In order to maintain end-to-end encryption, the encrypted messaging app <keyword id="6380504" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="signal" source="Orion">Signal</keyword> has introduced a new feature that allows users to customise how to post their <keyword id="6399193" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="stories" source="Orion">stories</keyword>. The new feature will allow stories to automatically expire 24 hours after sharing, but anyone can manually delete them anytime before. One just has to go to Settings and then to "Stories" and turn off Stories to maintain utmost privacy. "Today, stories have created a major shift in communication in the social media domain, and introducing such cool features is another dynamic to amplify content engagement in a hassle-free mode," an official report said. "There has been conjecture on maintaining privacy, and with the new feature introduced at Signal, it enables the user to have intimate conversations with the people who matter," it added. The platform has chosen to handle story viewing in a broader way. All Signal contacts can view stories, including everyone in your phone's contact list who uses the app, anyone who has had a one-on-one conversation (even without adding a contact), and anyone who has accepted a message request. Additionally, one can share stories with a smaller group of people or groups and create a custom format to keep track of who has viewed each story, said the report. Leading <keyword id="12224585" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="crypto-exchange-Coinbase" source="Orion">crypto exchange Coinbase</keyword> will lay off more employees soon in a fresh round of job cuts, as the world of crypto faces another existential threat after the FTX collapse, the media reported. The layoffs were announced internally and the company is likely to sack around 60 employees in its recruiting and institutional onboarding teams, reports The Information. The cuts will take place as the broader cryptocurrency industry is in chaos due to the ongoing FTX saga which has alarmed investors and caused cryptocurrency values to sink further. Crypto exchange FTX Founder and CEO Sam Bankman-Fried told investors that he needed emergency funding to cover a shortfall of up to $8 billion due to withdrawal requests received in recent days. Leading crypto exchange Binance has also pulled out of the FTX acquisition deal. Even before the FTX problems, Coinbase had tried to control costs, as declining crypto trading volumes were hurting this year's revenue, the report said. In June this year, the crypto exchange company had announced to lay off 18 per cent of its workforce, or about 1,100 jobs amid the economic downturn. Brian Armstrong, CEO and co-founder had said that while the company tried its best to get this just right, in this case, it was clear that it had over-hired. Now, the collapse of the FTX crypto exchange has brought yet another round of threats to the crypto industry as a whole amid Bitcoin and other crypto values dropping further. Crypto exchange Coinbase to lay off more employees amid FTX saga

The <keyword id="6355302" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupee" source="Orion">rupee</keyword> appreciated 15 paise to 82.32 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday tracking easing crude oil prices and a positive trend in domestic equities. At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 82.35 against the dollar, then gained ground to quote at 82.32, registering a rise of 15 paise over its previous close. In the previous session on Friday, the rupee declined by 14 paise to close at 82.47 against the dollar. The rupee started on a stronger note on Monday tracking weak oil prices. However, most Asian and emerging market peers started weaker and could cap gains, said Sriram Iyer, Senior Research Analyst at Reliance Securities. Iyer further noted that caution will set in this week ahead of crucial meetings from the US Fed, the Bank of England and a surprise meeting of the RBI. For the first time since the implementation of the monetary policy framework in 2016, the Reserve Bank will submit a report to the government on its failure to keep the retail inflation rate below six per cent for three consecutive quarters beginning January 2022. The central bank has called a special meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) on November 3. Meanwhile, the <keyword id="75201" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dollar-index" source="Orion">dollar index</keyword>, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.01 per cent to 110.73. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, declined 0.52 per cent to USD 95.27 per barrel. In the domestic equity market, the 30-share BSE <keyword id="6484188" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sensex" source="Orion">Sensex</keyword> was trading 605 points or 1.01 per cent higher at 60,564.85. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty rose 171.85 points or 0.97 per cent to 17,958.65. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital markets on Friday as they purchased shares worth Rs 1,568.75 crore, according to exchange data. Rupee gains 15 paise to 82.32 against US dollar

Sharing salary information is considered taboo in India, and 61 per cent of professionals are more comfortable sharing their pay details with family members rather than with co-workers or friends, a LinkedIn report said on Thursday. Just one in 10 professionals said they would discuss their salaries with coworkers they trust (13 per cent) and peers they trust in other companies (9 per cent). According to LinkedIn's <keyword id="9245189" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Workforce-Confidence-Index" source="Orion">Workforce Confidence Index</keyword>, India's overall workforce confidence has dwindled slightly. "This is due to a volatile perception towards jobs, finances, and career progress in these times of global uncertainty," said the report. Despite a dip in overall confidence, India's workforce remains optimistic about navigating these challenges as seven in 10 professionals say they are confident about reaching the next level in their field, their work experience and education and chances of their income increasing. "Professionals are still not comfortable to have conversations about pay in the workplace," said Nirajita Banerjee, India Managing Editor, LinkedIn News. Family and friends remain India's closest confidantes when it comes to sharing the size of their paychecks. However, "the current generation of young professionals are more willing to share pay information with their coworkers and industry peers as compared to other generations", Banerjee noted. In fact, Gen Z professionals are found most likely to share their pay across their whole network as compared to any other age group. Around 72 per cent of Gen Z and 64 per cent of millennials in India say they are comfortable sharing their pay information with family members, while 43 per cent of Gen Z and 30 per cent of millennials are also willing to confide in their close friends. "Gen Z are keen to influence change and eager to lead these conversations in the workplace, Banerjee added. About 45 per cent of professionals in India say pay discussions among peers are discouraged at their workplace. Further, 36 per cent of professionals in India also say they feel anxious sharing their pay information with anyone. A golden parachute is essentially a contract which entitles top executives of a company to substantial benefits in case they lose their jobs following a merger, takeover or acquisition. This measure is also known as a 'poison pill' since it can act as a safeguard against hostile takeovers. In August, US-based corporate research firm Equilar had estimated that ex-CEO Paras Agrawal alone could receive a USD 42 million payout if he is terminated after the takeover. The debt-funded deal has become a costly exercise even for Musk, the world's richest man. Legal costs in particular are likely to have run into the tens of millions of dollars after Musk tried to terminate the deal with Twitter in July, arguing that the company had misled him over the number of bot accounts on the social network. Agrawal is likely to receive the largest payout, worth USD 57.4 million, while Segal and Gedde are entitled to USD 44.5 million and USD 20 million respectively, according to company filings. The three executives also hold a cumulative 1.2 million shares, which are likely to be bought by Musk as is standard in any takeover. Those payments would be worth USD 8.4 million to Agrawal, USD 22 m to Segal and USD 34.8 million to Gadde. After closing the USD 44 billion acquisition deal, Elon Musk has started to reform the policies of the micro-blogging platform and is wasting no time remodelling it by cutting off employees, and introducing plans for a council to determine content decisions, The Hill reported. In one of the first few changes, he purged the top executives of the company as soon as he closed the expected deal in which Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal and finance chief Ned Segal left the company's San Francisco headquarters.
