All he wants to do is fight. He's a fighting man. He's so committed."</p><p>McCann is a baby-faced assassin who throws punches in bunches from awkward angles until he secures a TV-friendly, highlight-reel knockout.</p><p><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-the-tyson-fury-english-traveller-boxing-style-2019-8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Insider previously reported</a> that McCann is part of the new generation of boxers from British and Irish travelling communities looking to become the next Fury.</p><p>McCann's head coach Alan Smith told Insider last year that McCann is a "mini superstar" already.</p><p>Smith said: "He's got a bit of everything. He's marketable, brash, brave, can punch a little bit. As a whole, he's very near the complete package. He's got cockiness, loves the crowd, and the camera loves him."</p><p>McCann has won all seven of his pro bouts to date and puts his undefeated record on the line on Warren's weekend show as he fights Pedro Matos in a super bantamweight match.</p><p>It is likely a bout McCann will not only win but look good doing so, as Warren, like Smith, sees that brashness which goes along with his skillset.</p><p>Warren regards McCann's unorthodox style so highly he compared it to Prince Naseem's — <a href="https://www.liveabout.com/ring-magazine-top-punchers-of-all-time-424118" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a fighter hailed as one of boxing's all-time great punchers by The Ring magazine</a>.</p><p>"He reminds of me a young Naseem," said Warren. "His confidence, power, and the angles he finds. I think if he's doing what he's doing, he'll go all the way. Not only did they win, they did so with style.</li><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/?hprecirc-bullet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories</a>.</li></ul><p>02 ARENA, LONDON - Red hot up-and-comers Archie Sharp and Dennis McCann showed on Saturday that the future of British boxing is as fun as it is flashy.</p><p>Sharp, a clear fan favorite with the London crowd, marched to the ring for his super featherweight bout against a tattooed Scotsman, Jordan McCorry, on the undercard of Frank Warren's "Heavy Duty" show at the 02 Arena.</p><p>With a nickname like "Sharpshooter," one would expect marksmanship - punishing blows landed accurately, with malice. And though it took a round for Sharp to get going, when he began throwing with abandon he was landing with a bang.</p><p>Sharp kept his guard unconventionally low which meant it was, at times, tough to predict what shots he'd be throwing. That low guard of his meant, when he did plant his feet, he was susceptible to attacks, and he by no means avoided them all.</p><p>At one point in the fight he was up against the ropes and just openly mocked McCorry by leaning against them and invited his man onto him, who refused to accept the invitation of what could have been a free punch.</p><p>Sharp, with a flashy-first fighting style, had McCorry beat in all departments - technical ability, shot selection, and ring craft. He beat him to the punch, seemed the harder hitter, and his play of the night, which he landed many times throughout the fight, was a textbook one-two; a ramrod jab followed by an overhand so hard it sprayed McCorry's sweat from his head to the canvas.</p><p>Sharp's greatest challenge will be whether he can continue to win with his showboating antics as he goes from regional level to national and beyond. They typically do all they can to avoid taking a terrible amount of punishment, and are not known for their concussive punching.</p><p>Instead, they are technically adept and defensively brilliant. So brilliant, they have a habit of making opponents look foolish.</p><p>Just ask the Canadian middleweight David Lemieux, who timed a punch so badly in his 2017 loss to Saunders that the Londoner had time to evade it and showboat half a step later.</p><p><strong>Watch it here:</strong></p><p>Saunders was so slick in that fight he dodged 90% of Lemieux's jabs, <a href="https://www.boxingscene.com/billy-joe-saunders-vs-david-lemieux-compubox-punch-stats--123517" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to Compubox data</a>.</p><p>Similarly, in Fury's signature victory - his 2015 bamboozling of Wladimir Klitschko in Germany - the six-foot-nine underdog showed so much ring craft that he limited Klitschko, who had reigned as champion for almost a decade, to a pitiful 4.5 punches landed on a per round average, <a href="https://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Wladimir_Klitschko_vs._Tyson_Fury" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boxrec reports</a>.</p><p><strong>So why are English travellers like Fury and Saunders so skilled at defensive boxing?</strong></p><p>"In life you have to know how to defend yourself first," Saunders, an unbeaten fighter with 28 wins, told Business Insider at a recent Matchroom Sport press conference in London. "Moreso in boxing, the only sport you can legally be killed in. You have to keep yourself on the ball, be physically and mentally in the right place, and above all witty. Often, the first lessons involve learning how to avoid getting hit.</p><p>"In the travelling community he had to defend himself," Saunders Sr. told Business Insider. "That's why I took him boxing, to stick up for himself and stop him being bullied. All traveller boys go through that. "But travellers pretty much box the same. They're defensive, leaning on the back foot, and I think it's just because they all spar with each other. So one style rubs off on the other one.</p><p>"I've trained quite a few travelling boys," Smith said. By beating Klitschko four years ago, he won four championship belts. He began to turn his life around, lost 140 pounds, and returned to boxing in 2018.</p><p>After two fights, he challenged knockout puncher Deontay Wilder in a dramatic 12-round battle, outboxing the American through large stretches of the bout. Let's live the life a bit more.' And I think that's the reason they're doing it now," Saunders said. "If we can make another one or two world champions from our culture, then we'll be very proud of ourselves."</p><p>Tommy Saunders said if it weren't for boxing, young traveller boys would have to get jobs from a young age selling scrap metal to earn a living. "That's the culture," he said.</p><p>"But now Billy Joe and Tyson are heroes. Boys coming through now stick with boxing, you know? They're not walking away at a certain age.</p><p>"A lot of traveller boys are now trying to do the same and hopefully there'll be a lot of world champion traveller boys at different weights. This country is going to see even more and hopefully even better fighters than Billy Joe and Tyson, and that's a positive thing for British boxing."</p><h2>English travellers have attracted the attention of Britain's media</h2><p>Neither Fury or Saunders have been far from controversy throughout their careers.</p><p>In the past, Fury suggested he'd "hang" his sister if he thought she was promiscuous, said two boxing rivals Tony Bellew and David Price were "gay lovers," and once went on an anti-Semitic rant, <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/dec/07/tyson-fury-outrage-homosexuality-women-religion-divisive-sporting-star" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to The Guardian</a> and <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/boxing/2016/05/17/tyson-fury-apologises-after-latest-homophobic-sexist-and-anti-se/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Telegraph</a>.</p><p>He has since distanced himself from these remarks, <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/boxing/2016/05/17/tyson-fury-apologises-after-latest-homophobic-sexist-and-anti-se/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">apologizing</a> for any offence caused.</p><p>Saunders has also attracted the ire of the press.</p><p>He previously <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/deontay-wilder-chases-billy-joe-saunders-2018?r=US&amp;IR=T" target="_blank" rel="noopener">threw chicken at the heavyweight boxer Wilder at a restaurant</a>, <a href="https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/boxing/billy-joe-saunders-video-watch-twitter-drugs-woman-attack-stranger-sex-act-footage-a8542586.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">paid a drug addict to slap a stranger</a>, and posed as his <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/billy-joe-saunders-young-son-attacked-boxing-opponent-willie-monroe-2017-9?r=US&amp;IR=T" target="_blank" rel="noopener">7-year-old son punched an opponent in the groin</a> at a weigh-in.</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5d7b6eb22e22af047f4624f6-2000/billy%20joe%20saunders%20son.jpg" border="0" alt="Billy Joe Saunders son" data-mce-source="Photo by Reuters / Tony O'Brien" data-link="https://www.reutersconnect.com/all?id=tag%3Areuters.com%2C2017%3Anewsml_RC142903E150&amp;share=true" /></div></div></div><p>"There's bad press but I've grown up around them, trained a lot of them through my life, and they're the easiest people to get along with," the boxing coach Smith said. "I feel comfortable in their company.</p><p>"Most young traveller boys go to the gym, leave the gym at 15 or 16 as they get married very young, and have to go to work."</p><p>Smith said that before Fury and Saunders there was the Irish fighter Andy Lee, the first athlete from the traveller community to win a world title in boxing when he won the middleweight belt in 2014.</p><p>"Lee changed the way for traveller boxers," Smith said. "He proved you can get to world level and carried himself fantastic. He did a lot for the traveller community, and you see an influx of traveller boxers come through now."</p><h2>Travellers dominate boxing because they don't travel anymore</h2><p>The boxing promoter Frank Warren, who represents Fury and used to promote Saunders, told Business Insider the key reason why fighters like Lee, Fury, and Saunders won world titles, and why there are more prospect traveller boys coming through, is because English travellers don't actually travel anymore.</p><p>English travellers now settle on sites, and learn to box at local boxing clubs where they are then taken to amateur tournaments up and down the country to fine-tune their craft in a competitive environment.</p><p>"What happened with travellers is they were travelling so they weren't going to one boxing club, but Billy Joe for example … he was from Hatfield. He was trained locally.</p><p>"Years ago, they'd be up and down the country doing whatever they're doing and not taking it so seriously. "I go back to the days of Johnny Frankham, fighters like him. Tony Collins. Great fighters. But they all lacked discipline. No discipline. Johnny Frankham used to go running in the morning with a cigarette in his mouth!</p><p>"You can have talent but you've also got to have discipline and put the hard work in. Travellers, now, have got discipline nailed down."</p><p>Fury and Saunders still have a number of years left to compete at the top level and McCann, if he lives up to Smith's expectations, could well join them. But McCann could be one of many.</p><p>So while English travellers fight nothing like Pitt&#xa0;in "Snatch," they are still striking a knockout blow for their community, their culture, and for British boxing in general.</p><p>Warren told us he is still signing English traveller fighters to his promotional company, and Smith said a trend has been set and he expects to see even more traveller boys perform at the highest level.</p><p>"Britain is just so lucky at the moment as boxing is thriving," Smith said. "It's a healthy sport, it's well-paid, and well shown by a few channels like BT Sport.</p><p>"It's an interesting time for the traveller community and people from other backgrounds, from every walk of life, and every nationality. English travellers like Tyson Fury are taking over boxing around the world, but they fight nothing like Brad Pitt's character in 'Snatch'

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/554787d769bedd9342fecf5c-1024-562/mad men 753 6.jpg" border="0" alt="mad men 753 6"><p class="source"><span>AMC/"Mad Men"</span></p><p class="caption">Joan (Christina Hendricks) fights for women's rights on Sunday's episode of "Mad Men."</p></img></div><p></p></div></div><strong><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Warning: Spoilers Ahead</span></strong></p><p>On Sunday night's episode of "Mad Men," we learn that although the series has made it to the 1970s, women's rights in the workplace is still far off.</p><p>Last week, Sterling Cooper &amp; Partners got the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/mad-men-season-7-mccann-erickson-2015-4" target="_blank">shocking news that they where being absorbed</a> by their subsidiary, McCann Erickson.</p><p>Erickson's head executive, Jim Hobart, pitched SC&amp;P partners - Don Draper, Roger Sterling, Ted Chaough, Peter Campbell, and Joan Holloway - that they were "rolling out the red carpet" for them with major accounts, companies SC&amp;P had been struggling to nab for years.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/553e425f6da8111e7fc5c918-1024-567/mad men s7 9.jpg" border="0" alt="mad men S7 9" style="line-height: 1.5em;"><p class="source"><span>AMC/"Mad Men"</span></p><p class="caption">Next stop, "advertising heaven."</p></img></div><p></p></div></div><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">But when Hobart went around the table telling the partners which big accounts they would head, he left out Joan, and she noticed. After the group celebrated the news, Joan told Peter she didn't know if a woman could get the same accounts as the men at McCann Erickson.</span></p><p>This premonition, unfortunately, turned out to be accurate Sunday night for Joan in a heartbreaking episode.</p><p>We find out very quickly that McCann Erickson is a boys club when Joan is on the phone with her Avon contact, along with her junior account man, Dennis. Suddenly, Dennis takes over the call and basically ruins it with his lack of knowledge of the client (like asking if he golfs, unaware the client is in a wheelchair).</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5547878b69bedd303afecf5e-1007-555/mad men 753 2.jpg" border="0" alt="mad men 753 2" style="line-height: 1.5em;"><p class="source"><span>AMC/"Mad Men"</span></p><p class="caption">"You golf?" ... "Um, no."</p></img></div><p></p></div></div><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">This leads Joan to reach out for support from Hobart's second in command, Ferg Donnelly. She asks for Dennis to be put off her team. Ferg says he'll handle it.</span></p><p>Ferg gets back to Joan with a solution, but first tells her the logic behind why Dennis acted the way he did.</p><p>He tells Joan that Dennis acted in a more authoritative role because he has a wife and three children and "he's not going to work for a girl… What is he going to say, 'she's my boss?'"</p><p>This obviously isn't Joan's first time hearing a chauvinistic remark. We've seen her endure it countless times on the show, and again she lets this one roll off her.</p><p>But things get even more uncomfortable for Joan when Ferg tells her his solution is that he would now work on the account for her, adding, "I know a good job when I see one."</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5547879eecad045c20baa38e-1024-554/mad men 753 3.jpg" border="0" alt="mad men 753 3" style="line-height: 1.5em;"><p class="source"><span>AMC/"Mad Men"</span></p><p class="caption">Ferg (Paul Johansson) makes his move.</p></img></div><p></p></div></div>Ferg then pushes <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Joan to set up a trip to Atlanta to speak with the Avon client in person and apologize for Dennis' remarks. Joan deflects Ferg's sly advance of proposing a trip together by saying that the client will be in town soon. Ferg replies by telling her he's "not expecting anything more than a good time" by working with her.</span></p><p>Joan is completely deflated from the encounter. But to drive home the point that McCann Erickson has little need of Joan, Ferg leaves her office with this zing: <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">"We can't lose those accounts, what else would you do around here?"</span></p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/554787c6eab8eacd0a6913a0-1024-554/man men 753 5.jpg" border="0" alt="man men 753 5" style="line-height: 1.5em;"><p class="source"><span>AMC/"Mad Men"</span></p><p class="caption">An unwanted note from Ferg.</p></img></div><p></p></div></div><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">With nowhere to turn (and now getting candy and love letters from Ferg), Joan goes right to the top and has a meeting with Hobart. She voices her displeasure with Ferg and suggests that she takes on the accounts on her own, suggesting she receive the same "certain amount of status" she had at SC&amp;P.</span></p><p>But Hobart responds to Joan's suggestion by saying, "Your status has changed."</p><p>"I don't care about your SC&amp;P partnership," he told her. "I don't know if somebody left it to you in their will, but your little stake doesn't mean anything here."</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/554787e9eab8eabe0c69139f-1024-562/mad men 753 7.jpg" border="0" alt="mad men 753 7" style="line-height: 1.5em;"><p class="source"><span>AMC/"Mad Men"</span></p><p class="caption">Joan faces off with Hobart (Matt Bushell).</p></img></div><p></p></div></div><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">This leads to a battle of words with Joan standing up for her rights and letting Hobart know that she's happy to take her half million dollars McCann Erickson owes her and just leave the company. Hobart tells her to figure out a way to get along with Ferg, or expect a letter from their lawyer.</span></p><p>"I wonder how many women around here would like to speak to a lawyer?" Joan fires back. "I believe the equal employment opportunity commission has one."</p><p>Joan continues that the second she made a complaint the ACLU would be in her office and in the lobby there would be "Betty Friedan and half the women who marched down 5th avenue."</p><p>Hobart counters by saying he'll give her 50-cents on the dollar to never see her again, essentially offering her half of what she's owed to walk away.</p><p>Joan says she's not negotiating, and Hobart tells her to leave the office.</p><p>Though any "Man Men" fan wouldn't be shocked by this unethical exchange, recent seasons did show the evolution (albeit, minor) of women's rights in the workplace. Joan being a partner at SC&amp;P and Peggy Olson named head copy chief, proved that. But by being gobbled up by the larger Erickson, it's evident equality hasn't spread throughout Madison Avenue.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/554787b069bedd263afecf5e-1024-553/mad men 753 4.jpg" border="0" alt="mad men 753 4" style="line-height: 1.5em;"><p class="source"><span>AMC/"Mad Men"</span></p><p class="caption">Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) fights for her equality by not going to McCann  Erickson until she gets an office.</p></img></div><p></p></div></div><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Along with Joan's troubles on Sunday's episode, Peggy was still at the empty SC&amp;P offices because Erickson thought she was coming to the company as a secretary, not one of the heads of the copy division. She demanded an office before setting foot there.</span></p><p>As Joan points out to Hobart with her mention of feminist activist <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_Friedan">Betty Friedan</a>, the cry for equal equality for women was becoming louder at the time.</p><p>Friedan lead the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women%27s_Strike_for_Equality">Women's Strike for Equality</a> in August of 1970. Gorman landed a perfect shot to the side of Dubois' face, which sparked feral, off-balance punching from both men. Neither one relented. Both wanted a bruising, brawling win in the main event of Warren's "Heavy Duty" show.</p><p>Perhaps listening from the calming words emanating from his corner, Dubois got back behind his jab, attempting to take control of the fight. But moments after Dubois boxed behind his lead jab, Gorman cracked him round the cheek with a hellfire hook. More of those and Dubois could have found himself dazed, confused, or worse - on the floor.</p><p>But he had no intention of getting hit with that kind of shot again. Instead, he will presumably defend his British title, perhaps hoping to win it outright with three successful defenses.</p><p>Dubois, who now has 12 wins (11 by knockout), refuses to get carried away, and even said after his win that "every fight is a learning fight" and that there is "more to do."</p><p>With ambitions of further improving, the heavyweight division will be on red alert as there is now an emerging puncher adding his name to a flourishing weight class that is already home to some of the biggest names in boxing, like Joshua, Whyte, Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, and Oleksandr Usyk.</p><p>Former heavyweight champion David <a href="https://twitter.com/BTSportBoxing/status/1150182436497702914" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Haye told BT Sport</a> after the bout that he was impressed by Dubois' "power."</p><p>He said: "Most heavyweights are powerful in the first couple rounds but his power maintained throughout. <p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5547c2f56bb3f7580633ba2b-1147-860/mad-men-joan-episode-lost-horizon.jpg" border="0" alt="Mad Men Joan Episode Lost Horizon"><p class="source"><span><a href="http://www.amctv.com/mad-men/videos/talked-about-scene-episode-712-mad-men-lost-horizon">"Mad Men"/AMC</a></span></p><p class="caption">Joan wasn't afraid to dish it out.</p></img></div><p></p></div></div><p dir="ltr"><em>Spoiler alert: This article contains details from the twelfth episode of "Mad Men" from season seven.&#xa0;</em></p><p dir="ltr">We'd be remiss if we lauded the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/mad-men-season-7-joan-exits-2015-5">most recent episode</a> of "Mad Men" as the singular depiction in the show's history of pervasive and systemic sexism in the workplace.</p><p dir="ltr"><span>But this episode offers an important lesson for all of us about the strides women have taken towards gender equality at work, not to mention a reminder for how far we've yet to go.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>Sexism was alive and well during Sunday night's episode. There was the account man named Dennis assigned to "help" Joan, a former female executive of Sterling Cooper &amp; Partners, with the clients she brought into ad agency McCann Erickson. When she called him out for ruining a call with one of her clients, he responded,</span> "Who told you you got to get pissed off?"</p><p dir="ltr"><span>When she turned to senior colleague Ferg Donnelly for help, he rationalized Dennis' behavior saying, "He's not going to work for a girl...What's he going to say? She's my boss?" </span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>What's more, after taking Dennis off her business, Donnelly suggested he and Joan travel together to meet her offended client, saying that he was "not expecting anything more than a good time."</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>The clincher, though, was the tense scene betwee</span>n Joan a<span>nd McCann Erickson boss Jim Hobart, who she confronted about the sexual harassment. During a heated exchange, Hobart informed Joan that he doesn't care about her previous status as a partner and threatens her, "Other people always say you're the kind of gal who doesn't take 'no' for an answer, but no. You're not telling me how to run my business. Now, find a way to get along, or you can expect a letter from our lawyer."</span></p><p><iframe width="800" height="530" frameborder="0" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/WQ7vFVaKCMI?list=PL5534FC45968C3712"></iframe></p><p dir="ltr"><span>In retort, Joan uncharacteristically invoked the women's liberation movement as a threat:</span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">&#xa0;</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">"</span><strong style="line-height: 1.5em;">I wonder how many women around here would like to speak to a lawyer. I think the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has one.</strong><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">"</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>Established in 1965, the EEOC is a federal agency that enforces laws against employment discrimination, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. The agency's first complainants were air stewardesses disparaging their airline's ban on marriage, weight requirements, and age discrimination. But few took the prohibition of discrimination against women seriously at the time, and the EEOC director even called Title VII "a fluke … conceived out of wedlock."</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>She continues:&#xa0;</span><span style="background-color: #ffffff;">"</span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"><strong><span>I</span> think the second I file a complaint I'll have the ACLU in my office, and Betty Friedan in the lobby with half the women who marched down Fifth Avenue</strong>."</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Friedan, infuriated by the lack of response to claims of discrimination against female workers, formed the National Organization for Women (NOW) in 1966.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>In August 1970, NOW organized the Women's Strike for Equality, a nationwide demonstration for women's rights held on the 50th Anniversary of women's suffrage. As part of one of the first major protests of the women's liberation movement, 50,000 women marched on Fifth Avenue in New York.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>"</span><strong>I guess you didn't see the headlines about what happened at Ladies Home Journal or Newsweek</strong><span>," Joan said. </span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>In March, 1970, more than 100 feminists occupied The Ladies' Home Journal's editorial offices for 11 hours protesting the magazine's mostly-male staff and it's depiction of women. The magazine's editor agreed to let the group produce eight pages in the August issue.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>Also in March, 1970, a group of 46 Newsweek staff members filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, claiming they had been systematically discriminated against in hiring and promotion. After filing another sex discrimination complaint with the commission in 1972, Newsweek created timetables for hiring women in 1973.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span><span>Later in the episode, Joan's&#xa0;</span><span>triumphant moment is cut short when Roger Sterling compels her to accept Hobart's offer of a $250,000 buyout - half of her shares. She complies.</span></span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>There is a moment of victory for women in Joan's speech, but her ultimate defeat fittingly represents how far women still have to come.</span></p><p dir="ltr">Hobart&#xa0;<span>offered Joan 50 cents on the dollar for her shares in the company, slightly less than the 59 cents on the dollar women earned compared to their male equivalents in 1970.
