The CyberDog is Xiaomi’s first quadruped robotic companion – it is open source, so developers can develop use cases and implement their own ideas. Enlisting community support is essential for a product that is currently in very early stages of development. The <keyword id="11832701" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Xiaomi-CyberDog">Xiaomi CyberDog</keyword> is powered by the company’s in-house servo motors that the company says offers it “great speed, agility” and a wide range of motion. Its <a href="https://blog.mi.com/en/2021/08/10/xiaomi-launches-cyberdog-an-open-source-quadruped-robot-companion/">blog post</a> states that the CyberDog can conduct high-speed movements of up to 3.2m/s, roughly translating to 12km/hour. The CyberDog can also do things like backflips, responding to touch thanks to sensors, but it cannot give the furry experience that a normal dog would. Enlisting community support for its products is not new for Xiaomi – the company acquired the community-made MIUI ecosystem a decade ago to power its smartphones. It has also used community development as one of the primary tools to make its devices popular amongst enthusiasts during the early days of its smartphone journey. It will be interesting to see if Xiaomi is able to replicate this with its robotics solutions as well. The CyberDog is priced at CNY 9,999 (approx. ₹1,15,000) and Xiaomi plans to sell 1,000 units initially. Whether personal robotics solutions like this one will take off or not remains to be seen. Xiaomi’s CyberDog is a robotic version of man’s best friend

The company launched the CyberOne along with its foldable phone. The humanoid robot was seen with the company’s chief executive officer Lei Jun on stage. The robot handed a flower to Jun on stage. The company has also claimed that the humanoid has a high emotional quotient, can detect human emotions, and has advanced vision capabilities. CyberOne features two microphones and two cameras, allowing it to hear and see in three dimensions. It uses microphones to analyze human vocal expressions and can detect 45 different emotions. The CyberOne weighs 52 kg and has a height of 5 feet 8 inches (177 cm). It can walk at a speed of 3.6 km per hour and grip objects while it walks. It is to be noted that CyberOne is still in development and may take a long time before it is ready for commercial launch. Each unit of CyberOne can cost between CNY 600,000 to CNY 700,000 (approx. ₹71 lakh to ₹82.8 lakh). The company will have to significantly reduce the price if it plans on building it on a large scale. The CyberOne is still in the early stages of development and cannot be compared to other humanoid robots, such as the Atlas from <keyword id="1005599" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="boston-dynamics" source="Orion">Boston Dynamics</keyword>. Boston Dynamics worked on Atlas for over 25 years and continues to develop it. Elon Musk-led Tesla revealed that the company is working on a robot named <keyword id="545507" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="optimus" source="Orion">Optimus</keyword>, which will be launched in 2023.
