.351463732465350">previously said</a> after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, it had helped the majority of its staff and families who wanted to move away from the country to do so, though some have since returned.)Its flagship app, Headway, offers 15-minute summaries of popular nonfiction books, as well as challenges and daily micro-learning sessions. Other apps in its portfolio include the brain-training app Impulse, the AddMile coaching platform, and its newest, Skillsta, which is a training app for soft skills like critical thinking and empathy. The company makes money through paid subscriptions.Headway has leaned heavily on advertising on digital platforms like Meta's Instagram and Facebook, Google, and TikTok in order to grow its user base.All of Headway's user-generated-content video ads are now produced using some element of AI technology, such as for subtitles or voiceovers, the company said. <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-make-money-from-ugc-user-generated-content-ads">UGC ads</a> refer to those that blend in with other content on an app, such as vertical video ads on TikTok and YouTube Shorts, and are often produced by creators rather than professional production teams. The wealth is there, you know, whatever data we have shows that you know, maybe two trillion to three trillion dollars of wealth is there in private hands in India. So some of that has to actually flow into this ecosystem,” Gopalakrishnan said. “You can directly invest, you can invest through funds you can invest fund of fund, in other various mechanisms that are available,” he added. The Modi government hopes that companies that are now looking to move facilities out of China ⁠— partly due to the pandemic and partly due to escalating tensions between US and China ⁠— will want to move to India. The government may be hoping for too much too soon. “The changes in the physical space take more time than changes in the digital space,” Gopalakrishnan said, highlighting that immediate opportunities are in the tech sector⁠— from telecom giants like Jio, Vodafone, and Airtel to emerging startups. The space for more unicorns Gopalakrishnan believes that gives Indian startups have an edge over the bigger and older firms and that makes them attractive to both investors and the government. “In my discussions with the government offic ials, they said startups responded faster than established companies because they had less bureaucracy and less worries about you know, what impact it would have on the business etc,” he said, adding that India “will have a large number of unicorns,” and “significant investments coming into India to take advantage of the opportunity.” And some of this money should flow into research and development as well. "..you know less than 0.1% of private investment is going into R&amp;D in India,” he added. Waiting for foreign capital is a loss of opportunity Reliance Jio attracted six new investors in the last six weeks, and all of them were foreign. “Now the Indian venture and private equity capital has 95% to 96% traditionally been international capital… whereas in other countries it is more than fifty percent namely China and technically if you take Europe and the US it's all domestic capital anyway,” Sethi said. Gopalakrishnan couldn't agree more. “We need some of these companies to be owned by Indians, right so that you know, it's not just about ownership it's about the wealth creation effect of this right that's why I would encourage all Indian funds, family offices to look at a portion of their investable wealth to go to these class of assets, these startups,” he chimed in. <ul><li><keyword id="736869" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Facebook-India">Facebook India</keyword>’s Managing Director, <keyword id="3056724" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ajit-Mohan">Ajit Mohan</keyword>, highlights three ways that <keyword id="530191" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="technology-startups">technology startups</keyword> in India need to transform.</li><li>Bridging the gender divide, expanding financial inclusion and focusing on job creation is how startups can help the Indian economy hit its goal of $5 trillion. </li><li>Tech giants, like Facebook, can play their part by directly investing in technology startups.</li></ul> Ajit Mohan, the Managing Director of Facebook India, was a part of Hotstar’s growth story, seven years back. Having been a part of the start-up economy, Mohan believes that its time for them to create an impact after an explosion in connectivity and Internet users. "I would suggest that a company like Facebook and my colleagues at IAMAI will now have to fundamentally shift to say — let’s show the goods to drive real impact," stated Mohan at the Huddle Kerala startup event. He highlighted three ways in which he thinks that technology start ups can transform — bridging the gender divide, bringing about financial inclusion, and focusing on job creation. Bringing more women online In India, only 30-35% of the connected population is women. The World Economic Forum as estimated that the country can add up to $770 billion to its GDP by 2025, by providing opportunities for women — especially in the technology industry. "It can be a massive lever for opening up opportunities," said Mohan. According to him, one of the biggest barriers to women coming online are safety and privacy concerns. In a lot of places, men even serve as gatekeepers to women accessing the Internet. "I think all of this means that, in terms of the products we design and how we think about the ecosystem, we now have to put the agenda of breaking the gender divide front and center," explained Mohan. Financial inclusion Financial inclusion is a key indicator of development and India has made considerable progress over the past few years — but it still has a long way to go. "It’s very clear that there’s an opportunity to bring the unbanked into the financial services flows in a way that was not cost effective for financial institutions three years ago," said Mohan. According to him, this doesn’t only pertain to consumers in Tier II and Tier III cities but also to the unconnected in urban areas. People who are not yet a part of the financial net are an untapped resource for the Indian economy’s goal to hit $5 trillion. "A big boost would just be making sure the startup ecosystem is able to introduce a whole new segment of consumers," explained Mohan. Honing in on job creation through entrepreneurship Unemployed is a growing problem in India and startups could be one possible solution to ease the pressure. Job creation from small businesses saw a growth of 13.9% over the last four years, according to a CII survey. And within the spectrum of small businesses, startups are ‘critical’, according to Mohan. The industry as a whole and tech giants individually, including Facebook, need to contribute to the concept of entrepreneurship. "Any analysis of any economy, anywhere around the world, including large economies like the US and Europe, the one clear signal is that most of the job creation happens from small businesses," explained Mohan. What is Facebook doing? Mohan said that Facebook is doing its part by showing a willingness to make direct investments in startups. Earlier this year, the company invested in Meesho, which allows women entrepreneurs to pitch products to their friends and family. Facebook is also using Spark Augmented Reality to help developers create new solutions, which Mohan believes has the potential for multiple use cases. "Overall point is, there is now a willingness to invest in tech startups," said Mohan.

Facebook will help accelerate the growth of SMBs in which the VCs have invested. “SMBs are the backbone of our economy and Facebook is the default destination for them to thrive and grow. Their seamless growth can lead to consistent job creation, adding to GDP growth. Working with VC funds is crucial as it allows us to scale and support SMBs at an early-stage itself, fast-tracking their growth,” said Archana Vohra, Director, Small and Medium Businesses at Facebook India. Vohra also said that several SMBs are aiding a larger social change. They are empowering women entrepreneurs, while impacting businesses in tier-2 and tier-3 towns. To help drive this change, Facebook partnered with early stage venture capital fund Mumbai-based Sauce.vc. As a part of the program, Facebook experts will organise skilling and training sessions that will help SMBs expand their businesses via digital medium. Facebook, which helps 90 million small businesses globally, has been investing in the Indian ecosystem. In June, the social media giant invested an undisclosed amount in an Indian social commerce startup Meesho. This was the first time that the global giant had picked up equity in an Indian startup.
