<ul><li>The first earthquake to hit was in the Indian state of <keyword id="46408" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arunachal-Pradesh">Arunachal Pradesh</keyword> at 1:00am.</li><li>Following which three more earthquakes were felt in Nepal.</li><li>The US Geological Survey predicts ‘low likelihood’ of damages and fatalities. </li></ul>The first earthquake was felt in Aalo, Arunachal Pradesh — in north west India at 1:00am. This was followed by three earthquakes in Nepal in the morning measuring up to 5.2 on the Richter Scale. The first 4.8 tremor was felt at 6:14am in Kathmandu, followed by two tremors in Naubise in Dhading at 6:29am and 6:40am. The intensity of the earthquake in India, however, is disputed. The <keyword id="55209" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Meteorological-Department">Indian Meteorological Department</keyword> measured it as 5.8 on the Richter Scale but the US Geological Survey (USGS) <a href="https://twitter.com/USGSBigQuakes/status/1120787800641527808">asserts</a> that the magnitude of the earthquake was actually around 6.1. Regardless of the numbers, USGS <a href="https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us70003axc/executive?utm_medium=social">predicts</a> that there is ‘low likelihood’ of resultant casualties and damages from the quake. Xinhua — China's official state news agency — <a href="http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2019-04/24/c_138004455.htm">reported</a> that the earthquake in India was also felt in Tibet, one of India’s neighbours. Myanmar and Bhutan, two other countries that share a border with Arunachal Pradesh, have reported any such activity. Four earthquakes hit India and Nepal, no casualties

It happened when a Baltimore cop shot an unarmed African American man in April, or when an Indian state banned beef in March this year, and most recently, when a diverse and ultra-opinionated array of Republican candidates went head-to-head in a debate. Now you can see what the whirlwind of conflicting views aired in 140 characters would look like as an abstract work of art - thanks to a set of charts that appear in a new <a href="http://arxiv.org/pdf/1507.05224v1.pdf">study</a>. Researchers at Aalto University in Finland picked 10 hashtags that stemmed from hot-button topics, including India's beef ban (#beefban), the killing of Boris Nemtsov (#nemtsov), Baltimore riots (#baltimoreriots), and an Indiana pizzeria's refusal to cater to gay weddings (#indiana). Additionally, they chose 10 topics that were less likely to snowball into controversies, like the Nepal earthquake (#nepal), SXSW film conference (#sxsw) and the Germanwings crash (#germanwings). Next, the team gathered every single Tweet that had those hashtags to study activity - retweets, comments, follows, and mentions - around those topics. The more divisive an issue, the farther apart the colors. The beef ban, for instance, split opinions more than the Germanwings crash did (see graph above)The graphs confirm that some issues are more likely than others to pull social media users apart. Unsurprisingly, these issues create "<a href="http://arxiv.org/pdf/1507.05224v1.pdf">echo chambers</a>," groups of like-minded people who like to keep to those self-contained communities."News that support their side are more palatable, so people end up ignoring news from the other side," co-author Kiran Garimella tells Tech Insider. He adds that the study measuring controversy on Twitter is only the first step. Horror! Horror! Horror! The earthquake returned to rattle Nepal and parts of India, China and Afghanistan. Tuesday afternoon witnessed a series of movers and shakers, which was far less in losses and causalities than its disastrous prequel 2 weeks back, but it scared the hell out of people.
