Patna, July 1 (IANS) The youth of Bihar are not only fighting at India's borders with China but do so in the field of technology as well. The demand for 'Make in India' apps has increased after the campaign to boycott Chinese apps in the country and the banning of 59 Chinese apps by the Central government. The web browser 'Mag Tapp' made by two Bihar youths is being downloaded in abundance on Google Play Store. Within few months of its arrival on Google Play Store, it has been downloaded over 8 lakh times and has a rating of 4.9 at present. Satyapal Chandra, who is associated with the app, explains that the 'Mag Tapp' is completely 'Made in India'. He said 'Mag Tapp' is a visual browser as well as a document reader, translation and e-learning app. This app has been designed keeping in mind the Hindi-speaking students of the country. "This app is number one worldwide in the education category on Play Store. Recently its version 2 has also been launched. After the ban on Chinese apps, 'Mag Tapp' has been downloaded by nearly 2.5-3 lakh people," Chandra added. Most of the searched for information on the Internet is in English so while reading it, this app can translate any word, sentence or entire paragraph into 12 Indian languages, including Hindi. Like any other app such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, etc, the meaning of a word can be known by tapping on it. Rohan Kumar, who developed 'Mag Tapp', said he has just launched the updated version of 'Mag Tapp 2.0'. Many more features have been added to the update so that it proves to be better than China's UC browser as well as Google's Chrome and Opera browsers. He claimed the translation feature of the app will now be able to instantly translate matter in 12 Indian languages and 29 foreign languages, including French, German, Italian and Arabic. People in India who know any language, including Hindi, can learn their native as well as other languages of the world directly from their home. Besides, translation of voice-to-voice and picture-to-voice feature has also been provided in the new version. Mag Tapp Technology, the company that makes the 'Mag Tapp' app, is headquartered in Mumbai. The company is also associated with the Government of India's startup scheme. The two founders of the company, Satyapal Chandra and Rohan Singh belong to Gaya and Samastipur, respectively. 'Mag Tapp' is designed by Rohan and his 18-year-old brother Abhishek Singh deals with the technical aspects of the app. Satyapal Chandra moved to Delhi for completing his studies amid scarcity and poverty. He learned to speak and write English after working hard for six months. He then wrote several English novels, including 'The Most Eligible Bachelor' and 'When Heavens Fall Down' which have been quite popular. <ul><li>The most in-demand online trainings include Web Development, Android App Development, Digital Marketing, and programming languages — Python, C/C++. </li><li>Addressing the issue skill-gap, e-learning has grown six folds over the last four years, according to online training platform Internshala. </li><li>The <keyword id="6379645" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Online-Education">online education</keyword> industry is expected to have a user base of 9.6 million by 2021, noted a KPMG report.</li></ul>As unemployability remains a challenge in India, addressing skill-gaps via e-learning is gaining popularity among millennials. Using online training courses as a tool to build digital skills, millennials are turning towards Web Development, Android App Development, Digital Marketing, and programming languages — Python, C/C++ making them the top courses opted by students enrolling in various trainings, according to a report on e-learning trends by online training platform Internshala. E-learning, more broadly, has been helping transform education in India, growing six fold in the last four years. From three in every 1000 students in 2015 to 18 in 2018, students have mentioned at least one e-learning course in their resume. The number of tertiary students enrolling in e-learning has also significantly grown over the years as students seek more skills. Separately, the online education industry in India is reportedly expected to grow to 9.6 million users by 2021 from 1.6 million in 2016, according to a <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/services/education/e-learning-platforms-slowly-changing-indian-education-landscape/articleshow/68850167.cms">KPMG report</a>. The flexibility to learn different skills via digital platforms has attracted young graduates for a blended learning, including one-fourth of the learners from tier-3 cities. Nearly 40% of the total students surveyed took online training to enhance their skill set while 34% enrolled in the programs to land a job/internship. Given that, nearly half (47%) of the total students enrolling in the training programs completed the course. New Delhi, July 8 (IANS) The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Microsoft on Wednesday announced a partnership aimed at providing digital skills to over 1 lakh youth in the country over the next 12 months. Microsoft will collaborate with NSDC's eSkill India portal to provide free access to learning resources and conduct digital skilling awareness drives, equipping the next generation of learners with the skills they need to find employment opportunities in a digital economy. As part of the partnership, Microsoft's learning resource centre, Microsoft Learn will be integrated with the eSkill India digital platform to provide access to personalised learning paths and resources that are in-demand in today's economy and are well-positioned to continue to grow in the future. These learning paths will cover a broad range of skills, from entry-level digital literacy to advanced product-based skilling in critical technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud computing, providing numerous opportunities for people to reskill and upskill, placing roles that are in-demand within reach of job seekers. "The digital transformation of India is driving demand for tech-enabled jobs across every industry and with it the need for digital skills. We are deeply invested in creating a digital skills ecosystem that prepares India's workforce for jobs of the future," Anant Maheshwari, President, Microsoft India, said in a statement. As per industry estimates, India has less than 10% of data scientists available globally. The Union Minister of State for Culture &amp; Tourism (IC) Prahlad Singh Patel launched an <a href="https://pib.gov.in/PressReleseDetail.aspx?PRID=1588630">E-Portal of Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT</a>) — ‘Digital Bharat Digital Sanskriti'. This enable digital classrooms to impart cultural education. It also launched a YouTube channel. The CCRT, along with Routes 2 Roots — an NGO promoting art, culture and heritage — is looking to launch a platform for dropout students. The idea is to help them chase careers in areas like music, painting, theatre and martial arts. “There is a need to identify institutions specializing in providing training in various art forms and encourage the children to join these institutions. In the coming three years, we can send children studying in X – XII standard for well planned tours of North-East,” the government press release said. The e-portal aims to explore unknown aspects of India's lesser-known places and their rural and semi-urban culture. In a bid to promote cross-cultural communication in India, the initiative also aims to encourage students to learn regional languages like Punjabis can learn Gujarati and vice-versa. Patel released a film ‘Rahas’ — Raaslila of Chhattisgarh. The CCRT also started to publish books from a series called ’Untold Tales of India's cities’. Now, dropouts can learn music, dance and other cultural arts — with government aid

<ul><li>Audit multinational E&amp;Y has announced a mobile platform in partnership with <keyword id="8205730" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="tribal-planet">Tribal Planet</keyword> — EY STEM Tribe — that will make STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning more interactive and ‘gamified.’ </li><li>It will be extended extend to over 6,000 girls across 45 schools in Delhi NCR. </li><li>The company also plans to expand its reach to schools in the United States, starting with Seattle and Atlanta. </li><li>The mobile app will offer interview sessions, experiments, videos and articles on STEM education. </li></ul>Now, as many as 6,000 girls in Delhi NCR school will be able to earn points as they learn science and maths. This is a part of the audit multinational Ernst &amp; Young’s initiative to improve the quality and instruction of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), especially to girls. Along with Tribal Planet, E&amp;Y created a mobile platform called EY STEM Tribe. The free mobile app which aims to help girls between 13 -18 years, will make learning fun, interactive and gamified. The app will be provided to 45 schools in Delhi NCR. “Higher secondary classes of Delhi government schools have 57% students as females while only 43% are in the science stream. This situation and stereotypes like boys for science and girls for humanities need to be broken now,” said <keyword id="6354681" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="manish-sisodia">Manish Sisodia</keyword>, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister of Delhi. E&amp;Y plans to expand the reach of the platform to schools in the United States, starting with Seattle and Atlanta. The initiative is a part of EY’s global Women in Technology movement. “We are pleased to launch this global initiative in India, that has the potential to scale rapidly, empowering young girls to learn STEM in a pragmatic and contemporary manner,” said Rajiv Memani, Chairman and Regional Managing Partner, EY India. Earn ‘rewards’ The mobile app will offer interview sessions, experiments, videos and articles on the said subjects. Students can earn points whenever they complete a session or an activity. It will have modules on science, such as climate change, space exploration; technology, such as <keyword id="107950" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="20" keywordseo="artificial-intelligence">artificial intelligence</keyword>, 3D printing or blockchain and the future of work and skills. “As girls build their rewards wallet and see points accumulate, they redeem points in three ways — fun rewards, important rewards and lasting rewards,” E&amp;Y said in a press release. The fun reward will offer STEM-related products while the important reward will extend work shadowing opportunities and virtual sessions on interview skills, CV and workplace ethics. The ‘lasting reward’ will enable the students to donate their points to a cause to boost women empowerment.
