 Consulting firms like <keyword id="6359483" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Crisil">CRISIL</keyword>, <keyword id="50041" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="KPMG">KPMG</keyword>, <keyword id="6372399" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="McKinsey">McKinsey</keyword> and Mott MacDonald are among those 37 companies which will prepare the roadmap for the 88 out of a total 98 cities’ list that the Modi government plans to develop as smart cities. An Economic Times report revealed that the consulting firms’ names for the remaining 10 cities will come-up by the end of this week. 
 
States like Uttar Pradesh and Jammu &amp; Kashmir are yet to nominate a city under this very ambitious plan, wherein the government plans to develop basic infrastructure and enhance urban living. 
 
KPMG will develop an action plan for New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area while McKinsey will do it for Pune. 
 For the <keyword id="513113" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="smart-city">Smart City</keyword> Mission, a two-day "Ideas Camp" has been organised to enable effective participation of all the 98 cities in the second stage of <keyword id="3088459" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="City-Challenge">City Challenge</keyword> competition. However, only 20 cities will be selected out of the total number in the first lot. 
 
CRISIL Risk and Infrastructure Solutions Limited in association with Pri Move Infrastructure Development Consultants Private Ltd and Probity Soft Private Limited have bagged the contract for six cities – Nagpur, Kalian-Dombivali, Nasik, Thane, Solapur and Amaravati. 
 
While Jones Lang La Salle Property Consultants India Pvt Ltd in association with Townland Consultants Pvt Ltd and Tata Consulting Engineers will work in the cities including Vadodara, Bhubaneswar, Amritsar, Chennai and Tiruchirapalli, the business daily revealed. 
 
ICRA Management Consulting Private Limited in association with NJS Engineers India Private Limited and All-India Institute of Local Self-Government has managed to get for five cities including Rajkot, Kochi, Ajmer, Erode and Coimbattore, as per ET. 
 
According the plan, the Ministry of Urban Development will provide Rs 100 crore to each of the cities over the next five years. On the other hand, the central government has decided to provide Rs 48,000 crore for the mission. The government will also provide the funds to urban local bodies at frequent intervals in the next five years. 
 
The central government has also asked the state governments to generate the equal amount as the cost of the Smart City Mission is estimated to be around Rs 96,000 crore. 
 
Kanpur, Ghaziabad and Thanjavur will seek help of Dorsh Holding GmbH in association with Dorsh Consult India Pvt Ltd and L R Kadaliya and Associates to prepare plans. While Greater Mumbai, Muzaffarpur, Durgapur (Bengal) will take help from Alia Consulting Solutions Pvt Ltd and Genesis Fin. 
 
The Economic Times also added that Lucknow and Namchi (Sikkim) are working with Dataworld Pty Ltd in association with Innovest Advisory Services Pvt Ltd and Caritas Eco Systems Pvt Ltd for finalising plans. 
 
On the other hand, Hyderabad and Aurangabad are with Knight Frank (India) Pvt ltd with Fortress Infrastructure services and PSP Financial Consultants Pvt Ltd. 
 
Moving on to Navi Mumbai, we see that the city has to preapare plan with Tandon Urban Solutions Pvt Ltd with Spatial Decisions and Maha Infortech Pvt Ltd while Bhopal will do it with Price Waterhouse Coopers with Rudrabhishek Enterprise and CPG Consultants Pvt Ltd. Visakhapatnam and Ludhiana are to take assistance from AECOM India Pvt Ltd with AECOM Asia Company Ltd and Varanasi and Jhansi from N K Buildcon Pvt Ltd. 
 
All city-wise Smart City Plans will be evaluated in the second stage of the 'City Challenge' competition for identifying the top ranking 20 cities for financing during the current financial year.

New Delhi, July 1 (IANS) In a bid to help Indian students create solutions for real-world problems, Google on Wednesday announced three teams as winners of its Build for Digital India programme launched in partnership with the Ministry of Electronics &amp; Information Technology (MeitY) last year. The three winning teams were selected from over 7,000 students from more than 1,000 universities in India. Google supported students to build their prototypes by providing them access to curated content across technologies like mobile, web, machine learning and cloud. The three teams are The Third Eye from MIT world Peace University, Maharashtra for their theme 'Smart Cities and Infrastructure'; Anukai Solutions from Chitkara University, Punjab for the theme 'Smart Cities &amp; Infrastructure'; and ISpeakFree.LY team from Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Maharashtra for the theme 'Accessibility &amp; Disability'. "We congratulate these student teams and every student that participated in this six-month journey. We are confident that their entrepreneurial spirit and innovative solutions will help address areas that are core to India's challenges," said Paul Ravindranath, Programme Manager, Google India Developer Relations. Out of over 3,000 project submissions, Google shortlisted 61 projects to attend an in-person mentorship boot camps across four cities in India. Based on feedback shared by the mentors, top 15 projects were shortlisted, before selecting the three winners. "We are glad to see the result of the strong collaboration between MeitY and Google in mentoring and upskilling over 7,000 engineering and technology students with more than 3,000 strong ideas and prototypes that aim to solve for India," said Abhishek Singh, CEO, MyGov, Ministry of Electronics and IT.  Besides, with the current calendar year offering 21 extended weekends, 66 per cent of Indian travellers are choosing multiple micro-cations -- a leisure trip that's fewer than five nights -- a clear deviation from one long annual vacation, it said.
 "With several public, festive and regional holidays falling on weekdays in 2020, Indians are smartly taking leave to combine it with a public holiday and create an extended/ smart weekend getaway," the report said.
 'Staycations' will also witness an uptick in 2020, with over 23 pe cent of India's metro consumers indicating interest to relax and pamper themselves - within their city of residence.
 With city hotels wooing consumers with special weekend discounts and added benefits of spa-wellness and dining, this ensures an alluring weekend break.
 Staycations are specially designed to serve the needs of those seeking a short break from the usual chores at home or work.
 With a clear focus to detach from over-use of their smart phones, over 67 per cent of India's working professionals, millennials and solo travellers have indicated their desire to go tech-free and maintain a healthy balance.
 "2020 will hence see Indians opting for digital detox holidays, selecting destinations with limited/zero network connectivity," it said.

New Delhi, Mar 30 () Engineering and construction giant Larsen &amp; Toubro (L&amp;T) on Monday announced Rs 150 crore donation to the PM-CARES Fund to fight the coronavirus outbreak and said it has set aside over Rs 500 crore per month to support about 1.60 lakh contract workers. L&amp;T joins a list of other corporates including Tata Group and Reliance Industries who have come forward to offer their support to fight this unprecedented crisis. The company said it has set aside an outlay of over Rs 500 crore per month to support about 1.60 lakh contract workers by continuing to pay their wages during the ongoing lockdown and providing them with food and basic amenities at labour camps, while maintaining the COVID-19 prevention and containment protocol. "Responding to the call given by Prime Minister of India, the company will donate Rs 150 crore to the PM-CARES Fund," the company said in a statement. The diversified conglomerate said it is committed to participate in corporate India's response to COVID-19 through funds, community welfare plans and through leveraging its expertise to offer assistance. "We are helping India's fight against COVID-19 by way of immediate funding, and through a range of welfare initiatives including converting our training schools into Isolation Centers," Larsen &amp; Toubro Group Chairman AM Naik said. The group said, it is considering transforming all company-owned training centers and other select establishments into isolation wards. The company has also committed to offer use of its community Health &amp; Medical Centers 24X7 and use ambulances to transport patients to nearest hospitals, it said. L&amp;T Smart World &amp; Communication, a business unit of Larsen &amp; Toubro, has installed smart technologies in over 20 major cities, including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Prayagraj, Ahmedabad, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and others. Besides, ensuring 24X7 availability of ambulances, doctors and other medical facilities to workmen and employees across locations, it is sending SMS alerts, in English, Hindi and other vernacular languages, to workmen and employees on COVID-19, its symptoms, testing facilities available locally. Besides, it is relaying various health advisories and related messaging to 1,20,000 employees, daily, it said adding it has closed all offices and other establishments as per government directives and is encouraging employees to work from home. The efforts also include formation of COVID-19 Response Teams across businesses to take timely action and Decision Response Team at corporate level to keep vigil on the evolving situation and take necessary actions. On Saturday, Tata Sons and Tata Trusts had contributed Rs 1,500 crore for the same cause. JSW Group on Sunday donated Rs 100 crore to the PM Fund. While, bllionaire Gautam Adani on Sunday announced a Rs 100 crore contribution by his group's philanthropy arm to the Prime Minister's Fund to fight coronavirus outbreak.
