<p><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/category/careers-20"></a></p><div type="image" title="Jensen Huang — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang speaks during a press conference at The MGM during CES 2018 in Las Vegas on January 7, 2018." height="2137" width="2849" msid="88152640" hostid="261"></div><ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="11897493" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="nvidia" source="Orion">Nvidia</keyword> is hiring for over 1,000 roles in the US, many with six-figure salaries. </li><li>Lindsey Duran, VP of recruiting, said she looks for project experience and humility in candidates.</li><li>The tech company has a reputation for transparency in its hiring process.</li></ul><p>Jensen Huang, the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/jensen-huang-nvidia-ceo-management-leadership-graphics-ai-cars-2021-4">CEO of Nvidia</a>, is the best recruiter for the tech company.  </p><p>"He's the first one to call a candidate, send an email, whatever's needed," said Lindsey Duran, the vice president of recruiting for Nvidia, the largest chipmaker in the US by market value. "He's a huge advocate of bringing on great talent." </p><p>Finding new, innovative team members is essential for Nvidia, as the company continues to expand into new markets like artificial intelligence, audiovisual, and 3D design. There are currently <a href="https://nvidia.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/NVIDIAExternalCareerSite/3/refreshFacet/318c8bb6f553100021d223d9780d30be">1,918 roles</a> open on the career portal, and Duran hinted that there will be even more openings in 2022. </p><p>Nvidia's recruitment push comes on the heels of a strong third-quarter, making <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/nvidia-stock-price-video-game-fueled-q3-earnings-metaverse-guidance-2021-11">$7.1 billion</a> in sales, a new record for the company and a 50% jump from last year, according to its November 17 <a href="https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/nvidia-announces-financial-results-for-third-quarter-fiscal-2022">earnings statement</a>.</p><p>An <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/nvidia-salaries-open-roles-engineering-sales-entry-level-jobs-2021-12#sales-4">Insider analysis </a>of federally disclosed 2021 H-1B visa data revealed that employees across teams like engineering, sales, and marketing make well over a $100,000 salary, including for college graduates. Duran told Insider that professional experience in internships or apprenticeships outside of school is key to helping candidates stand out. </p><h2><strong>Transparency in the process </strong></h2><p>After submitting an application, candidates can expect a phone screening and up to five virtual interviews, split across one-on-one chats, small groups, and panel interviews with team members. Duran emphasized that interviews are an opportunity for job seekers to get candid answers about "the good, the bad, and the ugly" when it comes to working for Nvidia. </p><p>She said transparency about the hiring process makes Nvidia unique. The company website also has lots of information about <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/reviews/out?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nvidia.com%2Fen-us%2Fabout-nvidia%2Fcareers%2F">what candidates can expect</a> and suggestions for how to prepare. </p><p>"In today's market, you need to be able to move quickly," Duran said. "Candidates today, they've got multiple offers. We have to be able to move at the speed of light but move without jeopardizing quality." </p><p>Current employees also play a key role in hiring, Duran says, as 40% of new hires come from employee referrals, either directly or through social media networks. </p><h2><strong>Opportunities to work on groundbreaking projects</strong></h2><p>Whether you're passionate about self-driving cars, health care, or robotics, Nvidia has projects across a wide range of technologies, Duran said. Across teams, she described working for Nvidia as an opportunity to do interesting, challenging work with smart team members. </p><p>"Come to Nvidia to do your life's work," she said. "We look at our opportunities not just to come fill a role, but to look at where you can find yourself for your career."</p><p>When she's meeting candidates, Duran said she looks for savvy, innovative thinkers who can set ego aside. </p><p>The best candidates have more than a computer science degree, Duran said. She looks for candidates with project experience in internships, and she also emphasizes leadership and communication skills that come across in interviews. </p><p>"You have to be passionate about the technology, and you have to want to work on really complex problems," she said. "We're really driven by the project. It's not about the title, it's about the work." </p>

<p><strong><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Engineer.AI</span></p><p class="caption">Engineer.AI cofounders Saurabh Dhoot and Sachin Dev Duggal</p></div><p></p></div></div></strong></p><ul class="summary-list"><li><strong>Custom software creator Engineer.AI has raised $29.5 million from Lakestar, Jungle Ventures, and SoftBank's AI-focused Deepcore fund.</strong></li><li><strong>Engineer.AI makes it easy for people with modest budgets and limited technical know-how to commission a custom app, website, or other software from scratch.</strong></li><li><strong>The startup uses AI to price its services and assign projects to its network of more than 30,000 engineers.</strong></li></ul><p>Engineer.AI, a startup that lets anyone create their own custom software, has raised $29.5 million in its first round of funding, led by Lakestar Ventures, Jungle Ventures, and SoftBank's Deepcore fund.</p><p>The Series A raise is notable for its size and for SoftBank's involvement. The Japanese firm has made waves by ploughing money into startups through its $100 billion Vision Fund, but <a href="http://deepcore.jp/en/news/release/20180531/">it also has the newly established $52 million Deepcore fund</a>.</p><p>According to Engineer.AI's British cofounder Sachin Dev Duggal, this is Deepcore's first non-Japanese investment. SoftBank did not immediately respond to a request for comment.</p><p>Engineer.AI's key product is its Builder tool, which is targeted at people who want to create an app, ecommerce site, marketplace, or website for their business but don't have the technical know-how or budget to commission developers and designers to build something bespoke. Duggal gives the example of someone running a French ski school with 200 instructors wanting a site and app that connects their different systems, but unable to afford the requisite $500,000 for custom software.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Engineer.AI</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>What is particularly clever about Engineer.AI is that it is efficient. It reuses different building blocks of code over and over again across its clients' different apps or services, meaning there's often no need to code major, expensive features from scratch, such as search. A one-off feature that would cost $30,000 to build from scratch can be offered at a tenth of the price to customers, because Engineer.AI can keep reusing the same building blocks of code. Duggal said the most reused building blocks are built by the top 1% of engineers on the company's network of developers.</p><p>"It's an assembly line for making software," he said. "It's reusable building blocks, like car manufacturing, and a lot of automation."</p><p>As users navigate through Builder and pick out different features for their app, site, or other software, the site uses a neural network to come up with a price. It costs extra, a little like Apple's AppleCare for iPhones.</p><p>And who is actually doing all the building?</p><p>Duggal says Engineer.AI has 31,500 engineers on its network and almost 100 developer shops.</p><p>Asked how the concept is different to asking freelancers on Upwork to code something cheaply, he said: "We don't work with freelancers, we buy excess capacity from other developer shops. And there is a lot more control over the individual doing the work.</p><p>"Secondly, unlike something like Upwork, we don't rely on a user rating... the bigger score is our AI that grades the [engineer's] code. We pick the developer that will work on [the software] on your behalf. And we guarantee quality and price."</p><p>Engineer.AI plans to use the new funding to scale up.
