Deol family announces new film Apne 2 on Guru Nanak Jayanti

A massive Diwali-Dussehra celebration festival showcasing the best of Indian culture, heritage, and values in an unparalleled manner has attracted a record-breaking crowd of more than 10,000 persons from all walks of life and ethnicities here in <keyword id="15710" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="texas" source="Orion">Texas</keyword>. The 11th Grand International Diwali-Dussehra Festival, depicting the "victory of good over evil", at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, a Greater <keyword id="100821" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="houston" source="Orion">Houston</keyword> suburb, was attended by several dignitaries, including US congressmen, judges, mayors, and commissioners on Saturday. The ceilings and walls of the concourse and field were decorated with traditional banners, flags, hangings, and pictures of several deities. The vendor booths did a brisk business in selling traditional Diwali items, including Diwali diyas, jewellery, fashion clothing, and toys. A "food bazaar" served vegetarian food from every part of <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. This festival had special attractions for children like henna booths, face painting, balloons, moonwalks, merry-go-rounds, a petting zoo, horse buggy rides, clowns, etc. Performances like folk dances, martial arts of India, and kids in costumes of the characters from the scriptures were presented on a two-tiered 60 ft. by 40 ft. stage, with professionally installed stage lights, special effects, and huge LED screens adding a wow factor for the audience. A 24-foot-tall figure of lord Hanuman and a 35-foot-tall figure of Lord Ram was installed next to the stage. A play in English depicting the life of lord Rama and his final battle to overcome evil kept the audience glued to their seats till the end, earning a standing ovation. Arun Verma, president of SSRF, said: "India is a country of festivals and Diwali being the biggest of all festivals, we try to introduce, educate, promote and showcase the rich vibrant culture and moral value to the Indian diaspora and all Americans, while celebrating the 'Victory of Good over Evil' and 'Universal Brotherhood'." "We bring the best of the best and do it on a grand scale. You name it, and we have it over here." The festival is "open to anybody" as it also includes aspects of American culture, according to Verma. "Our belief is that the entire world is one big family and we need to treat everybody like a brother and a sister. To demonstrate that, we have invited every one of them," he said. The Sugar Land festival, which Verma said is the biggest of its kind in Texas, combines the two Hindu holidays of Diwali and Dussehra. With veg food stalls and henna booths, Houston's Dusshera-Diwali festival attracts 10,000 people

He recently said the polluted sky around <keyword id="188" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Diwali">Diwali</keyword> gave him a horrible sense of deja vu. 
 
Sharma tweeted - "Five years ago when I was in Beijing, I couldn't see a stadium 500-700 metres away. I told my friend it was horrid, but today morning the same thing happened with me in Delhi's Chankayapuri.” 
 
“It was depressing driving in Delhi,” he said. 
 
He was seen batting for entrepreneurs looking for clean air solutions. "I will invest in startups and am going to solely focus on these kinds of companies and not just for commercial gains," said Mr Sharma, who has invested in several companies, the recent being ‘Unacademy’. 
 
He cautioned that the speed and pace at which pollution in India is growing will be dangerous for future generations.

Worried over rising pollution, Paytm's Vijay Shekhar Sharma ready to invest in startups on clean air solutions

The world is becoming more conscious of the environmental pollution due to different kinds of human activity. Amidst the growing efforts in every sector to move towards eco-friendly alternatives, <keyword id="810932" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Eco-friendly-crackers">eco-friendly crackers</keyword> mark a new way of celebrating Diwali with less impact on the environment. <keyword id="6123753" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="green-crackers">Green crackers</keyword> as they are called, eco-friendly <keyword id="32601" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Crackers">crackers</keyword> are a new initiative by the Indian Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). These crackers feature different formulations than the present crackers and fireworks you will see around in the market. The goal of developing green crackers is to reduce pollution and minimize the health risks. What are green crackers? The regular firecrackers pose high degree of pollution and health risks. The green crackers or eco-friendly crackers are manufactured from alternative raw materials to leave lesser impact on the environment and pose lesser health risks. News about green crackers In a recent press meet held on October 5, 2019 in New Delhi, the Health and Family Welfare Minister Harsh Vardhan explained about the green crackers and showed some recently developed green crackers to the media persons like flower pots, pencils, sparklers and chakkar. Talking on the green crackers, the minister said the environmental friendly crackers will help maintain the vibrant tradition of celebrations besides also providing livelihood to millions of homes that are solely dependent on the manufacture and sale of fireworks. In a tweet, the minister said, “These will reduce the dust &amp; smoke associated with crackers by 30% and also reduce sulfur oxide &amp; nitrous oxide emissions by 20%”. Manufacture of green crackers The manufacture of green crackers has started in India already and thee eco-friendly crackers and fireworks are right now available for sellers and consumers in India in the market. The new formulations for the making of green crackers have been developed based on the suggestions received from the Supreme Court. Following the moves by the Supreme Court, so far about 230 MoUs and 165 non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) have been signed with the companies that manufacture fireworks. The green crackers have been developed as a result of the initiatives by the CSIR based on the new formulations for emitting lesser pollutants and sound. Since these crackers and fireworks make use of Potassium Nitrate as an oxidant, there will be about 30 percent reduction in the amount of particulate matter emitted. The prices of green crackers are lesser than or at least equal to the prices of the regular crackers. As per the instructions by the government, the green crackers manufacturers are printing a green logo developed by the government and a quick response (QR) code on the crackers and packets in order to help distinguish them from the regular ones. Why green crackers have been developed? On grounds of increasing pollution levels due to the firing of crackers, in October 2018, the Supreme Court had banned the manufacture, sale and use of crackers that are not environment friendly. The apex court had also announced some restrictions on the time of bursting the crackers during the <keyword id="3405" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Diwali-celebrations">Diwali celebrations</keyword>. During last year, the territory of Delhi faced very poor levels of air quality following Diwali due to the emissions from crackers and fireworks. As per the Supreme Court orders, the green crackers are not loud enough beyond a particular limit. It is mandatory for the green crackers to be free of harmful ingredients like arsenic, mercury and barium. The manufacturers must obtain clearance for the green crackers from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO). The CSIR got some samples of newly developed green crackers approved by the PESO and so the Supreme Court has permitted the bulk manufacturing of green crackers from May 2019. There is no better way of celebrating this Diwali then by buying green crackers you can find easily in the market.

Earlier, Swamy spoke to Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal. Pointing this out to Modi, Swamy added that Pokhriyal was "sympathetic" to his suggestion to put it off beyond Diwali. However, it needs the Prime Minister's "concurrence", he wrote. Earlier, Swamy tweeted on the Supreme Court order on the matter, saying that the apex court had "left the date (for the exam) to the government" to decide. On Monday, the Supreme Court had rejected a plea for the postponement of the two entrance tests due to the coronavirus outbreak. The court said that life has to go on despite the virus outbreak and that it could not put the careers of students in jeopardy by interfering in National Testing Agency's decision to hold these in September. However, it was also a year full of controversies. Many brands landed themselves in trouble and numerous campaigns had to be pulled off. It is not too difficult today for a small tweet to snowball into a boycott trend, something that is every marketers’ and agency’s nightmare. At the same time, when brands have a presence on social media, they start having an opinion or a voice. If brands err on the side of caution, they are simply selling products to consumers and not engaging with them on a personal level. There will always be users who support the brand for standing up and fighting for causes they believe in but there will also be those who would oppose them at the slightest disagreement. GenZ is also becoming increasingly aware of how advertising works and is able to separate grey from black. They view brands as a form of self-expression and to connect with them, brands are also expected to go beyond just selling their products. They are known to connect with brands that they feel are socially and environmentally conscious. So, while many experts advise brands to steer clear of religious topics or make any political statements, there’s also pressure on brands and companies to take firm stands on issues that matter to these young consumers. As brands try to find the balance between making the right statement and offending a majority in the coming year, here are a few brands who found themselves in troubled waters this year: Manyavar Bridal wear brand Mohey had released a commercial that aimed to offer a fresh perspective to the Hindu wedding ritual 'Kanyadaan.' With its campaign featuring Alia Bhatt, Mohey promoted women empowerment and gave a more gender-sensitive touch to the age-old tradition of ‘Kanyandaan’ in Hindu weddings and insisted on bringing in ‘Kanyamaan’ instead. “Through the film, Mohey’s brand ambassador Alia Bhatt questions the conventional beliefs that require a daughter to conform to being ‘given away’ at her wedding. She makes a choice on her wedding day to rethink rituals, stating what Kanyadaan means in modern times, making it more equal and progressive for her present and future generations,” explained its press release. However, this campaign did not sit well with Twitter users. It flared up a controversy on social media and the hashtag #BoycottManyavar started trending on Twitter. Twitterati alleged that the campaign purposely tried to hurt religious sentiments by associating the name ‘Jashn-e-Riwaaz’ with Diwali, a Hindu festival. They even had a problem with women not wearing their badges of being married such as bindis, bangles and sindoor. Tejasvi Surya, MP and National President of the BJP Yuva Morcha had tweeted, “Deepavali is not Jash-e-Riwaaz. This deliberate attempt of abrahamisation of Hindu festivals, depicting models without traditional Hindu attires, must be called out. Brands like Fabindia must face economic costs for such deliberate misadventures.” Soon after that tweet, FabIndia deleted its post across social media and renamed its collection to ‘Jilmil-si-Diwali.’ Sabyasachi The designer brand was trolled heavily for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by promoting their ‘Royal Bengal Mangalsutra,’ which is a part of their Intimate Fine Jewellery line. The ace designer behind it, <keyword id="7202" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sabyasachi-mukherjee" source="Orion">Sabyasachi Mukherjee</keyword>, decided to withdraw the campaign after it triggered an avalanche of online trolling for hurting religious sentiments. On Thursday, taxpayers faced a slow functioning of the GST portal, which was the last date for filing monthly GST returns for some taxpayers. Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s final lady love <keyword id="650554" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hazel-Keech">Hazel Keech</keyword> - who he got hitched with in a private ceremony in Bali on Wednesday evening on the occasion of Diwali – may not be as famous as the Bollywood actresses he has been linked with like Kim Sharma and Deepika Padukone, but she is still a well-known face in the Bollywood circle. 
 Born in Essex to a British father and Mauritian mother, 28-year-old Hazel shot into the limelight when Bollywood actor <keyword id="6354583" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Salman-Khan">Salman Khan</keyword>, famous for launching young actresses in the film industry via his films, offered Hazel a role in his movie Bodyguard. 
 
Before that, she debuted with an item number in a Tamil film Billa, however, it failed to get her any attractive film projects. She also appeared in a music video “Kahin pe Nigahein, Kahin pe nishana” which was comparatively famous among all her other works. 
 It was Salman who gave her the first break in Bollywood in a supporting role alongside <keyword id="2165" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kareena-Kapoor">Kareena Kapoor</keyword> in Bodyguard. Then, for some reason, Hazel disappeared from the scene only to make a comeback in a very hot item number - Aa ante amlapuram in Kabir Kaushik's Maximum with Naseeruddin Shah and Sonu Sood. She also appeared on 'Bigg Boss 7', but failed to get noticed as she was voted out in the first week itself. 
 
After her eviction from the highest TRP reality show, she has now made a comeback as Yuvi’s fiancée. Sources said the duo have known each other for more than three years now, but they started dating only three months back. Things started materializing only after Yuvi’s mother Shabnam met Hazel’s parents in England last month and everyone approved of their relationship. 
 
The duo then went straight to seek the blessings from Yuvi’s Guruji Baba Ram Singh Ghanduan wale near Daphera village in Fategarh Sahib. If reports are to be believed they are likely to tie the knot at the Hansaliwale Gurdwara in Fatehgarh Sahib early next year.

The mega IPO of Life Insurance Corporation of India (<keyword id="6367143" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lic" source="Orion">LIC</keyword>) will be out by the end of the current fiscal, a senior Central government official said on Monday. According to Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Secretary, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), the IPO plan is on course. "Some media speculation doubting the feasibility of <keyword id="7922409" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lic-ipo" source="Orion">LIC IPO</keyword> this fiscal year is not correct. It is reiterated that plan is on course for the IPO in the last quarter of this fiscal," the Secretary tweeted. The IPO is expected to become the biggest one in India and it may fetch the government around Rs 1 lakh crore. Post the Union Budget FY22, the government has taken several legislative and executive steps to pave way for the mega IPO. The LIC, a statutory Corporation constituted under the LIC Act 1956, is a leading life insurer of India wholly owned by the government. It has three branches outside India - in the UK, Fiji and Mauritius, a wholly-owned subsidiary in Singapore and Joint Ventures in Bahrain, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, and Bangladesh. Amidst hectic parleys in the corridors of power, Emirates, owned by the government in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has ruled out the possibility of a bid for Air India. "We are not looking at it. We are more focussed on seeing how we can grow better organically," Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, the Vice President of India and Nepal, said in a conversation with Business Insider. There are heated debates underway in many forums on whether Air India should be fully privatised. Should the buyer for the national carrier should be Indian or foreign? A few sections of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government seem keen to find the best possible price for the ailing Air India, but the BJP's ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has a clear stand against selling the airline to a foreign peer.  Cashing out of Air India is important for the Narendra Modi government looking to <a href="https://www.livemint.com/companies/news/how-air-india-sale-can-spur-govt-s-divestment-agenda-1562613367526.html">garner enough money to invest in</a> more productive ventures that may speed up the economic growth, which recently hit a six-year low of 5% between April and June 2019. The fact that the debt-ridden airline-- ₹55 000 crore at last count-- <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/industry/air-india-losses-to-end-maharaja-may-break-even-this-year-after-a-decade-disinvestment-may-get-easier/1693527/">may reportedly clock a profit</a>, for the first time in a decade, may have helped the sale after many failed attempts in the past. However, the sale of Air India has been a political and an emotional issue, which the Emirates has steered clear of. Emirates code-share agreement with SpiceJet Meanwhile, Ahamad is excited about the code share agreement with SpiceJet, a budget airline based in India. "We will gain six new destinations in India," he said adding that the process is in its final stages. "The two tech platforms have to talk to each other and that is taking a little time," he said. The roll-out is likely by Diwali (late October) this year. The two airlines <a href="https://www.emirates.com/media-centre/emirates-to-expand-reach-in-india-with-spicejet-codeshare-partnership#targetText=Monday%2C%20April%2022%2C%202019%20%E2%80%94,Europe%20and%20the%20Middle%20East.">reached an agreement in April this year </a>to ride on each other's strengths. With a 15% market share, Emirates is already the biggest player in international flights flying to and from India and now, it wants more. SpiceJet is a popular carrier especially in the southern part of India which has frequent fliers to the Gulf countries. Emirates' expansion in India will depend on the review of bilateral agreement between India and UAE The entry of Singapore Air-backed Vistara into international routes, particularly in the Middle East, is a challenge to the likes of Emirates. However, there is a likelihood of expansion for Emirates in India if the two countries decide to revisit the bilateral agreements. "The last one was signed in 2014. There is no specific timeline for a review," he said. The grounding of Jet Airways has been a shot in the arm for airlines in tightly fought market like India. The average number of annual passengers in India is expected to treble to 520 million by 2037, and at that point, it would be the third largest aviation market in the world. Thus, don’t be surprised if during this sale week, you spot people walking on a busy road looking at their phones probably sorting through the heaps of products on discount irrespective of the fact that they’re about to walk right into a tree or people who refuse to eat, drink or take a shower until their shopping cart is as full as someone who's just finished eating at a buffet.

What follows is thus- you find something you like at a price you think your wallet likes at a size that hugs your body just right and you ask yourself, is this what heaven looks like? 
 
But, a few minutes later calamity strikes. 
 
And as your eyes are stuck on the checkout page, hoping against hope that this is all but a dream, you receive the saddest message one could ever recieve- 
 
‘Sorry, the page is not responding’ 
 
Dread. Fear. Horror- these wash over you as you realize your worst nightmare has come true. You keep on refreshing the page, but the words still say the same. 
 
But, now you have some new information to digest... 
 
‘The product is out of stock.’ 
 
You’re gutted beyond words. But, you tell yourself that the disappointment called dating men has readied you for this very day. 
 
And, as you dry off your tears that start resembling River Nile, you start browsing once again with your head held high. 
 
Several thoughts run through your head- 
 
“Oh look! This product that I’ll never use is at 70% off. My god, that’s so cheap. We never know. I might someday be in need of it. 
 
*Add to cart*” 
 
“Yeah, I know I’ve been ranting about how Fastrack’s sunglasses are uncool and overpriced, but hey, they’re under 499! I don’t think it’ll hurt if I buy just one of those... 
 
*Add to cart*” 
 
This goes on until you manage to put an enormous number of products that could sustain an entire army in your cart and just as you’re about to checkout to a world of happiness, a very crucial moment (which comes free with two messages) arrives- 
 
Message 1: Delivery for the item(s) is not available in your pin-code. 
 
Message 2: We regret to inform you that your size is not in stock. 
 
You stare at the screen and decide that it’s enough. 
 
“These sales suck”, you tell yourself and log in to Twitter to diss them and rant to the world about how wronged you feel. 
 
And, in that moment, you realise you're not alone. 
 
Your timeline houses umpteen tweets about these websites cheating customers by marking up proices represented through angry words, videos and imagery. 
 
Then you chuckle to yourself – Sale or no sale, your bank balance still wouldn’t have been enough to afford even one-fourth of the items on your wishlist. 
 
“Joke’s on you Flipkart/Amazon/Snapdeal” 
 
And, the rest is history.
