The company also reported a jump in revenue from operations for the April-June quarter of 2024-25. The stock jumped 15.77 per cent to Rs 128.09 on the BSE. Meanwhile, the group has rebranded its ride-hailing service as Ola Consumer, announced a partnership with Open Network of Digital Commerce (ONDC) and launched automated warehousing solutions to cater to quick commerce requirements. Besides, Ola said it will bring to the market the first indigenously designed and developed family of chips for AI, general computing and Edge by 2026 under its Krutrim venture. Speaking at Sankalp 2024 - Ola's annual launch event on Thursday, Ola Founder Bhavish Aggarwal said currently, two-thirds of India's two-wheeler market consists of motorcycles, and it was imperative for the company to enter the segment. "We have already been successful in accelerating the EV adoption in the scooter segment, and with our futuristic portfolio of products, we are now focused on supercharging the EV penetration through our motorcycles," he said. Aggarwal also said Ola's indigenously developed 'Bharat 4680' cell and battery pack will be integrated with its own vehicles starting in the first quarter of FY26. The company so showcased its all-new Gen-3 platform for two-wheelers. "Coupled with the integration of our cells in our vehicles starting early next year, we are determined to chart a new course for mass EV adoption across India," Aggarwal added.

Ola Electric shares surge nearly 16 percent

The company's losses in the April-June period of 2023 were Rs 267 crore, according to an exchange filing. Revenue from operations for the quarter under review was Rs 1,644 crore against Rs 1,243 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal, according to the filing. The Bengaluru-based firm said its total expenses during the first quarter grew to Rs 1,849 crore compared with Rs 1,461 crore in the June quarter of FY24. The company made its market debut earlier this month. The company in a statement said its automotive segment (E2W) posted a strong improvement in EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization) margin and is close to EBITDA breakeven. The quarter witnessed the highest-ever deliveries of vehicles by the company at 1,25,198 units as against 70,575 units delivered in the same period last year, <keyword id="4393078" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ola-Electric" source="Orion">Ola Electric</keyword> Mobility said. The company also said it ramped up deliveries of its mass-market scooter portfolio (S1 X portfolio) during the quarter which helped accelerate the growth, adding that the existing product portfolio also saw strong demand which continued growth momentum throughout the quarter. According to Ola, the increasing scale of operations has benefited the company in the form of lower manufacturing costs and supply chain optimization. These benefits of scale are further amplified by the company's scalable platform-based product development and manufacturing technology that results in high degrees of commonality across its products, it said. The company also announced on Wednesday the integration of its cells in its vehicles by the first quarter of next fiscal. Ola said it will launch its electric motorcycle portfolio across mass and premium segments during its annual flagship event on August 15, 2024. Ola Electric Mobility losses widen to ₹347 crore in Apr-Jun quarter

The series C funding comprises USD 15-million in <keyword id="21822065" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="equity-closure" source="keywords">equity closure</keyword>, as part of its ongoing USD 50-million round, which comprises USD 40-million in equity and USD 10-million in debt, the company said in a statement. The fresh capital raised under Series C, in which other investors existing investors 9unicorns, IAN fund, venture catalysts, WFC and others also participated, will be utilised to expand Zypp's fleet from 21,000 to 2-lakh electric scooters and extend its services to 15 cities across India by 2026, it added. The fresh investment will help Zypp in the last-mile delivery space with sustainable EV solutions, said Akash Gupta, Co-founder and CEO of Zypp Electric. "We are eager to expand our fleet and enhance our tech platform, driving significant growth across India. These funds will be utilised to drive the company towards the full path of growth along with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) profitability," he added. Further, Zypp Electric said it has forayed into the three-wheeler cargo business and claims of soon crossing 1,000 electric L5 loaders in its EV fleet and added that the company is set to cater to a wider range of business needs while maximising revenue streams, among others. According to Zypp Electric, it clocked Rs 325-crore revenue in FY 2023-24 and launched operations in Mumbai and Hyderabad recently. "In India, the last-mile delivery market is skyrocketing especially within urban areas. Zypp is operating its business as a pioneer in the EV motorcycle delivery market with competitiveness and this is the reason why we made the decision to invest," ENEOS was quoted as saying in the statement. TVS Motor sales slip 3.58% to 2,42,012 units in Dec

TVS Motor Company on Friday reported a 31 per cent rise in total dispatches to 3,64,231 units in November 2023. The company had sold a total of 2,77,123 units in November 2022, TVS Motor Company said in a statement. Two-wheelers <keyword id="6357824" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sales" source="Orion">sales</keyword> were at 3,52,103 units in November 2023 as compared to 2,63,642 units in the same month last year, up 34 per cent, it added. Domestic two-wheeler sales grew by 50 per cent to 2,87,017 units in November 2023 as against 1,91,730 units in November 2022. <keyword id="6359451" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="motorcycle" source="Orion">Motorcycle</keyword> posted a growth of 19 per cent at 1,72,836 units last month as compared to 1,45,006 units in November 2022, while <keyword id="6359452" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="scooter" source="Orion">scooter</keyword> clocked 1,35,749 units as against 83,679 units in the year-ago month, a jump of 62 per cent. <keyword id="119445" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tvs-motor-co" source="Orion">TVS Motor Co</keyword> said it sold 16,782 units of iQube electric scooter in November 2023 over sales of 10,056 units a year ago. Pure EV raises $8 million in latest funding round

New Delhi, <keyword id="4393078" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ola-Electric" source="Orion">Ola Electric</keyword> on Thursday said it has raised Rs 3,200 crore from Temasek-led investors and State Bank of India. The company announced the successful closure of the funding round from Temasek-led investors and State Bank of India. The funds raised would be utilised towards expansion of <keyword id="6354720" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ola" source="Orion">Ola</keyword>'s EV business and setting up India's first lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility at Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, the company said in a statement. The Bengaluru-based firm aims to accelerate its growth by ramping up its two-wheeler manufacturing capacity, launching electric motorcycles followed by electric cars and fast-tracking the construction of gigafactory, it added. "At Ola, our vision is to end ICE (internal combustion engine) age in automobiles and our upcoming gigafactory will be a big leap in India's journey towards becoming a global EV hub. Spectators got their first view of the robot at the <a href="https://biz.nikkan.co.jp/eve/irex/">2022 International Robot Exhibition (iREX)</a> in Tokyo. Riders can control the robot via handlebars. Though, the company did not give any specifics on the robot's speed capacity, the video shows the robot goat moving at a slow pace.Kaleido <a href="https://event.kawasakirobotics.com/jp/irex2022/en/humanoid/kaleido-slim/">said</a> on its website that the Bex can carry up to 220 pounds, including human passengers. Soube said the product is still in development, but anticipated it could be used to carry cargo in warehouses and factories. The robot has a modular upper body, meaning the goat construction can be removed if needed.The company also debuted a humanoid robot at the Tokyo event. Soube said they created the robot to be used for anything from factory work and disaster relief to nursing home care. In its demonstration, the bi-pedal robot dances and waves at the audience.Soube said that traditionally robots have been operated by programmers, but the humanoid robot is able to learn intuitively, using motion capture.The practical use of robots has come more into play since the pandemic as companies struggled to combat labor shortages. Last year, American companies <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/labor-shortage-american-companies-order-robots-record-number-staff-2021-11">ordered</a> a record 29,000 robots. Motorcycle giant Yamaha is building a device to make electric vehicles sound like 'Star Wars'

EV startup <keyword id="13020976" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Oben-Electric" source="Orion">Oben Electric</keyword> on Tuesday said it has raised Rs 40 crore in an extended pre-series A round and also announced it will start delivering its electric motorcycle Rorr to customers in Bengaluru from next month. The company has so far secured a total funding of Rs 88 crore, including Rs 72 crore (both in equity and debt) in the pre-Series A round, <keyword id="13025321" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="oben" source="Orion">Oben</keyword> said in a statement. The capital infusion will help the company in scaling up its production capacity at the Bengaluru facility to 100,000 units per year as well as meet the working capital requirements for distribution expansion, it said. The Bengaluru-based EV startup which has a distribution network across major cities in the country, plans to meet the demand of 21,000 pre-orders by scaling up its manufacturing capacity, the company said. The funding round attracted both Institutional investors such as Stride Ventures and Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), along with new investors including Mumbai Angels and other high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), Oben said. Besides, existing investors such as Kalvani Family Office, US India EV Angels, and We Founder Circle also participated in the fundraise, it said. "The additional fund infusion came after meticulously planning the delivery dates and to meet the existing and future customer demand of our product Oben Rorr. The latest infusion of funds will be used to meet our committed delivery timeline that is set for the first week of July," said Madhumita Agrawal, Founder-CEO, Oben Electric.
