Earlier, on a truncated day two of the Test when Bairstow was off to an slow start in bowler-friendly conditions, Kohli was heard saying, "A bit faster than Southee, eh?" As Kohli kept chirping from the slip cordon, he attracted Bairstow's attention and thus began the exchange of words between the two. In between, Kohli was seen putting his finger on his mouth and gesturing Bairstow to get back to batting, with words like "shut up, just stand and bat" coming in the 33rd over. The umpires had to come in to separate the duo as England skipper <keyword id="6369580" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ben-stokes" source="Orion">Ben Stokes</keyword> saw all of this from the non-striker's end. English broadcaster and television personality <keyword id="107844" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="piers-morgan" source="Orion">Piers Morgan</keyword> took to social media and posted an image of Kohli blowing a kiss towards Bairstow as the England batter made his way to the dressing room. "Kohli has a brass neck blowing mocking kisses at a bloke who's scored three more Test hundreds in the past month than he has in the past 2.5 years," tweeted Morgan. Another critic was even more uncharitable, saying, "Few players more insufferable in test cricket than Virat Kohli. Blowing kisses at Bairstow who's scored more centuries today than Kohli has in about three years. Focus on your own game. #ENGvsIND." Another cricket broadcaster Fabian Cowdrey tweeted, "No idea why #Kohli has to act the way he does. He's a world class player, but blowing kisses to Bairstow on his way off... Seriously? #ENGvIND." Another fan felt Kohli's celebrations were "pathetic". "Virat Kohli's celebration there is embarrassing and pathetic. I'd be having a word personally, don't like it. Social media slams Kohli's 'pathetic' on-field celebrations

Its been 15 years, but it feels like last week. Catching a train from Manchester to Birmingham with my father, munching on potato chips and talking about a rather one-sided semi-final between Pakistan and <keyword id="22501" type="COUNTRY" weightage="40" keywordseo="New-Zealand">New Zealand</keyword> that we'd just taken in, watching the 1964 <keyword id="17991" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="James-Bond">James Bond</keyword> flick Goldfinger on the eve of the game, bumping in to Pat Symcox in the lobby of our hotel the morning of it, and then trooping over to Edgbaston for the second semi-final of the 1999 World Cup. 
 But that's secondary. We're only talking about this day because of what transpired on the cricket field on June 17, 1999 - exactly 15 years ago. So lets rewind to that lovely English summer's day. The day <keyword id="17439" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Shane-Warne">Shane Warne</keyword> enjoyed his best day in Australian yellow. 
 It is, truly, the stuff of folklore; the bizarre last over, with the two boundaries hammered by <keyword id="209561" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Lance-Klusener">Lance Klusener</keyword>, the inexplicable mix-up with <keyword id="56876" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Allan-Donald">Allan Donald</keyword>, the scores tied. But anyone who was at Edgbaston that day will say that it belonged to Warne. Five months after a return from shoulder injury, Warne bowled a spell eerily reminiscent of the semi-finals of the previous World Cup, when victory had threatened to slip out of Australia's reach.

Hansie Cronje lasted just two deliveries, as an attempted flick to the onside went to first slip and Warne had three wickets in eight alls. Called back for his final spell, Warne added <keyword id="61954" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Jacques-Kallis">Jacques Kallis</keyword> to his kitty and a spell of 4 for 29 had been completed. 
 We all know how that epic match ended, but for this writer it is the memory of watching Warne in action for the first time live that trumps everything else. Even being invited up the stairs to the TV broadcaster's box and seeing Ian Botham and Geoffrey Boycott just feet away, while narrowly missing bumping in to <keyword id="6367229" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Ricky-Ponting">Ricky Ponting</keyword> on the way down. That was the effect Warnie had.

After chasing 277, 299 and 296 against New Zealand, England chasing 278 against India also made them the first team in Test cricket to chase four 250+ scores successfully in consecutive matches. Root and Bairstow were efficient, flawless and dominant in their unbeaten stand of 269 as the Bazball winning juggernaut continues for England. Nine balls into day five in front of a crowd offered free tickets, the ball was changed, not for the first time in the match. The last time ball change happened; India got three quick wickets on day four. But Jonny Bairstow quashed all hopes of an encore, slamming back-to-back boundaries through cover point and backward point. ENG v IND, 5th Test: England storms to record win over India

The successful completion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the selling of the media rights for it is the news that <keyword id="1523" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-cricket" source="Orion">Indian cricket</keyword> is celebrating. The most important aspect of any venture is the financials, and the <keyword id="6354756" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bcci" source="Orion">BCCI</keyword>, one feels, is comfortable with it. The Indian domestic season ended with the completion of the Ranji Trophy. Madhya Pradesh winning it with not a single International player in its midst is a remarkable story. One has to give kudos to each of the playing members of the side, especially, in the way they showcased teamwork and togetherness. One has to admire the coaching skills of Chandrakant Pandit, who has with this win etched himself as the best-ever cricket performance coach in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. Indian cricket may look like it is sailing through calm waters as a cricket establishment. However, one gets the feeling that cricket on the field is in a maze. There seems to be plenty of uncertainty as regards to the players and now with the captain as well. India will be playing an important Test match at Edgbaston in Birmingham today. With a 2-1 lead in the series, India may be in the driver's seat with nothing major to lose. However, a victory against England for all Indians is always a special occasion. Completing a pending series eight and a half months since the last Test match of that series is in itself an amusing story. India and England in the meantime have both changed their captains and their coaches. The momentum that India had gained and established mentally as a superior unit may no longer hold. A one-Test encounter in a foreign land is never a right approach and India have suffered from this in the past. The inaugural World Test Championship, when India played New Zealand, the latter having played a few matches before, was a prime example of a team not acclimatised for the big occasion. The Indian Test team seems to be in the same predicament at present. They have landed after playing two months of T20 cricket into playing the true traditional and conventional form of the game. Test cricket requires one to be patient and draws one into a mental state that is far different from the glamorous hit-or-miss variety of the T20. India are also in a flap as regards captaincy. Jasprit Bumrah has been named captain because of the unavailability of Rohit Sharma. The ideal solution would have been to request Virat Kohli to lead. Bumrah is the leading force for India as a bowler. However, captaincy could become a burdensome issue for him. Furthermore, he has not even captained a First-class side before and, therefore, putting this additional responsibility on his shoulder would not be fair to him. God and lady luck need to shine on India, as without KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and the lack of confidence in their batters in Cheteshwar Pujara , Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, the blessings of the almighty is all what Indian fans must be praying for. The England side looks confident and cocky having won the series 3-0 against New Zealand. Their new aggressive approach has been a revelation in the way in which they bat. One admires it when it all comes out right but cricket history has shown that it could come to bite you as well. India has the bowling arsenal to demolish England's belief. Rahul Dravid has a major issue and that is to select the ideal and best eleven for the Test match. Apart from Virat Kohli, not a single spot in the batting order is in order. India possesses both pace and good spin-bowling options. The English weather tempts one to go in with an extra pacer but for India to leave out R. Ashwin would be a folly. However, the most concerning part would be Bumrah as a captain and as to how he marshals the side. India, on the other hand have their eyes focused on the T20 World Cup at the end of this year. Australia is the venue and identifying the players for it would be a challenge. The reason being that the IPL throws out players who have performed well in it and they seem to be favoured in the selection of the national side as well. This has led to a huge pool of players, all showcasing similar skills amongst them. Along with the regular established players, identifying the best from the rest is going to be a difficult task. One feels India is over-extending itself by playing two series at one time. An Indian cap has become an everyday affair. A good performance in the IPL and one is a part of one of the Indian side, if not in the senior side, then at least in one of the limited-overs one. None of the other countries send two teams to play two different series. One wonders whether the Indian players will be fresh enough to play the T20 World Cup, given the schedule of matches that they will be playing before it. Giving a cricketer a well-deserved break is not the answer. A team needs to have continuity and camaraderie to understand one another. This comes from playing as many matches together and spending quality time with one another, away from the ground. The Indian team needs to confine itself to a camp where strategies and plans are discussed and decided. This is where India has failed earlier and has, therefore, not won an ICC Trophy since 2014. One hopes Dravid changes it or else we will once again ask "WHY". In the gloom of the Edgbaston weather, there was a moment which sparked a talking point in the fifth ODI. In the 43rd over, Sachithra Senanayake mankaded Jos Buttler. Apparently, Buttler was warned twice which was fair enough. When he did it for the third time, Senanayake knocked the bails off at the bowler's end and the appeal was made. The umpires conferred with <keyword id="6355572" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sri-Lanka">Sri Lanka</keyword> <keyword id="16561" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="skipper">skipper</keyword> Angelo Mathews and he did not withdraw the appeal. Buttler was given the marching orders and Edgbaston roared with boos. 
 
It was interesting to note that Senanayake was in the midst of this situation. Prior to the match, there was some tension on the surface when it emerged that his action was reported after the conclusion of the fourth ODI at Lord's. The furore generated by the British press centred on only one broad fact which was: The move was technically sound but not in the spirit of the game. Now, cricket has often been caught in the crossroads when it comes to technical execution and spirit of the game. This can be a subject matter for later. 
 The controversy generated by the off-spinner takes our memory back to that warm and sunny day in Adelaide during the Carlton and United tri-series in 1999 between England and Sri Lanka. Umpire Ross Emerson no-balled <keyword id="26689" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Muttiah-Muralitharan">Muttiah Muralitharan</keyword> and signalled that he was called for chucking. Skipper Arjuna Ranatunga did not appreciate it and play was held up for 14 minutes as Ranatunga led his players off the park. After heated consultations with the <keyword id="343751" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Sri-Lankan-Cricket-Board">Sri Lankan Cricket Board</keyword>, play went on but the bad blood did not end there. Darren Gough head-butted Roshan Mahanama after the batsman was apparently trying to obstruct the bowler's path while taking a run. Alec Stewart also did it and he went one step further by telling Ranatunga that his behavior as a country <keyword id="1411" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="captain">captain</keyword> was appalling. 
 
In this backdrop, the accusations came from both sides. Umpire Emerson went on to say that Muralitharan's action was worse than ever but the ICC had cleared the bowler of chucking. The media, in general, was critical of Emerson for pursuing his own agenda. 
 There have been further instances of controversy when England and Sri Lanka squared off in a three-Test series in 2001. In that series, bad umpiring from all the officials, most notably from BC Cooray in the second Test at Kandy, led to a breakdown in behavior from players in both teams. The moment which grabbed plenty of eyeballs came when Kumar Sangakkara and <keyword id="90933" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Michael-Atherton">Michael Atherton</keyword> were involved in a heated argument with Atherton wagging his finger at Sangakkara. Apparently, Atherton claimed that Sangakkara called the England team cheats. 
 When one looks at the events in Edgbaston, the issue is not on whether Senanayake had broken the law. Clearly, he and Sri Lanka did no wrong in mankading Buttler. Once bitten, twice shy is a sign for individuals to be careful. Repeating the offence a third time, even after getting warned in the previous over, was a clear sign that it was time for Buttler to go. England captain <keyword id="9234" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Alastair-Cook">Alastair Cook</keyword> said that a line has been crossed. However, he would do well to remember this line from British novellist George Jenkins' book, 'The Strange Case of Mr. Challoner'. In that, the now famous line was said when a crime was committed, 'The But(t)ler did it.' 
 
Senanayake and Sri Lanka should be commended for this action. England, and more urgently, Buttler needs to introspect and look carefully at the laws. It is clear: Sri Lanka were right and England were in the wrong. What is your opinion?

But it says there should be a new backstop for Ireland which involves new laws. It says Northern Ireland should be treated differently to the rest of the UK to avoid a hard border, retaining all EU agricultural health checks, and proposes checks for other products, such as medicines, should be carried out away from the Northern Ireland-Ireland border. Experts suggested the proposals would not altogether remove the need for a border, however.3. On trade, the report recommends scrapping the "common rulebook" for goods proposed in May's Chequers blueprint. It says such a scheme would make it "all but impossible" to do trade deals with non-EU countries. 4. On trade, the IEA called for the elimination of tariffs and quotas on all the products the UK doesn't produce. It says membership of the EU has hampered economic growth in Britain as it "prevents the UK from entering into its own free trade agreements with countries outside the EU."5. Henig also argues that the report does not establish how damaging it would be for the UK to diverge. After an abysmal run in the 1-3 Test loss, the Indian team showed their true mettle in coloured clothing when they reversed the Test result, winning the rain-hit five-match ODI series 3-1. India's win in the ODI series against a side not known to be a force in the limited-overs encounter wasn't surprising given their superiority in the format. However, Twenty20 followers would feel that India's three-run loss against an eighth-ranked England side shouldn't be an ideal way to end a largely disappointing tour for India. 
 
Gocricket.com has analysed the individual performances of the Indian players in the five-match series and the one-off T20I. Here is the report card.

Played responsibly in his only knock of the ODI series before injuring himself. One of the major positives in his 87-ball 52 at Cardiff was the restrained approach he showed while facing quality new-ball bowling. He was willing to bide his time in the middle and let a more enterprising partner, Ajinkya Rahane on this occasion, take charge. He was dismissed just before promising a bigger knock. A fit and in-form Rohit Sharma will auger well for Team India as the lead-up to the 2015 World Cup builds. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/shikhar-dhawan/4001/28004">Shikhar Dhawan</a>: 6/10 
 
His match-winning 97 not out looked the odd-one-out innings in the five matches he played (four ODIs, one T20I). More often than not, Dhawan repeated the same mistakes he made in the Tests – getting out to balls outside off stump and playing one shot too many after getting set. Dhawan was more looking to thump and muscle the ball instead of just timing it well. His unbeaten knock in the fourth ODI at Edgbaston showed why he is such a dangerous batsmen and oppositions will continue to target him. A player who <a href="http://www.gocricket.com/news/India-in-England-2014-Shikhar-Dhawan-Ajinkya-Rahane-camaraderie-augurs-well-for-India/articleshow/41610038.cms">feeds off success of another teammate</a>, Dhawan didn't make an effort to shield his weaknesses against the moving ball or his uncanny ability to gift wickets to non-threatening spin. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/ajinkya-rahane/4001/32045">Ajinkya Rahane</a>: 8.5/10 
 
With 192 runs in four matches, Rahane was easily the batsman of the series. He showed that he has taken his limited-overs game up by leaps and bounds. Of course, the experience of doing well in the preceding Test series benefitted him. His maiden ODI ton, a classy 106 at Edgbaston, has given selectors the realistic option of using Rahane as a third opener in the 2015 World Cup <a href="http://www.gocricket.com/news/India-vs-England-2014-Ajinkya-Rahane-makes-amends-at-the-top/articleshow/41545757.cms">provided either Dhawan or Rohit fail</a>. India could have profited a lot more had he not fell after getting starts in his previous two knocks (a 47-ball 41 at No 4 and 56-ball 45 at No 1). 
 The fact that may go unnoticed is that he had the best strike rate among India's top-4 in the ODI series (93.8) and he hit six sixes in the four ODIs and one T20I, most by an Indian this series along with <keyword id="14587" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Suresh-Raina">Suresh Raina</keyword>. His fielding in the run saving positions was among the best one can see by an Indian in recent years, especially in the T20I where he took four catches. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/virat-kohli/4001/25007">Virat Kohli</a>: 3.5/10 
 Passing marks? Not quite. Indian <keyword id="1521" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cricket">cricket</keyword> lovers would groan at the prospect of waiting till the last match of a more than two-and-a-half month tour to see a Kohli fifty. After a forgettable Test run, Kohli was expected to do a lot better in the ODIs, which he didn't as his 54 runs in three innings would suggest. Seemed to have got close to hitting some form with a neat 50-ball 40 in the third ODI at Trent Bridge but his dismissal in the fifth ODI to <keyword id="80896" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="James-Anderson">James Anderson</keyword> made it evident that he is still coming to grips with 'how to play the moving ball outside off stump' syndrome. 
 
In the run-feast of the T20I, Kohli - India's most prolific limited-overs run scorer since the 2011 World Cup came into his own. Despite his 41-ball 66, he failed to take the team across the finish line, something which he is so used to doing in ODIs. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/suresh-raina/4001/4059">Suresh Raina</a>: 8.5/10 
 Perhaps the best thing to have happened to the Indian team after the Test debacle was Raina, who was back for the ODIs and firing in all cylinders. His counter-attacking 75-ball 100 at Cardiff, hailed by many as one of India's best-ever overseas knocks in ODIs, set the tone for the series as well as giving assurance and belief to India bowlers to do well. Raina's close catching, especially the sharp take to get rid of <keyword id="9234" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Alastair-Cook">Alastair Cook</keyword> at gully, was inspiring. His role as a senior player in the current side was visible during his movement inside the circle, his applause of a fielder and by speaking a word of encouragement to an inexperienced bowler. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/Raina-draws-attention-with-performance-and-infectious-energy/Joshua-Nath/columnshow/41694007.cms">Raina's synergy on the field was infectious</a>, which lifted the atmosphere of the team. Technically, he played the short ball well and didn't show a glaring weakness with the bat. His off spin was more than handy as he took four wickets, one in each ODI, at an economy rate of just over four-and-a-half (4.68). 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/ms-dhoni/4001/4057">MS Dhoni</a>: 8/10 
 
Needless to say, most of Dhoni's points are for his captaincy. In the first three ODIs, his bowling changes, field positioning and his reading of the game was astute and he didn't look like a captain who had a terrible team performance in the three previous international outings. Acknowledged the areas his side needs to improve on, especially death-overs bowling that was highlighted in the loss at Leeds and in the T20I at Edgbaston. En route the 3-1 series win, he became India's most successful ODI skipper with 91 victories. 
 As a batsmen, his 52 at Cardiff was the perfect foil for a marauding Raina at the other end. After not being required to bat in the third and fourth ODIs, he missed out in the fifth ODI and his habit of taking the match till the end keeping the bulk of big-hitting to himself backfired in the lone T20I, which allowed the hosts to eke out a three-run win. Increasingly, Dhoni needs more performers like Raina, Rahane and <keyword id="479464" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bhuvneshwar-Kumar">Bhuvneshwar Kumar</keyword>. Add to that an in-form Kohli, wicket-taking spinners and incisive new-ball bowlers and Dhoni has a team to beat in the 2015 World Cup. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/ambati-rayudu/4001/31025">Ambati Rayudu</a>: 7.5/10 
 
Still isn't a finished product but made good use of the chances he got in the middle order - something that could would have been difficult to come by had Rohit not got injured. Rayudu scored fifties in each of the innings he got to bat in the ODIs, scoring 117 runs in all. Displayed a calm head on his shoulders at this level during his match-winning unbeaten 64 in the Trent Bridge ODI. While, two matches later, he frittered a brilliant chance to score a big one and threw his wicket away after getting to 53. Areas where he can improve – batting strike rate (81.81) and ground fielding, where he could be found a tad slow to move on the field. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/ravindra-jadeja/4001/32004">Ravindra Jadeja</a>: 8/10 
 
Ravindra Jadeja the left-arm spinner was at his best in the ODIs. Barring the mauling he received from the hands of Joe Root in the final ODI at Leeds, Jadeja had excellent figures of seven for 106 at an economy rate of just under four in the ODIs. He was the chief benefactor of English batsmen trying to sweep and trying to hit out. As a batsmen, he did shine in a lone effort at Leeds - hitting a fighting 87 off 68 balls. Coming in at number seven and having a career-average of 35, in Jadeja, Dhoni has an able finisher, who comes under pressure of having to deliver each time. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/ravichandran-ashwin/4001/26007">R Ashwin</a>: 7.5/10 
 
Led the slow-bowling attack well and revelled in the partnership with Jadeja against not the most adept players of spin. Ashwin's figures of three for 39 at Trent Bridge earned him the Man-of-the-Match award as he outfoxed the batsmen. Where every other bowler was being targeted by the English batsmen in the Leeds game, Ashwin put brakes on the scoring. He didn't try and overuse his variations. His seven wickets in four games at an average of 24 and an economy of less than 4.50 is encouraging for India. Ashwin needs to improve his ground fielding, running between the wickets and continue to take wickets in the middle overs in order to silence his detractors. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/bhuvneshwar-kumar/4001/25023">Bhuvneshwar Kumar</a>: 7.5/10 
 
The only Indian bowler to play all the Tests and ODIs on the tour, Bhuvneshwar is fast becoming Dhoni's go-to man. He troubled Alex Hales with an in-swinging ball and was hard to get away for the batsmen with the new ball. He commanded the respect of the England batsmen as he kept things tight and seldom wavered from the right channel – a series economy rate of 4.32 is testimony to that. After a long tour and a truckload of overs, this 24-year-old will welcome the month-long rest. He took five wickets for 134 runs in the four ODIs. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/mohammed-shami/4001/30030">Mohammed Shami</a>: 8/10 
 
The most improved bowler since the Tests, Shami showed why he was touted as India's future strike-bowler when he made his Test debut last year. He felt at home playing the ODIs, ran in with a positive attitude and looked to take wickets at all times - something which wasn't quite visible in the Test series. His speeds were up there and he got the ball to move late. Shami was easily the best bowler in either side with eight wickets with a best of three for 28 at Edgbaston and a series average of a wicket every 19 runs and 24 balls. His economy rate too came down to 4.77 in the series, a marked improvement over his career record. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/mohit-sharma/4001/26024">Mohit Sharma</a>: 5/10 
 <keyword id="46772" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mohit-Sharma">Mohit Sharma</keyword> did well in the two ODIs he played but couldn't get a breakthrough as he gave away 35 runs in his nine overs before missing out on the final two matches due to injury. He got the ball to jag away from Cook and tied the opening batsmen down. Also, the Chennai Super Kings and Haryana medium-pacer got the odd ball to bounce more than expected. Mohit came back in the T20I but got hit for plenty as his death bowling skills were tested to the core while being pasted by Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara for 21 runs in an over in Edgbaston. The 24-year-old still needs to do more in order to give selectors the hint that he is one of India's fast bowling options. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/umesh-yadav/4001/28013">Umesh Yadav</a>: 3/10 
 
Umesh did little to stake claim in the ODI playing XI as was largely erratic in the one match he played, giving away 46 runs in his six overs. His only bright spot was the dismissal of Hales, beating him for pace on a short delivery. Pace is fine in the early 140s, but he needs to get the ball to move both ways to make an impact. And most importantly, he needs to hit the right line and length repeatedly. 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/player/dhawal-kulkarni/4001/31006">Dhawal Kulkarni</a>: 3/10 
 
Some may argue that he got a raw deal after playing just one match, in which he went wicketless and didn't trouble the batsmen. His speeds were up there in the high 130 kmph and hit the 140 mark on more than couple of occasions. Uncertainty, although remains over whether he will be retained in the team for the series against West Indies.

India's Limited-Overs Report Card Of England

There is no precedent for such a "grand coalition" in Britain outside of the all-party National Government coalitions in the First and Second World War.To give you an idea of just how extraordinary such a deal would be, on current projections by Election Forecast <keyword id="6354868" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="UK">UK</keyword> a coalition between Labour and the Conservatives would mean a government with 563 seats of a possible 650 MPs in the House of Commons (with 326 seats needed for a majority).But there's a reason why these grand coalitions are traditionally strongly resisted by party members - the UK's two largest parties are defined (and, more importantly, their supporters define themselves) by their opposition to one another. Coming together to form a government in peacetime would effectively tell the electorate that the differences between the two are (largely) cosmetic and there are more similarities imn their policies than fundamental points of difference.That's a big problem. 1. India in <keyword id="22501" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="New-Zealand">New Zealand</keyword> 2009 (ODIs 3-1, Tests 1-0) 
 
India had found <a href="http://www.gocricket.com/teams/new-zealand/6001/home">New Zealand</a> a tough nut to crack in for most part of 80s and 90s. They had last won a Test series in 1967/68 when they won the series 3-1 while they had never won an ODI series in the country. On their previous tour in 2002, India were hammered 2-0 in Tests and 5-2 in the ODIs. However, they corrected the anomaly and secured their first ODI series win in New Zealand by winning the series 3-1. They went one better in the Tests by winning at Hamilton by 10 wickets before drawing in Napier and Wellington to achieve a Test series win after 41 years. 
 
2. India in Pakistan 2004 (ODIs 3-2, Tests 2-1) 
 
The neighbours across the border were proving to be a very difficult opponent on their home turf. Politics ensured that both nations did not play much of each other in the 90s but the ice was broken in 2004 when India embarked on a full tour to <a href="http://www.gocricket.com/teams/pakistan/7001/home">Pakistan</a> after 15 years. They won the first ODI but lost the second and third. India held their nerve to win the fourth ODI and won the fifth to clinch a series for the first time. In the Tests, Virender Sehwag's triple-century helped India win a Test in Pakistan for the first time in 52 years, the first time they started playing each other. After losing in Lahore, they achieved history when they won a series in Pakistan for the first time with victory in Rawalpindi. 
 
3. <keyword id="6355478" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Australia">Australia</keyword> in India 2004 (Tests 2-1) 
 
<a href="http://www.gocricket.com/teams/australia/1001/home">Australia</a> had always struggled on the turning tracks of the sub-continent. They had last won a series in India in 1969 but it had come amidst a lot of unrest off the field in India. Australia were confounded by some brilliant individual moments in the course of their travels to India. In 1986, they played out the second ever tied Test in Chennai while <keyword id="6363956" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="VVS-Laxman">VVS Laxman</keyword> and <keyword id="2727" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Rahul-Dravid">Rahul Dravid</keyword> stole the show in a spectacular partnership at Eden Gardens in 2001 to secure one of the great wins. In 2004, Australia went all out and conquered the final frontier after 35 years with wins in Bangalore and Nagpur as they clinched the series. 
 
4. England in India 2012 (Tests 2-1) 
 Much like Australia, England had their heads in a spin when touring the subcontinent. They had struggled to cope with spin on Indian dustbowls and after their victory in 1984, they had gone without a victory in Tests. All that changed in 2012. After suffering a heavy loss in Ahmedabad, they turned the tables on a rank turner in Mumbai as they won the match by 10 wickets. They put in a fantastic show in <keyword id="6354925" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kolkata">Kolkata</keyword> to secure their first series win in India after a gap of 28 years. A whole generation of England supporters had waited for this moment. 
 
5. India winning a Test in Australia (Tests 1-1) 
 Australia had been the most difficult place to tour for any side. India had their moments in 1977/78 and in 80/81 when they ran Australia close. However, they failed to challenge Australia in the coming years and it seemed that the land 'Down Under' would be insurmountable. However, Rahul Dravid's epic 233 and 72 helped India break the mojo after 22 years as they won the Adelaide match by four wickets. Although they lost at the MCG and failed to push for the win in <keyword id="5629" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Sydney">Sydney</keyword>, the win in Adelaide established the pinnacle of India's overseas wins in the modern era.
