The bank, however, said that the pandemic situation had a minimal impact on its books in FY 2019-20 as the nationwide lockdown was imposed in the last few days of March, by which time most of bank's collections had already come. The 2019-20 annual report said the lockdown "did impact the typically high year-end growth momentum of March, and our volumes stood lower than that envisaged earlier and significantly lower than that in the previous month, which affected the interest and fee income". The surplus liquidity carried as a buffer for the crisis period has led to a slight increase in finance cost for the last week of March, it said. "Although we shall continue to accrue interest income on the outstanding portfolio including those accounts that opt for moratorium, there will be an overall contraction in interest income and fee income on account of lower business volumes due to lockdown and adherence to social distancing norms," the bank said in it outlook for 2020-21. However, the bank said it expects a steady reduction in cost of funds due to the several stimulus measures of the RBI to enhance liquidity in the banking system. The lender added that the impact on credit cost remains to be seen at the end of the moratorium and the end of dispensation on NPA (non-performing assets) classification at the end of August 2020. Citing customer surveys, Ujjivan SFB said there have been temporary dip in household income levels in the wake of COVID-19 crisis and addressing the credit needs of this segment would help customers resurrect their businesses and livelihoods. "Given the ongoing crisis situation, we visualise it to be a good time to sensitise our customers and their families on basic savings and banking behaviour and promote goal based deposits, as our deposit rates remain attractive," it said. The bank said as digital payments have increased due to the pandemic, Ujjivan considers it as a good opportunity to expand initiatives and increase adoption to digital channels. "Our continued efforts on contactless and digital banking services will stand us in a good stead to further our outreach and build on this opportunity. Moreover, the volatility in the market yields is expected to help in the growth of institutional deposits," it said. Going forward, bank's strategy would be to manage the effects of lockdown and it will set in motion initiatives such as curtailing credit cost, re-starting business with repeat clients, scaling deposits and Sampoorna banking business. Bank's Sampoorna Family Banking solution was launched to address every household's comprehensive banking requirements, ranging from the youngest member to the senior citizens. The bank said it will also penetrate into new geographies and further push the growth of rural banking. "We will also introduce consumer durable loan, micro loan against property and use an analytics-based model to graduate group loan customers. Additionally, we will simplify our digital pre-approved loan process with the help of data analytics and expand our UPI QR based payment solutions for merchants via UPI acquirer platform and our UPI PSP Mobile app," Ujjivan SFB said in the report. Besides, the lender said that it will step up its cashless repayment further through its Money Mitra initiative and will offer banking services from neighbourhood shops and pilot cash collection points. "We are also planning to launch a voice-, video- and vernacular-based, easily navigable mobile banking app for microfinance customers to drive digital usage," it said. Moving ahead, the bank will expand the product base with new channels of loan EMI payment via popular and easy-to-use platforms -- Popular UPI apps, BBPS, CCAvenue and Billdesk and use of BC and digital pre-approved individual loans via phone banking and mobile app, it said. Also, the bank will concentrate on semi-formal and formal MSME segments, led by its diversified product offering and relationship based approach. Further, the bank said it plans to launch fintech partnerships in supply chain finance domain to provide an additional lead channel and will also introduce digital onboarding platform for improved delivery processes. During 2019-20, Ujjivan SFB registered a 28 per cent growth in its gross advances at Rs 14,153 crore as on March 30, 2020. Deposits of the bank were up by 46 per cent at Rs 10,780 crore while the retail deposits rose 73 per cent to Rs 4,724 crore. Bank's total income in FY20 jumped by 49 per cent to Rs 3,026 crore, earning net profit of Rs 350 crore, which was higher by 76 per cent from a year ago. Ujjivan SFB, which began its operations in Februray 2017, got listed into the capital market in December 2019, which was termed as one of the most subscribed IPOs in 2019. The bank with its branches spanning across 24 states and union territories had a customer base of 54.4 lakh as on March 31, 2020.

Ujjivan Small Finance Bank sees shrinking interest and fee incomes due to loan moratorium this year

New Delhi, Dec 16 () Equitas Small Finance Bank (Equitas SFB) on Monday said it has filed draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the regulator SEBI for Rs 1,000 crore initial public offer.
 The Initial Public Offering (IPO) comprises a fresh issue aggregating up to Rs 550 crore and an offer for sale of up to 80,000,000 equity shares by Equitas Holdings Limited (EHL), the promoter, Equitas Small Finance Bank said in a statement quoting DRHP.
 The offer includes a reservation of up to Rs 100 crore for subscription by eligible EHL shareholders and a reservation aggregating up to Rs 5 crore for subscription by eligible employees, it said. 
 "In terms of the RBI In-Principle Approval, RBI Final Approval and SFB Licensing Guidelines, the Bank is required to list its equity shares on the Stock Exchanges within three years from the date of commencement of business by the bank," it said.
 The bank proposes to utilise the net proceeds from the offer towards augmenting Tier I capital base and to meet future capital requirements.
The equity shares will be listed on BSE and NSE.
In September after the small bank failed to be listed within the stipulated timeframe as per the licence agreement, the banking regulator, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), refused to extend the listing deadline for Equitas SFB and barred it from opening new branches till further orders. 
 The regulator also froze the pay of CEO Vasudevan PN. RBI rules mandate that a small finance bank should list within three years of reaching Rs 500-crore net worth.
Although the RBI directive does not have a major implication on the business, the bank will be forced to list by March 2020.
Equitas SFB have been able to diversify their loan portfolio and significantly reduce dependence on microfinance business as compared to other microfinance companies that have converted to SFBs, it said.

SSFB serves customers in the unbanked and underbanked categories. It has been serving these segments for over a decade now. “Suryoday Small Finance Bank is among the leading SFBs in India in terms of net interest margins, return on assets, yields and deposit growth and had the lowest cost-to-income ratio among SFBs in India in fiscal 2020,” a report by Axis Capital said. Suryoday Small Finance Bank IPO worth ₹581 crore opens today – should you subscribe?

Qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) showed outsized interest in the issue, as their quote was subscribed a whopping 173 times. It also received good interest from institutional investors (NIIs) as this portion was subscribed 84 times. Retail quota was also subscribed by around 17 times the shares on offer. The IPO has fixed a price band of ₹57-₹60 per equity share. It has raised ₹135.15 crore from anchor investors, like BNP Paribas Arbitrage, <keyword id="13798241" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kotak-mahindra-life-insurance" source="Orion">Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance</keyword>, Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and more. The company has appointed JM Financial, Edelweiss Financial Services, and IIFL Securities as its book running lead managers to the issue. RailTel’s ₹700 crore initial public offering The state-owned RailTel Corporation has filed a Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for an initial public offer of up to 8.66 crore equity shares. The company is likely to raise ₹700 crore through the IPO, a complete offer for sale by the Central government. It has appointed ICICI Securities, IDBI Capital, SBI Capital Markets as the book running lead managers to the issue. ESAF Small Finance Bank The Kerala-based ESAF Small Finance Bank had filed DRHP in January and subsequently got the approval from SEBI at the end of March. However, the bank delayed its initial public offering due to the volatile market conditions and said it would take a call on ₹976-crore initial public offering (IPO) after September. The ₹976-crore IPO of ESAF Small Finance Bank will comprise a fresh issue worth ₹800 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) aggregating up to ₹176.2 crore. Kalyan Jewellers Kerala based Jewellery maker, Kalyan Jewellers, is also expected to launch a ₹1,750 crore initial public offering (IPO) in <a href="http://www.marketsguruji.com/upcoming-ipos-in-india/">November</a>. The ₹1,750 crore IPO will be the largest in its sector. The issue will consist of a fresh fundraise of ₹1,000 crore and offer of sale by promoter TS Kalyanaraman and private equity firm Warburg Pincus of ₹750 crore. Burger King One of India'sIndia's fastest-growing food chains, Burger King, is also in line to raise as much as ₹1,000 crore by initial public offering. The firm aims to utilise the funds to double the number of restaurants by 2025, where it currently operates 216 in India, as per its DRHP. Burger King IPO is also likely to hit the market in November this year. Bajaj Energy The ₹5,450 crore IPO of Uttar Pradesh-based, one of the largest private-sector thermal generation companies, Bajaj Energy, is expected to hit the market by the end of this year. The IPO comprises fresh issuance of shares aggregating up to ₹5,150 crore and an offer for sale of scrips up to ₹300 crore by the promoter Bajaj Power Ventures, according to its DRHP. The Index team including founders <keyword id="333085" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anand-Krishna">Anand Krishna</keyword> and Kumar Siddhartha will join Niyo. Niyo said it plans to integrate Index's personal finance tracking features into its products especially NiyoX, that will give users access to 360 degree view of their earnings, savings, investments, insurances in a single view. Customers will also get the nudges to plan their expenses, pay bills and save. "The aggregation and analytical capabilities of Index will help expand NiyoX's functionality to equip users with the valuable insights they need to meet their financial goals," said Vinay Bagri, Co-Founder and CEO of Niyo. This is Niyo's second acquisition after acquiring Goalwise around mid-2020. Niyo recently launched its 2-in-1 savings and wealth account NiyoX in partnership with Equitas Small Finance Bank.
