That amount would represent about 23% of Express's 64.97 million common shares outstanding. The "at-the-money" agreement would see sales take place from time to time at or near market prices. Express shares during Thursday's session pared their losses to 20%. On MASCARA-2 b, for instance, the surface temperature can exceed 1,726 degrees Celcius. That’s nearly more than 20 times the temperature of boiling water, which explains why the atmosphere is mostly made up of melted metals. "The detection of vaporized metals in the atmosphere of MASCARA-2 b is one of the first exciting science results to emerge from EXPRES," said Fischer. This is mostly because instead of being the fifth planet from the Sun, MASCARA-2 b is a 100 times closer to its star. How do you find a Hot Jupiter? MASCARA 2-b was discovered using the Extreme PREcision Spectrometer (EXPRES), which was built at Yale and installed on the 4.3-meter Lowell Discovery Telescope in the US state of Arizona. Even though the primary mission of EXPRES is to find Earth-like planets based on the slight gravitational influence they have on their stars, it can also be useful when trying to decipher the atmospheric details of far-away planets. Using this instrument, the lead author of the study — Jens Hoeijmakers — was able to find out that the chemical make up of a ‘morning’ on MASACARA-2 b is different from the ‘evening’. "These chemical detections may not only teach us about the elemental composition of the atmosphere but also about the efficiency of atmospheric circulation patterns," said Hoeijmakers. Court documents say the eBay employees also sent the couple a slew of harassing Twitter messages, and spammed their e-mail inboxes with sign-ups to bogus newsletters, including those with the subject lines: "the Communist Party"; "the Satanic Temple"; and "Cat Faeries."The six former eBay employees, who were on the global intelligence and security teams, have each been charged with conspiracy to commit cyberstalking and conspiracy to tamper with witnesses. Each person could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each charge, authorities said.Neither Wymer nor Wenig are still with eBay. Wymer only served as eBay's PR chief for about nine months in 2019. A third is that most Americans (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="c-link" href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/poll-americans-on-biden-age/story?id=107126589">a remarkable 81% of us</a>) think that Biden is too old to run for president. (Most of us think Trump is too old, too, but fewer of us.)In a diverse country, 81% is a startling and resounding consensus.What’s more, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="c-link" href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/bidens-age-fitness-top-list-voters-concerns-poll-finds-rcna137212">76% of us have either "major" or "moderate" concerns</a> about Biden’s mental and physical fitness for a second term.Now, maybe all of that is just unfairness or perception. Maybe Americans who think those things are just being stupid or falling for oppositional propaganda or are just being worrywarts.But here’s the thing:When it comes to elections, perception is reality.And, for most voters, our current perception is that Trump is the less bad and less old of two weak candidates that most Americans have deep misgivings about.If, despite Biden’s age, Americans agreed he was doing a bang-up job as president or were thumping Trump in the polls, we could dismiss these concerns.But only <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="c-link" href="https://www.reuters.com/graphics/USA-BIDEN/POLL/nmopagnqapa/">37% of us approve</a> of the job Biden is doing.And Biden is now <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="c-link" href="https://www.economist.com/united-states/2024/02/04/trumps-lead-over-biden-may-be-smaller-than-it-looks">trailing ex-Pres. Trump in the swing-state polls and losing to him in the betting markets</a>.True — the election is nine months away.True — a lot might change before then, including the polls.But the way things stand today, it looks to many like Biden’s decision to accept the Democratic nomination might affect the future of America’s democracy — and, with it, the Constitution and country that Biden has sworn to protect.Of course, a key factor in deciding whether to step aside is whether there is anyone else the Democrats could nominate who could be a stronger candidate.Polls suggest, for example, that it would be stupid for Biden to step aside so the Democrats can nominate Vice President Kamala Harris because she <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="c-link" href="https://www.newsweek.com/kamala-harris-matchup-against-donald-trump-1868650">would do even worse</a> against Trump.But most potential Democratic candidates deferred to Biden's desire to enter the primaries and didn't enter the race, so I don't think we really know yet whether there is a stronger candidate. By nominating someone at the convention, moreover, Democrats can choose the candidate they think has the best chance to win the general election, as opposed to the one that appeals most to Democratic voters in the primaries.As New York Times columnist Ross Douthat <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="c-link" href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/10/opinion/joe-biden-convention-2024.html">has explained</a>, it would be better if Biden waited until mid-summer to make (or at least announce) his decision:The next six months would provide time to see whether the polls change meaningfully — a key factor in the analysis. The waiting period would also give the broader Democratic party time to figure out whether anyone else might make a stronger candidate. And it would allow more of Trump's legal trials to play out.If, by early August, the analysis suggests that Biden is, in fact, the strongest candidate, then the best way to serve his country would be to accept the nomination. If, on the other hand, Biden concludes that someone else might have a better chance, he could serve his country better by dropping out.

The four-piece from Toronto, Canada, had already teased the song a few times online with little success, but this time things were different.The video racked up 2.9 million views and over 1,300 comments from viewers who were hooked on the verse and desperate to hear more.The band had been together for over a decade at this point, but had never experienced anything like this. Their song suddenly became a huge hit, amassing hundreds of millions of views on TikTok across various videos, before it soared up the charts on Spotify, and eventually led to a string of stateside, sold-out shows.<h2>The band experimented with a variety of videos hoping one would blow up</h2>In late 2022, The Beaches parted ways with their longtime label Island Records, and spent the first few months of 2023 in the studio creating new music."We wanted the next thing to really kind of be like a breakthrough standout track," Kylie Miller, the lead guitarist and co-founder of the band, and Jordan's sister, told Insider.The group, which is also made up of guitarist and keyboardist Leandra Earl, and Eliza Enman-McDaniel on drums, came up with the concept of a break-up song that addressed how someone might treat their future partners after a split, with a reference to Jordan's ex named Brett, as a personal joke.They knew <a href="https://www.insider.com/tiktoker-the-bun-discovers-aspiring-musicians-sarah-crean-record-label-2023-6">TikTok had the potential to help launch a song</a> and boost ticket sales, and were hoping to have "a little bit of a viral moment," Kylie said, so they started uploading teasers of the track to their account which now has over 113,000 followers.They experimented with different formats to see what would hook people's attention, uploading clips that showed them miming along to the chorus on a rooftop, in a bathroom, and performing it live. "All of our numbers on every song that we've done have gone up," Kylie told Insider. Their mostly male, Canadian audience was filling up with younger women, many of whom wrote comments beneath their videos to say the song was helping them through their own heartbreak. The first clinical trials, called Phase 1 studies, are primarily focused on making sure the vaccine is safe and tolerable in a small sampling of healthy volunteers. These tests can also measure the vaccine's ability to induce an immune response. The biotech upstart Moderna appears to be poised to be first to start trials of its potential vaccine in people. Its candidate, dubbed mRNA-1273, will be tested in 45 healthy adults at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute. Like Moderna, CureVac uses a messenger RNA platform that instructs cells how to make proteins. Altimmune, a tiny biotech based in Gaithersburg, Maryland, has also put out a timeline for a first human trial starting in August to test a vaccine delivered through the nose as a single-dose spray. <h2>Summer 2020: We get our first look at whether the vaccines are safe</h2>Over the summer, by Fauci's timeline, the first human data should become available for Moderna's experimental vaccine. Once that first study gets going, the NIH's Fauci said it should take roughly three months for data to accumulate to see if the vaccine is safe. If it is, Moderna's vaccine could move into the next phase of clinical testing. This typically includes selecting one dose to bring forward, and then testing it in hundreds or even thousands of people instead of a few dozen.More clinical results on safety could begin to trickle in in the second half of 2020. If companies like Inovio, Novavax, and CureVac deliver on their timelines to start Phase 1 testing in the coming months, that should lead to safety data by the fall, depending on how quickly these trials can enroll people.<h2>Fall and Winter 2020: Johnson &amp; Johnson plans to start a vaccine trial </h2>Inovio, for instance, <a href="http://ir.inovio.com/news-and-media/news/press-release-details/2020/Inovio-Accelerates-Timeline-for-COVID-19-DNA-Vaccine-INO-4800/default.aspx">has said</a> it plans to publish and present the initial data on its vaccine in the fall. By the end of 2020, the company has said it can produce 1 million doses of a vaccine candidate for future studies or emergency use.Johnson &amp; Johnson, the largest healthcare company in the world, has also stated it is aiming to bring a vaccine candidate into the clinic in November. Paul Stoffels, J&amp;J's chief scientific officer, said the first versions of a potential vaccine are currently being tested in animals with positive results.Another experimental vaccine from University of Queensland researchers is also <a href="https://www.uq.edu.au/news/article/2020/02/significant-step%E2%80%99-covid-19-vaccine-quest">on track to start human testing</a> in the second half of 2020, according to a February 21 release. <h2>2021 and beyond</h2>At the most optimistic end of Fauci's timeline, a vaccine candidate could have data showing it's safe and effective at stopping the coronavirus in the first few months of 2021. In Moderna's case, that means a potential data readout of its second human trial. Looking this far into the future, though, the unknowns mount quickly.Typically, the US Food and Drug Administration requires an additional study to confirm a vaccine works, often in tens of thousands of people. It's unclear if there could be enough clinical evidence and urgency to deploy a vaccine as quickly as possible to forego such a test. That could be weighed against the need to ensure a vaccine works if it will be given to millions of healthy people.J&amp;J's Stoffels said the drugmaking giant plans to have early safety data on a vaccine in early 2021.Other companies have also released timelines to start clinical testing in early 2021, including the French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi.
