This transparency is crucial for clients to understand how <keyword id="20096338" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="AI-tools" source="keywords">AI tools</keyword> contribute to their investment decisions and to make informed choices about their advisory services. "The possibility of unintended data exposure highlights the need for strong security measures and clear disclosure to clients about the extent of AI tool usage", Trivesh D, COO at Tradejini, a stock trading platform, told PTI. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), in its consultation paper earlier this month, highlighted the growing usage of AI tools in Investment Adviser (IA) and Research Analyst (RA) services. With technological innovations and advancements, many AI tools are currently available in chatbot form such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, etc. AI-based tools allow one to have human-like conversations and receive human-like responses with the chatbot. These tools assist various tasks such as summarising and analysing data and may help in improving efficiency and productivity. "These AI tools, however, may not adequately safeguard sensitive data shared during conversations, potentially leading to unintended data exposure and concerns related to <keyword id="19900735" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="data-security" source="keywords">data security</keyword>," SEBI said in its consultation paper issued last week. Feroze Azeez, Deputy CEO, Anand Rathi Wealth Ltd said "while embracing this innovation, we must be mindful of its implications and responsibilities". IAs provide personalised services according to client-specific requirements, based on <keyword id="22797015" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="risk-profiling" source="keywords">risk profiling</keyword> and suitability. Similarly, RAs provide recommendations based on certain parameters and methodology adopted and are required to keep records of the research report, research recommendations and rationale for arriving at research recommendations. While AI tools can provide significant assistance in the work of IAs and RAs, they may not always give meaningful outputs that are expected to be based on the understanding of complex security-specific or client-specific scenarios/ requirements such as personal/ financial conditions or goals, SEBI stated. Further, such tools may not always provide all the information based on which output/ recommendation has been generated. For example, AI tools may not bring out whether the requirements of risk profiling and suitability have been complied with by IA, it added. "An IA/RA who uses AI tools for servicing its clients must provide complete disclosure of the extent of use of such tools to its prospective clients, to enable them to take informed decisions of continuance or otherwise with the IA/RA," SEBI suggested in the consultation paper. Considering that the investment advice/ research services provided by IA/RA based on AI tools would affect the investment decision of clients, SEBI said, the responsibility of data security, compliance with the regulatory provisions governing investment advisory services/research services lies solely with the IA/ RA, irrespective of the scale and scenario of IA/ RA using AI tools. Trivesh believes that <keyword id="19901571" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="technology" source="keywords">technology</keyword> can significantly enhance the efficiency and reach of investment advisory service, but it should be used as a complementary tool, rather than a complete replacement for human judgment and expertise. "The dynamic and culturally diverse nature of India's financial landscape demands personalized investment advice that AI alone cannot provide. Since AI will undoubtedly continue to change the <keyword id="19976433" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-services" source="keywords">financial services</keyword> sector, efforts to integrate it into IA and RA services should be pursued with a balanced approach, leveraging its strengths while addressing its limitations," he added. Additionally, SEBI is also looking to create a closed ecosystem for fee collection by registered investment advisers and research analysts through a separate mechanism in order to help investors ensure that their payments are reaching only registered IAs and RAs and help them identify, isolate and avoid unregistered entities, who would be unable to access this closed ecosystem.

The company said in an April investor presentation that it reached 90% of 13- to 24-year-olds and 75% of 13- to 34-year-olds in more than 25 countries. While 18% of teens said Snapchat was their favorite this fall, 28% ranked it as their favorite in the fall of 2023.Ultimately, interest among teens can be both a blessing and a curse for social-media apps. US officials and state politicians have been going after Big Tech in recent months over how they protect the safety of their teen users. Fourteen attorneys general sued TikTok this week, alleging that the social platform damaged the mental health of its young users. Meta faced a similar lawsuit from 42 attorneys general last year.Instagram is meanwhile rolling out <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/instagram-teen-accounts-parental-controls-default-meta-social-media-2024-9">mandatory teen accounts</a> for those under 18 years old as it adds safeguards to protect its younger users.

Instagram has surged to a new high among US teens, new data reveals

Just six years later, the vast majority of AWS's largest server customers have become Graviton users.Rahul Kulkarni, AWS's director of compute and AI/ML, told Business Insider that more than 90% of the 1,000 largest elastic compute cloud (EC2) customers are running Graviton chips. Customers can only access Graviton chips through AWS's EC2 servers."It just continues to show how Graviton is gaining traction," Kulkarni said.The new data point is the latest indication of Graviton's growing success. AWS previously said that over 50,000 customers, including the 100 largest EC2 users, run Graviton-based servers.Graviton is a key part of AWS's data center business. Designing its own chips allows AWS to reduce data center operating costs because it no longer has to buy CPUs solely from other vendors, like Intel or AMD. Graviton also uses Arm-based designs, which are more cost and energy-efficient than conventional x86-powered chips.Amazon doesn't disclose the size of revenue from its custom silicon business. The company is scheduled to announce its third-quarter earnings on Thursday.Kulkarni said Graviton's price value, energy efficiency, and general performance drive more customer adoption. Big enterprises, such as Epic Games, Databricks, and Pinterest, are all major Graviton customers, he said."We have a lot of engagement going on in custom silicon, and that's an area that we will continue to invest in at a very aggressive pace going forward," Kulkarni said.<h2 id="7b568770-d1b9-4b81-ba12-d502621d504a">AI inference</h2>AWS started considering designing its own custom chips after its SVP and distinguished engineer, James Hamilton, wrote an internal 6-page strategy document in 2013. In 2015, AWS doubled down on this plan by acquiring Israel-based chip designer Annapurna Labs.Bernstein Research wrote last year that Amazon is the "most successful" Arm-based server chip designer, supplying over 50% of the Arm server chips worldwide. It estimated Graviton accounted for roughly 20% of AWS's CPU usage as of mid-2022. AWS offers access to other processors, including Intel or AMD chips.AWS's Kulkarni said Graviton is still mostly used for general computing purposes, but a growing number of customers are using it for CPU-based AI inference and machine learning frameworks. He said that Graviton, now in its fourth generation, has added new features and capabilities that enable unique use cases, like AI inference, that don't necessarily need dedicated machine learning processors."It's a new revenue channel that goes beyond what AWS had anticipated Graviton to be used for," Kulkarni said.In the past couple of years, Amazon has been <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-layoffs-10000-employees-grand-challenge-team-dramatic-changes-2022-11">cutting costs</a> across the company, shuttering dozens of projects or scaling down unprofitable units. AWS's chip-designing business appears safe from those cutbacks.During an analyst call in August, Jassy said Graviton has been "very successful" for AWS. Over 90% of AWS's biggest data center customers are now using its homegrown Graviton chips, executive says

New Delhi [India], May 24 (ANI): <keyword id="21790772" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indias-data-centre-industry" source="Orion">India's data centre industry</keyword> to attract an investment of USD 5.7 billion by 2026 amid the growing demand for <keyword id="19899640" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="AI" source="keywords">AI</keyword> (<keyword id="107950" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="artificial-intelligence" source="Orion">Artificial Intelligence</keyword>), says a report by real estate and investment management company, JLL. The report highlights that India's <keyword id="13391374" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="data-centre-industry" source="Orion">data centre industry</keyword> will add 791 MW capacity by 2026 and this expansion will lead to a demand of 10 million sq. ft of real state space. "The <keyword id="126804" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="data-centre" source="Orion">Data Centre</keyword> (DC) industry in India is set to witness remarkable growth, with projections of adding 791 MW capacity by 2026. This expansion will drive demand for 10 million sq. ft. of real estate space, attracting investments worth USD 5.7 billion" said the report. A data center is a facility that centralises an organisation's IT operations and equipment to store, process and transfer data and applications. The report highlights that growth in computing power and the resulting new applications are expected to drive strong demand for DC industry over the medium term. The expected demand of the Indian data centre industry to reach 650-800 MW during 2024-26. The surge in demand for data centres is primarily fuelled by the increasing adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The report points out that Cloud Service Providers (CSPs), who essentially offer IT infrastructure systems primarily for data storage and computing power accessible through the Internet, have realigned their requirements to factor in AI-led demand. The CSPs have also announced higher investments to scale up AI-led growth. "The exponential growth in processing power and data volumes, driven by AI, necessitates the development of new data centres capable of meeting energy, processing, and cooling needs. The anticipated expansion and progression of diverse AI disciplines are projected to create additional demand for data centres, expanding their capacity requirements and advancing their capabilities" said Rachit Mohan, Head, Data Centre Advisory, India, JLL. According to the report in the second half of 2023, there was a 12 per cent increase in absorption to 81 MW compared to 72 MW during the same period last year. This growth can be attributed to cloud service providers (CSP) gaining momentum after a brief hiatus during the first half of 2023. In Mumbai, absorption nearly doubled during this period as CSPs renewed their pace of absorption. "India is poised to be the third-largest economy, with a projected USD 5 trillion GDP by 2027 with digital economy contribution of around 20 per cent. This digital expansion is anticipated to propel the growth of India's data centre industry, projected to increase from 853 MW in 2023 to 1,645 MW by 2026," said Dr. Samantak Das, Chief Economist and Head of Research &amp; REIS, India, JLL. There was a lower supply addition of 75 MW during H2 2023 as the available supply from the first half was utilised to meet the demand, resulting in tighter vacancy levels of 5.5 per cent. With a large user market, talented workforce, and thriving startup ecosystem, India presents a significant opportunity to emerge as a global data hub, driven by sustainable practices. The country's DC sector expanded from 350 MW in 2019 to 854 MW in 2023, in line with the increasing digital usage trends.

<ul><li><keyword id="2665691" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="niti-aayog" source="Orion">NITI Aayog</keyword> has sought clarity from the government regarding possible passenger data storage.</li><li>The <keyword id="15444126" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="digi-yatra-policy" source="Orion">Digi Yatra Policy</keyword> envisages <keyword id="4471307" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="digi-yatra" source="Orion">Digi Yatra</keyword> as a completely voluntary scheme.</li><li>In this policy, passengers sign up and consent to use Digi Yatra for the purpose of check-in and boarding, this agreement would have the legal character of a voluntary agreement for the temporary collection, temporary storage, and use of data.</li></ul>Amid growing concerns about use of facial recognition technology (FRT) across sectors, the NITI Aayog has sought clarity from the government regarding possible passenger data storage, as well as compliance with the laws and trustworthiness of the ecosystem governing Digi Yatra, a flight boarding system that uses this technology and which the government proposes to use in the aviation sector in future. The Digi Yatra Policy envisages Digi Yatra as a completely voluntary scheme. Where the passengers sign up and consent to use Digi Yatra for the purpose of check-in and boarding, this agreement would have the legal character of a voluntary agreement for the temporary collection, temporary storage, and use of data. "This agreement must comply with existing laws and rules on data privacy," a discussion paper on "Responsible Artificial Intelligence For All" by the government think tank has suggested. Released on November 2, the discussion paper focusses on responsible usage of artificial intelligence-based tools and technologies like FRT. The paper goes on to add that the "rules are set out presently under the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data and Information) Rules, 2011 ('SPDI Rules'). "Given that the Digi Yatra Foundation, which operationalised the <keyword id="12654561" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="digi-yatra-central-ecosystem" source="Orion">Digi Yatra Central Ecosystem</keyword>, is established under the Companies Act, 2013, it would amount to a 'body corporate' for the purposes of the SPDI Rules. Therefore, it would be necessary for Digi Yatra to comply with the SPDI rules." The Digi Yatra Policy further states that facial biometrics data is deleted from the local airport's database 24 hours after the departure of the passenger's flight. NITI Aayog, however, seeks that the rules related to deletion of other information collected from the passengers, as well as any facial biometrics that are stored in other registries, must be clearly set out in Digi Yatra's policy. The Digi Yatra Policy mentions that users may also be able to provide consent for value-added services at the airport, for which purpose, their data may be shared with other entities like cab operators and other commercial entities. On this, the government think tank has suggested that there must be specific care taken to ensure that such consent is meaningfully provided and is not bundled by default. "In addition to cyber security audits, it is imperative to establish a mechanism for performing algorithmic audits by independent and accredited auditors, prior to system deployment at periodic intervals," the discussion paper said. It is pertinent to mention that FRT, like other intelligent algorithms, is fundamentally a data-intensive technology. In order to ensure propriety and legality in the manner in which data processing happens to train and develop FRT systems, it is imperative to have a codified data protection regime in the country at the earliest, the discussion paper further stated. "The new data protection bill must retain the framework to ensure data protection, including obligations, enforcement mechanisms, a regulatory agency, penalties, and remedies from the <keyword id="2617070" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="personal-data-protection-bill" source="Orion">Personal Data Protection Bill</keyword>, 2019. "Furthermore, such a regime must not be limited to regulating data processing by private entities but must adequately codify protections for fundamental right to privacy against state agencies (including law enforcement)," it added. NITI Aayog further recommended that sensitive personal data should be protected under the new data protection law, including biometric data such as facial images and scans. "Consequently, it is recommended that rigorous standards for data processing, as well as the storage and retention of sensitive biometric data should be adequately addressed in any proposed data protection regime, to address privacy risks associated with FRT systems," it concluded. The most common passwords in India and how long it takes to crack them

Nearly 68 per cent of employees use one smartphone for both work and personal purposes while 32 per cent use two smartphones, though not always simply one for work and one for personal use, a Google-led study has revealed, as a large percentage of mobile workforce continues to work from home. Across the various user groups surveyed, 70 per cent said they would prefer a user interface (UI) on their phones that clearly separates work and personal apps and <keyword id="6355729" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="data">data</keyword>, over a UI with no separation. "<keyword id="66720" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="users">Users</keyword> mentioned that a clear delineation between work and personal apps and data can help them improve digital wellbeing and balance between their personal lives and their work," said the <keyword id="6355629" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="google">Google</keyword> study done along with experience management firm <keyword id="7027459" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="qualtrics">Qualtrics</keyword>. Nearly 85 per cent of employees use at least one smartphone for both work and personal use. "With the increase of workers at home, and a large number of companies announcing hybrid work plans, employees are increasingly juggling work and personal life on a single device. Many are struggling to find the right balance between creating separation of work-life balance and maintaining privacy," Google said in a blog post on Thursday. The data showed that work profile users (81 per cent) are more satisfied than non-work profile users (71 per cent) with their experience of managing work and personal life on the same device. When there is a distinct separation between work and personal apps, people are more conscious about their data and the boundaries they can and cannot cross. Work profile users are more aware than non-work profile users that the data linked to their work account can be seen by their company and more satisfied that their work data can be kept secure. For example, 63 per cent of work profile users are aware that <keyword id="11336898" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="work-app-usage">work app usage</keyword> (data captured on work apps) is visible to IT, compared to only 39 per cent of non-work profile users who also use work apps on their phone.
