Ravichandran <keyword id="20035994" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ashwin" source="keywords">Ashwin</keyword> doesn't like "latching on to people" and that's one reason why he has never warmed up to the idea of banking on <keyword id="20134692" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="coaches" source="keywords">coaches</keyword> in the traditional sense as he believes that such <keyword id="20902120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dependence" source="keywords">dependence</keyword> makes players dogmatic. In his 14-year international <keyword id="19919646" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cricket" source="keywords">cricket</keyword> career, spanning 281 games and 744 wickets across formats, Ashwin's sense of agency and his ability to time and again rediscover himself, have helped him survive the grind. <br /><br /> "A lot of players are heavily dependent on coaches or mentors, or one person which I think is a very dangerous trend because latching on to people and over-dependency can cause you to not be able to open to new ideas," the 37-year-old off-spinner told PTI in a telephonic interview recently. <br /><br /> It is not that Ashwin never had a sounding board. His first state team coach WV Raman, one of the respected names in Indian cricket, and Tamil Nadu legend and former India batter S Badrinath, have been guiding forces for him. <br /><br /> But his equation with them never turned into the kind of dependence that would take away his own ability to search for solutions. <br /><br /> "See very often the challenge of a coach is to be able to offer you several solutions. This is because what works for one (particular player) might not work for the other," he explained. <br /><br /> "One modern-day coaching philosophy which I totally disagree with is the fact that they try to copy-paste the same technique (solution) that's worked for another cricketer," Ashwin, who recently made his debut as an author with 'I Have The Streets: A Kutti Cricket Story', added. <br /><br /> While he is completely aware that some players get results by surrendering to the vision of their coaches, he also feels that such dependence can lead to a closed mind. <br /><br /> "Because as a cricketer, you constantly are thrown up with new challenges, so you must be able to find your own answers," the tweaker, who is behind only the legendary Anil Kumble in the list of India's highest Test wicket-takers, pointed out. <br /><br /> To Ashwin, Raman has been that catalyst, who helped him focus his intuitive mind. <br /><br /> "People can give you a helping hand. But they cannot guide you through in your career, you will have to be open to fresh ideas. <br /><br /> "For me, WV allowed me the freedom to express, and, you know, try new things. He also taught me how and on what path I need to travel, but he never said, 'This is the path you need to travel upon'. <br /><br /> "So in a way, in my early days, guidance from WV ensured that I was never really over-reliant on anybody." <br /><br /> Ashwin said getting a second opinion is never a bad idea but cricket primarily is a self-taught sport. <br /><br /> "If you don't have awareness of your own game and if you can't teach yourself, I think you are always going to be dependent on someone which I think is a very dangerous part. <br /><br /> "I am not saying people with coaches or people who are dependent don't do well in life but there is a chance of selling yourself short," he asserted. <br /><br /> He is gearing up for a big 10-Test season and the Bangladesh series next month will be his first under new head coach <keyword id="19914485" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gautam-Gambhir" source="keywords">Gautam Gambhir</keyword>, someone with whom he has also played a lot. <br /><br /> Ashwin also admires him as one of the "heroes" of Indian cricket. <br /><br /> "Gautam is someone I still share a very, very good relationship with. Because of the fact that he is a very straightforward and an honest guy. <br /><br /> "I think Gautam is also one of those guys that we should always be backing. He's a hero of Indian cricket," he said of the new coach, who took charge in the recent tour of Sri Lanka. <br /><br /> It took me 2-3 years to perfect 'Carrom Ball' <br /><br /> ============================= <br /><br /> The best in the world have struggled to read his signature 'carrom ball' but Ashwin, who first saw Ajantha Mendis bowl it during an age-group camp in Chennai, said that it took him nearly three years before he was satisfied with its execution. <br /><br /> For the uninitiated, a carrom ball is a delivery which turns the other way and is released with a flick of the middle finger. In case of a right hander, it will turn away from the bat. <br /><br /> "I started bowling those balls in the nets 2006 or 2007 onwards, which was probably the second season for me in first-class cricket. <br /><br /> "It took me a good two years before I implemented it in the south zone leg matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (KS Subbaiah Pillai Trophy) in 2008. By 2010, I was probably pretty confident about the pace at which I bowled. <br /><br /> "So, it took about two to three years for me to gain confidence." <br /><br /> Priority should always be playing for India <br /><br /> ============================ <br /><br /> The IPL has changed the lives of young Indian cricketers and has been "tremendous" for country's cricketing ecosystem but Ashwin believes that for an aspiring cricketer, the ultimate goal should forever be playing for the country. <br /><br /> "I am very glad that a lot of young kids are coming now and making a good amount of money. It is changing their livelihood, changing the status of their families. It's unbelievable for India, for the Indian cricketing ecosystem," he said. <br /><br /> "But I still feel there must be some incentive and some motivation for all these kids to want to play for India, and that's absolutely in the hands of the stakeholders and the decision makers."

Over-reliance on coaches can stop players from finding own solutions: Ashwin

New Delhi, June 19 (IANSlife) Ninety two per cent Indians said they have depended on music to get through a difficult phase in their lives while 87 per cent of respondents believe they are more productive while listening to their favourite tunes, says a survey.<br /><br />To mark World Music Day on June 21, HARMAN in partnership with OnePoll conducted the survey interviewing 2,000 participants across India to understand just how important music is in our lives, especially during the prevailing times.<br /><br />The survey shows respondents impacted by music in four key areas:<br /><br />Music improves their mood during the pandemic<br /><br />90 per cent of all respondents said that music has helped them cope with self-isolation, during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.<br /><br />Indians are listening to music for an extra 45 minutes, on an average, per day in the current times.<br /><br />71.7 per cent Indians have created specific 'self-isolation' playlists that include tracks that helps them meditate or have a soothing, calming effect on their mind.<br /><br />84.73 per cent of Indian women and 80 per cent of men say that music is a big stress buster.<br /><br />64 per cent of all surveyed Indians believed that music helps them sleep better, while 71 per cent says it's the best motivator during a workout.<br /><br />And when the chips are down, 79.70 per cent of Indians turn to music to uplift their mood versus 47 per cent of them talking to a friend.<br /><br /> <br /><br />Music helps increase productivity<br /><br />In India, on an average 87 per cent of respondents believed that they can work better while listening to their favourite music.<br /><br />The results are similar in other regions of the world. 75 per cent of French and 65 per cent of German respondents believed to have a positive impact on their productivity, when listening to their favourite music while working.<br /><br /> <br /><br />Music builds connections<br /><br />75 per cent of Indians believe that they have connected with someone because they happen to share the same taste in music.<br /><br />Friends are the number one influencers when it comes to choosing the genre of your music at 72 per cent, followed by parents at 42.9 per cent and siblings at 40 per cent.<br /><br /> <br /><br /> Music helps makes memories<br /><br />Survey respondents said that music has been an important part in celebrating their lives' milestones.<br /><br />Many indicated that music has helped them celebrate important life events like graduation (41.95 per cent), marriage (30.15 per cent) or moving to a new city (32.15 per cent).<br /><br />The relationship of a large part of Indians with music started at an early age with 44.65 per cent taking music lessons in school and 41.7 per cent have learned to play an instrument or sing, and continue to do so.<br /><br /> <br /><br />Pradeep Chaudhry, Country Manager, HARMAN India said: "Music has been central to our culture- from rich heritage folk music to eclectic musical soundtracks in movies. And one place where that seems to work the best is Twitter. At least when it comes to our Home Ministry. Following a plea on Twitter, the Union Home Ministry decided to make <a href="https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/change-in-visa-rules-to-aid-indians-marrying-abroad/article24374012.ece">visa rules easier</a> with a new amendment. <br /><br />According to the new amendment, foreigners who marry Indian nationals, even if it is on foreign soil, will no longer have a problem in getting their tourist visas converted to X2 or dependent visas. Irrespective of the place of their wedding, they now will be allowed to convert their visas to X2 visas.<br /><br />This decision was taken after a Filipino woman who married an Indian man on foreign soil could not get her visa converted into an X2 visa as Indian law did not permit it. The husband then brought this issue to the notice of Home Minister Rajnath Singh via Twitter. Singh took the matter in his own hands and initiated the new visa rule.<br /><br />According to older rules, the marriage had to take place in <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/nri/visa-and-immigration/government-to-allow-spouses-of-indian-nationals-to-convert-visa-category-even-if-married-abroad/articleshow/64920469.cms">India </a>and had to be registered within the time the current tourist visa was still valid. And, even after getting the X2 visa, the foreigner would still have to go back to their country and then return on the basis of X2 visa. <br /><br />But, all’s not easy for foreign nationals getting hitched to Indians. This new rule will not cover nationals from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sudan and Iraq, and people of Pakistani origin and stateless persons.<br /><br />Last week Singh addressed the Parliamentary Consultative Committee stating that the government would facilitate safe entry inside <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> for legitimate international travellers and make all visa-related and consular services faster and convenient for foreigners.<br />

New Delhi, Jun 18 () Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said India should no longer depend on China and instead focus on research and innovation to ramp up domestic manufacturing. <p> The minister also said the government is working on formulating a new policy for import substitution. </p><p> The remarks come in the wake of border clashes between the two nations in Ladakh. </p><p> Addressing a webinar on India's electric vehicle roadmap post COVID-19, the minister for Road Transport and Highways and MSME said, "I feel that it is time, which I directly want to tell you because I was not using those words, we should not depend upon China now."  </p><p> He said even though presently the prices of Chinese goods are attractive and Indian electric vehicle companies are earning good profits by importing parts, in the long-term, the country should produce everything locally. </p><p> "Without that, we don't have a good future. Otherwise the Chinese, somewhere they can give a reasonable concessional rate at the starting point, and when your industry will achieve good production they will charge more. </p><p> "So again there will be a problem. Trump in no mood to spare immigrants; goes after dependent spouses of H-1B visa holders

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>In her <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/here-comes-janet-yellen-2015-6">press conference on Wednesday</a> Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen used the term "data dependent" three times as she has been stressing the idea that the Fed will act based on the economic data they receive.</p><p>But is the fed as data dependent as she claims?</p><p>Goldman Sachs' Zach Pandl and David Mericle measured the data dependency of the Fed since it first began publishing the "dot plot" in January 2012. Pandl and Mericle found that federal funds rate projections have, on average, been responsive to changes in the outlook for unemployment and inflation. They shared their findings in a note to clients on Thursday.</p><p>The pair made their calculations by comparing the changes in the federal funds rate projections to changes in inflation, unemployment, and the neutral funds rate. They found a relatively low sensitivity to both unemployment and inflation compared to Taylor's Rule. (Simply put, Taylor's rule is a formula that recommends how central banks should respond to unemployment and inflation levels when setting interest rates.) This implies that the Fed could be relying on other data instead.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>However, <span>Pandl and Mericle found that the Fed has shown a trend of becoming increasingly data dependent, especially in the last six months. Still, they said they can't definitively say whether the "dot plot" from the June FOMC meeting is data dependent or not.They describe it as a "mixed verdict" which might imply that the Fed is allowing fears to kick in rather than working straight from the economic indicators.</span></p><p><span>They wrote:</span></p><p style="padding-left: 60px;"><span>On the one hand, the downgrade of the 2015 dots was broadly consistent with the revisions to the SEP forecasts for inflation and unemployment. GOLDMAN: The Fed might not be as data dependent as it claims

<p>Oil is the lifeblood of the Russian economy. </p>
<p>The EIA <a href="http://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.cfm?id=17231">has a chart out this morning</a> showing how dependent Russia's economy is on oil and gas. The data come in the context of new sanctions imposed by the U.S., and threatened by Europe, for Russian muscle-flexing in Ukraine.</p>
<p>Russian oil firms have brushed them off for now but their longer term impact is more uncertain.</p>
<p>In total, oil and gas comprised 68% of all Russian exports, with crude oil and petroleum products netting them <span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">almost four times as much revenue as from natural gas. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">In other words, it's pretty easy to know exactly what part of the Russian economy to pinch if you want to get the country's attention.</span></p>

Most active ingredients used in bug sprays are relatively stable and last a while. Here's how long common active ingredients will last:</p><h3><strong>DEET </strong></h3><p>The majority of popular bug spray brands such as OFF! contain N,N-diethyltoluamide, more commonly referred to as DEET, as their active ingredient. DEET doesn't expire. This chemical is quite stable and has a very long shelf life, says Zwiebel.</p><h3><strong>Picaridin</strong> </h3><p>Picaridin is another chemical that is very effective at repelling bugs. Like DEET Picardin is a very stable chemical. Picaridin based repellents usually do not have expiration dates on the bottle. Bug repellants with IR3535 often do have expiration dates, since this chemical is less stable than DEET or Picardin. The expiration date might be as soon as 18 months from the manufacture date. Avon and Coleman are two brands that use IR3535 in their formula. </p><h3><strong>Oil of lemon eucalyptus (OLE) or PMD</strong></h3><p>These similar oils are found in sprays like Repel and Off! Botanicals. The synthesized version of OLE is called <a href="https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/yellowbook/2020/noninfectious-health-risks/mosquitoes-ticks-and-other-arthropods">PMD</a>, which stands for para-menthane-3,8-diol. Repellants with this active ingredient are stable for long periods of time and likely won't have an expiration date on the bottle. REPEL is the most popular brand using OLE. While firms like Cirrus Logic, Apple's audio chip supplier, and Dialog Semiconductor, a power-management chip designer, have reached great heights being a part of Apple's supply chain, their continued success seems to hinge on staying in the giant's good graces.</p><p>Apple is the world's most valuable company, so it's bound to drive a high percentage of some firms' revenue. And the likes of Glu Mobile, a mobile games maker, and Foxconn, the manufacturing titan, aren't in any danger of being directly replaced by Apple the way Imagination was. But being so reliant does reinforce Apple's position of power as it puts its devices together. Here's how dependent some companies are on Apple's success

Many consumers already own the brewing machines, leading to speculation that the market is saturated. </p><p>This leaves Keurig with one hope: the upcoming "Kold" machine. </p><p><span style="background-color: #ffff00;">But the company won't start selling the single-serve brewer for cold beverages like iced coffee, sodas, and sports drinks, until the 2016 holiday season.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: #ffff00;">The machine will be sold online this fall, but won't spread to <keyword id="6354851" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Retail">retail</keyword> stores until a year later. </span><br /><br /><span style="background-color: #ffff00;">Investors have been worried about the new product: Brand executives have also told investors they would "give instructions" on how to use the machine, though they claimed it had "one button simplicity," <a href="https://twitter.com/BarbarianCap/status/598956715967651842">leading to speculation</a> that the design could be clunky. <span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></span></p><p>The new KOLD machine is a single-serve brewer for cold beverages like iced coffee, sodas, sports drinks, and iced tea.
