As Chair of the summit, Modi made the announcement during the second session of the ongoing G20 Leaders' Summit in New Delhi. "There is good news, with everyone's cooperation consensus has been reached on New Delhi G20 Leadership Declaration," he said. He praised the hard work of the Sherpas and officials for making it possible to forge a consensus on the final outcome document or the Delhi Declaration. The development was quite unexpected as the Delhi Declaration was being expected to be announced on Sunday, the last day of the Summit. Though the details of the wordings of the Delhi declaration are not yet known, the fact that Modi personally having announced that a consensus has been arrived at, indicates that some sort of compromise between Russia/China combined and other members of the G20 bloc has been arrived at, especially on the language related to the Ukraine war.. "India's G20 Presidency has been the most ambitious in history of G20. There are 73 outcomes (lines of effort) and 39 annexed documents (presidency documents, not including <keyword id="196398" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="working-group" source="Orion">Working Group</keyword> outcome documents). With 112 outcomes and presidency documents, we have more than doubled the substantive work from previous presidencies," official sources said. As reported earlier, amid hectic parleys over finding a consensus on the wordings for the Russia-Ukraine war, the G20 diplomats are learnt to have arrived at a "compromise language" to describe the full scale invasion.

G20 Leaders Summit adopts New Delhi Declaration

New Delhi, Former India skipper <keyword id="6354832" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ms-dhoni">MS Dhoni</keyword> has been declared as '<keyword id="10099237" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="T20-ka-king">T20 ka king</keyword>' in a recent online survey conducted by Sports Flashes, country's first online sports radio channel. Twelve lakh people participated in the survey on the various social media platforms of Sports Flashes, as per an official release of the channel. A total of 128 cricketers were selected from all over the world from different teams and started an interesting and enthralling battle of 127 matches, comprising different stages. The cricketers were selected based on their past performances and the current <keyword id="6354831" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-premier-league">Indian Premier League</keyword> (IPL) values by an expert panel and commentators of Sports Flashes. The voting for all these 127 matches was contested on social media handles of Sports Flashes. The survey was undertaken in stages similar to the cricket leagues which were live for the last 32 days. In semifinals, Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh were up against each other in the first semi-final, while the current Indian captain Virat Kohli was locking horns with his deputy Rohit Sharma. Final was between Dhoni and Virat Kohli. The audience selected MS Dhoni as the winner of the 'T20 ka King' title. On the survey, Raman Raheja, founder, Sports Flashes said, "This result shows that even after announcing his retirement from international cricket, fans still considers MS Dhoni as the king of cricket and value all that he has done for his country in the past; he is a true legend of the game." "The survey was undertaken to understand the engagement level of cricket lovers with their icons. 40 lakh views were achieved in 32 days. This shows cricket cannot be displaced from its position as the favourite sport in India," he added. Without taking names, he also asserted that attempts are being made to bring up bilateral issues on a platform like the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting, which goes against the consensus and the charter of the institution. “It is unfortunate that repeated attempts are being made to unnecessarily bring bilateral issues into the SCO agenda, which violate the SCO Charter and Shanghai Spirit. Such efforts are contrary to the spirit of consensus and cooperation that defines SCO,” said Modi. According to Bhatia, Modi pulled the right buttons in his statement by not concealing Delhi's unhappiness over bilateral issues being dragged in. "His stress on respect for ‘territorial integrity' was a dig on China. Moscow Declaration will be substantial, but SCO cannot go very far, without Sino-Indian reconciliation,” he said. Prime Minister Modi takes a dig at Pakistan and China during SCO summit — ‘attempts are being made to rake up bilateral issues’

New Delhi, Mar 8 () Special and differential treatment for developing countries like India will figure prominently in the World Trade Organization's (WTO) 12th Ministerial Conference meet in June in Kazakhstan, an official said. The Ministerial Conference is the highest decision-making body of the 164-member WTO. Trade ministers of all the member countries participate in the deliberations. The 12th Ministerial Conference will take place from June 8-11 this year at Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan. "This time, besides fishery subsidies, special and differential treatment and investment facilitation will figure in the meeting," the official said. As part of reforms at the WTO, the US wants the formulation of some guidelines that countries with high economic growth are prevented from taking benefits of special and differential treatment (S&amp;DT), which is meant for developing and poor nations. The S&amp;DT allows developing countries to enjoy certain benefits, including taking longer time periods for implementing agreements and binding commitments, and measures to increase trading opportunities for them. Currently, any WTO member can designate itself as a developing country and avail these benefits. The US had submitted its suggestions to the WTO that states that self-declaration puts the WTO on a path to failed negotiations and it is also a path to institutional irrelevance. India is of the view that the matter needs to be negotiated comprehensively in the WTO and a consensus-based decision needs to be taken on S&amp;DT. Further, on fishery subsidies, India wants an equitable and balanced outcome in the negotiations as the country provides support to its small and marginal fishermen who depend on the sector for sustenance. Unlike rich nations, which provide billions of dollars of subsidies to their fishermen, India's subsidy amounts to only about Rs 770 crore. The government provides subsidy on things like fuel and boat. Unlike India, the fishing community of developed countries use highly mechanised boats for fishing, which are called mother boats wherein they have processing units also. Developed countries want to intensify negotiations on fisheries subsidies so that an agreement can be clinched at the Kazakhstan meeting. At the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference, held at Buenos Aires in Argentina in December 2017, members had agreed to continue to engage constructively in fisheries subsidies negotiations, with a view to adopting an agreement by the next ministerial conference. India had earlier raised serious concerns over bringing issues related to investment facilitation within the ambit of WTO saying these are bilateral matters and cannot be decided at multi-lateral forums. Special, differential treatment for developing countries to figure in WTO meet in Kazakhstan

New Delhi, Mar 15 () Tata Motors has asked its staff in office-based roles at headquarters and regional offices to work from home with effect from Monday in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, according to an internal memo by the company's Managing Director and CEO Guenter Butschek to its employees. With the outbreak spreading beyond China's border, the company has constituted a team to monitor and initiate actions to reduce risk to employees and has developed a three tier response plan based on incidence of infection in cities it operates it or has manufacturing sites. In a slew of measures, Tata Motors has suspended international travel for employees and domestic travel involving public transport (air, rail or road) is made subject to approval, while biometric attendance system has been replaced by card swiping. Moreover, meetings or classes involving more than 20 people have been suspended, while pregnant ladies and employees with chronic respiratory and cardiac illness have also been advised to work from home, while distance between seats in canteens has been increased and staggered/extended timings have been introduced by the company as part of measures to prevent coronavirus infection. In his letter to employees, Butschek said with coronavirus being declared a pandemic by the WHO and its spread in India accelerating, "in the light of these developments and in line with broad global consensus that as a community, we need to act early and social distancing will help break the contagion and help us get ahead of the virus..." Stating that the company is announcing "additional measures to prepare the organisation for the next level of response", he said,"These temporary measures will be based on your role/function/sire and will stay in force till further notice." As part of the measures, he said, "Employees in office-based roles, including third party staff in company HQ, sales, marketing HQ, in enabling functions in regional offices and purchase team based in Pune will work from home effective Monday, 16th March. They are expected to remain connected and participate in all official engagements remotely during working hours," Butschek said. Employees in manufacturing, supply chain, quality, ERC, and warehouses across the country will continue to operate with strict adherence to the company's safety guideline, he added. Butschek further said instructed employees in areas such as sales, service, supplier quality and product line to connect with its external partners and colleagues in the organisation virtually wherever possible. "If field visit is necessary, reach out to your local administration team to leverage pool cars and avoid using public transport," he said, adding handshakes must be avoided while adhering to other personal hygiene practices. Butschek also said Tata Motors is also actively exploring work from home option for employees in roles that can be remotely performed at its global delivery centre at Pune. Terming the coronavirus pandemic as an "unprecedented situation" Butschek said, "We will review risks and mitigation measures on a daily basis and depending on how things evolve, will dial up/down these measures."
