They want to bring these remote areas into the digital era and have already initiated such activities in Chhattisgarh, Injiram and Sukma. In July, it had also launched the first mobile phone tower in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. It also enabled internet facilities, and provided computers to students--a move which was well appreciated by its residents. “Padhega Bastar, tabhi toh badhega Bastar (Education in Bastar will lead to development),” Moses Dhinakaran, Directorate General of CRPF tweeted. The Bastar district in Chhattisgarh is prone to Maoist activities.

It recently provided smart TVs and DTH connections to a girls hostel in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. The CRPF has deployed over <a href="http://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/2019/jul/21/in-a-first-crpf-to-install-sanitary-pad-dispensers-for-women-in-combat-2007290.html">300,000 personnel</a>, including several employed in conflicted or naxal areas of the country such as Bastar and Jammu and Kashmir.

India’s paramilitary forces organise digital classes in naxal affected areas

Four <keyword id="6354354" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="crpf" source="Orion">CRPF</keyword> personnel were killed and three others injured after their colleague opened fire at them in a camp of the paramilitary force in <keyword id="43945" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="chhattisgarh" source="Orion">Chhattisgarh</keyword>'s <keyword id="6363596" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sukma" source="Orion">Sukma</keyword> district on Monday, a police official said. The incident took place at around 3.15 am in the camp of the Central Reserve Police Force's (CRPF) 50th battalion in Linganpalli village under Maraiguda police station of the area of the district, located nearly 400 km from the state capital Raipur, Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P said. As per preliminary information, constable <keyword id="12486778" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="reetesh-ranjan" source="Orion">Reetesh Ranjan</keyword> fired at his colleagues with his service weapon, an AK-47 rifle, the official said. The seven injured personnel were immediately shifted to a hospital in nearby Bhadrachalam area of neighbouring Telangana, where doctors declared four of them dead on arrival, the official said. Those killed were identified as constables <keyword id="12486777" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rajmani-kumar-yadav" source="Orion">Rajmani Kumar Yadav</keyword>, <keyword id="12486526" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rajib-mondal" source="Orion">Rajib Mondal</keyword>, Dhanji and <keyword id="183281" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dharmendra-kumar" source="Orion">Dharmendra Kumar</keyword>, he said, adding that three other injured personnel were being treated at the hospital. "The motive behind the firing is yet to be ascertained and an investigation is on into the incident," the official said. Constable Ranjan was immediately held and his interrogation is underway, he said. In a similar incident of fratricide in January this year, a CRPF jawan was killed and another one injured after their colleague opened fire at them in their camp in the state's Bastar district, police earlier said. The offender had then tried to commit suicide by shooting himself, they said. Four CRPF personnel killed and three injured after colleague opens fire in Chhattisgarh

Bodies of 17 of the 18 jawans missing after an encounter with <keyword id="6361310" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="naxals">Naxals</keyword> in <keyword id="43945" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chhattisgarh">Chhattisgarh</keyword> were recovered from the site of the skirmish on Sunday, police said. The number of <keyword id="388021" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="security-personnel">security personnel</keyword> killed in the encounter has gone up to 22, police said. Eighteen jawans were missing after five security personnel were killed and 30 others injured on Saturday in the fierce gun-battle with Naxals in a forest along the border between Bijapur and <keyword id="11042358" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sukma-districts">Sukma districts</keyword> in Chhattisgarh, police earlier said. "On Sunday, bodies of 17 missing personnel were recovered during a <keyword id="47581" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="search-operation">search operation</keyword>. With this, total 22 personnel have been killed in the gunfight," a senior police official said. The bodies of three jawans who were reported killed on Saturday were also recovered, he said, adding that the search operation was still on in the forest. In a major joint offensive, separate joint teams of security forces, comprising over 2,000 personnel, had launched an anti-Naxal operation from Bijapur and Sukma districts in the South Bastar forests, considered as the Maoist stronghold, on Friday night. When the patrolling team that was dispatched from Tarrem was advancing through forest near Jonaguda, located around 500 km away from the state capital Raipur, it was ambushed by cadres of PLGA (Peoples' Liberation Guerilla Army) battalion of <keyword id="6362994" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="maoists">Maoists</keyword> that led to gun-battle. Chhattisgarh's Deputy Inspector General (anti-Naxal operation) O P Pal on Saturday said five security personnel were killed and 30 others injured in the gunfight. "Some jawans, both from the police and paramilitary, were reported to be missing following the encounter and efforts are on to trace them," he had said. Out of the injured personnel, seven were admitted to a hospital in Raipur, while 23 others were undergoing treatment in the Bijapur district hospital. Citing the "ground report", Pal had claimed that Maoists suffered a huge loss in the gunfight, but the body of only one woman Naxal could be recovered from the spot amid the heavy exchange of fire. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday condoled the death of security personnel in the encounter, and said their valour will never be forgotten. Shah also said the government will continue its fight against such enemies of peace and progress. Eleven personnel of the <keyword id="76600" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Central-Reserve-Police-Force">Central Reserve Police Force</keyword> (<keyword id="6354354" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="CRPF">CRPF</keyword>) were killed during an encounter with Maoists in <keyword id="43945" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chhattisgarh">Chhattisgarh</keyword>'s Sukma district. The encounter, which took place at around 12.25 pm, happened in the Burkapal-Chintagufa area, worst Maoist violence-affected district in south Bastar. As per initial reports, six jawans were injured in the attack. "The Naxals fired at a patrolling party of the CRPF near Burkapal village leaving six personnel injured," special director general (anti-Naxal operations) of Chhattisgarh Police, D M Awasthi told PTI. he jawans are from the 74th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). "A helicopter has already left for the spot to evacuate the injured. The encounter is still on," a senior officer said.

New Delhi, Apr 7 () Security forces deployed in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region have been alerted against violent attacks after inputs suggested that large groups of Maoists have started "regrouping" in the area to take advantage of the ongoing lockdown aimed at containing the spread of coronavirus, officials said on Tuesday.A senior official looking after anti-Naxal operations in the state, worst-hit in terms of violent Maoist activities, said armed cadres of the ultras have been reported to be undertaking meetings in south Bastar districts of Jagdalpur, Dantewada and Sukma."The concern of Naxal attacks on security forces and others in south Chhattisgarh have increased after multiple inputs received by the agencies suggest that a large group has entered into the area from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and even Nepal.""While the CPI (Maoist) have called for unilateral ceasefire in Odisha, no such call has been made in the Chhattisgarh area," the official said.Some booby traps have been recovered by security forces in Bijapur district of the Bastar region in the last few days and hence security forces like the CRPF and state police have been asked to be on alert against Naxal attacks, a second official posted in Chhattisgarh told .Inputs have been received that "taking advantage of the lockdown period and less number of operations by security forces, Maoists have conducted intensive reconnaissance in the Rajpenta and Chimilipenta areas and have also planted improvised explosive devices (IEDs)" in these areas of Dantewada and Sukma districts respectively.The first official said security forces have also been informed about some meetings being held by senior Naxal commanders asking locals to protest against the administration for fixing a minimum price for plucking of the 'Tendu leaves' from the forests.On Monday night, the officer based in Chhattisgarh said, the Kerlapal area committee of Maoists blasted an IED and damaged a culvert near Renga Para on Dornapal-Jagargunda road in Sukma district.Some new Central Reserve Police Force camps, opened deep inside along the Abujhmaad forest area, have also been alerted against possible Naxal ambushes and attacks, the official said.Armed Naxal cadres belonging to the Malangir area committee in Chhattisgarh had also damaged the Aranpur-Potali road at ten places and rendered it unsuitable for plying of vehicles, he said.The forces as well as civilians use this road and keeping in mind these activities, the security forces units in this area have also been asked to remain vigilant especially after sunset, the official added.The forces, the first official said, have been asked to undertake only "intelligence inputs based" operations in the next few days and strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures to minimise risks.The tactical counter offensive campaign (TCOC), a period in summers when Maoists undertake mega operations to increase their base and hit security forces, has also likely begun in the Bastar area with the assembly of large number of cadres over the last few weeks, he said.About 30 CRPF and CoBRA battalions (about 30,000 personnel) apart from armed police units of the state have been deployed for anti-Naxal operations in the Bastar area that shares border with multiple states.A purported audio tape has been released in Telugu a few days back and a man who identifies himself as the secretary of the outfit's Malkangiri-Koraput-Visakha Divisional Committee (MKVDC) has said they will not attack any government official or security forces personnel if they are providing help to villagers and tribals in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. COVID-19: Security forces deployed in Chhattisgarh alerted against Naxal grouping, attacks

Raipur, Jun 25 () The number of coronavirus cases in Chhattisgarh increased to 2,456 on Thursday after 37 people, including three CRPF personnel, tested positive, a health official said. 128 coronavirus patients were discharged from hospitals following recovery since last evening, he said. "Nine cases were reported from Raipur, four each from Rajnandgaon and Raigarh districts, three each from Balrampur, Surajpur, Jashpur and Gariaband, two each from Bastar and Sukma while one case each was reported from Dantewada, Bemetara, Bijapur and Janjgir-Champa districts, he said. "Two CRPF personnel, a constable belonging to 150th battalion and a head constable from 223rd battalion, in Sukma tested positive for the viral infection while an assistant commandant from 229th battalion of CRPF was found COVID-19 positive in Bijapur," said a police official. All three had returned from other states and were kept in quarantine centres, he added. Earlier, three personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force had tested positive for the viral infection in Sukma. Bijapur district recorded its first coronavirus case on Thursday.
