Delhi has <a href="https://www.livemint.com/news/india/delhi-govt-sounds-yellow-alert-amid-omicron-concerns-more-curbs-to-be-imposed-covid-19-pandemic-11640677809990.html">reportedly </a>recorded 331 new covid-19 cases on a single day on Monday, December 27. Following this, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has imposed a level-I (Yellow alert) under graded response action plan (GRAP) in the national capital. Theoretically, yellow alert kicks in when the positivity rate of the virus crosses 0.5% for two consecutive days. The GRAP are based on the positivity rate, new Covid cases as well as the availability of oxygen beds. There are four levels to this, namely yellow, amber, orange and red. Currently, the state is following a <keyword id="739481" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="night-curfew" source="Orion">night curfew</keyword> from 11 pm to 5 am since Monday, December 27. Usual restrictions under yellow alert <ul><li>Schools and colleges will be closed</li><li>Shop of non-essential items will open on alternate days</li><li>Seating capacity trimmed by half in metro trains and public transport buses among others</li><li>Cinema halls and gyms to stay close</li><li>Malls to stay open from 10am to 8pm on an odd-even basis</li></ul>However, the Delhi CM has informed that a detailed order on restrictions to be implemented will be released soon. Delhi orders ‘yellow alert’ in the state due to rising Omicron cases, here’s what it means

<keyword id="6358777" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="New-Delhi">New Delhi</keyword>, The MET on Friday sounded an <keyword id="2917676" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="orange-alert">orange alert</keyword> for the <keyword id="6360421" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="national-capital">national capital</keyword> for two days till Sunday after icy winds blowing from the snow-clad <keyword id="52569" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="himalayas">Himalayas</keyword> brought down the city's mercury to nearly 3 degrees Celsius. It will be a cloudy Saturday with fog causing trouble for traffic till Monday. The IMD has four colour-coded warnings as per the intensity of any <keyword id="1202050" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="weather-system">weather system</keyword> -- green, yellow, orange and red. Orange alert is given to authorities to be prepared. The Safdarjung Observatory, which provides representative data, recorded a minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius, while Ayanagar and Lodhi Road weather stations registered 3.5 and 3.8 degrees Celsius. The city is likely to record another "severe" cold day on Friday. "Cold day to severe cold day at a few places and cold wave to severe cold wave conditions at many places. Ground frost at isolated places," stated IMD in its bulletin. The city will witness partly cloudy sky on Saturday and shallow fog for the three subsequent days. According to the weather department, there will be no significant change in minimum and maximum temperatures over parts of northwest India for the next two to three days till Monday and rise by 2-3 degree Celsius in minimum temperatures and 4-5 degree Celsius in maximum temperatures during subsequent three days till December 24. "Cold day to severe dold day conditions very likely in some pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh. "Cold day conditions in isolated pockets over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, east Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh during next 24 hours (till Saturday) and decrease thereafter," IMD stated. The IMD also issued alert for the ground frost over Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, west Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during the next two days till Sunday. Ground frost refers to the various coverings of ice produced by the direct deposition of water vapour on objects and trees, whose surfaces have a temperature below the freezing point of water. Delhi cold wave to worsen this weekend as city is put on 'orange alert'

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had in a late night bulletin issued on Thursday withdrawn the red alert and issued a yellow alert for 10 districts of the state. In a bulletin released on Friday morning, the IMD said the deep depression is likely to move slowly west- southwestwards and cross Ramanathapuram and adjoining Thoothukudi districts in Tamil Nadu during the next six hours with wind speed of 50-60 gusting to 70 kmph. "It is very likely to weaken further into a depression (wind speed 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph) during next 12 hours," IMD said. It has issued yellow alerts for the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram. Meanwhile, the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has rescheduled nine flights scheduled for Friday. "The operations of the airport have been suspended till 6 PM today and all the flights were rescheduled. There is a review meeting from Delhi today to assess the situation,"C V Ravindran,Airport Director, told P T I. The state government had declared a public holiday on Friday for five districts in the state in view of the red alert which was issued earlier. The state has also opened over 2,000 relief camps to face any contingencies as heavy rains were expected when cyclone Burevi made landfall. A deep depression over southwest Bay of Bengal had intensified into a cyclonic storm 'Burevi' and the IMD had predicted heavy rains and wind in the seven southern districts of the state from December 3 to 5. New Delhi [India], July 28 (ANI): A senior official in the Pakistan government has admitted that Pakistsmugglers are using drones to smuggle illicit drugs, mostly heroin into Indian territory. Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, the Special Assistant on Defence to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made these remarks to Hamid Mir, a journalist associated with Pakistan's Geo News. Mir has posted a video on his Twitter handle of the interview with Khan, who is also the Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) representing Kasur city, which borders the state of Punjab in India. The Pakistani journalist tweeted on July 17, "Big disclosure by PM's advisor Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan. Smugglers using drones in the flood-affected areas of Kasur near Pakistan-India border to transport heroin. He demanded a special package for the rehabilitation of the flood victims otherwise victims will join smugglers." In the video clip of the interview posted by the Pakistani journalist, Malik Khan is heard saying, "This (Kasur near LOC) is a rangers area. Due to some border regulations, there is some sensitivity." When the journalist asks the special advisor to Pakistan PM about the issue of cross-border smuggling of narcotics in Kasur he affirms the development. "Sure, it (smuggling via drone) is happening and it is very unfortunate. Recently there have been two incidents where 10 kg of heroin was tied to each drone and thrown across. Agencies are working on it." Indian security forces have brought down a number of drones in recent times carrying contraband. In April this year, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh said that security forces have taken many counter-measures to tackle incidents of dropping of weapons and drugs by drones sent by Pakistan. Earlier this month, on July 21, BSF and Punjab Police troops recovered a drone in broken condition from the farming field near Mastgarh village in Punjab's Tarn Taran district. On specific information, BSF and Punjab Police launched a search operation and recovered the Pakistani drone from the outskirts of Mastgarh village. "The recovered drone belongs to Quadcopter, DJI Matrice 300 RTK model," officials said. Earlier, the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled the nefarious design of smugglers by seizing 2.35 kg of heroin dropped by a Pakistani drone near the International Border in Punjab's Tarn Taran district. During the detailed search, the BSF troops recovered one packet of narcotics suspected to be heroin weighing 2.35 kg wrapped with yellow adhesive tape from the farming field ahead of border fencing. On June 29, BSF troops recovered approximately 5.120 kg of suspected heroin dropped by a Pakistani drone near the International Border in farming fields of Village- Khalra in Tarn Taran district. Earlier, on June 24, the troops of the BSF shot down a Pakistani drone that had intruded into the Indian airspace in Punjab's Tarn Taran sector. Also, the BSF shot and brought down a Pakistani drone in Punjab's Tarn Taran district. On June 22, the BSF in Punajb's Fazilka recovered a drone originating from the Pakistan side and two packets of suspected narcotics near the Abohar border. "On specific information, alert BSF troops recovered a Pakistani drone (DJI Matrice 300 RTK) on June 22, during morning hours along with 2 kg (appx) suspected heroin near the international border in Jodhawala village of Fazilka district," BSF Punjab Frontier said. BSF personnel in Rajasthan's Bikaner recovered a drone originating from the Pakistan side and two packets of suspected narcotics near the Rawla border. (ANI)

However, the restaurants and pubs will continue to operate during regular hours of business at 50% capacity. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope, on December 29, had highlighted that Mumbai may face a lockdown-like situation if the number of COVID-19 cases keep rising. “Worrying to see the number of active cases increasing in the State. Mumbai's positivity rate is at 4%. If this goes above 5%, then we will have to think about imposing restrictions," Tope was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. The development comes as India’s Omicron tally crossed 900 on Wednesday, and Maharashtra has the highest number of cases. During the <keyword id="188" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="diwali" source="Orion">Diwali</keyword> festival on October 25, there will be a partial solar eclipse which will be visible from the city as well as from most parts of the country, astrophysicist Debi Prasad Duari said. The eastern metropolis, however, will be able to witness the partial solar eclipse, the second in 2022, for a very small duration, the celestial phenomenon will be better observed in the northern and western regions of the country, he said. The eclipse will not be observed from northeastern <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> as the celestial phenomenon will be occurring after sunset in those regions, Duari said. Apart from India, the October 25 partial cosmic affair will be visible from most parts of Europe, northern Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia, Duari elaborated. "The partial solar eclipse will begin in Iceland at around 14:29 hours IST and will be seen at its maximum from Russia at 16:30 hours (IST). It will end at around 18:32 hours (IST) over the Arabian Sea," he told PTI while sharing information on the celestial event. "The eastern part of the country will see the partial eclipse only marginally, that also during the sunset. The northern and western parts of the country are better locations to observe the partial eclipse with a better view and for a longer period of time." "During the new <keyword id="42440" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="moon" source="Orion">moon</keyword> (Amavasya) the <keyword id="24879" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="sun" source="Orion">Sun</keyword>, Moon and Earth almost come in a linear configuration, whereby from earth we can see the moon without any sunlight falling on it. But at times, as on October 25, the Sun, Moon and Earth will almost be on the same plane resulting in the moon appearing to cover the Sun partially for a period of time causing a partial Solar Eclipse," he explained. In and around the metropolis, the partial eclipse will begin at around 16:52 hours, the maximum occurring at 17:01 hours, and will cease to be seen at 17:03 hours at the sunset, Duari said. "Even at the maximum eclipse, only 4 per cent of the lighted disc of the setting Sun will be covered by the Moon," he said. In the north Bengal town of Siliguri, the celestial phenomenon will be occurring between 16:41 and 16:59 hours and during the maximum eclipse (at around 16:56 hours) about 8.91 per cent of the Sun will be covered by the Moon's disc, Duari stated. "In New Delhi, it will commence at around 16:29 hours and end with the sunset at 18:09 hours with the maximum eclipse to occur at 17:42 hours when the Sun will be obscured by the Moon by an amount of only 24.5 per cent," Duari said. Jaisalmer in Rajasthan will experience the eclipse from 16:26 hours to 18:09 hours with the maximum at around 17:30 hours. when the disc of the Sun will be obscured by 42.5 per cent. "In Mumbai, the eclipse will begin at 16:49 hours with the maximum occurring at around 17:42 hours. It will end at 18:09 hours when the Sun appears to go down the Arabian Sea at sunset. Here, the Sun's disc will be covered by about 24.5 per cent," he added. In southern and central India, the eclipse will be again observed just before sunset with Nagpur experiencing the eclipse from 16:49 to 17:42 hours. In Bengaluru, the eclipse will begin at 17:12 hours, reaching its maximum at 17:49 hours and ending at 17:55 hours during sunset. Chennai will have the eclipse from 17:14 to 17:44 hours, the astrophysicist said. The next major solar eclipse to be visible from India will be an annular eclipse on May 21, 2031, when the annularity can be observed from a narrow patch of land in south India, he said. Three years later, on March 20, 2034, the next total solar eclipse will be visible from India and the totality will be observed from the northernmost part of Kashmir. On both occasions, the whole country will observe a partial eclipse of varying magnitude depending upon its geographical location, Duari said. Another partial eclipse can be seen from the northern part of India on June 1, 2030. Referring to the harm caused to the eyes by Sun's rays during an eclipse, Duari cautioned the sky enthusiasts to take "extreme precaution" while observing it. "Even if the degree of the partial eclipse is not appreciable in most of the country, extreme precaution has to be taken by everybody who wants to observe this cosmic event. The Sun's rays can be very harmful to the eyes and can become critical," he said. Earlier Iranian state television reported that at least <a href="http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news/strong-7-8-earthquake-hits-iran-tremors-felt-in-uae#ixzz2Qd2AvHgD">40 people</a> have been killed, but the governor of Sistan and Baluchistan has <a href="http://live.reuters.com/Event/Iran_Earthquake/73096294">told ISNA</a> news agency that "the earthquake resulted in no fatalities."
Pakistani officials say at least <a href="https://twitter.com/AP/status/324215442023514113">34 people</a> have died and more than <a href="http://radio.gov.pk/newsdetail-42402">1‚000 houses</a> in Pakistani areas have been partially damaged.
Iran's Fars news agency <a href="http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9107161406">reports</a> that it's the biggest quake since a 7.7 in 1990 and the strongest in 40 years. Fars notes that many houses in the area "are made of mud brick, which can easily crumble in a quake."
