The company has already doubled its workforce to 2000 since last year, Vineet Rao, founder and chief executive officer of DealShare, told Business Insider. The hiring outlook is a part of DealShare’s plans to further strengthen its business this quarter by focusing on filling the gaps in the business in order to build a stronger offering. Simultaneously, the company plans to expand its business 3x and enter another 100 cities in this fiscal year (FY 22-23). “Because we were growing up so fast there have been lots and lots of problems that have also creeped in. In some places my assortment is not perfect the way it should be, people are not finding all the things that they should find in DealShare, in some places pricing and promotions are not right, in some places the inventory is not available as much as it should be,” Rao told Business Insider. DealShare serves more than 3 lakh orders per day across 1,000 pin codes spread over 150 cities in 10 states. The company believes that even with the expansion to 250 cities, a large part of their traffic would come from their existing 150 cities instead of the newly added 100 cities. The company also claims to have crossed a billion dollars in gross revenue run rate last month. DealShare has raised $393 million to date since its inception in 2018. The company was founded by Vineet Rao, Sourjyendu Medda, Sankar Bora and Rajat Shikar. It primarily focuses on sale of groceries and household essentials through social media and messaging platforms like WhatsApp. The Jaipur-based company entered the unicorn club earlier this year, after being <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/ecommerce/news/social-e-commerce-platform-dealshare-raises-45-million-from-adia/articleshow/89641250.cms">valued at $1.7 billion</a>. Looking beyond hiring, Dealshare has plans for inorganic growth, too The company is also looking to strengthen its business by acquiring 5-10 small brands, with their own manufacturing units, in an attempt to expand its offerings. Rao emphasised that they would be looking to acquire fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and staples companies majorly, but will also look at essential fashion. The four-year-old startup has not yet decided on an average ticket size yet as the deal size would depend on the acquired company. Rao noted that the transaction could go as low as ₹25 crore. The company is currently exploring options for debt to fund these acquisitions. Separately, DealShare also claims to always be on the lookout for acquiring companies that can further boost its operations like logistics or technology. The Jaipur-based startup claims to have over 1,000+ micro-entrepreneur partners registered on the platform, who help sell products online. Social commerce unicorn DealShare is now on a lookout to hire 1,500 employees, acquire 10 businesses this year

The company plans to hire 400 people in leadership and engineering positions in the next 12 months. The company also plans to introduce newer categories on its platform and expand existing ones, along with building a stronger supply chain and tech stack. It is also looking to expand its geographical presence to 60 towns in the next 12-15 months, the company’s cofounder Angad Kikla told Business Insider. Overall, the company plans to enter 100 towns in the next 18 months. These towns will be shortlisted based on the digital literacy in the region, per capita income and penetration of other ecommerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. The three-year-old startup’s latest Series C round is led by Norwest Venture Partners. General Catalyst, Citius, Jungle Ventures, Arena Ventures, Elevation, Accel and Waterbridge also participated in the round. Though the company has not disclosed its valuation, Kikla confirmed that it is above $300 million. Overall, the company has raised over $110 million. CityMall enables micro-entrepreneurs — known as community leaders on the platform — to set up their virtual stores on WhatsApp and sell products to their close networks using ecommerce tools and customer analytics. The company currently claims to have a network of 30,000 community leaders across 25 towns and cities, including Sonipat, Panipat, Rewari, Faizabad and others. The company — founded in 2019 by Kikla and Naisheel Vardhan — deals in grocery, fresh and packaged fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) products, electronics and fashion products in the small towns and villages. “80% of our customers do not use any other ecommerce apps,” Kikla said. CityMall is looking to hire 400 people this year with its latest fundraise

200,000 job openings posted in the last four weeks — and 80,000 of them are entry level positions

Meesho plans to expand its grocery vertical Meesho will also invest a part of this capital in its grocery delivery marketplace Farmiso, which was launched earlier this year. The company also plans to hire aggressively for this specific vertical. The six-year-old startup runs a three-sided marketplace with suppliers, resellers and customers at the crux of it. Resellers buy unbranded fashion products from suppliers and later, sell it to the customers via social media platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram. It also has a direct sales channel. The latest round witnessed participation from new investors such as Footpath Ventures, Trifecta Capital and Good Capital. Even existing investors Prosus Ventures, SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Facebook infused an undisclosed amount in the social commerce startup. DealShare — next in line to enter the unicorn club? Meesho was founded by Vidit Aatrey and Sanjeev Barnwal in 2015 and is currently the biggest social commerce platform in the country. It competes with Tiger Global-backed DealShare, Accel-backed Glowroad and Elevation Capital-backed CityMall. DealShare is expected to be the next social commerce startup to enter the unicorn club, a startup with a valuation of over a billion dollars. Meesho raises more than half a billion dollars in the fourth biggest funding round this year

The <keyword id="20077" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="automobile-industry" source="Orion">automobile industry</keyword> is still not out of the woods and the Reserve Bank of India's (<keyword id="30067" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="rbi" source="Orion">RBI</keyword>) move to increase the repo-rate by 45 basis points will make vehicle loans expensive, said a top official of the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (<keyword id="354719" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="fada" source="Orion">FADA</keyword>). Comparing the auto sales in April 2022 with that of April 2019 FADA President Vinkesh <keyword id="188080" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="gulati" source="Orion">Gulati</keyword> said the sector is still not out of the woods as overall retails were down by minus six per cent. Apart from PV (passenger vehicle) and tractors which grew handsomely by 12 per cent and 30 per cent, two/three wheelers, commercial vehicles are yet to turn green as these categories were down by minus-11 per cent, 13 per cent and 0.5 per cent, respectively, Gulati said. "The month of April (2022) saw similar Auto Retail figures as March'22. While YoY comparison with April'21 shows all categories in green with high growth rate, it is important to note that both April'21 and April'20 were affected by nation-wide lockdown due to phase 1 and 2 of the Covid wave which witnessed no to negligible business. Hence a better comparison will be with Aprila�19 which was a normal pre-covid month," Gulati said. He said the RBI's out of turn announcement of increasing repo-rate by 45 bps has taken everyone off-guard. "The move will curb excess liquidity in the system and will make auto loans expensive," he added. While the passenger vehicle segment may be able to absorb this shock due to long waiting periods, the two wheeler segment is already reeling due to an underperforming rural market, vehicle price hikes and high fuel costs. High interest rates for vehicle loan due to RBI's move will be an additional blow for this segment. Certainly, this move will slow the speed of auto retail and dampen the sentiments further, Gulati said. On the other hand, Private consumption is regaining traction backed by a recuperating contact-intensive services and rising discretionary spending. "With the Russia-Ukraine war continuing and China under lockdown, the global auto industry continues to witness supply crunch as semi-conductor shortage along with high metal prices and container shortage prevails. Customers of the PV segment hence continues to witness long waiting period," Gulati said. Referring to the Skymet's normal monsoon forecast and if the monsoon is evenly distributed there will have a positive rub-off on rural sentiment as farmers will be able to get better crop realisation thus increasing their disposable income. It will thus benefit tractor and two wheeler sales. This along with the marriage season in coming days will also see traction in auto retail. Overall, FADA changes its stance from extremely cautious to cautious in terms of slight recovery in near term. RBI to increase repo rate by 45 basis points making vehicle loans expensive, says FADA

The edtech startup will use this funding to further develop their live teaching technology and expand into new geographies. Besides this, the company will also look into enhancement of its product and hiring talent. Teachmint had closed its Series A round in May 2021, with a funding of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/startups/news/byjus-backer-lightspeed-india-invests-in-a-live-tutoring-platform-teachmint/articleshow/78924152.cms">$16.5 million</a>. The round was led by Learn Capital, with participation from CM Ventures, Lightspeed and Better Capital. Notably, the company’s claims that its valuation has jumped three times in the last two months. The edtech startup has not shared any more details about its valuation. Founded by <keyword id="55119" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institute-of-Technology">Indian Institute of Technology</keyword> (IIT)-Delhi and Bombay alumni Mihir Gupta, Payoj Jain, Divyansh Bordia and Anshuman Kumar in 2020, Teachmint has raised about $40 million to date. The founding team has previously worked with several big brands in the digital space, including OYO, McKinsey, Swiggy and Roposo. Teachmint enables teachers to conduct online classes through a two-way interactive learning solution that allows video sharing and more. The company also offers a tutoring management software-as-a-service (<keyword id="6395918" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="SAAS">SaaS</keyword>) to help teachers mark attendance, conduct tests, create virtual classrooms and more. The edtech startup claims to have more than one million teachers on board across over 5000 Indian cities and towns. The solution is available in 10 Indian languages apart from English. The company's other products are focused more on individual teachers. However, it has recently launched an institutional product for schools and colleges. Teachmint for Institutes offers educational institutions a platform to monitor all online classes and institute activities including fee collections, performance assessments and storing lectures. Teachmint’s chief executive Gupta said, “With our platform usage growing 25x [times] over the last quarter, we are becoming the default teaching application in India and the largest live teaching platform globally, outside China. <keyword id="6354576" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="facebook">Facebook</keyword> on Thursday said it has joined hands with early stage venture capital fund <keyword id="136057" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Matrix-Partners">Matrix Partners</keyword> to scale <keyword id="390673" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="small-businesses">small businesses</keyword> in India by providing them with timely digital skilling support. The move comes barely a week after the social networking giant announced a grant of $4.3 million (Rs 32 crore) for more than 3,000 small businesses in Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru impacted by Covid-19. The tie-up with Matrix Partners is a part of Facebook's VC Brand Incubator Programme that collaborates with venture capital funds to help early-stage small and medium businesses (SMBs) to maximise their digital potential. In light of the pandemic, Facebook has taken the programme online to ensure continued skilling and support for small businesses even in these times. "Facebook is committed to supporting the growth of small businesses in India, and this charter is stronger than ever as we work towards enabling their recovery from the pandemic," Archana Vohra, Director, Small and Medium Businesses at Facebook India, said in a statement. With the tie-up with Matrix Partners India, the program also completes one year during which it has collaborated with six VC Funds -- Sauce.VC, Fireside Ventures, SAIF Partners, Sequoia Capital, DSG Ventures, and Matrix Partners India. During this period, the programme has skilled, trained and mentored more than 150 brands at various stages of their growth journey. Matrix Partners India is a leading early-stage investor that partners closely with SMBs across sectors including consumer technology, business-to-business, enterprise, and fintech among others. In India, among many other brands, they have also invested in marquee companies such as Ola, Quikr, Practo, Dailyhunt, Mswipe, Country Delight, and Razorpay among others. "We've been early backers in many challenger brands from across the spectrum -- eCommerce, gaming, CPG, neo-banking, healthcare, content – to name a few, and we're thrilled to see them create world-beating products and leverage Facebook's platform to reach their end consumers, and bring about large scale impact," said Sanjot Malhi, Director, Matrix India. As part of the VC Brand Incubator Programme, Facebook has also started Campaign Lab that helps direct-to-consumer small businesses get creative solutioning support, and go live with mobile friendly creatives and strategy in under 72 hours.
