She'd been asked to join Netflix's popular reality TV show "Selling Sunset" as one of its newest realtors.</p><p>But was she ready to let cameras into her life?</p><p>"I was not going to do the show, and I was hearing a lot of different, you know, mixed reviews from people in my life whether I should or shouldn't do it, because I am a very private person," Hernan told Insider.</p><p>"Both of my parents looked at me, and they said, 'Emma, give it a shot,'" she continued. "You've always been such a good person. This is your chance to inspire other people. When my parents both said that at the same time, that's when the decision was made in my mind, and shortly after that, an email was sent out on that end." </p><p>Three drama-filled seasons later, Hernan is still glad she took the plunge. Since joining the reality TV show in 2021, which chronicles the glamorous personal and professional lives of LA real-estate agents at the Oppenheim Group, the realtor, entrepreneur, and startup investor has seen her visibility as a public figure soar, helping Hernan land more clients and listings, for instance. </p><p>"The show's been so huge for me," she acknowledged. "It's given me a platform that I'm able to honestly go out there and inspire young girls to put their mind to whatever their dream is and never give up." </p><p>Season six, which debuts on Netflix on May 19, promises to be the show's "best season yet," said Hernan, who added it's "so so much more dynamic" with "so many different storylines."</p><p>Indeed, based on the trailer, the season delivers even <em>more</em> lavish homes, high-end fashion, and melodrama, thanks in part to the addition of two new castmates: Bre Tiesi and Nicole Young.</p><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/a9zkEqVoiv0" frameborder="0"></iframe><p>Longtime castmate Christine Quinn is missing this time around, which isn't exactly a surprise if you've followed the show.</p><p>During season four, Hernan and Quinn had some beef over an ex they both dated. (Long story, short: Quinn appeared to make a lot of something out of nothing.) And while Quinn has previously said she left the show and the Oppenheim Group to focus <a href="https://people.com/home/christine-quinn-left-oppenheim-group-to-open-new-real-estate-company-talks-selling-sunset-future/">on another venture</a>, there was also the matter of Quinn allegedly bribing one of Hernan's clients with $5,000 in exchange for not working with Hernan. </p><p>When asked about Quinn's departure from the show prior to season six, Hernan demurred. </p><p>"For me, it's just one of those things," she explained. "I'm a super positive person. I love to surround myself with strong empowering women that support each other."</p><p>"Not everyone is shining with empowerment, but it's nice to be surrounded by you know, women that are a little bit more empowering and, you know, want others to succeed," she added.</p><p>Hernan is certainly succeeding, but not without a little help. Hernan puts in long hours, although she also receives support from other members of the Oppenheim Group.</p><p>She also admitted that she invests "well into the six-figure range" on hair and makeup to look her best for each season of "Selling Sunset."</p><p>"It just so happens that my cousin happens to love styling and fashion," she adds. "My best friend is this famous NBA stylist. "I want someone like myself. I want someone that is going to go out there and honestly never give up. A lot of times failure can scare people. But what I always say is it's scarier than never trying at all. So, for me, I want to be with somebody and invest in a founder who is never gonna give up."</p>

The chic <a href="https://www.insider.com/selling-sunset-maya-vander-launches-real-estate-group-miami-2022-5">realtors</a> are filmed showing multi-million dollar <keyword id="6362117" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="houses" source="Orion">houses</keyword> to wealthy clients, driving around in flashy cars, and dining out throughout the day.</p><p>One of the realtors working at The Oppenheim Group, Emma Hernan, told Insider in an interview that the job isn't full of the glitz and glam that viewers might expect.</p><p>"What everyone doesn't see is that I'm crawling in a small space trying to see if the house is okay for inspections," Hernan said.</p><p>Despite being filmed wearing stylish outfits, Hernan said behind the scenes she has to wear a hard hat when attending house inspections in order to help out the construction team.</p><p>"The last property that I listed, I created the garden because I needed it to look perfect for staging," Hernan said. "I was telling them where to put the succulents."</p><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/selling-sunset-fun-facts-things-to-know">Selling Sunset</a> doesn't show how many viewings the realtors actually fit into one day, Hernan said. The true amount of daily showings have to be cut down because only so much can fit into one episode, she added.</p><p>In reality, the Oppenheim Group <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mary-fitzgerald-selling-sunset-los-angeles-real-estate-agent-schedule-2021-4">realtors</a> are running around LA, attending back-to-back house viewings, and meeting clients, Hernan said.</p><p>"Imagine trying to schedule to see 10 houses a day, scheduling them every 30 minutes, and then one of the agents changes the time," she said. "It's a lot of hard work."</p><p>Filming, which can last from three hours to 10 hours or more per day, means that Hernan can often work 15-hour days. Although it takes up a lot of time, Hernan, who is also the CEO of her own plant-based food company, said she's able to focus on other work during filming.</p><p>"I worked my butt off to get where I am today," Hernan said. She added that her biggest real estate deals came in at $15 million and $19 million. "I would definitely be the star of the circus for my juggling skills."</p>

It may be the battle of the brokerages! She explained that Brett and Jason will continue to work together and both appear on the show if it's renewed for a fourth season. </p><p>"Nothing has changed as far as our personal lives. It's just a matter of where he hangs his license," she said.</p><p>"Christine has a tendency to say things in a weird way. I'm sure it gets people talking, so I guess in some way it helps. According to court documents obtained by the outlet, Hartley cited irreconcilable differences with Stause. Between her <a href="https://www.insider.com/chrishell-stause-jason-oppenheim-relationship-announcement-outed-selling-sunset-2021-10">now-public relationship</a> with Jason and ongoing feud with Quinn, Stause likely won't be exempt.</p><h2>Davina Potratz left the Oppenheim Group</h2><div type="image" title="davina potratz" height="900" width="1200" msid="78627260" hostid="261"></div><p>In October 2020, the broker announced her plans to leave The Oppenheim Group. Potratz said she accepted an offer for a position at Douglas Elliman's global new development division in Beverly Hills.</p><p>"My background is in new development sales and marketing, so this is just a wonderful opportunity for me," she told <a href="https://people.com/home/selling-sunsets-davina-potratz-reveals-shes-leaving-the-oppenheim-group/">People</a>, explaining that Douglas Elliman made an offer she couldn't turn down and calling it a "purely business decision."</p><p>Potratz said that Jason was sad but understanding about her decision.</p><p>"Davina has always been a tremendous asset and a valued agent at the Oppenheim Group, and she is also a friend whose career decisions I very much respect and support. I will always want the best for Davina, and I hope that we continue to work together in the future," he said in a statement to People. </p><p>The broker hadn't told her "Selling Sunset" castmates about the news before making the announcement but said she expects they'll be "excited and supportive."</p><p>Even though she won't be part of The Oppenheim Group moving forward, Potratz will still appear on the upcoming episodes and already <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CVQk3_GsyAa/">shared behind-the-scenes footage</a> from production.</p>
