Sisodia also noted that the ‘next generation board’ will not be a replacement of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The move aims to help students prepare for school and entrance examinations at the same time. The new board will have separate grades for all subjects, focussing on the career interest of the student. "You have four grades for subjects. For instance, divide science into four grades — science for doctors and engineers, science for sportsperson, science for humanities. If a child wants to become a journalist, he can take A grade language and maybe C grade of science so that if he has to cover science, he is well-versed with the basics," Sisodia explained. The move aims to provide a blended learning experience to students. As of now, the school curriculum helps them with only 10% of entrance examination syllabus, making them go for extra coaching classes. This comes on the back of massive opposition in the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/cbse-exam-registration-fee-hike-rolled-back/articleshow/70669606.cms">examination fee hikes</a> rolled out by CBSE. The board increased the exam registration fee for SC and ST students by 24 times, making it ₹1,200 from the existing ₹50. It also doubled the exam fee for class 10th and 12th students of general category to ₹1,500, which was ₹750. However, it rolled back the fee to ₹50 for the Scheduled Caste(SC)/ Scheduled Tribes (ST) students studying at government schools. Delhi will get a new education board which will blend entrance exam prep with school syllabus

National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) entrance test schedule for the next session in 2020. According to the varsity’s official website, the online registration will begin from 2 March 2020. Interested applicants can visit the official website ntajnu.nic.in. The exam will be held from 11 May 2020 to 14 May 2020. And the admit cards for the same will be rolled out on 21 April 2020. The tentative date for the declaration of result is 31 May 2020. The test will include multiple choice questions (MCQs) of 100 marks. The duration of the online examination is 90 minutes. It wants to drop NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination) for admission into MD (Doctor of Medicine) and MS (Master of Science) courses. If the draft National Medical Commission (NMC) bill goes through, students can be admitted based on score in the MBBS final examination and National Exit Test (NEXT), PTI<a href="https://www.thehindu.com/education/health-ministry-bill-proposes-to-axe-neet-pg/article28430886.ece"> reported</a>. They will also not be required to go through a separate examination to secure a licence to practice medicine, according to the proposed draft. The draft excludes All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) from the given criteria. The candidates wanting to enroll in PG courses in AIIMS will still have to go through the mandatory entrance exam. In addition to this, the NEET Super Speciality exam will also be mandatory to study Master of Surgery (Mch). The draft NMC Bill was tabled in the Parliament in 2017. It focussed at introducing a ‘bridge course’ that will enable medical practitioners of alternative medicine to pursue allopathy. However, it faced criticism from medical professionals and health associations in India. The bill was later revised with several amendments including aggressive punishments for unauthorised practice of medicine — a year long imprisonment or a fine of up to ₹500,000. However, to address the shortage of medical professionals, the government has <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/education/4800-mbbs-seats-reserved-for-economically-weaker-students-5826733/">allocated 26% more seats</a> for MBBS aspirants in the last two years — reserving nearly 5,000 seats for economically weaker sections. Overall, nearly 80,000 students take admission in MBBS courses every year in 480 institutes across the country. Of this, 150,000 take the entrance examination to enroll in PG courses. MBBS doctors can skip entrance exams for MD and MS courses, if Health Ministry has its way

In the several education reforms announced by Finance minister <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword>, he has proposed to establish a <keyword id="581232" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Testing-Agency">National Testing Agency</keyword> which will conduct all the academic entrance examinations in India. 
 
This will take away the burden from Central Board of Secondary Education and All India Council for Technical Education in terms of the administration work related to examinations.

Apart from school exams at Class 10 and Class 12 level for CBSE affiliated schools, CBSE conducts major higher education related entrances in the absence of any national testing body. 
 
It conducts the Joint Entrance Exam-main (JEE Main) for engineering schools including IITs, and the National Eligibility Test for UGC for selecting professors in college and university system.

Jaitley just announced a National Testing Agency, so CBSE doesn't have to bother about academic entrance exams

The <keyword id="9669599" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="common-university-entrance-test" source="Orion">Common University Entrance Test</keyword> (<keyword id="12942090" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="cuet" source="Orion">CUET</keyword>) 2022 started on Friday for admission to undergraduate courses in colleges. Around 14,90,000 candidates have registered for CUET-UG, out of which, about 8,10,000 candidates are appearing in the first slot on July 15, while about 6,80,000 candidates will appear in the second slot starting from August 4. The <keyword id="581232" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="national-testing-agency" source="Orion">National Testing Agency</keyword> is conducting this test at various centres in 554 cities across <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> and 10 cities outside India. <keyword id="44171" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ugc" source="Orion">UGC</keyword> President M Jagadesh Kumar said that 98 per cent candidates have been allotted CUET exam centres in their chosen cities. According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), students have applied for 54,555 unique combinations of subjects under the new education policy. Significantly, under the new education policy, students have been given more freedom to choose the subjects of their choice. Due to this, unique combinations of different subjects have been created. The <keyword id="13437603" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="central-university-entrance-test" source="Orion">Central University Entrance Test</keyword> is being conducted for undergraduate courses in colleges on the basis of the class <keyword id="155806" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="xii" source="Orion">XII</keyword> syllabus only. There are no questions in the entrance test from the syllabus of any other class other than XII. The marks obtained in class XII will not be considered for admission in the colleges under CUET. 85 Indian universities will provide admission to students in undergraduate courses through this process. In the first slot, the exam will be held on July 15, 16, 19 and 20 while in the second slot it will be organised on August 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10. Students who clear these exams will be considered eligible for admission in 90 universities. These include 43 central universities. According to the NTA, keeping in mind the large number of subjects, a specific date sheet has been prepared for each candidate.
