CAT Exam 2021: The registration starts today, here’s how you can register yourself

Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode released an official notification on <a href="https://iimcat.ac.in/per/g01/pub/756/ASM/WebPortal/1/index.html?756@@1@@1">Common Admission Test</a> (CAT) 2019. The interested candidates can register on the official website iimcat.ac.in. According to the website notification, the CAT exam 2019 will be held on 24 November 2019 across locations. And, registrations will begin on 7 August 2019. The last date to register for CAT exam is 18 September. The admit cards will be available on the institute’s official website on 23 October. The result is expected to be declared by the second week of January 2020. The registration fees for general categories is ₹1900 and ₹950 for reserved categories including SC, ST and PWD category candidates. The three-hour exam will include three sections — Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Ability. Each section will be allowed 60 minutes of time. However, students can not switch to a different section without completing the previous one. The exam paper will also include descriptive questions and the students will be allowed to use basic calculator available on the screen. “Tutorials to understand the format of the test will be available on the CAT website from October 16, 2019. Candidates are advised to work on the tutorials available on the CAT website well in advance,” said Prof. Shubhasis Dey, conveners, <keyword id="6697089" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="cat-2019">CAT 2019</keyword> in the <a href="https://iimcat.ac.in/per/g01/pub/756/ASM/WebPortal/1/PDF/CAT_2019_Media_Release.pdf">press release</a>. Eligibility Criterion The applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks. The students awaiting final year results can also apply for the exam. Candidates from reserved categories — SC/ST/PwD — should have at least 45% marks in graduation. Last year, the CAT exam was held on 25 November. The IIMs witnessed an 8% rise in female applicants as well.

(Photo Source: wikipedia.org) <ul><li>India’s latest Common Admission Test (CAT), which was conducted on 25 November for admissions into the 20 <keyword id="63618" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institute-of-Management">Indian Institute of Management</keyword> (IIM) schools, saw a 50% growth in women candidates taking the exam from six years ago. </li><li>Over 84,350 women candidates registered for the entrance test this year, up 8% from the previous year. </li><li>The IIMs credit up to 5% additional points in the selection process for women aspirants and non-engineers. </li></ul>The number of women candidates taking the latest Common Admission Test (CAT), mandatory for entry into India’s prestigious Indian Institute of Management, has jumped significantly in the last five years. For the latest exam held on 25 November, the number of women candidates was 50% higher than that recorded in 2013 with as many as 84,350 registrations. That figure marked nearly 8% rise in the <a href="https://m.timesofindia.com/home/education/news/50-jump-in-girls-taking-iim-entrance-in-5-years/amp_articleshow/66818559.cms">women candidate registrations</a> from the previous year. With 12,000 more candidates this year compared to last year, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) entrance registered 6,300 female candidates compared to 78,009 from last year. One reason behind the rise in women candidates is IIMs’ attempt to admit more women and increase diversity in classrooms by giving leverage to <keyword id="1312086" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="female-aspirants">female aspirants</keyword>, Times of India reported citing Sumanta Basu, CAT convenor from IIM Calcutta. Earlier, it was <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/current/economy-politics/entry-of-female-students-to-iims-sees-a-drop-in-2018/story/280940.html">reported</a> that the IIMs have been aiming at getting 30% women into the postgraduate programmes. The efforts seem to have paid off. The schools have seen a significant rise in placements for female students who accounted for 60% of total summer placement since 2013. <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Companies/YWvi89gxMQezc4ZMUoXi7N/How-IIMs-are-using-CAT-2018-to-take-in-more-nonengineers.html">According to</a> Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, total number of women admitted into the 2015-17 batch were 881, while 1,211 female students enrolled for 2017-2019 class.

In the several education reforms announced by Finance minister <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword>, he has proposed to establish a <keyword id="581232" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Testing-Agency">National Testing Agency</keyword> which will conduct all the academic entrance examinations in India. 
 
This will take away the burden from Central Board of Secondary Education and All India Council for Technical Education in terms of the administration work related to examinations.

Apart from school exams at Class 10 and Class 12 level for CBSE affiliated schools, CBSE conducts major higher education related entrances in the absence of any national testing body. 
 
It conducts the Joint Entrance Exam-main (JEE Main) for engineering schools including IITs, and the National Eligibility Test for UGC for selecting professors in college and university system.

The University of Delhi also abbreviated as DU is a public central university created in 1922. DU offers a wide range of courses in the under graduation, graduation, doctoral levels besides many diploma courses across a diverse range of fields like humanities, science, commerce, management, law, and engineering. Here we discuss how to get admission to the DU for the various graduate programs. Entry into Delhi University Admissions to DU are based on merit. The candidates seeking admission to the various courses need to clear an entrance examination conducted by NATA. For management courses, the scores of the CAT examination will be considered. For providing admissions to the dental and medical courses, NEET scores will be taken into account. Eligibility criteria for admission While seeking admission to the various courses in DU, students must ascertain if they satisfy the eligibility criteria specified by the university. Students of any age can seek admission to the various courses excepting in courses where the regulatory authorities including MCI, BCI, DCI and AICTE have specified the age limit. For taking admission to the various graduation courses the students must have completed 10+2 education in their school level with the main subjects related to the courses they wish to pursue in the graduation level. In addition, admission criteria to each of the courses specify a minimum percentage of marks for admission for which the details are available in the DU website. Entrance examination pattern The entrance examination pattern of the DU consists of multiple choice questions excepting in case of admission to language courses. The total duration of the entrance examination will be two hours. The students will have to take the entrance tests on computer-based mode. For UG courses, each question carries four marks with one negative mark for a wrong answer. The syllabus for the entrance tests for the UG courses will be based on the topics students studied in their plus 2 levels in their respective streams. The way to score well in the DU entrance exams for graduation courses includes becoming familiar with the exam syllabus, mastering the exam preparation materials available in the market, and practicing the previous year question papers. Admission process after the entrance examinations The results of the various entrance exams will be announced online in the month of July. For each of the categories, a separate merit list will be prepared by the university. The students are required to take a print out of the results for moving ahead with the subsequent admission process. For admission to the various merit-based UG courses, the university will announce the cutoff. The same will be published on the official website of the DU. The cut off will vary year on year depending on the demand of the seats in the given course. Candidates scoring the marks specified in the cut off can apply for admission. Scanned copies of the required documents will have to be uploaded online and once the admission is approved, the candidates will have to pay the admission fee online.

It will help them handle tough bankruptcy cases within a short time.</li></ul>India has a huge, emerging sector for helping distressed and bankrupt companies come out of financial difficulty. But it faces a huge shortage of bankruptcy professionals who can oversee the process. To make up for the lack, the Indian government is reportedly launching a fresh academic course — <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/stocks/news/want-to-graduate-in-insolvency-heres-how-you-can/articleshow/67534863.cms">Graduate Insolvency Program</a> — which will help train a new crop of insolvency professionals. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) will likely launch the program in first week of February. It will allow fresh candidates to take up Insolvency profession while presently hirings happen from the lot having at least 10-15 years of experience. The 27- month program aims to train nearly 45 such professionals annually. India introduced a new bankruptcy law, the <keyword id="6354456" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Insolvency-and-Bankruptcy-Code">Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code</keyword> (<keyword id="192838" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IBC">IBC</keyword>), two years ago — which was seen as a landmark law to help several banks resolve a huge pile of bad debt from under-performing or stressed companies. The new rules gave recourse to both the company’s promoters and creditors. How will the course benefit insolvency professionals? As of 2017, the country had nearly <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/jobs/jobs-how-will-graduates-gain-from-insolvency/articleshow/59850758.cms">600-700 insolvency professionals</a>, according to Mamta Binani, former president of Institute of Company Secretaries of India. While according to a senior official from ICAI, certified training programs have the capacity to create thousands of job opportunities. That is because, India’s National Company Law Tribunals have been flooded with hundreds of such cases that will need insolvency professionals for primary operations. Who will be eligible? The graduate insolvency program will be outsourced from prominent Indian institutions, and operate in sync with regulators. It will admit candidates from varied backgrounds from chartered accountants, post graduates in economics, finance, management, commerce, cost accountants, company secretaries and law graduates. However, there will be a minimum bar to qualify the elimination exam, just as for the Common Admission Test (CAT). Foreign nationals will also be eligible to take up the course — along with a reservation quota of five seats. The Indian government hopes the course will be added help for professionals already working on bankruptcy to solve the cases more efficiently. It will also give the professionals domestic and international exposure in the field through internships. The overall cost for the graduate program is yet to be declared. However, it is <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/current/economy-politics/alert-for-cas-law-students-check-out-new-graduation-course-on-bad-loans/story/310221.html">expected to cost </a>between ₹700,000 to ₹1,000,000. India has tried to groom insolvency professionals earlier as well.
