"I announce that the movie will be tax-free in the state," the chief minister said. Praising "Samrat Prithviraj", he said, "The film talks about history and provides entertainment. It can be watched with the family. We have learnt from mistakes of the past and are trying to rectify the mistakes of the past 75 years. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi is moving forward with the vision of the next 25 years to take India ahead." The priest-turned-politician also praised director Dwivedi and actors <keyword id="6381441" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="akshay" source="Orion">Akshay</keyword> Kumar and Manushi for their performance, and said many places of the state have been shown in the film which will help in popularising them. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, in a dig at the Adityanath government, said the state cabinet should also look at the present condition of Uttar Pradesh. "After watching the historical film, the cabinet is requested to also see the present condition of Uttar Pradesh," he said in a tweet in Hindi. He added that the "dough of the past" cannot be used to make rotis in the present. Deputy CM Maurya said earlier, films were made on Mughals, but now films on such great personalities are made. "In the past, there were attempts to hide the truth (of history). But it is necessary to know the past," he asserted. "Samrat Prithviraj", which is all set to release in theatres countrywide on June 3, depicts the life of legendary warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan, played by Akshay Kumar. Chillar stars in the movie as Princess Sanyogita. Akshay had said that the film was based on the life and daredevilry of the "last Hindu Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan who shed every drop of blood in his body to defend Bharatmata". "Our film salutes the courage and valour of the mighty king and we hope that the people of our nation are inspired by his values of protecting his motherland at any cost," the actor had said, according to a press release. On Tuesday, the team held a screening of the film for Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The movie also stars Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood in pivotal roles. A Yash Raj Films production, the movie is scheduled to be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Akshay Kumar's Samrat Prithviraj declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh

<ul><li><keyword id="128026" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Eros-International">Eros International</keyword> and <keyword id="9073081" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="STX-Entertainment">STX Entertainment</keyword> have recently merged to form a new entity, Eros STX Global Corporation.</li><li>The merged entity will have an increased economic scale of more than $600 million in pro forma revenue for calendar 2019 and over $300 million of aggregated future revenue from STX Entertainment films already released last year.</li><li><keyword id="354184" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pradeep-Dwivedi">Pradeep Dwivedi</keyword>, CEO-India, Eros International Media Ltd. and <keyword id="281495" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ali-Hussein">Ali Hussein</keyword>, CEO, ErosNow throw some light on what the merger means and how it will help Eros International grow. They also tell us what's in it for the consumers.</li></ul> Eros International and STX Entertainment have recently merged together to create a ‘pre-eminent global media company which can develop, produce and distribute Bollywood and Hollywood premium content at scale and across many platforms of both the entities’. The combined entity will have the capability to take Eros's and STX's content libraries and pipeline of original content to a broad and growing global audience. The new entity has been named Eros STX Global Corporation. The organization has put together a management team led by <keyword id="190952" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kishore-Lulla">Kishore Lulla</keyword> as Executive Co-Chairman, Robert Simonds as Co-Chairman &amp; Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Warren as Chief Financial Officer, <keyword id="2953806" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rishika-Lulla-Singh">Rishika Lulla Singh</keyword> and Noah Fogelson as Co-Presidents, and <keyword id="8711638" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="prem-parameswaran">Prem Parameswaran</keyword> as Head of Corporate Strategy. In a recent conversation with Pradeep Dwivedi, CEO-India, Eros International Media Ltd. and Ali Hussein, CEO, ErosNow, we tried to decode what this merger will entail, how it will help both the entities grow and how users stand to gain. Edited excerpts: Q) Tell us a bit about the merger of Eros International and STX Entertainment. How will it help you grow your organization? Pradeep Dwivedi: The merger will help to create a pre-eminent global media company which can develop, produce and distribute Bollywood and Hollywood premium content at scale and across many platforms of both the entities. As part of this transaction, $125 million of incremental equity led by TPG, Hony Capital and Liberty Global will help boost our liquidity and maintain a healthy balance sheet. The merged entity will have an increased economic scale of more than $600 million in pro forma revenue for calendar 2019 and over $300 million of aggregated future revenue from STX Entertainment films already released last year. We believe that the combination can yield run-rate revenue and cost synergies of up to $50 million that can be achieved by the calendar year 2022. The main areas for synergy opportunities are around content creation and distribution as well as reducing overhead and our borrowing cost. The deal comes at a time when the entire movie production sector shut in major global markets due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will see STX merging into the NYSE-listed Eros International and creating an enterprise with a $1 billion valuation. We strongly believe that the combined forces of Eros and STX will be beneficial for our shareholders. Q) As a result of the merger, how do Eros's consumers stand to gain? Pradeep Dwivedi: The combined company will have a robust pipeline of feature-length films and episodic content with powerful, well-established positions in the world's fastest-growing global markets. Today, audience is looking for all-inclusive content across languages, formats and genres. This combined business model will, therefore, have the unique capability to present Eros's and STX's robust film and episodic libraries and pipeline of original content to a broad and growing global audience. The OTT platform – Eros Now will benefit from quality assets with STX for Eros Now Prime, which was recently launched and will showcase English content, starting with content from <keyword id="686589" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="NBCUniversal">NBCUniversal</keyword>. In addition, the merger will see developing international distribution in adjacent markets and creating potential global stories that could be best told on an OTT service. The content consumed through multi-year output deals and strategic alliances and the markets leading to Eros Now streaming platform. Q) Are mergers and partnerships like this the future of the OTT ecosystem? Ali Hussein: Eros Now has been on a strong growth trajectory over the last few years and now amassed 187 million registered users, and 26.2 million paid subscribers that come to us from 150 countries. A large part of the growth strategy for Eros Now is to launch sub-brands further like Eros Now Prime and others, and, further deep penetrate India. Also, developing our International presence to become a more glocal player in our adjacent markets. Organic growth and M&amp;A are all options we will consider based on the opportunity to be a relevant digital video brand to consumers in markets around the world. The newly created entity will leverage existing global partnerships with Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, NBCUniversal, Google and YouTube. Q) The combined company expected to generate approximately $50 million in run-rate operating synergies within 24 months of closing. Can you throw some light on this? Pradeep Dwivedi: There are significant synergy opportunities between Eros and STX which focus on content creation, distribution partnership as well as reducing overhead and our borrowing cost. Our emphasis would be on creating relevant content that has a global appeal and establish cross-over content partnerships with India and USA creative talent. This will thus help in substantially driving growth. While from a distribution point of view, the combined business will help in optimizing theatrical financing and create economic opportunities. Also, help in integrating Eros's theatrical release into STX's distribution agreement and help establish a direct theatrical distribution partnership, in addition, to bundle selling STX and Eros's programming to various network and streaming platform. The synergies also further help in enhancing and building their presence in the Chinese market, which is an upcoming entertainment market. The merger will also see co-production and co-financing Chinese as well as globally relevant content besides broadening Eros Now's proposition with western content and driving global subscriber growth. Q) What kind of global exposure will this merger help Eros International gain? Pradeep Dwivedi: There are approximately $50 million of highly actionable operating synergies across the global operations. These synergies can therefore monetize STX content on Eros’s OTT platform. This will be in addition to the recent announcement of Eros Now partnering with NBCUniversal and introducing a new format called Eros Now Prime. Eros Now Prime caters to premium English content programming majorly targeting the South Asian diaspora. Also, the OTT platform will benefit from STX quality assets, develop international distribution in adjacent markets and create potential global stories that could be best told on an OTT service. Furthermore, the merger will see Eros benefitting from STX global network, distribution agreements, partnerships, and STX's China relationship. Q) What kind of content offering can we expect from the new entity in the near future? Will this content be specific to each individual market? Ali Hussein: The merger creates the first truly independent media company that offers the best of Bollywood and Hollywood. STX's content slate caters to the massive and growing English content consumers in India. While Eros through its OTT platform will be offering original shows, short format content - Eros Now Quickie, music, Bollywood and regional language films that have a global appeal. The combined company expected to release close to 40 feature films in 2020 and more than 100 hours of original episodic content. Q) How will this step help fuel growth for Eros overall? What kind of growth expectations do you have for the current financial year? Ali Hussein: Synergies at the group level exist across efficiencies in content production, distribution expertise and penetrate offline audiences in US/India/China and ROW. Also, with the future of video technology and next-generation formats, new and exciting stories will be created that are more global in nature and bind the world with compelling cross border stories. The merger helps in leveraging the core premise of Indian entertainment for Eros Now and diversify into several sub-brands such as Eros Now Prime, Eros Now Quickie and other such formats by the end of FY 21. This will help Eros Now penetrate in India as well as global markets by offering glocal as well as Indian content respectively.

‘Eros International and STX Entertainment together can yield run-rate revenue and cost synergies of up to $50 million by 2022’

Beverages and snacks giant <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=PepsiCo+India+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">PepsiCo India </a>has more women in leadership roles than most of the companies and it is planning to improve the count further. 
 
The company is planning to have at least 40% women among its top deck in India in the near future. Currently, the company has around 23% women at managerial positions and is already leading in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=gender+diversity&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">gender diversity</a>. The company currently has 5 women in its 14-member executive committee. 
 "I think there is enough empirical evidence globally now to show that higher representation of women on boards over a long period of time produce better results. That's what most people are seeking .Getting the numbers is just one part. The second is to create the culture, and the third is to have role models in the company. When women see women in the management team, they aspire to be there," <keyword id="110163" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="PepsiCo-India">PepsiCo India</keyword> CEO <keyword id="416080" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="D-Shivakumar">D Shivakumar</keyword> told ET. 
 "Anyone can provide policies, but providing a culture which fosters and encourages women at work is difficult. For big company initiatives and change agenda, the tone from the top is very important for the rest of the managerial cadre to say that this is the mandate in the company," <keyword id="144341" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shivakumar">Shivakumar</keyword> added.

 <keyword id="54572" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PepsiCo">PepsiCo</keyword> is said to follow a principle that is to hire the best women and have a performance culture in the company. 
 
The company launched a programme in which it identifies senior managers who it sees as a leader in 10-15 years. Except the managerial level, the company is also looking forward to increasing the <keyword id="499855" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gender-diversity">gender diversity</keyword> for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=FMCG+sector.&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">FMCG sector.</a> 
 
"The objective is to familiarize and acquaint graduates and post graduates from tier I, II towns through skill-building workshops on skills required for the workplace, assess them and help them with job opportunities," Suchitra Rajendra told ET. 
 
Around 1,000 students have been covered by the programme so far and the count is expected to go up this year to create an impact on 10,000 women in the country.

PepsiCo India is hiring more women workforce to its top deck

PM Modi has advocated the use of technology for bringing a positive change in people’s lives. 
 Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister said that he was planning to invite ideas from the public for developing a <keyword id="6369871" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Mobile-app">mobile app</keyword> for his office. 
 And today (March 2, 2015) <keyword id="2445183" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="MyGov">MyGov</keyword>, which is the citizen engagement platform of the <keyword id="44734" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Indian-Government">Indian government</keyword>, has announced the launch of a nationwide contest to build a mobile app for the <keyword id="602601" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Prime-Ministers-Office">Prime Minister’s Office</keyword> (<keyword id="6365387" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="PMO">PMO</keyword>). 
 The contest will invite participation from people across India. In order to select the best ideas to develop the mobile app for the PMO, MyGov has collaborated with none other than the <keyword id="2749117" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="tech-giant-Google">tech giant Google</keyword>. The contest will open up for the public at 5:00 pm on on <a href="https://mygov.in/">MyGov.in</a>. 
 
The contest has been divided into three phases: 
· The first phase will seek ideas from the public on what they would like to see in the mobile app for the PMO 
· The second phase will involve building wireframes 
· The final phase will include short listing, judging and building the app 
 Commenting on the initiative, Rajan Anandan, vice-president and managing director, <keyword id="45395" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Google-India">Google India</keyword> &amp; South-East Asia, said, “We announced about five months ago that we will contribute on the Digital India initiative and the app development contest is a step in that direction.” 
 
“We are very excited to be a part of the Prime Minister’s vision and would urge every Indian to come forward and participate in the app development contest and become a cohesive part of governance and decision making in the country,” added Anandan. 
 Talking about the announcement, <keyword id="933930" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Gaurav-Dwivedi">Gaurav Dwivedi</keyword>, <keyword id="5645" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="CEO">CEO</keyword>, MyGov, said, “We want to provide every citizen access to the PMO through a mobile device. A total of four movies were released on July 18 – <keyword id="1458485" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hate-Story-2">Hate Story 2</keyword>, <keyword id="1812799" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amit-Sahni-Ki-List">Amit Sahni Ki List</keyword>, <keyword id="2364604" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Pizza-3D">Pizza 3D</keyword> and finally, <keyword id="20397" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rajesh-Khanna">Rajesh Khanna</keyword> tribute film <keyword id="1152105" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Riyasat">Riyasat</keyword>, released on his 2nd death anniversary. But those who expected to find a superb <keyword id="2437016" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Thriller-erotica">thriller-erotica</keyword> in <keyword id="2296101" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vishal-Pandya">Vishal Pandya</keyword>’s <keyword id="753788" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hate-Story">Hate Story</keyword> 2 could be disappointed – neither the sizzle, nor the thrill matched the earlier Hate Story (a 2012 film directed by <keyword id="30014" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Vivek-Agnihotri">Vivek Agnihotri</keyword> and starring <keyword id="455333" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Paoli-Dam">Paoli Dam</keyword>, Gulshan Devaiah and <keyword id="8255" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Nikhil-Dwivedi">Nikhil Dwivedi</keyword>). In spite of some spirited acting by <keyword id="22533" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Surveen-Chawla">Surveen Chawla</keyword> and <keyword id="21678" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="sushant-singh">Sushant Singh</keyword>, the current movie turned out to be a mediocre <keyword id="1321184" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="revenge-drama">revenge drama</keyword> with lots of skin show, but still managed to do amazingly well at the <keyword id="827271" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Box-Office">domestic box office</keyword>. Produced by <keyword id="24468" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bhushan-Kumar">Bhushan Kumar</keyword> and <keyword id="15260" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="vikram-bhatt">Vikram Bhatt</keyword>, Hate Story 2 netted Rs 5.46 crore on the opening Friday (trade figure stood at Rs 4.61 crore) and went on to collect Rs 15.85 crore nett in the first three days (trade figure was Rs 14.30 crore). But there was the usual Monday drop and the movie collected around Rs 2.68 crore on the fourth day (trade figure was Rs 2.11 crore), thus netting a total of Rs 18.53 crore after Day 4. 
 
Hate Story 2 hit 600 screens across the country but thanks to the fantastic business it is doing, the distributors now want it to be released in 1,200 screens pan-India, as per media reports. The opening weekend collections of Hate Story 2 were bigger than some A-list movies, including <keyword id="6377522" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="queen">Queen</keyword>, Highway and Dedh Ishqiya, and the 15th highest in 2014. It had a budget of Rs 14 crore (cost and P&amp;A), which means the flick is making profits. Interestingly, the official trailer of Hate Story 2 crossed over 4 million views on <keyword id="10879" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="YouTube">YouTube</keyword> within four days of its launch, but if you ask us, it’s a total put-off in many ways in spite of earning more than the other three releases. 
 
In stark contrast, Vir Das-Vega Tamotia-Anindita Nayar-starrer <keyword id="2336494" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amit-Sahni">Amit Sahni</keyword> Ki List turns out to be a refreshing <keyword id="1636016" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="rom-com">rom-com</keyword> with loads of laughter and some pertinent points about relationships. But <keyword id="664154" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ajay-Bhuyan">Ajay Bhuyan</keyword>’s directorial endeavour failed to win hearts, netting a little over Rs 3.1 crore at home after the first Monday. Pizza 3D, a remake of the 2012 Tamil <keyword id="828468" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Supernatural">supernatural</keyword> thriller, came loaded with terror bytes but earned around Rs 2.87 crore nett in the first three days. Incidentally, the Tamil version of this movie was a sleeper hit. 
 
 
 
However, the worst is Ashok Tyagi-directed Riyasat, yet another version of Mario Puzo’s Godfather and <keyword id="1076" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="superstar">superstar</keyword> Rajesh Khanna’s (<keyword id="4753" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Saheb">Saheb</keyword>) last outing. First day collections stood at a paltry Rs 36 lakh and the rest of the numbers are yet to come in. But industry insiders expect it to be a box office bomb and Khanna’s listless presence is not likely to help it. Although Aryan Vaid (Shakti), the elder son and heir, and <keyword id="15984" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aryeman-Ramsay">Aryeman Ramsay</keyword> (his younger son <keyword id="3037" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Vijay">Vijay</keyword>) performed well, India’s first-ever superstar was completely off-colour and looked totally under the weather – hardly a fitting tribute to an <keyword id="271" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="actor">actor</keyword> of his stature. 
 
Critically speaking, Amit Sahni Ki List still tops the list in spite of the box office debacle and the shoddy treatment of an intriguing script. Here we meet Amit Sahni (<keyword id="671" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vir-das">Vir Das</keyword>), an <keyword id="140092" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="investment-banker">investment banker</keyword> trying to find the perfect relationship and not get hurt in the process. His serio-comic vulnerability reminds one of the young gang from Dil Chahta Hai and the carefully made check list of partner’s qualities once again makes us realise life does not follow a perfect script in spite of all our efforts. But the movie loses pace in-between, loses coherence and a drab ending ultimately mars the freshness.

For the first time, the grand event is being digitized on such a large scale, leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and social media platforms to enhance management and security. "Around 2700 CCTV cameras are being installed in the district and the whole fair area. This will help us in crowd management... Cameras with AI features have also been installed in the area. These cameras will automatically send us alerts based on their feed. This step would be in addition to human intelligence. AI is adding to the information of human intelligence. We have already installed 25 police stations in the area and a total of 56 stations will be placed,” said Rajesh Dwivedi, SSP, Mahakumbh Mela. AI-powered cameras are being installed throughout the Kumbh site to monitor the massive crowd and ensure 24/7 surveillance. These state-of-the-art cameras will not only bolster security but also assist in reuniting individuals who may get separated during the event. In addition, popular social media platforms like Facebook and X will provide immediate assistance in locating lost relatives, streamlining the process of reuniting families amidst the sea of pilgrims. This time, visitors from across the country and abroad attending the Mahakumbh 2025 won't have to worry about losing their loved ones in the crowd. The Mela administration has devised an extensive plan to address this concern. A digital 'khoya paaya kendra' (lost-and-found centre) will go live on December 1, utilizing advanced technology to reunite separated individuals quickly and efficiently. The entire fair area is being equipped with 328 AI-enabled cameras, which have already been tested at four key locations. These cameras will monitor the crowd 24/7 and assist in locating lost individuals. Under the directives of the Yogi government, the large-scale installation of these cameras is in its final stages. The digital lost-and-found centres will immediately register every missing person's details digitally. Once registered, the AI-powered cameras will begin searching for the individual. Additionally, information about missing persons will be shared on social media platforms like Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), making it easier to locate them quickly. Face recognition technology will be used at the Maha Kumbh to identify individuals who get separated from their loved ones. This advanced system will work instantly, capturing photographs and identifying individuals among the estimated 45 crore attendees. Business Insider verified his employment at Goldman Sachs with documentation. The following has been edited for length and clarity.I joined <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/goldman-sachs-new-logo-and-website-before-and-after-2024-7">Goldman Sachs</a> as an intern in 2011, and in 2012 I got a full-time job as an analyst working in their Bengaluru office.I spent close to 12 years at the company. It's where I met my wife, who joined the company after me. We had two children in 2018 and 2023.In 2023, I resigned from my job and became a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/quit-job-real-estate-investing-house-hacking-heloc-2024-7">stay-at-home dad</a>. I enjoyed a great career, but now I want to focus on my family and take the mental load of housework off of my wife — I think other men should be open to doing the same.<h2 id="6b9312f4-c7cf-4918-a427-783ebf2219b4">I loved my experience at Goldman Sachs. My family and career grew while I worked there.</h2>I joined Goldman Sachs full-time in 2012, working on the equity research team. Working at a preeminent financial institution like Goldman is a dream job. I was earning a good salary and felt like I'd gotten somewhere in life.I had a great experience at Goldman. There was a flat hierarchy where junior employees could contribute at the highest level. I loved working in different locations, and I always felt like I was growing.My long tenure is a testament to how much I enjoyed working there — it's the only job I've had.I met my wife when she joined the company in 2014. We started dating and got married in 2017. Later that year, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/moved-family-to-florida-for-husbands-job-regrets-divorce-2024-7">we both relocated</a> to the Hong Kong Goldman office.We had our son in December 2018, and in January, we were both <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/strategies-manage-career-get-promoted-from-amazon-vp-2024-6">promoted</a>: my wife from analyst to associate and myself from associate to executive director. It was a great period; our family and careers were expanding.<h2 id="5707897b-bff6-4311-ab08-ad9769c75959">The pandemic made us rethink our parenting arrangements and I eventually decided to quit my job</h2>Our son was a top priority, but we were both working hard and near the start of our careers in Hong Kong.My wife went back to work after maternity leave, and we hired a full-time helper to look after our son. We tried to finish work by 6 or 7 p.m. and drop home for lunch whenever we could.When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, our son was just over a year old. We got to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/wfh-fears-impacting-kids-parenting-remote-work-2024-7">work from home</a> and spend more time with him, but still had our helper around most of the time. Seeing our son experience our presence made us realize that with our second child, we wanted at least one parent to always be around.Mothers typically take career breaks to be with their kids, but we had similar careers, and I was open to taking a break instead.When our second child was born in February 2023, my wife had moved to a different company. Goldman <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/goldman-sachs-paid-parental-leave-policy-longest-on-wall-street-2019-11">introduced 20 weeks off</a> for parents irrespective of gender, and we both took parental leave.It reinforced our decision that I should leave my job.We'd been in Hong Kong for nearly six years, but we didn't want to build our lives there. The plan was for me to quit, and we'd move to Delhi, where my wife's family lives.My wife's firm was flexible, allowing her to work from home in Delhi and be around the kids. Meanwhile, I wanted to fully devote my time to family rather than juggling a job and parenting.Working parents claim our jobs are just a salary, but in reality, we tie our identities to them and center our days around them.We spend eight to 10 hours a day at work. We may have a couple of hours with our kids at home, but they aren't the center of our calendars, even if they are the center of our lives.I wanted to change that, so I handed in my resignation in November 2023 and left the company in February 2024.We were both earning six figures in USD at our jobs and had enough saved that finances wouldn't be an issue after I quit, especially living in India, where the cost of living is lower than Hong Kong. We now fund our lifestyles through my wife's income and the returns from our joint savings.I'm very privileged to be able to leave my job. I got to build a financial cushion and experience a great career.<h2 id="a98db903-eb0f-4406-b466-3425ea791b3c">I've tried to take on more responsibilities at home and relieve my wife of them</h2>I've tried to take on as many childcare responsibilities as I can. Now, I drop off and pick up my son and care for our younger child while my wife is at work. We split tasks like bath times and putting the kids to bed 50/50, but I've taken more ownership of other chores.It's great not having to look at my calendar for anything my wife and kids need me for.We still have a helper who cooks, but childcare is handled completely by my wife and me.My wife has always been the captain of the household tasks. Since I don't instinctively know what needs to be done, she delegates tasks to me. I want to help take the mental load off of her.She's still in charge of the kitchen, giving instructions to our helper and cooking occasionally herself. I'm not into cooking, but I want to learn.I'm now probably busier during the day than I was at Goldman. I also have side ventures like angel investing and writing, which help me stay intellectually stimulated. They only take up a couple of hours when my family is asleep.I want to keep anchoring my life around my family, but once my daughter starts school, I'll need to fill up my time. It's more likely that I'll work on a passion project rather than a corporate job again unless circumstances require me to have another job.<h2 id="0f5dba9a-b62f-4303-81a3-36e679cc68d9">Stay-at-home dads are still a rarity, and I think that needs to change</h2>I'm proud of being a stay-at-home dad, but in a society like India, it's still conventional for the man to be the breadwinner. I've kept the news about what I'm doing now on a need-to-know basis.Even outside India, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/hiring-slump-professional-white-collar-jobs-women-winning-2024-5">fewer women occupy senior positions</a> at work. We live in a world that recognizes gender inequalities more than ever before, but there's still so much more room to change things.A lot of women take career breaks to prioritize their kids, which enables the men to work. <ul class="summary-list"><li>The US accounts for 25% of global aircraft emissions.</li><li>Sustainable aviation fuel can be up to 80% less carbon intensive than conventional jet fuel.</li></ul>Of all global aircraft emissions, the US accounts for 25%. There's a goal to reduce that to zero by 2050, but it won't be easy. Aviation is one of the most challenging industries to decarbonize. The batteries we're using to electrify cars are generally too heavy for planes, and hydrogen-powered aircraft are many years off, at least from a commercial point of view. "The aviation sector does not have many options in terms of what it can do," Puneet Dwivedi, a professor at the University of Georgia who has been studying sustainable aviation fuel production, told Insider. "There's a 2,000-pound — 20,000 pounds! — gorilla in the room, and it's fuel. You have to sort out fuel." Sustainable aviation fuel, or SAF, is similar to conventional jet fuel, but it's much less carbon-intensive during its full lifecycle. From production to combustion, it releases up to 80% less carbon dioxide than conventional jet fuel, according to <a href="https://www.iata.org/en/programs/environment/sustainable-aviation-fuels/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">data</a> from the International Air Transport Association. Thanks to its similar physics and chemistry to conventional jet fuel, SAF is a "drop-in" fuel that can be mixed with other fuel and, for the most part, be stored in the same tanks and run in the same engines. It's so easy to swap in, that some industry experts have called it a "<a href="https://qz.com/delta-thinks-airline-carbon-emissions-could-peak-by-202-1849784433" target="_blank" rel="noopener">miracle drug</a>." Problem is, there's not enough. Current US production of sustainable aviation fuel is around 4.5 million gallons per year, according to <a href="https://rhg.com/research/sustainable-aviation-fuels/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent research</a> by the Rhodium Group. The White House wants to up production to 3 billion gallons by 2030, in order to fully decarbonize aviation by 2050, but that's still not enough to replace the 4 billion gallons of fuel that were consumed in the US in 2022. "There are many refineries that can produce jet fuel from fossil fuel," Chris Cooper, US president of Neste, one of the main producers of SAF globally, told Insider. "There are very few that have seen the vision" of converting to SAF production. SAF is mostly made from chemicals called hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids, usually in the form of vegetable oils and used cooking oil. But, as much as Americans like their french fries and donuts, there's still not enough used oil. Luckily, SAF can be made from a lot of other things: trash, wood, carbon dioxide, to name a few. Dwivedi, at the University of Georgia, for example, is working with a process that would turn a mildly poisonous grass called carinata that can be grown in the US into SAF. As more refineries get equipped to produce SAF, and more methods of production get approved, the goal of 3 billion gallons by 2030 is, according to experts, doable. Despite being potentially "miraculous," SAF won't be an overnight switch. It needs to be phased in incrementally. "There's a certain portion of the population that just wants to wait until they have a zero emissions aircraft," Carol Sim, assistant director for the Aviation Sustainability Center, told Insider. "That's not gonna be flying for many, many years to come. But we have this opportunity to have emission reductions before those vehicles are introduced. Because SAF is approved now, it's been used, it's accepted by airlines, it's accepted by the aircraft manufacturers, airports, the governments, globally, it is the immediate thing that we can do to reduce emissions."
