We remain committed to creating job opportunities across the country, especially at a time when the pandemic has posed challenges in earning livelihood for many”, said Akhil Saxena, Vice President - APAC, MENA, and LATAM Customer Fulfilment Operations, Amazon India, in a statement. Meanwhile, Flipkart had said that it’s Big Billion Days will create 70,000 direct and lakhs of indirect jobs., “As a front runner in e-commerce, our training and investment in the workforce is widely recognised, and contributes to skill development and enhances employability. Amazon, Flipkart, Delhivery create lakhs of ‘seasonal jobs’ as they gear up for the festive season

The company’s spokesperson confirmed the development, highlighting that Google Russia does not have enough assets to pay suppliers, vendors and employers. “Russian authorities' seizure of Google Russia's bank account has made it untenable for our Russia office to function, including employing and paying Russia-based employees, paying suppliers and vendors, and meeting other financial obligations,” the spokesperson, Julie Tarallo McAlister, said in a press statement. Google Russia is said to have employed over <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2022/5/18/23124143/google-russian-branch-bankruptcy-ukraine#:~:text=The%20Russian%20branch%20reported%20making,and%20employed%20over%20100%20workers.">100 employees</a>. Despite the insolvency petition, services like Search, Maps, YouTube and Gmail would continue to be operational in the Asian country. There would be no changes to Google’s Android operating system or Play store app either, the company has confirmed. The development comes as Russia is fighting a war with Ukraine over geopolitical issues. Google had been facing a lot of pressure from the Russian government after it failed to delete content, which Russia deemed illegal. The company was also facing criticism for restricting access to some Russian media on YouTube. The country’s government had also imposed a fine of $113 million, or 7.2 billion ruble, on Google in December 2021 for not resolving the raised concerns. However, the Russian government has confirmed that it has no intention to not ban Google despite the issue. Interestingly, Google Russia has earned a revenue of RUB (rubles) 134.3 billions or $210 million 2022 , Interfax news agency's Spark database of Russian companies showed. Google Russia has no money to pay salaries to its 100 employees, heads for bankruptcy

In an interview with Business Insider, EY said it will also recruit 6,000 employees for its Global Delivery Services (GDS) tax team across various countries including India. GDS is a global delivery network which is a part of EY. It collaborates with the company’s team for various projects across countries like Argentina, China, India, the Philippines, the UK, Poland, Hungary and the United States — with teams from all EY service lines. “I think globally, the tax department will be recruiting 25,000 professionals and GDS will have 6000 tax recruitments across multiple countries and that too in different areas,” <keyword id="13892533" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ashutosh-Rathor" source="Orion">Ashutosh Rathor</keyword>, global tax GDS leader and global tax industry leader told Business Insider India in an exclusive interview. INTERVIEW: EY to hire 25,000 professionals in the tax department

<ul><li>Fresh graduates who took Scaler Academy's six month coding programme secured average compensation of over ₹15 lakh from global multinationals like Amazon, Samsung, Google and more. </li><li>Other job offers came from companies like Lido Learning, MindTickle, Delhivery, 1MG, Oyo, MakeMyTrip and Razorpay. </li><li>Of the 182 learners on the platform, 177 previously had job offers extending an average salary of nearly ₹7.5 lakh via campus placement drives or direct recruitment. </li><li>The learners are mentored by subject matter experts from companies like Google, Facebook, Twitter and Netflix.</li></ul>Fresh graduates who took Scaler Academy’s six-month coding programme, secured jobs offers from global multinationals like Amazon, Samsung, Google and more. The academy also says that their average compensation is also over ₹15 lakh. A third of them also received job offers over ₹25 lakh per annum. Some other companies that provided job offers include Lido Learning, MindTickle, Delhivery, 1MG, Oyo, MakeMyTrip and Razorpay. The academy claims that most of their students also managed to receive compensation that is twice that of their campus job offers. Of the 182 learners on the platform, 83 previously had job offers extending an average salary of nearly ₹7 lakh via campus placement drives or direct recruitment. That means, the salaries offered after reskilling was more than double, compared to the campus offers. “Once the youth of our country is empowered with the necessary skills and knowledge, they are capable of creating hundreds of unicorns like Facebook and Google. The April 2019 batch was the litmus test to understand that. In fact, 33 of them today hold job offers that are paying over ₹25 lakh per annum,” said <keyword id="8665617" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="abhimanyu-saxena">Abhimanyu Saxena</keyword>, Co-founder at Scaler Academy and <keyword id="8665620" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="InterviewBit">InterviewBit</keyword>. Scaler Academy is an initiative of the reskilling startup Interviewbit. While a few learners on the platform came from premier Indian institutions like Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs), almost three-fourths of them were from tier II colleges. “72% of our students come from non-‘pedigree’ institutions and yet they have been able to secure gainful employment opportunities with top companies, including the likes of Google. The numbers clearly suggest that most MNCs and leading start-ups are no longer only hiring from Tier1 colleges, they are increasingly looking at talent over pedigree,” added <keyword id="279823" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anshuman-Singh">Anshuman Singh</keyword>, co-founder at Scaler Academy and InterviewBit. Currently, Scaler academy has a user base of nearly 2,000 students. The learners are mentored by experts from companies like Google, Facebook, Twitter and Netflix. “A lot of young engineers don’t always have access and exposure to the relevant technical skills or recruitment processes of global companies. Our mission is to bridge that gap and help them grow in their careers. A third of the freshers who reskilled at Scaler Academy bagged job offers at over ₹25 lakh

Unlike most IIMs, IIM Visakhapatnam secured over a third of the offers from the Information Technology domain, followed by banking and finance. Other sectors that rolled out offers at IIM-V include education technology, infrastructure and manufacturing (18%), logistics and automobile (9%), FMCG and luxury goods (4%). Xavier School of Management (XLRI), IIM Calcutta and Ahmedabad campuses secured the maximum number of offers from consulting companies this placement season. On the other hand, XLRI also attracted the highest number of offers from the consulting domain at 26%, this year. IIM Visakhapatnam places all its students at an average salary of ₹13 lakh; highest package stood at ₹27 lakh

<ul><li>Top management institute <keyword id="1821069" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Xavier-School-of-Management">Xavier School of Management</keyword> (<keyword id="64843" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="XLRI">XLRI</keyword>) placed all of 359 students within the first two days of <keyword id="121400" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="campus-placements">campus placements</keyword>. </li><li>Almost half of the offers bagged by the students were made via pre-placement offers. </li><li>The average salary package increased from ₹22.3 lacs in 2019 to ₹24.3 lacs this year. </li><li>The highest international offer stood at ₹58 lacs from the sales &amp; marketing.</li></ul>Top management institute Xavier School of Management (XLRI) placed all of 359 students within the first two days of campus placements. As many as 108 companies participated in the campus drive — rolling out domestic and international offers. In fact, almost half of the offers bagged by the students were made via PPOs (pre-placement offers). The average salary package increased from ₹2.2 million in 2019 to ₹2.4 million this year. Banking and financial services turned out to be the highest paymaster — offering domestic salaries as high as ₹5 million. The highest international offer stood at ₹5.8 million from the sales &amp; marketing domain. “This year’s placement season has once again witnessed remarkable success in spite of the longish economic slowdown. Top companies coming for recruitment is an affirmation by the industry of the high-standard of management-centric education that we strive for,” said J Christie, Director at XLRI. Top recruiters — Consulting, Sales &amp; Marketing, BFSI Wrapping up the recent campus placement season, the B-school attracted most promising job packages from the consulting (26%),, sales and marketing (21%) and BFSI (banking and financial services) at 17%. Global multinationals <keyword id="50041" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="KPMG">KPMG</keyword> and PwC topped the charts, rolling out the most number of offers. XLRI students bag domestic and international job offers with salaries over ₹50 lakh

With Ankit’s elevation, he will now own product end-to-end, from consumer to supply chain and last mile. The quick commerce player has its job cut out after it became a unicorn last month. Zepto is India’s 84th unicorn with its latest fundraise. India had 83 unicorns at the start of the year but several startups have lost that tag with down rounds and cuts in valuation. The quick commerce player, started by two teenagers two years ago, has raised $200 million through a Series E round at a valuation of $1.4 billion. The latest round is entirely primary. The agenda is to build a good capital base ahead of a potential listing in 2025. With this round, the startup has brought on board a bunch of new investors. This round was led by StepStone Group and this investment into Zepto is their first direct investment in an Indian company). Additionally, Goodwater Capital, a consumer-focused venture capital firm based in California, joined the round as a new investor. Notably, existing investors, like Nexus Venture Partners, Glade Brook Capital, Lachy Groom and more, doubled down on their investments in Zepto with meaningful follow-on investments.

While Reliance Retail’s performance has been quite glossy on an annual basis, the company has failed to keep pace with its quarterly performance. “The headwinds posed by the COVID situation in January were offset by the robust growth in February and March as the business leveraged festive events and early setting of summer season,” the company said in its media release. Its net profit declined by ₹120 crore in the January-March quarter of 2022, on a quarterly basis. The Mukesh Ambani-led company reported a net profit of ₹2,139 crore in Q4 compared to ₹2,239 crore in the previous quarter.
