India successfully carried out the final trial of <keyword id="1636608" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="anti-tank-guided-missile">anti-tank guided missile</keyword> -- Nag -- on Thursday. The missile will be inducted soon in the India Army. In 2008, Ministry of Defence approved procurement of 300 Nag missiles and 25 missile carriers for Army. The test was carried out at 6.45 a.m. at the Pokhran field firing ranges in Rajasthan, Defence Research and Development Organisation (<keyword id="6355142" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="DRDO">DRDO</keyword>) said. The missile was integrated with the actual warhead and a tank target was kept at designated range. This was launched from <keyword id="794819" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nag-missile">Nag Missile</keyword> Carrier NAMICA. The missile hit the target accurately defeating the armour. Anti-tank guided missile has been developed by DRDO to engage highly fortified enemy tanks in day and night conditions. The missile has "Fire &amp; Forget" "Top Attack" capabilities with passive homing guidance to defeat all main battle tanks equipped with composite and reactive armour. The NAG missile carrier NAMICA is an Infantry Combat Vehicle BMP2 II based system with amphibious capability. With this final user trial, NAG will enter into production phase. The missile will be produced by Defence PSU Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), whereas Ordinance Factory Medak will produce the NAMICA. Defence Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and Indian Army for the successful trial of NAG Missile. Chairman DRDO, G. Satheesh Reddy appreciated the efforts of DRDO, Indian Army and Industry in bringing the missile up to the production phase. India's anti-tank guided missile NAG completes final test — will soon be inducted into the Indian Army

<ul><li><keyword id="6354416" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword> has placed fresh orders for Spike which is an <keyword id="2702702" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anti-tank-missile">anti-tank missile</keyword>, from Israel using its emergency purchase powers. </li><li>The procurement was discussed at the annual Army Commanders meeting in April and the orders have been placed this month. </li><li>The missiles come with a 4 kilometer range and can be fired from various platforms. </li><li>DRDO successfully tested indigenous Nag anti-tank missiles in July. </li></ul> Indian Army’s fire power is set to get turbocharged as it placed orders for Israel’s anti-tank <keyword id="1934550" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Spike-Missiles">Spike missiles</keyword>. Spike is an advanced missile system which is known as <keyword id="7855587" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Fire-and-forget">fire-and-forget</keyword> guided missile, developed by the country. The Army invoked its power to make emergency purchases for operational preparedness to place this order, reported the <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/defence/indian-army-places-order-for-procuring-spike-missiles/articleshow/70164204.cms">Economic Times</a>. The missiles come with a range of four kilometres and can be deployed in mountainous terrain as well and plains. The missiles are also special as they can be deployed and launched from different platforms including land vehicles, helicopters, ships and ground launchers, as per sources.
