Now, Twitter has updated the page with more details - including a section of terms and conditions - explaining how it works.</p><p>"The Twitter Timeline Program is the first ad program that allows publishers to offer real-time content to their audiences and drive incremental revenue with targeted ads," reads the frequently asked questions page on Twitter's website about Twitter Timeline Ads.</p><p>Twitter declined to comment on the record for this story and did not name publishers who have signed up for the program. A spokeswoman stressed that the program is a small test.</p><h2>Twitter is experimenting <span style="background-color: #ffffff;">with making money outside of Twitter</span></h2><p>Publishers who embed streams of tweets on their sites - think blogs or local news sites - can join the program and allow Twitter to serve ads straight into the Timelines. Twitter will split the ad revenue made from the program equally with publishers, meaning that media companies will make 50% of revenue from ads served to their sites, according to information on <a href="https://business.twitter.com/en/a/twitter-timeline-faq.html">the page.</a> After Business Insider reached out to Twitter, the information about the breakdown in ad revenue was removed from the page.</p><p>To date, Twitter has made most of its ad revenue from ads served within its flagship website and app. Twitter already has a number of revenue-share programs with publishers who sell ads that run before videos that they post to the site. <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2016/08/30/twitter-will-now-share-video-revenue-with-individual-content-creators.html">Twitter keeps 30% of ad revenue</a> from that program while publishers keep 70%.</p><p>To compare, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/publishers-say-facebooks-rollout-of-watch-ads-is-methodical-but-picking-up-speed-2018-8">Facebook Watch</a> allows publishers to keep 55% of revenue while Facebook keeps 45% of ads sold within videos. YouTube has<a href="http://fortune.com/2017/04/06/youtube-partner-rule-change-10000/"> similar revenue-share</a> policies for its creators.</p><h2>Twitter is encouraging publishers to remove bad ads before it begins serving its ads to them</h2><p>Twitter plans to place ads in the top 20 tweets in a Timeline, according to its info page. Specifically, ads will be slotted between the first and second tweet, the seventh and eighth tweet, the 13th and 14th tweet and between the 19th and 20th tweets.</p><p>Once a publisher is accepted to the program and begins running ads, Twitter will give media companies a real-time dashboard where they can track stats and revenue earned from the program. Per Twitter, ads must be a minimum of 700 pixels high and 300 pixels wide to qualify for the program.</p><p>The company also recommends that publishers plug <a href="https://iabtechlab.com/ads-txt/">ads.txt code</a> - the initiative backed by the IAB Tech Lab that prevents unauthorized tech vendors from selling ads on publishers' sites - into their sites before joining the Twitter Timeline Ads program. Ad-tech company OpenX is mentioned on the site as an "authorized partner" but Twitter declined to provide more information about how the company is involved in the program. OpenX deferred to Twitter for comment.</p><h2>The move may be welcomed by publishers looking for new partners that aren't Facebook or Google</h2><p>Facebook and Google have been jerking publishers around for years and some publishers<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/they-seem-to-actually-care-if-we-make-money-media-companies-are-falling-back-in-love-with-twitter-2018-2"> have begun to view</a> Twitter as a new friend - so Twitter might have a way to win over publishers who feel burned by the duopoly. Plus, publishers are constantly looking for ways to squeeze more revenue out of their websites that are dominated by display ads.</p><p>As of February, Twitter said that it had streamed more than 1,100 live events and added 22 new live-streaming shows. New York Yankees ace CC Sabathia came two innings short of a $500,000 bonus when he intentionally hit a batter and got ejected from his final game of this past season. Most home studios have humble beginnings, in a basement or in a kitchen. But if a streamer becomes successful, they soon need a set-up capable of an increasingly high level of production to serve a growing audience.</p><p>The world's most popular gamer, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/category/ninja">Tyler "Ninja" Blevins</a>, has nearly 20 million subscribers on YouTube and became the first Twitch streamer to reach 10 million followers earlier this year. Ninja spends about 12 hours a day playing live on <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/category/twitch">Twitch</a> from his basement studio and has brought home as much as $500,000 a month through subscription fees and donations. His meteoric rise to the top of the video game world with<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/category/fortnite"> "Fortnite: Battle Royale"</a> has earned him a number of valuable opportunities, including commercials with Samsung, an ESPN the Magazine cover story, and an ongoing sponsorship from Red Bull.</p><p>Red Bull recently partnered with Portland-based creative agency Roundhouse to help Ninja redesign his home streaming setup, his primary base of operations. Roundhouse Creative Director <span style="font-weight: 400;">Robert Medkeff flew to meet Ninja in Chicago where they discussed how to upgrade the studio and maintain his personal flair. The agency has worked on major gaming-related projects with Red Bull and Twitch in the past, but designing a state-of-the-art studio brought forth a new set of challenges. Roundhouse presented Ninja with a number of potential plans for the studio; once the gamer chose his favorite, they began fleshing the design out with the best possible technology and lighting options.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5be9edfee4218a47ff5e8598-1920/ninja%20tyler%20blevins%20in%20studio%202.png" border="0" alt="Ninja Tyler Blevins in Studio 2" data-mce-source="Red Bull"><p class="source"><span>Red Bull</span></p><p class="caption">The studio fills the entire basement room.</p></img></div><p></p></div></div></span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"His new studio needed to inspire creativity and support multiple types of content, and stand out as the first gaming studio of its kind," Medkeff told Business Insider in an interview.&#xa0;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While most of Ninja's streams consist of him playing at his desk, the new studio encompasses the full basement room. The space was given a custom acoustic treatment and has been fully outfitted with controllable, color changing LED lighting.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#xa0;Once wall includes eight different monitors for Ninja to host graphics or playback video from his dedicated video server. Another portion of the room has a dedicated analyst desk in place for when Ninja hosts friends or steps away from the action for a bit. The goal of the studio is to be a one-stop shop for any type of gaming broadcast and everything in the room can be controlled from a digital switch board on Ninja's desk. Despite the big time studio upgrades, Ninja will still be using the same <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ninja-fortnite-gaming-pc-specs-parts-2018-7" target="_blank" rel="noopener">custom built NZXT computer</a> and the free Open Broadcaster Software to stream.&#xa0;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"></span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Roundhouse also worked to ensure that Ninja's personality was preserved within the studio. Medkeff said the partnership between Ninja and Red Bull was balanced and stress-free. The room was designed with Ninja's personal branding in mind but the space isn't dominated by sponsor logos.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Dozens of his personal trinkets line the room, including trophies, Funko POP figures, a "Fortnite" pickaxe, and a signed Detroit Lions football helmet. Medkeff said the look of the trophy wall will evolve as Ninja adds more personal effects. "Don't call it a comeback," reads the Mac App Store description for the update.&#xa0;</p><p>The Verge reports that the Twitter for Mac app isn't a priority for Twitter, so&#xa0;the company did not dedicate any in-house resources to it, and instead used&#xa0;a third-party developer to make the new app.&#xa0;</p><p>Outsourcing app development is not an especially unusual&#xa0;practice. Twitter didn't make its new Mac app

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/58e7d2c477bb701a008b72bd-1624/undefined" alt="Youtube TV 5" data-mce-source="Hollis Johnson"><p class="source"><span>Hollis Johnson</span></p><p class="caption">The YouTube TV app.</p></img></div><p></p></div></div>Let me be clear up front, since I'm about to say a lot of not-so-positive things about YouTube TV, Google's new streaming TV service that launched in a handful of cities this week.</p><p>It's an impressive product from a technical perspective, and easily the best of the growing number of products in the category from DirecTV, Sling TV, and Sony. The app is well-designed and easy to use. The streams are stable, something the competition has struggled with. And the unlimited DVR function is like having your own personal Netflix.</p><p>Cool stuff.</p><p>But there are far too many caveats and concessions with YouTube TV to make it a viable option for cord cutters today, and many of its restrictions are the ones that have plagued all the other streaming TV services. It's a niche product, and it's not going to grow into its own ambitions without some major improvements.</p><p>Here's the rundown.</p><h2>Regional availability</h2><p>Right now, YouTube TV is only available in a handful of cities: New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago. It'll expand from here, but don't hold your breath if you're expecting it to launch outside the US. Since YouTube TV is dedicated to offering local channels, that means it'll have to negotiate streaming rights city by city in many cases. There's also a chance it won't be able to get all of them on board.</p><h2>Channel selection and pricing</h2><p>There are a little more than 40 channels available. While it's great to have all four major networks and (soon) AMC, YouTube TV is still missing a lot of channels like Discovery, CNN, TBS, TNT, and HBO. It'll likely take a lot more negotiating to get that content, and even then, it'll be tough for YouTube to keep the price at $35 per month if it does.</p><p>Meanwhile, DirecTV and Sling TV offer packages with over 100 channels. And while $35 isn't a bad price for 40 or so channels, competitors offer a lot more for your money. DirecTV now gives you over 60 channels for $35 per month, for example.</p><h2>Device support</h2><p>The great promise of streaming TV services is that they're ideally supposed to let you watch TV wherever you are, no matter what device you have.</p><p>That's not the case with YouTube TV, which only works on iPhone and Android for now. Want to watch on your television? You'll need to beam the video from your phone to a Chromecast. We're still waiting for apps that let you stream on smart TVs, Roku, Apple TV, video game consoles, and so on.</p><h2>Sports restrictions</h2><p>Even with ESPN on YouTube TV, watching live sports can still be a pain, thanks to blackout restrictions and other agreements sports leagues have with service providers. For example, you can't watch NFL games on YouTube TV because Verizon has exclusive mobile streaming rights for now.</p><p>Local sports is a problem too. I couldn't watch Mets games on YouTube TV this week because they air on SNY, a local sports network in New York City. It's not on YouTube TV.</p><h2>Google appears to be conflating two very different trends with YouTube TV</h2><p>1.) Millennials and young people don't like watching traditional, linear TV. They want what they want on demand.</p><p>2.) They want to watch content on their phones.</p><p>While both are true, it doesn't make sense to mash the two trends together and provide linear content only on mobile devices with limited ways to watch on a big-screen TV. The cord-cutting trend is growing precisely because a new generation is growing up on the internet and sucking down content on demand without being slave to a programming schedule. Live TV only makes sense with limited programming like sports, and none of the streaming services do sports well.</p><h2>The future of TV is still a long way away</h2><p>Just about every major tech company and TV service has promised a radical transformation in the way we watch TV, but none of them have delivered. YouTube TV is proof that you can get the underlying tech right, but there are far too many hurdles getting the content people want on the devices they want. The cord-cutter's dream is still a long way away

The invites, issued on August 27th, show a giant Apple logo with the caption "Hey Siri, give us a hint." Asking Siri <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/what-happens-when-you-ask-siri-about-apples-next-iphone-event-2015-8">about the event</a>, however, only yields cryptic results, and so we will have to wait until early September to see what Apple has in store for the next versions of the iPhone, the company's most popular product. </p><p>Luckily for those who can't wait, the leaks have been coming thick and fast <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/apple-iphone-6s-rumors-2015-7">over recent months</a> but there is, as always, an element of mystery surrounding Apple's latest iPhone, most likely dubbed the 6s. The iPhone 6 brought vast improvements to the iPhone family including a larger screen, better camera and new design. While these updates are appreciated, we are still far away from the Perfect Phone and, if Apple does it right, the 6s may bring us one step closer. </p><p>Here's everything Apple should include in the iPhone 6s. </p><h2>Battery </h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/55e0831edd08955b708b4679-1268-951/screen shot 2015-04-01 at 12.40.33 pm.png" alt="super charge iphone battery" data-mce-source="Will Wei/Business Insider" /><p class="source"><span>Will Wei/Business Insider</span></p><p class="caption">The iPhone's battery is notoriously bad.</p></div><p></p></div></div>It's common knowledge amongst iPhone users that the <a href="http://www.gsmarena.com/battery-test.php3">battery life is poor</a> - and none more so than the iPhone 6. Last year, the 6 Plus, the larger model, received an enormous 2,915mAh battery which can last for almost two days of use. The 6, alas, received no such upgrade and was stuck with a 1,810mAh battery which, according <a href="http://www.trustedreviews.com/iphone-6-review-battery-life-and-verdict-page-6">to tests</a>, is far inferior to its competitors. </p><p>Battery technology is the poor cousin to many of the "sexier" innovations that happen to smartphones - waterproofing, TouchID, millions-of-pixel displays - which is a shame because a decent battery is essential to the usefulness of a smartphone. </p><p>Hopefully Apple will realise this with the 6s and add some of the innovations that the 6 Plus received that help it achieve such stellar battery life.</p><h2>Siri </h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/55e0831edd08955b708b467a-1440-1080/name ss.jpg" alt="Siri name change" data-mce-source="Business Insider / Matt Johnston" /><p class="source"><span>Business Insider / Matt Johnston</span></p><p class="caption">Siri on an iPhone.</p></div><p></p></div></div>The event includes the tagline "Hey Siri, give us a hint" which could indicate a focus on Siri but could, equally, be misdirection from Apple. </p><p>Launched in 2011, Siri has been incrementally improved over the past few years. predominantly by adding more and more data sources. Whereas at launch Siri could only send texts and open apps, now it can tell you sports scores, weather and has become more useful as a whole thanks to partnerships with Yahoo, ESPN and more. </p><p>iOS 9, the next generation of Apple's mobile software, has focused on Siri as one of the core components of the operating systems, allowing it to index applications and perform core tasks that <a href="http://www.techinsider.io/apple-ios-9-features-beta-siri-2015-7">reduce the amount of tapping</a> a user has to do. Asking Siri to "Show me photos from June 9th" no longer kicks the user into the Photos app, for example, as Siri can handle that itself. </p><p>While it's unlikely we are going to see "Her"-like intelligence, Siri is getting smarter and smarter and the September 9th event, paired with the new tech in the 6s, could be a good time for it to shine. </p><h2>Sturdiness </h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/55e0831fdd08955b708b467b-2093-1570/screen shot 2015-08-10 at 11.52.21 am.jpg" alt="Bent iPhonw" data-mce-source="YouTube" /><p class="source"><span>YouTube</span></p><p class="caption">A broken iPhone 6 Plus.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Everyone knows someone with a smashed or battered iPhone, and it's high time Apple did something about it. Of course, there is very little Apple can do to prevent catastrophic damage when the phone is dropped from 6 feet beyond <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vibranium">building it out of Vibranium</a> but there are ways to sure it up, like using stronger materials, which is the avenue Apple has chosen.  </p><p>Reports <a href="http://www.macrumors.com/2015/06/17/iphone-6s-7000-series-aluminum-kgi/">have suggested</a> that Apple is opting for 7000 series aluminum for the body of the iPhone 6s, a material that is "60% stronger than most aluminum and one-third the density of stainless steel."</p><h2>Force Touch</h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left float_right"><div><div class="image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/55e0831fdd08955b708b467c-4200-3150/apple-watch-force-touch.jpg" alt="Apple Watch Force Touch" data-mce-source="Apple" /><p class="source"><span>Apple</span></p><p class="caption">The Apple Watch has Force Touch.</p></div><p></p></div></div>One of the coolest additions to recent Apple devices - first the Apple Watch and then the new MacBook - is Force Touch, a technology that allows a flat surface (i.e. a screen) the ability to feel multiple levels of touch pressure. On the Apple Watch, the most comparable use-case to an iPhone, different levels of force - currently a "tap" and a "hard press" - can mean different things, accessing different features within an app.  </p><p>The applications of Force Touch on an iPhone are currently unknown and the addition of the technology could create a Renaissance in app development as new and exciting ways to input things are discovered, just as TouchID has done to an extent. Also, it's a neat trick that no other manufacture has. </p><h2>Storage</h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/55e0831fdd08955b708b467d-2487-1865/iphone-6-back-view-e1412120585700.jpg" alt="iPhone 6 back view" data-mce-source="BetaNews.com" /><p class="source"><span>BetaNews.com</span></p><p class="caption">The iPhone 6 starts at 16GB and goes all the way up to 128GB.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Using an iPhone with 16GB of storage is, in 2015, virtually impossible - and yet Apple sells a phone with exactly that much storage. </p><p>The current iPhone storage options run from 16GB to 64GB to 128GB with no 32GB option available on the 6 or 6 Plus. With the 6s, Apple should fix this issue and start iPhone storage options at 32GB giving users with less cash (at present the difference in price between the 16- and 64GB iPhones sits at a <a href="http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-iphone/iphone6">not inconsiderable £80</a>) the ability to have a pleasant experience devoid of deleting apps to <a href="http://www.theverge.com/2014/9/17/6342157/ios-8-free-space-iphone-ipad-requirement">install software updates</a>.  </p><p>Virtually all other manufactures, from Samsung to HTC, either start sizing options at 32GB or offer a MicroSD card slot that can expand storage. </p><h2>Wireless Charging</h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left float_right"><div><div class="image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/55e0831fdd08955b708b467e-502-376/lg-nexus-4-wireless-charging-orb-02.jpg" alt="LG Nexus 4 Wireless Charging Orb 02" data-mce-source="Google" /><p class="source"><span>Google</span></p><p class="caption">Google's Nexus 4 was one of the first phones to include wireless charging.</p></div><p></p></div></div>One of the more "moonshot" features it would be nice to see in the iPhone 6s would be wireless charging. Other handsets, such as <a href="https://store.google.com/product/nexus_wireless_charger?playredirect=true">Google's Nexus devices</a>, have had wireless charging as an option for a few years and Apple, a company that prides itself on simplicity, could do well to include a charging function that doesn't require a cable. </p><p>Of course, wireless charging is complex - making electricity jump through the air safely is, without a doubt, something that needs to work 100% of the time - and current examples require the device to be placed in a specific spot which negates the ease of use that should come from not needing a cable. Apple will likely want to work on a way to make wireless charging work in a general area not when placed on a pad. </p><p>Nevertheless, this would be a cool feature to have and, if Apple gets behind it, wireless charging may become more widespread. </p><h2>Camera </h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left"><div><div class="image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/55e0831fdd08955b708b467f-1333-1000/iphone-6-plus-studio-back-camera2-1500x1000.jpg" alt="iPhone 6 camera" data-mce-source="DigitalTrends" /><p class="source"><span>DigitalTrends</span></p><p class="caption">The iPhone 6 has an 8 megapixel camera.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Every year the iPhone camera gets that much better, and 2015 looks to be the same. Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac <a href="http://9to5mac.com/2015/08/27/iphone-6s-camera-12-megapixels-4k-selfies/">reports that</a> the main camera is going to receive a large upgrade with a new 12 megapixel sensor and lens technology while the front camera could, if the report turns out to be true, gain a flash - permanently changing the way humans take selfies forever.</p><p>Thanks to an updated A9 chipset, likely to make the iPhone 6s work far faster, the camera will now also be able to capture 4K video, a leap forward for amateur video recorders everywhere. Over the years the iPhone has brough a decent camera to millions of people and the iPhone 6s looks set to continue this trend. </p><h2>Performance</h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/55e0831fdd08955b708b4680-1440-1080/apple-a8-mockup-001.jpg" alt="Apple A8 mockup 001" data-mce-source="Apple" /><p class="source"><span>Apple</span></p><p class="caption">The current set of iPhones have an A8 CPU.</p></div><p></p></div></div>As mentioned above, the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will likely receive an updated A9 processor, a generation on from the A8 that the current models have. It's bigger and arguably more beautiful than the iPhone 5. </p>

<p class="p2"><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">HTC may be losing when it comes to brand recognition –– all you hear about are Apple and Samsung these days –– but it continues to make some of the best <keyword id="6354485" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="mobile">mobile</keyword> devices you can buy. It feels like no one cares about poor HTC, but the One perfectly exemplifies why they should.</span></p>

<h2 class="p2"><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Hardware And Design</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Let me gush about the design a bit more. </span></p>
<p class="p2">It's easy enough for Android phones to distinguish themselves from the iPhone with a bunch of software extras and customization options, but this is the first time I've held an Android phone that I thought was just as solid and beautiful as anything Apple makes without being a blatant copy.</p>
<p class="p1">The HTC One has a 4.7-inch HD display, meaning you can watch full HD video content. (There are only a handful of devices that can do that, and the iPhone isn't one of them.) The screen's resolution is also incredibly sharp, so text and images look like they're printed on the display. There's no pixelation at all.</p>
<p class="p2">But the phone's aluminum body is the best part. The One's frame tapers to about 4 mm at its thinnest edge, and it has a pleasantly-curved back that makes the phone easy to hold. It's also deceptively light (143 grams), yet plenty durable. The phone has some plastic trimming, but it's a durable polycarbonate plastic that looks great and feels right at home enveloped in all that metal. </p>

<p class="p2">The screen is bordered by two stereo speakers that sound incredible; they're louder and clearer than any other phone speakers I've used. (Most phones only have one speaker.) It's especially useful when watching videos or listening to music, although most people will probably end up using headphones for that kind of stuff. Like many HTC phones, the One also has Beats Audio integration, a feature you can turn on in the phone's settings that's supposed to improve audio quality. But all it really does is make the audio louder; it doesn't improve sound quality at all.</p>
<p class="p2">The One has a special camera that HTC calls an "Ultrapixel" camera. Unlike most smartphone cameras, the One's Ultrapixel camera creates larger-than-normal pixels when taking an image, theoretically giving you a sharper picture and better low-light performance. It works. The photos I took with the HTC One were much clearer than the ones taken in the same environment with my iPhone 5, especially if there wasn't a lot of lighting. </p>
<p class="p2">Battery life is on par with most smartphones. You'll likely be able to get through a day of normal use. But it does get really hot when playing games or watching videos. You won't roast your hand, but it's definitely noticeable.<br /> </p>

<p class="p2"><span>As for the network, I used the Sprint version of the HTC One. Compared to AT&amp;T and Verizon, Sprint has a tiny 4G LTE network, which is the fastest kind of data connection available. But Sprint LTE is completely absent in New York City where I did my testing. Sprint has another type of 4G that's a little slower, but my test unit couldn't connect to that. I spent most of the time stuck on 3G, which was a huge pain. It's also especially embarrassing for a top-tier device like the HTC One. (To be fair, this is Sprint's fault, not HTC's. I've heard the One works fine on T-Mobile and AT&amp;T.)</span></p>
<p class="p2"><span style="font-size: 1.5em; color: #000000;">Software And Other Features</span></p>
<p class="p2">At its core, the HTC One is still a basic Android phone. But like most manufacturers, HTC tweaked the operating system and added its own "skin" called Sense that has a slightly different design, plus other features not found in Google's basic version of Android.</p>
<p class="p2">The most apparent change in Sense is what HTC calls Blinkfeed, a new default home screen that pulls in photos and stories from your Facebook and Twitter connections and a variety of news sources like ESPN, AP, Reuters, and Business Insider. <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Blinkfeed looks a lot like the </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/new-flipboard-app-walkthrough-2013-3">popular news app Flipboard</a><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">, and it shows you separate tiles for each story. It's a nice feature to have built into your phone.</span></p>
<p class="p2">But as cool as Blinkfeed is, I didn't like that HTC makes it your default home screen. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/how-people-really-use-their-smartphones-2013-4">Like most people</a>, I use my phone for a lot more than just grazing through content shared on Facebook and Twitter and prefer to jump straight into my favorite apps instead. HTC makes you swipe over to your regular home screen to get all that. (Yes, you can store a few apps in the One's "dock" that will show up even while looking at Blinkfeed, but it's still limiting.)</p>
<p class="p2"><span>I have a feeling most people will end up doing what I did and make the regular home screen their default.</span></p>

<p class="p2">HTC also added some special tricks to the camera software. It has built-in filters sort of like the ones you'll find on Instagram. It also has a new feature called Zoe that takes a short video clip and lets you select one frame to share on Facebook, email, and pretty much any other service. Zoe is like a mix of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-vine-2013-1">Twitter's video-sharing app Vine</a> with a little Instagram thrown in. </p>
<p class="p2">The One can also serve as a universal remote for your TV thanks to an infrared blaster at the top of the device. The phone comes with a television app that pulls in data from your cable or satellite provider and lets you know what shows are on. You just have to tap a show and the channel will change. HTC uses a service called Peel to help recommend shows that you may want to watch. The setup only takes a minute and worked well, but I didn't find much practical use for it. I still prefer to use my phone for other stuff like checking Twitter while watching TV. </p>

<p class="p2">Despite all those extras, the HTC One is still your typical Android phone. It runs a version of Android called Jelly Bean, which gives you access to Google Now, a voice-powered assistant that's <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/google-now-better-than-siri-2012-7">better than Siri on the iPhone</a>. Google Now makes a much better search tool than Siri, and it can intelligently remind you of stuff you care about like when to leave the office for your next meeting or when your favorite sports team is playing.</p>
<p class="p2">You also get access to the Google Play store where Google sells its digital apps, movies, music, books, and periodicals. Google Play's selection is about as good as the selection in Apple's App Store for iPhones and iPads, but just know developers tend to make the newest apps and big updates for the iPhone first.</p>
<h2 class="p2">Should You Buy It?</h2>
<p class="p2">If you're ready to buy a new phone soon, you have a tough decision ahead of you. Samsung is about to launch the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-announced-features-and-specs-2013-3">anticipated Galaxy S4</a>, and a new iPhone is reportedly coming late this summer.</p>
<p class="p2">The HTC One is easily the most beautiful Android phone ever created, and has all the other bells and whistles you'll need. You should buy it.</p>
