New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare postponed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (<keyword id="6361994" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="NEET" source="Orion">NEET</keyword> PG) Examination on Saturday, which was scheduled to be held on Sunday, and said that a fresh date will be announced at the earliest. The NEET-PG exams were scheduled to be held on June 23. "Taking into consideration, the recent incidents of allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations, the Ministry of Health has decided to undertake a thorough assessment of the robustness of the processes of the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, conducted by the National Board of Examination for medical students," the ministry statement read. "It has accordingly been decided, as a precautionary measure, to postpone the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, scheduled to be held on 23rd June, 2024. The fresh date of this examination will be notified at the earliest," the ministry added. "The Ministry of Health sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to the students. This decision has been taken in the best interests of the students and to maintain the sanctity of the examination process," the health ministry said. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) was fully prepared to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Post-Graduate (PG) 2024. Speaking exclusively to ANI, Dr Rakesh Sharma, OSD to President and Member, Governing Body, NBEMS said, "All eyes of the nation are on NBEMS for the conduct of NEET PG 2024 and we will not let down the hope of the nation. We will conduct the test through a computer-based test (CBT) mode throughout the country." On Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for successfully delivering and maintaining transparency, he said, "NBEMS has robust SOPs for conducting exams because of which NBEMS has been successfully delivering the exams year after year. These SOPs are stringently followed. NBEMS has worked very hard on maintaining the secrecy of the question paper and there is no chance that there will be any leakage of the question paper." He further said that NBEMS is supported by medical colleges, faculty, MoHFW, Flying Squads, Deans and Principals, Vice-chancellor and other agencies, "NBEMS has support from various medical colleges, faculty, MoHFW and other agencies. NBEMS has already briefed the chief secretaries and DGP of all states for safe and secure conduct of the exam." This resulted in several protests across the country, with protestors and political parties demanding to disband the NTA. An unprecedented 67 candidates achieved a perfect score of 720 marks out of 720, which added to the concerns. The <keyword id="19932587" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ministry-of-education" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="ministry of education" meta.hostid="83" meta.entityid="ministry of education">Ministry of Education</keyword> said it has constituted a high-level committee of experts to make recommendations on reforms in the mechanism of the examination process, improvements in data security protocols and the functioning of the NTA. The 7-member committee, led by ISRO former chairman Dr K. Radhakrishnan, will submit its report to the ministry in the next two months. "In order to ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct of examinations through the National Testing Agency (NTA), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education constituted a High-Level Committee of Experts to make recommendations on Reform in mechanism of examination process improvement in data security protocols and the structure and functioning of National Testing Agency," the ministry said.

"It's indisputable. "Then adding in what I consider to be a goal distribution, something that is not paramount to living, but something that they really, really want to do."That includes considering what the portfolio might look like when the markets are most volatile and declining."If the portfolio can survive that and you still see that there are positive results at end of life, well now we can start to model in some type of a reasonable schedule to share some of the wealth," she said.With this strategy, Griffith said a parent can back into the number that they feel they are able to give to their kids. Although a parent might want to do the full tax-free gift amount ($18,000 for one person in 2024, $36,000 for a couple), that might not be the right amount based on the resources they have when accounting for potential downturns."Stress testing the portfolio is a way for them to make an informed decision," she said, "not just with the heart, but also using the head so that they're also smart with it."Griffith said a wealth advisor can help complete a stress test using specific software that looks at various simulations of what could happen to a person's finances. "But again, we want to make sure that it's a smart choice, it's an affordable choice, and not just in the time period that they're asking. He shared the story of his search for his birth father in the BBC documentary "A Stranger in My Family."He told Business Insider he had felt "out of place" in his "own body and life" before doing the test, and he said in the documentary that he thought it was because he is gay. But he still felt different after he came out to his parents, so he decided to take a DNA test to learn about his heritage.Such tests work by comparing variants in the subject's DNA to the frequencies of different variants in populations from around the world. Davies' ancestors on both his parents' side were from near Manchester, as far as he knew, and he grew up identifying as white British. The test, however, produced a result of 22.5% West African, 32.5% Iberian, 23.4% English, 9.4% Scandinavian, with the remaining 12.2% labelled as "three more ethnicities."<h2>Davies' mother had an affair with a Portuguese man while on vacation</h2>When Davies asked his mother, Liz Davies, about his results, she revealed that she had had a fling with a bartender while on vacation in Albufeira, Portugal, 30 years earlier, during the early days of her relationship with the man Davies had thought was his biological father. No one questioned the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/woman-found-out-dad-isnt-biological-father-family-argument-2022-12">paternity</a> of her obviously darker-skinned son after he was born, so she didn't bring it up, she said.Luke Davies was determined to find the man, but his mother knew nothing more about him other than his name — Carlos — and the fact that he had worked at the bar.Davies did have one other lead, though. In addition to estimating ancestry, commercial DNA tests can be compared with others in a given company's database to match family members. Davies' result suggested he had a relative, Renato Pereira, who lived in Portugal.But Pereira didn't know anyone in his family named Carlos who was the right age to be Davies' father. So, Davies enlisted the help of a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/interior-designer-said-tracked-down-distant-relative-antique-photo-album-2021-9">genealogist</a>, Laura House, who figured out that Pereira was specifically Davies' half cousin. This meant that Pereira and Davies shared a grandfather — who must have been Carlos' father.Pereira told Davies that neither of his grandfathers had mentioned having a child named Carlos. But one of them, João Oliveira, had been part of the Portuguese Navy and had gone to fight against the independence movement in Guinea-Bissau, in West Africa, when he was about 17. They assumed that that was when Davies' father was conceived.<h2>Davies visited the place he was conceived and tracked down his father</h2>Finding himself at a dead end in investigating his DNA test matches, Davies went to visit Albufeira. He went with a friend of his mother's who had been on vacation with her when Davies was conceived, hoping she could identify the bar where Carlos had worked.She did, and House tracked Carlos down using the bar's old employee records. He agreed to a paternity test to see whether he was in fact Davies' father. It came back positive, and the two agreed to meet.The two had an emotional reunion in London. Carlos immediately accepted Davies when he came out to him and later introduced him to his other two sons.Carlos also told Davies that he hadn't known Oliveira, who had left Guinea-Bissau after the war. He said his mother had never told him about the nature of her relationship with his father, or his own identity.<h2>Davies gained another family and got closer to the one he already had</h2>Davies has come to terms with his multiracial identity, and has incorporated his birth grandfather's surname, Oliveira, into his surname to honor his heritage. Davies said that his relationship with his birth father and brothers "has gone from strength to strength."However, the test results "caused quite a lot of pain for the first year or so" in his immediate family, because he had to tell the father who raised him about his mom's infidelity. But the documentary forced them to confront the situation, and now he would consider them to be the closest they've ever been."Now that I've been able to piece together the past that I belong to, and build connections with family I've never known in the process, I feel healed and changed in ways that are hard to explain," he said. The candidates, who appeared for the JEE (Main) April 2019 examination, can check their results through candidate login by visiting the official website (link is given below). After somehow avoiding the virus for nearly two years — as far as I know — I tested positive on December 15. <h2>Generally, my risk has been low </h2>I work from home and abide by <a href="https://www.boston.gov/news/coronavirus-disease-covid-19-boston#covid-19-updates">Boston's indoor mask mandate</a> when running errands and going to the gym. I received both Pfizer vaccine doses this past spring but hadn't been able to find a booster-shot appointment in December. On Saturday, December 11, I'd attended a spin class where all participants were required to show their vaccination card and masks were recommended. Around half of the class participants wore masks. <h2>That following Monday, I woke up with a slight cough and some congestion</h2>By mid-morning, I felt some body aches and chills, but that only lasted an hour or two. Overall, I was exhausted and annoyed to be sick for the third time in four weeks as a generally fit and healthy adult. I continued to work over the next two days while lethargic, congested, and coughing. I canceled all in-person meetings, although I didn't even consider that I had COVID-19 until I got an email from the studio notifying me of possible exposure.<h2>As soon as I received the email, I suspected that I'd caught the virus </h2>Although <a href="https://www.prevention.com/health/a38580337/how-to-know-what-strain-of-covid-you-have/">tests don't indicate</a> the variant, I now believe based on <a href="https://www.wgbh.org/news/local-news/2021/12/20/omicron-is-now-the-dominant-covid-19-variant-in-massachusetts">Massachusetts rates</a> and <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/21/well/live/omicron-variant-symptoms-covid.html">early research</a> on <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/omicron-symptoms-cough-runny-nose-mild-us-europe-cdc-2021-12">symptoms</a> that I likely had Omicron.I called the local community health center where I normally take free COVID-19 PCR tests. Over the past 10 months, they could usually offer next-day appointments. On December 15, they were booked for the next seven days. <h2>I searched for online appointments at the 5 or so CVS pharmacies closest to me. All were booked for several days. </h2><div type="image" title="Take-home COVID-19 tests Bettis had" height="3024" width="4032" msid="88466098" hostid="261"></div>Some friends had purchased take-home rapid tests at their local pharmacy, but other Bostonians have <a href="https://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/2021/12/20/rapid-covid-test-boston/">described</a> the self-test rapid kit availability as dire. Although I had a few rapid tests on hand left over from an international work trip, I decided I didn't trust self-testing enough to rely on it before a weekend full of holiday plans. <h2>So I turned to the city's <a href="https://www.boston.gov/departments/public-health-commission/covid-19-testing-sites">online list</a> of COVID-19 testing sites and found one 2 miles away that took walk-ins </h2><div type="image" title="A clinic in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston on December 22" height="3024" width="4032" msid="88466101" hostid="261"></div>When I showed up mid-morning, the clinic had already been open for 20 minutes. The line circled half the block. But the holidays were coming up and I was symptomatic, so I didn't have much of a choice since the clinic was only open for four hours that day.I felt bad for the children and the elderly woman that had to stand in line in 40-degree weather. I tried not to cough. Finally, I got to the front of the line after waiting more than an hour. (As of December 22, patients at the same location waited closer to two hours.)<h2>After I stepped inside the clinic, I registered and sat another 10 minutes in a waiting room</h2>When it was my turn, I was privately administered a rapid test and told I would receive my results on an app the same day. Four hours later, I received my positive result. I've been quarantining since then, passing the time by working, reading, and catching up on movies.<h2>Thankfully, it was a mild case that I mostly recovered from after 4 days</h2>During the week of my quarantine, <keyword id="12054533" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="boston" source="Orion">Boston</keyword> and its surrounding area was averaging around 600 new cases a day — a significant increase from two weeks ago. It's a large number given that <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/suffolk-massachusetts-covid-cases.html">76% of all residents over the age of 12 are fully vaccinated</a> in the county.And over the past week, I've heard of at least a dozen friends around the country who also had tested positive or were suspected positive. Experts say that Omicron could be our most <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2021/12/17/1065083105/u-s-omicron-wave-could-be-the-worst-yet-projections-find-and-its-coming-fast">aggressive surge yet</a>.<h2>While it's not great news that many areas like Boston are experiencing a sudden surge in cases, it is good news that some testing sites are stepping up to the task — or trying to </h2>While lines have only increased at walk-in testing sites, Boston Public Libraries <a href="https://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/2021/12/20/rapid-covid-test-boston/">announced</a> on December 20 that they were handing out free take-home tests at branches around the city, and some of the <a href="https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/12/13/metro/state-will-start-distributing-2-million-free-covid-19-rapid-home-tests-hardest-hit-communities-baker-says/?p1=Article_Inline_Text_Link">hardest hit communities</a> are receiving take-home tests.I'm grateful to be out of quarantine a couple days before the holiday, although my family gathering will be a lot smaller than expected. While many families might need to postpone gatherings, we can remain hopeful that the delay is worth it to keep everyone healthy. This surge won't last forever.

It wants to drop NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination) for admission into MD (Doctor of Medicine) and MS (Master of Science) courses. If the draft National Medical Commission (NMC) bill goes through, students can be admitted based on score in the MBBS final examination and National Exit Test (NEXT), PTI<a href="https://www.thehindu.com/education/health-ministry-bill-proposes-to-axe-neet-pg/article28430886.ece"> reported</a>. They will also not be required to go through a separate examination to secure a licence to practice medicine, according to the proposed draft. The draft excludes All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) from the given criteria. The candidates wanting to enroll in PG courses in AIIMS will still have to go through the mandatory entrance exam. In addition to this, the NEET Super Speciality exam will also be mandatory to study Master of Surgery (Mch). The draft NMC Bill was tabled in the Parliament in 2017. It focussed at introducing a ‘bridge course’ that will enable medical practitioners of alternative medicine to pursue allopathy. However, it faced criticism from medical professionals and health associations in India. The bill was later revised with several amendments including aggressive punishments for unauthorised practice of medicine — a year long imprisonment or a fine of up to ₹500,000. However, to address the shortage of medical professionals, the government has <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/education/4800-mbbs-seats-reserved-for-economically-weaker-students-5826733/">allocated 26% more seats</a> for MBBS aspirants in the last two years — reserving nearly 5,000 seats for economically weaker sections. Overall, nearly 80,000 students take admission in MBBS courses every year in 480 institutes across the country. Of this, 150,000 take the entrance examination to enroll in PG courses.
