The <keyword id="6355166" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india-meteorological-department" source="Orion">India Meteorological Department</keyword> has forecast heavy to very heavy rains for South Gujarat and Saurashtra region for next three days. Due low pressure development in the Bay of Bengal, these two regions can receive very heavy rains and so a <keyword id="18885" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="RED-ALERT" source="Orion">red alert</keyword> warning has been issued, it said. According to the state Emergency Centre's data, in the last 24 hours as many as 153 talukas of 31 districts received a maximum of 99 mm of <keyword id="13195" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="RAIN" source="Orion">rain</keyword>. Till date, the state has received 660 mm rains which is 77 per cent rainfall of the season. Valsad district's Kaprada taluka received 3115 mm till date -- 109 per cent of the season. From 1992 to 2021, the average rainfall recorded in the taluka is 2846 mm. Valsad district has recorded 2206 mm rainfall till date -- 96.83 per cent of the season, Dangs District has received 1885 mm -- 78 per cent of the season, Navsari district (91 per cent), <keyword id="6359081" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="surat" source="Orion">Surat</keyword> (77.71 per cent), Narmada (116 per cent), Dahod with 39 per cent and <keyword id="5065" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ahmedabad" source="Orion">Ahmedabad</keyword> districts are in the bottom of the list with recording just 53 per cent rainfall of the season. Surprisingly districts like Kutch have received 125 per cent of seasonal rains, Porbandar (95 per cent), <keyword id="2783859" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="devbhumi-dwarka" source="Orion">Devbhumi Dwarka</keyword> (93.33 per cent) and <keyword id="1851126" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="gir-somnath" source="Orion">Gir Somnath</keyword> recorded 92 per cent seasonal rainfall. Red rain alert for South Gujarat, Saurashtra region: IMD

Gandhinagar July 6 (IANS) The Saurashtra part of Gujarat is experiencing very heavy downpour. There is floodlike situation also in the Kutch region. The state has received almost 36 mm of rain in the past 24 hours. The IMD has forecast more rain for the next three days. Khambhaliya Tehsil (Block) in Devbhumi Dwarka district of Saurashtra received 19 inches of rainfall during the last 24 hours, of which at least 12 inches occurred in just 2 hours between 6 to 8 p.m. A low pressure area over Kutch and associated cyclonic circulation has caused huge downpour. It is predicted that it is likely to intensify in the coming days. The downpour has been of such magnitude that parked vehicles were seen totally submerged in waters and the ground floors of houses were completely waterlogged. Around hundred people have been evacuated from low lying areas in Khambhalia. Besides the Khambhaliya, Kalyanpur block in Devbhoomi Dwarka received 14 inches of rain and Dwarka Tehsil received 10 to 11 inches of rains. Ranavav Tehsil in Porbandar district also received around 10 inches of rains, while Visavadar block in Junagadh received 8 inches of rains. With this Devbhumi Dwarka district has received almost 90 per cent of its annual average rainfall of 640 mm. Similarly Porbandar district has so far received 698 mm, that is 71.34 per cent, Junagadh 894 mm, that is 43.79 per cent and Amreli 639 mm, that is 48.54 per cent of the average annual rainfall. According to the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), 26 Talukas has received more than 1 inches of rainfall and 21 Talukas have received more than half inch of rainfall during the last 24 hours in the state. New Delhi, Jan 26 () State-run power giant NTPC is unlikely to conclude its about Rs 10,000-crore acquisition deal to buy government's stake in THDC India and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation, according to a source.
The government was keen to complete the transaction in the ongoing fiscal so as to meet its overall disinvestment target of Rs 1.05 lakh crore for the 2019-20 fiscal. 
NTPC will not be able to complete the transaction of acquiring government stake in THDC India Ltd (THDICL) and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO) this fiscal, the source said adding that the process itself will take couple of months. 
The source further said that NTPC is awaiting evaluation of the deal by SBI Capital. The Department of Disinvestment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) has engaged RBSA Advisors for evaluating NEEPCO and Deloitte for THDCIL transactions.
Earlier in November last year, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) had approved a proposal of the finance ministry for divestment of central government stake in THDCIL and NEEPCO.
The Government of India's shareholding of 74.23 per cent in THDCIL will be divested along with transfer of management control to NTPC.
Similarly, the government's shareholding of 100 per cent in NEEPCO will be divested along with transfer of management control to NTPC.
According to the company's annual report, NEEPCO's net worth as on March 31, 2019 was Rs 6,301.29 crore.
The net worth of THDCIL was Rs 9,280.78 crore as on March 31, 2019.
According to NEEPCO's website, the company operates seven hydro, one solar and three thermal power stations with a combined installed capacity of 1,457 MW.
NEEPCO also has one 600 MW hydro power project under development. It is scheduled for commissioning in 2019-20 fiscal.
THDCIL's total installed power generation capacity is 1,513 MW. It has two hydro power generating stations -- Tehri (4X250 MW) and Koteshwar (4X100 MW) and two operational wind power plants in Gujarat -- one at Patan (25X2 MW) and another at Devbhumi Dwarka (30X2.1 MW). KKS MKJ

New Delhi, Nov 24 () State-run power giant NTPC is likely to raise around Rs 10,000 crore through green bonds for acquisition of the government's stake in THDC India Ltd (THDCIL) and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO), a source said.
 Proceeds from green bonds are used to finance clean and green and environment-friendly infrastructure. Since THDCIL and NEEPCO are hydro-power generators, any investment in these two firms would fall in the category of green bonds.
 "The company is most likely to raise over Rs 10,000 crore via green bonds to acquire government stake in THDCIL and NEEPCO. The acquisition is likely to be before the end of this fiscal as the government intends to achieve its disinvestment target of Rs 1.05 lakh crore," the source told .
 "The company has not started the process to appoint a valuer to fix the value of the central government stake in THDCIL and NEEPCO," the source added.

 The acquisition will be in line with NTPC's objective of having 30 per cent renewables out of 130 GW of total envisaged power generation capacity by 2030. At present, the NTPC Group has around 57 GW of power generation capacity.

NTPC likely to issue green bonds to raise funds for THDCIL, NEEPCO acquisition

New Delhi, Feb 23 () The government is keen to sell its stake in THDC India and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) to state-owned NTPC in the current fiscal, according to a source.The acquisition is expected to fetch around Rs 10,000 crore to the exchequer."The government is keen to complete the transaction whereby the NTPC would acquire government's stake in THDCIL (THDC India Ltd) and NEEPCO this fiscal only for meeting its revised disinvestment target of Rs 65,000 crore for the 2019-20," the source said.The government had earlier proposed to raise Rs 1.05 lakh crore from disinvestment during 2019-20. However, in the budget presented earlier this month, it reduced the divestment target to Rs 65,000 crore.The government has garnered Rs 18,345.06 crore from divestments in public sector undertaking so far, as per DIPAM portal."The government would leave no stone unturned for concluding the deal this fiscal itself. Now it is necessary to meet the disinvestment target."This will not happen first time. Last year also, Power Finance Corporation had concluded the deal to acquire entire government stake in REC Ltd for Rs 14,500 crore on March 28 , 2019," the source said.The transaction had helped the government meet its disinvestment target of Rs 80,000 crore for 2018-19.NTPC had engaged SBI Capital for evaluation of the deal. The move is aimed at easing efforts during natural calamities and emergency situations. The government has prepared a standard design for the road runway. The airstrips will span over 5-6 kilometres on a 60-metre wide concrete road. They will have parking slots for four aircraft, two gates at either ends of the strip and an Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower. The road runways are aimed at reaching out to the affected areas in the fastest possible time in case of natural calamities such as earthquakes or floods when air connectivity is the only viable option.The government plans to remove the hindrance caused by the electric poles, trees and dividers. According to the country’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the landing airstrips will cost about ₹836.6 million. The project will be managed by the Indian Air Force (IAF), India’s Ministry of Defence and its transport ministry.
