Bajaj said that his company would bring either a feature on its website or an app wherein people who do not want to receive calls can register. The feature is to be called ‘right to be forgotten’. "You will see, in three months' time, on our website and our web app will be an option – you click it – we will never bother you again. You'll have the right to be forgotten by us but then make sure you don't come back to us for our products and solutions," Bajaj said on Wednesday with reference to a question on cross-selling of financial products to existing customers. When the RBI was asked to comment on customer service standards, the central bank said there were rules which apply to telemarketers and recovery agents. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has a Do Not Call registry where customers can register their numbers if they do not wish to be disturbed. However, it does not make the distinction between receiving calls for transactions and calls by telemarketers. “On the calls as far as recovery agents are concerned we have already issued our guidelines and put out a code as to what they have to follow. As a marketing tool, it’s the decision of the individual bank and the TRAI has to look into as there is a do not call registry. How to block spam calls and register DND on Jio, Airtel and Vodafone

<ul><li>The <keyword id="30356" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telecom-Regulatory-Authority-of-India">Telecom Regulatory Authority of India</keyword> (<keyword id="6356988" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="trai">TRAI</keyword>) is proposing the use of <keyword id="6357624" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="blockchain-technology">blockchain technology</keyword> to deter <keyword id="4224518" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="fraudulent-calls">fraudulent calls</keyword>. </li><li>The use of digital ledgers will ensure ‘non-repudiation’ and ‘confidentiality’ according to the Chairman of TRAI. </li><li><keyword id="6355684" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Blockchain">Blockchain</keyword> rules will record all the communication between users and telemarketers. </li></ul>Despite users activating the ‘Do Not Disturb’ (<keyword id="311748" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="DND">DND</keyword>) service on their connections, unsolicited commercial calls seep through. And as a solution to this, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> (TRAI) wants to <a href="http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-blockchain-technology-trai-s-weapon-against-pesky-calls-smses-2620143">use</a> blockchain to keep a check on spam calls. The current issue with tracking spammers is that they’ve been using 10-digit mobile numbers rather than the special numbering series that are specifically allotted for telemarketing. But, if you apply blockchain technology to the same problem then the entire communication between entities would be on record. How? Basically, because of what blockchain does. It’s a digital ledger that’s programmed to virtually record anything that’s deemed of value. So the blockchain-based rules in this situation will record all the communication between users and telemarketers and this includes capturing customer consent for information. Consent, that users can revoke at any time that they deem fit without being answerable to anyone. That being said, how this consent will be attained hasn’t yet been finalised. According to reports, TRAI has various methods as its disposal and is currently deliberating between them. Either way, the draft regulations clearly state that explicit consent is prerequisite for unsolicited commercial communication. Which, again, have to be followed up with regular reviews. All of this is in an attempt to ensure ‘non-repudiation’ and ‘confidentiality’. In its essence, a step towards keeping things on the up-and-up or as transparent as possible. Which makes sense since information will be secured cryptographically and no entity will be able to ‘deny’ their actions or tamper with the data. According to RS Sharma, chairman of TRAI, only authorised entities will have access to subscriber details and only they will be permitted to use them to deliver specified services. The public is welcome to participate and add their two bits with the Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulations 2018 draft which is open for comments till 11 June. After taking suggestions and comments into consideration, TRAI will put the official rules forward by July. Even after that, there will first be a demonstration of the project before official deployment. Over the last six months alone, the amount of fraudulent calls that financially prey on users have <a href="http://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/trai-s-weapon-to-check-spam-communications-blockchain-technology-118052900493_1.html">doubled</a>. The DND registry has been in place since 2010, but hasn’t been very effective in filtering spam calls for its 230 million subscribers.

The telecom authority in India wants to use blockchain to block fraudulent calls

(Photo Source: flickr.com) <ul><li>Apple has agreed to list the Indian telecom regulators’ Do-Not-Disturb app in its <keyword id="115504" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="App-Store">App Store</keyword>.</li><li>The <keyword id="30356" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telecom-Regulatory-Authority-of-India">Telecom Regulatory Authority of India</keyword> (TRAI) had threatened to bar the company from using Indian networks if it's request was not met. </li><li>While Apple may have met TRAI's request on paper, the app is only available on iPhones that are running iOS 12.1.</li></ul>American smartphone manufacturer, Apple, has been facing its fair share of regulatory hurdles in India but is being seen by many as 'giving in' on one front by <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/technology/tech-news-technology/months-after-trai-threat-apple-allows-dnd-app-on-app-store-5473812/">allowing the government's Do-Not-Disturb (DND) app</a> in the App Store. The directive by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) specified that 'all' of company's devices must support the DND app, but in Apple's case, only devices running on iOS 12.1 have that capability. So rather than 'giving in' to the government, the American company has managed to find a middle ground where its concerns of privacy are addressed and the government is placated. What was the fuss about? It's been over a year that TRAI has been threatening foreign smartphone manufacturers that if they wish to continue to operate on Indian telecom networks, their phones have to support the TRAI-DND app. In fact, six months ago it issued an ultimatum for smartphone manufacturers to get on-board, or get barred from Indian networks. While the order was generalised to address 'all access providers', it was more or less a direct warning to Apple because they were the only company yet to comply with the request. Apple may be a 'premium' smartphone manufacturer but its unique selling point (USP) is its interface security, which is deemed to be impenetrable. So when TRAI asked for Apple to list DND app in the App Store, the company had concerns that the app wasn't necessarily as secure as assumed. In fact, the TRAI-DND app asks for access to user SMS and call logs, which Apple rightly claimed goes against its policy to not share user data with third parties. While TRAI's directive was in no way uncertain that 'all' of a company's devices need to be able to support the TRAI-DND app, Apple's support is limited to devices running iOS 12.1 since the only way smartphone manufacturer was apple to bring on the app in the first place was through the <keyword id="6778335" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Spam-reporting">spam reporting</keyword> feature of the iOS 12. All phones running on Android in the country can download the TRAI-DND app, but the efficiency of the app is unproven. Another DND app called <keyword id="1106616" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="TrueCaller">TrueCaller</keyword> is much more popular for spotting spam callers and blocking nuisances.

Apple isn't giving into the Indian government by introducing the DND app — it has found a middle ground

In some relief to daily commuters, the <keyword id="48834" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Allahabad-High-Court">Allahabad High Court</keyword> ordered the Delhi-Noida-Direct(DND) flyway to be toll free. 
 Pronouncing its order on a PIL filed by the <keyword id="2489659" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Federation-of-Noida-Residents-Welfare-Associations">Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations</keyword> (FONRWA), the high court directed the order to be implemented with immediate effect. 
 
The DND flyway connects Delhi on the west bank of the Yamuna with Noida and East Delhi. 
 
The DND flyway witnessed several protests and demonstrations seeking scrapping of the Rs 28 toll following allegations that the operator of the 9.2-km-long stretch (including the Mayur Vihar link) has already made significant profits.

In spite of several bottlenecks, the NHAI has set up impressive targets and aims to develop 20 km/day, in a bid to fast-track the country’s <keyword id="2034194" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Road-network-expansion">road network expansion</keyword>. 
 As of July 2013, <keyword id="6373156" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="National-Highways">national highways</keyword> account for 79,116 km, connecting all major cities and state capitals. Expressways, however, differ a bit in the sense they are controlled-access highways like the <keyword id="610047" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="freeways">freeways</keyword> or <keyword id="1333990" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="motorways">motorways</keyword> or autobahnen in the US and Europe, essentially designed for high-speed traffic.
